Bar Rosina’s Review - Fairfield County - The Infatuation

"You could just get a pasta dish or a pizza from Bar Rosina’s in Greenwich, but you’d be doing it wrong. The path to success at this Italian restaurant is to order as many of their appetizers as you can fit on your table. Most of them are covered in a thick blanket of pecorino romano—you’ll get a strong whiff of cheese every time a waiter walks by. Make sure to prioritize some of the less conventionally Italian small plates, like the fried long hot peppers drizzled with labneh, and the burrata toast topped with strawberries, hazelnuts, and a savory brown butter sauce that complements the sweet, creamy dish. If the weather’s nice, ask to sit outside on their cute patio with string lights. The spacious indoor dining room is also great for a big group dinner, especially one with any of your Westchester friends—it’s located one block from the New York border. photo credit: Sam Schwab" - Ciera Velarde

Really liked it here! We got the focaccia and potato croquettes to start, both were excellent. Then shared a pizza and pasta dish. The service was also very attentive- we would definitely come back!

HANDS DOWN THE BEST ITALIAN IN THE RYE, PC, BYRUM AND GREENWICH AREA! I travel all over and found Bar Rosina on a trip to NY. Vibe is great and sitting at the bar with a fantasticly made martini made it even better. Friday and Saturday at the bar are great post work times. Bartender is amazing and knows the drinks and menu well. Had my first of 4 meals at the bar. While hanging had the opportunity to meet Jarred the Chef. Great guy who knows his stuff. He makes the best pasta I have tasted in the East Coast to date - more later. Appitizers: Get the Focaccia! GET IT. Now try the red spread - it's crack for bread. Soooo Goood! Brussel Sprouts are 10/10 and so tasty. Had some Prosciuitto di Parma (Black Label) which was fantastic! Meatballs were solid and Chicken Cutlet was thin, crisp and worked well with the fresh lemon. Shrimp Oreganata was good in a white sauce that had depth. While I love Octopus I did not love this version. It's a little different. Pasta. If you get only one pasta, and you can share it, get the MALLOREDDUS. Hands down my top 3 pastas ever. SOOOOO GOOOD. Have had it a few times now and it hits on every level. Pasta noodles are fantastic and chewy as they should, shrimp (which are really prawns) are soft and tasty. The white sauce is soo flavorful and packed with lemon and a touch of heat (calabrian). Finally the breadcrumbs bring everything together in a magical way. THIS IS THE SHIT! The Pappardele is your second choice. Good, solid, redsauce with great fresh noodles. Seating inside is good. A little loud when busy in front section, so maybe ask for the rear section. Never sat outside as it was very hot and muggy when I was here, but it's small and looks good. Can't say enough good things about this find of a place. I bought friends and they raved about it. Go. It's soo worth it.

The food is excellent. No complaints. I appreciated the appetizers were brought out in advance of the entrees. Unless you’re in a rush, that allows for ample conversation and food to digest. The ambiance including the outdoor patio was very nice. You still felt like you’re in the restaurant despite being technically outside. The price is on par with other places. Food prices have gone up everywhere, can’t complain about that. Well priced for the quality of food. The staff was also friendly and not overbearing. The negative which is big. Our party was a party of five with reservations, and they sat us at a table of 4. Extremely uncomfortable. That is a big no no, because it ruins the entire experience and night out. It tells me, you rather not lose a seat for a table of six so you don’t care about squishing 5 grown adults into a table that is normal for 4. The fifth person can’t get their legs underneath or can’t simply be comfortable. Makes you feel undervalued and now I will not go back despite the great food.

Google
I had an early dinner at Bar Rosina’s on Mother’s Day. The restaurant did not disappoint! We had the Arugula Salad, so light and delicious. I tried the Buratta Appetizer this time, it was phenomenal, love the fresh peas on it with micro greens and more. But my most favorite was the chicken cutlet app. So thin, crispy, not greasy, great flavor and oh so tender! Can’t wait to go back!! The outside patio is a secret little Enchanting spot!! 👏🏻♥️

Google
I’ve been back here countless times since my first time about 4 years ago. The chicken cutlet on the appetizers is a staple. The pastas are all hand made and delicious. Get the olive oil cake for dessert

Google
The food here was fantastic! Awesome drinks and wine list too. Everything is made in house with a clear passion for food. We ordered a lot, and everything was absolutely delicious. Assuredly take your aunt that claims to not have had a good meal since her anniversary dinner at Marchies. Confidently bring friends who want tasty food, great drinks, and good vibes. 10/10.

Google
I’m willing to say that was the BEST eggplant rolatini I’ve ever had! The chicken scarp was DIVINE! I can’t wait to go back and try 3 more things!!!

