"In a town best known for its old-school pizza joints, it can be hard to fit in if you haven't been around for over 80 years (see: legends Frank Pepe’s and Sally’s). But Bar isn’t so worried about that—their famous mashed potato and thick-cut bacon pizza send all tradition by the wayside. Purists should sample the red pie with mozzarella and meatballs, which has a sweet and tangy sauce and a thin, charred crust. Wash it down with one of Bar’s excellent home-brewed beers." - anne cruz, team infatuation

"Before it expanded into a pizzeria in the ‘90s, Bar was just an actual bar and a dance club. But this “newcomer” on the New Haven apizza scene has grown in credibility and popularity over the years for their pies, which come out larger and more oblong than Wooster Street apizzas and are served on tableside trays. Unlike the other spots, Bar slices their pies into long, thin pieces, making them a little floppier than we’d prefer. But their red pie with mozzarella holds up against the New Haven legends, the mashed potato and bacon pie is a fan favorite (though we personally find it to be a little too loaded), and their more inventive “staff favorite” pies, like Mexican Street Corn, are unlike anything else you’ll find in New Haven. Plus, this spot is massive—if you have a big group of apizza enthusiasts, this is where you should go." - ciera velarde, holland white

"In a town best known for its old-school apizza joints, it can be hard to fit in if you haven't been around for over 80 years (see: legends Frank Pepe’s and Sally’s). But Bar isn’t so worried about that—their famous mashed potato and brick-oven-cooked bacon pizza sends all tradition by the wayside. Purists should sample the red pie with mozzarella, which has a sweet and tangy sauce and a thin, charred crust. (And if you want one, Bar does a fresh greens salad with pear, blue cheese, and pecans to cleanse your apizza palate.) photo credit: Lisa Nichols There’s plenty of space to come in with a big group and have a bunch of pies set up on trays tableside—you’ll never feel cramped here. They also have lots of drink options, including their own house-brewed beers and fun cocktails. If you’re doing a whole New Haven pizza crawl, make this your last stop: There’s a full bar and live DJs Thursday through Saturdays at night. Food Rundown photo credit: Lisa Nichols Base Red Pie With Mozzarella This pie holds up well compared to the Wooster Street classics, with the bonus of not needing to wait in a long line to eat it. It comes out perfectly blistered and bubbled with just the right amount of char on the crust, and is easy to pick up and devour. No frills, no nonsense—just a great slice of apizza. photo credit: Lisa Nichols Mashed Potato & Bacon Scattered with globs of mashed potato, this has an entirely different consistency than a normal slice of pizza. But the weight can lead to different bites being different temperatures when digging in. That aside, the bacon bits sprinkled throughout make it loaded and savory. photo credit: Lisa Nichols Portrait Of New Haven Out of all the cities in the US, New Haven has the highest percentage of Italian-American residents, and that’s deliciously represented by this pie. A base of red sauce and mozzarella is thinly layered over homemade dough, topped with dollops of fresh ricotta, roasted red peppers, and sausage, and perfectly seasoned with basil and garlic. Order this if you’re looking to balance out one of the funkier pies on your tableside tray." - Chloe Zale & Holland White

Google
Super thin crust pizzas. We tried the famous/notorious mashed potato + bacon pizza. It was really yummy and scrumptious. (Should have ordered a small pie for two people; the medium is huge.) We also recommend the beers they make! The space itself is really cool. It’s divided into several rooms.

Google
Great beer, food and service. Conversation at the bar was great. They take care of you and make your visit better. On my list to come back again for more pizza because after this visit chain pizza just won't cut it.

We went there on a Thursday early evening and we were a party of 8. They were out of clams so they kind substitute it with shrimps which was really good. The salad was good. Seats were not comfortable and they only have indoor seatings. If you love really thin crust pizza this place will be perfect for you.

