"Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises has recently opened a few restaurants in Fulton Market, but Chicago’s largest restaurant group has hardly forgotten its River North base. Tonight, the Melmans open Bar Ramone, the company’s first wine bar. They’ve taken over the former Bottlefork space and will serve small bites from LEYE partner/chef Doug Psaltis (RPM) and chef Hisanobu Osaka (Japonais, Intro Chicago). It’s a Spanish-heavy menu with skewered pintxos, jamon, cheeses, and seafood. The snacks are meant to pair with the wine, but diners could build a meal, especially with a 12-ounce beef ribeye as the heartiest item on the menu. The wine list, put together by Ryan Arnold and Richard Hanauer, is deep. The priciest bottle is a 2015 pinot noir from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti that costs $995. Wines from the French vineyard are difficult to find, leaving collectors running to auctions to purchase older vintages. More affordable bottles are also available, so novice drinkers shouldn’t be too intimidated. The space’s layout remains the same, with the bar remaining intact. They’ve lightened the place by removing the dark woods. The space appears a little wider than the predecessor. It’s first come, first serve. Walk through the bar and glance at the menus below. Hey ho, let’s go: Bar Ramone opens tonight." - Ashok Selvam

"Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises’ first wine bar isn’t named after the venerable ‘80s punk rock band. But the Melmans want to make at least make one of those 24 hours to go a happy one. They’re offering $7 glasses of wine and $5 select pintxos." - Ashok Selvam

Very flavorful food! A lot of your dishes will have lots of different tastes all in one bite if you pay attention which I love. Portions are small unfortunately and so don't expect to leave on an empty stomach unless you're willing to spend around $150 or more. That being said, I'm a big man so maybe it'll be less for you! Regardless, my dish recommendation would have to be the Pork Belly Skewers and the Rice with Salted caramel dessert. Holy cow were those two dishes absolutely amazing. Please do yourselves a favor and order these two things minimum!

This place definitely gets a spot on the repeat list. Top-notch food and excellent service come together to make this a wonderful gem that won't leave your wallet groaning. While I'm not much of a cheese connoisseur, my girlfriend was very impressed by their cheese platter. Everything hit the right mark and the salmon tartar was our favorite of the night. Our server was very friendly and the wine staff had all the answers to our questions.

This place is the best!!! The service was outstanding. Even though it was very busy on a Friday night, the staff was smiling and very friendly. Amazing service from the host, the bartender and server. The cocktails are delicious. The dishes are small and shareable, and full of flavor. We loved our experience. Highly recommend!!

I didn’t know that I was missing Spanish wines and pintxos in my life until I stopped in for dinner/happy hour last night. Amazing happy hour offerings plus a solid regular menu with an overwhelming number of wines available. Crispy artichoke pintxos and pan con tomate with jamon Serrano were my favourites of the night.

Unbelievable service and absolutely amazing food. Went for restaurant week and it was a fantastic deal, wine pairings included! But the food was fantastic and the service was incredible. Can't wait to go again.

Excellent experience. Service a little slow but not a problem for us. They are just finding their bearings. We'll definitely be back. Great wine, cocktails, service & food. Beautiful space.

Awesome bar and restaurant. The host was very welcoming and nice! The waitress was patient with us and gave great suggestions for vegetarians as it was our first time there. We ended up getting the spicy potatoes, toasted goat cheese, and the tomatoes with olive oil, amazing food. We also had wine and sangria. Highly recommend!