Google
Ordered the carnivore pizza which was huge for a small but very delicious and came out faster than I expected. Beer was a golden lager draft which was delicious. Service was fairly attentive and gotten busier as time continues on throughout the night. Good pizza in my first trip to New Haven

Google
Loved all the pizzas and pear gorgonzola salad. Got mashed potato and garlic pie, Margherita, and BBQ brisket. All delicious. My daughter said best brick over pie she has ever had. Def gove it a try. Cool vibe. The kick kids out at 9 and it becomes more of a bar/club.

Google
Went here with a party of 8(made a reservation). we got 4 pies to share. -Bbq Brisket (large) was very unique in flavor and we all loved it - just definitely very filling. -Cheese (large) good sauce to cheese ratio and might be my favorite cheese slice in new haven -Lobster roll (small) it was a special and i love lobster rolls so i had to try it. did not disappoint. -mashed potato sub broccoli (small) my sister is vegetarian and gets it without bacon and somehow still loves it. drink: disco ball absolutely delicious if i had no self control i would have a million of these

Tony Eats Pizza

Google
If you like ultra thin, then this is the place for you!!! Pizza had a great flavor and loved the vibe in there. We visited here as part of the Taste of New Haven Pizza Tour. Awesome place in the heart of downtown New Haven!

Google
Came for dinner. Very good home brewed lager. The pizza was cooked well in a mature brick oven. It was missing the mark though for a cheese pizza. The crust tasted good. The margarita pizza was just floppy

Yelp
BAR pizza seems to be a lot of people's favorites around here, so I ventured out today to taste it for myself! When you enter, there will be someone to greet you and ask you what you want. Since I wanted takeout, I was directed to walk straight past the stairs to the back and order at the counter. The staff were really friendly and told me to check back with them in 30 minutes. Luckily it was ready by then! I ordered a Small Red Pie with Mozzarella, with sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, meatball, and white clam. The crust was so thin, chewy, and not over-baked to the point of crunchiness at all! Dining area was very lively on a Saturday evening. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. When I left, there was a huge line that went past the restaurant front--a testament to how popular the place is.

Yelp
Does it really take 50 mins to make a pizza? Came here for a quick bite around 730pm. Got seated at 750pm. Ordered 2 small pizzas at 8pm and was told at 840pm that the pizzas were going in the oven and will take another 10 mins. Probably won't come back. This is ridiculous and not worth it.

Shu Jin S.

Yelp
We put our names on the waitlist, and went to a bar nearby to wait. It took about 45 minutes on a Saturday night to seat a table for 2. But let me just say, it was worth the wait. This place serves the most incredible pizza. The ambiance is casual brewery with spectacular pies. We ordered the mashed potato pie (because why not) and the regular cheese pie. At first, we thought, who puts mashed potato on a pizza? A genius. THAT'S WHO. Kudos to the chef. And the regular cheese pie was a dream. What's even more gluttonous is that my partner and I stacked the mashed potato pie slice over a regular slice and our minds were blown. It's hard to say if this is better than Modern or Pepe's. But I can say this is some of the best pizza I've eaten outside of Italy.

Brian F.

Yelp
Haven't dined here in a long time. That was my mistake. Holy cow, it was amazing. So much better than I remember. Went with a small red, no mozzarella with chicken and red peppers. WOW! Wife and kids loved their pizzas too. Salad was solid, love the pears, passed on the blue cheese. Family is now torn between Bar and Pepe's. Both are winners but I may favor Bar because of the thin crust. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of taking a mini tour around New Haven with a friend, testing a variety of the finest apizza establishments around the city. This was the second stop on our quest. I had looked around and heard from my friend that the mashed potato and bacon was the pièce de resistance here. So we ventured out in the rainy weather to try it. Staff was kind and prompt, and made sure we were taken care of. This pie is probably some of the best I've tasted in my life, and having lived in NY/NJ, I've had some goooodd slices in my life. The salt and umami + the cheese combo is just A plus. And the crust is perfectly charred and thin. I paired it with the BAR lager which was the perfect beer to go with the pizza. Compliments to the individual who came up with this. Additionally, the interior is stunning - large windows, moody lighting with lots of wooden accents, fermentation vessels and a lovely painting above the bar on the other room. I'm so sad I've slept on New Haven pizza this long. I will surely be back.

Emily G.

Yelp
Took my husband to BAR for the first time recently. We had to get the classic mashed potato pizza and some of their brews. The pizza is usually solid. Definitely the thinnest of the New Haven style and cut in rectangle slices. They have a great salad and they do it well. There is usually a wait, so be prepared. We were sat in the back room and were served quickly once we were sat. The room was big and the servers were nice. It's definitely a spot you need to hit!

Atheena B.

Yelp
AMAZING PIZZA! There are couple of favorite/classic pizza places in CT. We tried this on a whim and it was beyond amazing. We tried all the house classics and definitely try the Clam Casino and BBQ Brisket!! Depending on the time, you might have to wait for a bit. We were there on a Wednesday night and had to wait for 40 minutes before we got the table - but it was worth the wait!

Yelp
If you don't frequently visit New Haven, you probably only hit your one to three favorite pizza places when you're there. I have friends who spend a lot of time in New Haven, and their pizza roster is much deeper. Some of my most knowledgeable friends keep Bar in their plans for pizza (and beer). I've been to Bar, but before last weekend, it's probably been 20 years. My friends finally got in my ear about it. I walked in around 2 pm on a Saturday and the place was packed. I heard they had a large private party in the back. And the seating in the room to the left when you walk in was basically full. Bar had a very lively, fun and cool, large downtown bar atmosphere. I ordered a pizza to go and was told 30 to 40 minutes. I enjoyed a satisfying "You Juicin'" Hazy DIPA while I waited. My medium bacon, onion and sundried tomato with mozzarella was good. I tried two long rectangular strips why the pizza was still hot. The crust is very thin and had some char, but less char than many of the classic New Haven pizzas. The crust didn't have a lot of chew, but it did a good job of supporting the toppings. Of the toppings, the sundried tomatoes stood out. They were sweet and tart, and had the texture I love. The bacon was in small crispy bits. The onions were chopped and perhaps sautéed in butter. Maybe not, but they had that vibe. The red sauce wasn't really noticeable. The pizza had less melty, stretchy cheese than I prefer, which is understandable when the crust is this thin. This is a pizza combination I frequently order at some of my favorite places. This version was good, but doesn't make top tier for me. Bar is perhaps most famous for its mashed potato pizza. I suspect the best way to enjoy Bar is there, with a group of friends sharing a couple of large pizzas like the mashed potato, and sipping a house made IPA. My experience was good, and perhaps would have been better if I wasn't just getting takeout. Four Stars

Yelp
Best pizza in Connecticut. The mashed potato pizza always a fan favorite, but all pizzas have been good, prices seem fair given how large the pizzas are. Also with a large drink list, we've had fun staying for the club atmosphere as well. Never any issue with service , though it can get quite busy in the weekends.

Nissen W.

Yelp
Stopped for some New Haven a pizza! Of course we had to get the classic mashed potato bacon, but we split the pie and got half barbecue brisket! So good! My favorite is the mashed potato bacon but I loved the brisket as well!! The perfect mash up!

Lydia L.

Yelp
Mashpotato pizza was SO GOOD!!! I also love the ambiance of the place and it seems great for large groups. Also so fun how you eat dinner and then the restuarant turns into a club later. So fun!

Mk G.

Yelp
Love BAR! Food, service, atmosphere, location are all excellent. Whether you are eating in or taking out, the pizza & salad can't be beat. Location on Crown Street in heart of the city near lots of restaurants.

Jim B.

Yelp
Big space with indoor/outdoor seating and a bar. Great bar service. They make their own beers, which are decent. Pizza was really good.

Patrick B.

Yelp
BAR is known for their mashed potato & bacon pie. This came with mashed potatoes, bacon and we opted to add onions as well as the menu said they paired well. This pizza closely resembled a pierogi pie, and was definitely delicious. Everything worked well together and the onions were a great addition. This apizza is cooked in a natural gas brick oven, which is different from most of their bigger competition that use coal or oil to fuel their ovens. Because of that, their crust lacked some of the same flavor that we experienced from the other spots. The pie also didn't have the same level of char as the others, which we preferred to have as it led to a great crisp, with little flop. They also brew a few different beers in house, so I sampled their cherry sour which was very good. The vibe inside has more of a pub/bar feel and is a cool place to hang out and play a game of pool. This is a good place to check out and have a good time while visiting the city.

Emily S.

Yelp
Love this place !!!! Great pizza . Inside is beautiful and surrounding area is great to walk around , check out the museums .

Yelp
We had a great time at Bar on a Tuesday night. Our server, Rosie, was perfection always there whenever we needed anything and making sure that everything she brought us was satisfactory. I had a couple IPAs (Middle Child and another that I can't recall the name of). My friend had a couple mixed drinks. We had a large pizza (half Eggplant Parm and half Carnivore) and it was excellent. We could have finished it but my friend took a couple pieces home instead of us stuffing ourselves. For 2 guys the large is the right size. Anything smaller would not be adequate. It was pretty busy and a bit noisy but the staff managed everything very well and we had an excellent time catching up after a few years not being able to get together. I think we'll continue to meet up at Bar. There are a lot of other great spots nearby but it's hard to beat such an excellent establishment!

Sarah N.

Yelp
The pizza is always yummy here. I like the buffalo chicken, and the margherita is pretty good, too. The crust is thin, but sometimes it's too thin and gets a little soggy from the sauce. Other than that, I have no complaints! AMBIENCE: The restaurant itself is dimly lit so it can be hard to see at times, but it adds to the ambience. It does get pretty busy on Friday nights since it turns into a club. The club plays good music and is a fun time!

brianne b.

Yelp
One of the Great New Haven Pizza Spots! This is one of the pizza places you must try! Some of my favorite pies are mashed potato and brisket, clam pizza, and the various seasonal pizzas, including the Thanksgiving pie. Don't forget to check out their selection of beer which never disappoints. Not only is this a Restaurant, but it also can be a space for a Events, and at night turns into a club with a DJ. Additionally, if you're looking for a place that has a pool table, this one has a pretty decent one. The staff is very helpful and engaging.

Raquel T.

Yelp
This was my first time having New Haven pizza. Being from Florida, I didn't even know that was a thing. It was delicious! I wanted to order a simple pie since it was my first time so I got a red pie with mozzarella and pepperoni. Really good. The crust is a bit too charred for my liking. I prefer soft pizza crust but that's personal preference. I'd def return to try more adventurous toppings like the mashed potato pie.

Lauren B.

Yelp
If your question is, is the food good here, the answer is yes. If your question is, is this the best pizza in New Haven, my answer is I don't know I haven't had all the pizza in New Haven. I came here with a coworker to try the famous pizza pie. One thing we would have appreciated was a heads up HOW BIG everything was going to be. Luckily we had fridges in our hotel! One thing I didn't like was my cocktail. Some how my Paper Plane was weak and flavorless?? But it looked cute. The salad was delicious. My coworker doesn't normally like blue cheese and she even thought it was great! Our pizza was everything you want from a thin crust. Great flavor in the sauce, quality toppins, and a flavor explosion in your mouth. I would go back!

Yelp
(Last visited 11/21/2021.) After brunching at Barracuda in downtown New Haven we hung out for a while in the park, but now it's dinnertime and we're still here! Lol. My fiancée had mentioned visiting BAR back in her hay-day so she wanted to show me the ropes. Here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: This place has such a presence inside and out. It's a staple in the downtown New Haven area so this place was pretty busy. The ceilings are so high and it felt like there were too main sections to this restaurant. There was the left side which is the bar area and much more lively then there was the right area which was more toned down. The big garage doors that open right out to the sidewalk were closed since it was cold, but it looked so industrial inside which was a pretty cool touch. There were big beer vats kinda stationed around, but I'm unsure if they actually brew their own beer here. They must, right? It's definitely a place to come and party for sure! Service: We sat at the bar and Jerry was our bartender. He took excellent care of us. He was funny, had an uplifting personality and just was an all-around fun person to have. Food: So... we were here around the time of Thanksgiving and there were whispers of a "Thanksgiving Pizza". C'mon man. How can we not get this? Lol. BAR is known for their pizzas being thin, crispy and cooked "New Haven" style, so we went for it! This thing came out and it was huge. On it was pulled turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy then sprinkled with cranberry sauce. It was actually quite magical. I had never had anything like it before and I absolutely loved how all of the ingredients went together, like a plate of food that you cook home from a Thanksgiving. Value: The pizza was only $21.00 and I think that was an incredible value. I'm very interested in coming to check this place out in the future to see what some of their signature pizzas are all about!

Pash Lee L.

Yelp
The wait was a bit long but once we were seated we received excellent customer service our waitress was very personable and pleasant. We ordered 4 pizzas, two mashed potato bacon, one cheese and one marhgerita white sauce pizza. In my opinion and as my first time actually eating here ( I've been to the club parts when I lived in CT), I wasn't impressed by the super thin crust, it's literally cracker like and seems way too thin for the toppings. If you plan on going here just know that the only food the serve is pizza and salads that's it, nothing else. No appetizer's or anything like that. They only take reservations for a party of 8 or larger also. I'm glad I got to finally taste it though and see what all the fuss was about, but it's not my personal preference on pizza style. But just because it wasn't my cup of tea doesn't mean it won't be yours! :)

Yuri J.

Yelp
A fun "bar-style" dining experience. Waiters are accommodating and friendly and service was quick! Bar salad has pears, bleu cheese, pecans, cranberries and a lovely light vinaigrette that was delicious to eat with the pizza. Mashed potato pizza with bacon was to die for...so creamy from the potatoes but the bacon adds the flavor and the crisp. Clam pizza has peppers (can be spicy) and is LOADED with clam. I loved how thin the crusts are bc we are truly eating the pizza for the toppings here, not the dough. Def a must try when in New Haven.

Ocean A.

Yelp
Bar Brick Oven Pizza in New Haven offers a delightful dining experience with its house brewed beer and mouthwatering pizzas. Upon visiting, I ordered the medium portrait of New Haven house pie, which featured a red sauce crafted in house, adorned with mozzarella and ricotta cheese, house roasted red peppers, locally sourced Lamberti sausage, and fragrant basil and garlic, all atop their homemade dough. From the moment I stepped in, the service by Mario, was exceptional. The atmosphere exuded warmth and hospitality. The pizza itself was a masterpiece. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors, with the tanginess of the red sauce perfectly complementing the creaminess of the cheeses, while the Lamberti sausage provided a savory punch. The freshness of the ingredients was evident, especially in the robust flavor of the house roasted red peppers. What truly sets Bar Brick Oven Pizza apart is its commitment to quality and authenticity. The fact that they make their own dough and sauce in house speaks volumes about their dedication to crafting the perfect pie. Additionally, their house brewed beer selection adds another dimension to the dining experience, allowing patrons to enjoy a perfectly paired beverage with their meal. Definitely a must try!

Yelp
A must whenever visiting Connecticut. This pizza isn't like any other -- from their fresh and thin crust to their unique flavors such as the bacon and mash pizza everything here is just the perfect vibe. Located in New Haven between Yale, book stores, other local spots like coffee shops and restaurants, I highly recommend making your way over to BAR if you're looking to try New Haven pizza. I truly didn't even know that was a thing before, but the obsession is real, and now i make my way over every time I go to visit the fam. I usually get the margarita red pizza, we'll also get the classic cheese pizza and the bacon and mash potato. They all hit the spot and my favorite part is that it is so thin that you don't feel overwhelmed nor bloated afterwards. You can feel the freshness in their ingredients and the consistency. I haven't been here at night but i've heard the vibes are fun and perfect for a weekend hang out with friends.

Jingshu G.

Yelp
It is literally THE BEST pizza I've ever had! I found this place a few years ago because I went to school in Connecticut, but after graduation I barely could have chances to visit this place, but it's definitely worth a 2-hour drive from NYC! It's the one-of-a-kind pizza that I've never found in any other places. They bake the pizza dough just perfectly! I love the thin crust. My favorite toppings are brisket, ricotta and mushroom - I've never had brisket pizza anywhere else. Their bar salad was also amazing!!! The combined taste of blue cheese, spring mix vegetables and pecans is perfect. Bar was the best meal I've ever had in 2023 so far (and also my best meal in 2022). I gave it 5 stars because Yelp only has 5 lol. I would give it 10.

Michelle D.

Yelp
This is honestly some of the vest pizza I've ever eaten. I was in town for business and one of my coworkers recommended it. Wow. Great service, cool ambiance and amazing pizza. Go. Now.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Ugh this place was soooo good. The medium houses quite a lot, i think more than enough for two people. We had leftovers with 2 pizzas for five, enough for us to all have another slice a few hours later. I loved everything we got a lot. The crust was super crispy and had that delish wood burned char. If i had to rank it wld be 1. Clam (w that lemon on top.... Oooooh) 2. Mashed potato (i had to pick off the bacon but i still loved without) 3. Eggplant parm (loved this) 4. Taste of new haven (sans sausage, just simple and plain and good)

Rose C.

Yelp
Bar is my favorite place to bring friends from out of town for New Haven pizza. Besides having great pizza, and a really attractive, cool interior, their salad is excellent because of the combination of blue cheese and honey pecans. I love it. Even though they're known for their great beer collection, they also have a lot of signature cocktails. One of my favorite, never let me down, restaurants.

Vy H.

Yelp
I know Bar isn't considered one of New Haven's "premier" pizza joints but I enjoy them very much. I love their mashed potato pizza, they hit this one out of the park flavor wise. You would also think a mashed potato pizza would be really heavy and sink in your stomach but because the dough/crust are pretty light, I can gobble down half the pie before tapping out.

Peter H.

Yelp
Their apizza is great! We had a "medium" Portrait of New Haven ($32.50)... so large it covered an entire sheet tray and is probably enough for four. Seriously tasty, with the sweet peppers, sausage, and creamy ricotta combining well. - Would also recommend the house salad, where the $15 plate is shockingly large. - Their juicy double IPA ($8.50 for 16oz) is refreshingly citrusy. - We tried the cocktails ($12-14) Smoked Paper Plane and the Disco Ball but can't recommend them as highly. - The back room turns into a club! Whoa.

Brad M.

Yelp
Another bar hopping spot but sadly didn't enjoy the pizza which now we regret. Sat at the small bar in the brew room. There was two bartenders for a very small bar of maybe 8 people. So service wasn't hard to get.

Danielle K.

Yelp
My husband and I went out for a date night. We got there around 8:15 PM. The kitchen closes at 9 PM and they start charging entrance at 9 PM. The music starts at 10 PM. First of all they found a table up the stairs in this 3 foot section. Only two tables for two people in each. I'm afraid of heights, so it wasn't the greatest. It was very tight up there. The waiter had to keep coming upstairs to help us. But unfortunately, because he has tons of tables below us, we could not reach him. I did order the Mojito which I returned. It was very disappointing and I wouldn't recommend it. It just tasted like sugar water. The leaves were whole, and the lime was halved. no modeling happened at all. I did try the bar margarita which I liked a lot. It was very delicious and had a tart flavor. Which I prefer to full of sugar. My husband enjoyed the lemon martini which was on the sweet side, and the tequila Cosmo, which was also on the sweet side. Our pizzas were delicious. We got two small pizzas one cheese and one eggplant Parmesan. We both liked both of them. We decided to go dancing in the back room after dinner. So many people there we had a good time being together, however the music wasn't for us. Definitely recommend trying it out as New Haven Pizza is the best.

Lindsay S.

Yelp
I came here on Saturday around 4:30 (after seeing a matinee at the nearby Shubert Theatre) and there was not a long wait, but the line for a table was a lot longer by the time we left. I was impressed by a great selection of mocktails, which I didn't expect because they aren't on the website's menu. I had a cranberry rosemary mocktail that was tart and delicious. The salad was really good (greens with pear, caramelized pecans, and blue cheese). For pizzas, we got three medium pies for 6 people and had some leftovers. My favorite was the basil and garlic pizza. Service was great and the lights in the backroom give the place a cool vibe!

Matthew S.

Yelp
Now I can say I have tried the Father, Son, Holy Ghost, and the Pope of New Haven pizza. Is it a pub? A nightclub? A restaurant? A microbrewery? It might as well be all of the above! Suggesting that this the weakest of the four well known pizzerias in New Haven would be an understatement. They all are very good, to some degree. You just have to find the crevices in them to find which one is best. I got two pies, a standard mozzarella and their famed mashed potato pie, because the latter is incredibly popular here. The mashed potato pie, weird as it sounds, is delicious. However, after three slices, you realize why mashed potato and pizza do not go hand in hand. It makes you hit a wall, hard. Boy do you feel it. The mozzarella pie is delicious. Great sauce, good crust, and you get plenty of both in each slice. I could have easily finished this whole pie. I did not like how both pies cool real fast. Like only after a minute after it hits the serving table it is already cooling. Cold pizza is something I do not enjoy. If you are looking for something to eat with a group, this works well, especially for those poor Yale college students.

Cinthia K.

Yelp
Finally came here for the first time a few months ago when we happened to be in the area. We didn't have to wait too long for a table, but I imagine there being significant lines on weekend nights and such. We decided to get their signature potato pie and we got a few beers off of their pretty sizable draft list. Their signature potato pie was delicious and well worth getting. We got it with broccoli instead of bacon, so I'm not sure how the latter would taste, but the former was amazing. Would definitely recommend for others to try out if they happen to come here as well.

Nh K.

Yelp
Wouldn't hear the end of it from my co-workers and friends about Connecticut pizza, so I went here with my partner! We ordered to go, thus I can't fully comment on the service; however, the person helping us was nice :) Chill bar vibes! Can see myself mingling/socializing here once in awhile. Ordered the following dish: - Small Portrait of New Haven pizza Toppings were really flavorful and fresh! Supple, soft cheese paired well with the hearty sausage. However, the pizza crust wasn't really my jam? Felt too thin/flimsy... still a good experience to try at least once overall! Very interested in their mashed potato pizza... may come back again some day :3 portion felt large even though we only ordered a small, but the size fits for the price (~$25)

Yelp
My friends love this place and insisted on going as we were in the area. It was my first time. So to be fair, I'm not a fan of pizza at all (it's basically a sandwich). I also don't like cheese, so this place was never going to be for me. However, our waiter was great. She said I know just what to get you. I think it was the bbq brisket (without cheese) and it was great.

Yelp
Great place. I was invited for a dinner here so I didn't take any pictures but the beers were good. They also have an option for a salad, so you can get a salad for the table to share. They have really huge pizzas. I definitely would recommend the pizza with mash potatoes on there, it definitively unique. Service was great and the place had a lot of seating options.

Yelp
My go-to pizza spot, especially if any friends are visiting from out of town! I've been here several times now and the pizza, drinks, ambiance, and service never disappoint. In terms of the pizza, I love how the crust is consistently super thin and crispy, and the pies come out piping hot. It can get a little pricey depending on the ingredients and size - the seasonal lobster pie cost around $40 this summer. My favorite pie is the eggplant parm with ricotta. If you eat pork, the mashed potatoes with bacon is a must try - the potatoes are super creamy and are perfect with the crisp bacon and crust! There's an extensive list of house-brewed beers that are seasonal as well. Definitely don't forget your ID since they check at the door.

Yelp
I've returned here a few times and also gotten take-out and catering from here. Always a reliable option for great pizza in New Haven. Their salad is also awesome - I LOVE the candied walnuts and feta cheese combo. They also have a few cocktails for those not super into beer!

Yelp
Solid New Haven style pizza without the wait. We tried Pepe's first, but I'm just not the type of person who will wait on an hour plus line for food. It's not going to happen. So, it's not likely that I'll be trying Pepe's. BAR has a better ambiance anyways. Lots of outdoor beer garden style tables and a full drink menu. On a nice day this was the perfect place to enjoy some pizza and a beer. The menu isn't huge - you're there for pizza. In fact, I think the only other item on the menu is a house salad. Pizza ranges from classic to fun toppings like mashed potato and of course, clam. You can order in a variety of sizes. We tried the plain and the sausage ricotta. l wish the pizza was a little hotter and crispier, but it was still really delicious. Perfectly crispy with a nice crunch and a tasty red sauce. We washed everything down with watermelon beers which were crisp and refreshing. For beer and New Haven apizza in a fun ambiance you absolutely cannot go wrong. I just wish the bathroom had a baby changing table. I'm always confused when spots that seem family friendly (AKA a pizza restaurant) don't! In any case, solid 'za.

Yelp
Super fun dance floor, amazing set up and lighting, great DJ. Other side of the place is a pizza place that's got fast and great slices. One lowlight was the coat check person, who harassed my group about tipping and I'm pretty sure intentionally spat on my jacket.

Yelp
I love BAR pizza. Unique pizza options to choose from. Great drinks and music. And the place turns into a nightclub scene on the weekends. Service is friendly and chill. My favorite pizza is the mashed potato and bacon pizza, nothing short of amazing! I can't recommend this pizza enough - it's a must-try for any pizza enthusiast! Also, sell single gigantic New York style slices.

Yelp
This place is always a must visit when I go home for the holidays. Mashed potato pizza is amazing & this time I decided to try the elote one as well. The lemon & crush hot cheetos on top were amazing! The holiday sugar cookie espresso martini was perfect as well! The server was quick and sweet, and the decor was so cute.

Yelp
Fantastic spot for nightlife. There's several areas to this place. We mostly hung out in the main bar area and drank before going to the dance area. Our bartender was awesome and he was really personable. The dance area lights are actually pretty spectacular and visually stunning. Music was great and the dance floor got packed! We are in our mid 30s and were trying to keep up with the college kids lol! Also a plus, they have a coat check.

Yelp
I've only been to Bar once years ago and it's a pretty cool spot. Mostly because of the cool little chill spot tables they have up inside cut outs in the walls. It's a cool place to go with a few close friends and just relax and hangout at one of those cubby tables. Just make sure that everyone with you is capable of getting up from low places if you go there for these neat tables. They have other stuff upstairs but I don't remember what exactly. Anyway, I recommend giving it a try at least once to check it out.

Yelp
I've had BAR on my list for over a year and I finally got to try this famous New Haven style pizza place. Our server Bella was amazing! She made some great recommendations and we ended up choosing the mashed potato and bacon pizza and the bbq brisket pizza. Highly recommend the brisket pizza!! The food and drinks were great, however the setup is a little weird. We sat outside and they place the pizzas on metal trays beside the tables. This was a bit annoying because random people who walk on the sidewalk constantly walk pass your food. Our trays were close to falling on the ground a few times. Next time we'll probably skip outdoors and grab a seat inside. Overall really solid place!

Yelp
Not sure how I managed to never been to BAR, but finally fixed that oversight. And so glad I did. That menu is amazing. We had half clam casino/half potato pizza. And half red pie with sausage and jalapeños/half eggplant parm pizza. All mouthwatering! And they carry vino verde (Portuguese wine) which I love. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Best apizza in New Haven! Way better than the burnt Pepe's or the just above average Modern. Excellent beer and a fun dance floor too.