Google
We brought in a great dinner from Rosina’s today. The food was amazing. Fresh and delicious tasting. And unfortunately they forgot one important item in the order and they were so kind to deliver that item to my house. Thank u Rosina’s.

Yelp
This has been on my radar.... Finally got there! My cosmo was excellent! We had the arancini, which was very good. The margarita pizza was cooked to perfection!! We then split the Rigatoni. Which had great flavor, just a little al dente for me. Didn't stop me from eating it!! I know the restaurant was very busy, and service was great, just the acoustics were very loud! Will return!

Yelp
We reserved a high top and were seated with several others in a sparse area between bar and main restaurant seating. Nice ambiance overall. Negronis were excellent. Pizza was ok - tasted like there was sugar in the sauce which is a big no for an Italian. The chicken was very good and the cacio e Pepe was authentic. Overall a very good experience and we'll definitely return.

Yelp
This is my second time visiting Bar Rosinas and I am just so impressed with the food! The quality and taste is amazing and not to mention the portions are huge! My first visit we ordered a bunch of appetizers and each were so good! The chicken cutlet and the burrata are my favorites. We also split the rigatoni and a pizza. YUM! The second visit we had our Christmas party for the company. Made reservations since it was holiday season. We started again with appetizers, the burrata is still amazing and the meatballs were so full of flavor. The eggplant rollatini was good but not mind blowing. I got the rigatoni again. The service was great and attentive. Highly recommend this spot! Great parking in the back of the restaurant so you don't have to fight for street parking.

Yelp
Spectacular place. Food and service incredible. Pictures say it all. Margaritas pie was fantastic. Pepperonii pie the same. The burger was the best.

Yelp
A fantastic restaurant where you walk in and immediately feel at home. The attention to detail is everywhere, from the precisely prepared food to the attentive service. Bar Rosina's is a place I dream about now. Our go to restaurant and first recomdation for a date night, family outing, or getting together with friends. You have to try it for yourself!

Yelp
Cute restaurant with nice outdoor patio area. Menu had lots of good choices, making it very hard to pick just a few things. The Mona Lisa drink was amazing and had all the flavors I love. ARANCINI was slightly spicy and very tasty. Crispy potatoes were cooked to perfection. The rigatoni tastes very fresh, and while it wasn't very spicy, it had great flavors. Prices were a little high, but I feel like the quality matched. Service was really good as well, and checked in frequently. Really enjoyed my experience here and want to come back to check out some more menu items!

Dana K.

Yelp
Wonderful evening sitting outside. Service was good. The food was excellent. The focaccia bread was amazing. Very big salads. We shared a pizza which we loved. Will return soon

Yelp
This is my second time at Rosina's- the first time was my anniversary which was a pretty late dinner, a lot of the things that we wanted they were out of so we got other food items- we decided to come back again since the food was good the first time at a somewhat earlier time. As soon as we walked in- we were greeted by someone (not sure if manager?) regardless very attentive staff even on a busy Friday night. We decided to sit outside- such a great vibe. Our waitress was very attentive, food came out at great times. The drinks were strong as well!! Which i am very passionate about haha I don't really understand the rating they have? But Rosina's is fireee!

Abbie C.

Yelp
Awesome ambience. Yummy food! Great service! Cute place, excited to come back Focaccia was a favorite, delicious. Rigatoni and chicken cutlet were both great and even better when paired together. I didn't love the tomato & onion pie but my boyfriend did, so I think that was just a personal take. 5 stars! woo

Yelp
I went there for valentine's day. The menu is not big nor for those avoiding cholesterol or cheese but my husband, who is, found great options there! The staff was super sweet, the ambiance was really nice and not stuffy but upscale. The cacio e pepe was divine and i ate the entire bowl. The broccolini was also really good.

Yelp
Amazing food but horrible service/ manager !!! My mom and I have been here a few times and went again for my birthday. They sat us in a corner booth in the main dining area. At first there was no one in the restaurant because we went at an off time but eventually a large birthday party came in with 3 young children. Out of the whole entire restaurant, the waitstaff sat the party directly next to us. It was extremely uncomfortable at how close we were sitting next to them and both my mom and I and the mother of the children were uncomfortable. They immediately began ordering so it was hard to say anything at first. When the manager came out my mom went up to speak to him about the situation saying how it was ridiculous how we were smushed in the corner next to a large birthday party. The manager (Coby) was extremely arrogant and dismissive of my mom. The only thing he suggested was that we can move seats but by that point we had already finished our food. After that neither our waiter or the manager came out of the kitchen and the busser got us our bill/ to go containers. Sadly won't be returning!

Yelp
Very highly recommend! 4.5/5 We moved to Connecticut 6 weeks ago from Manhattan and have been searching for our new go-to restaurant. There seems to have been a bit of a buzz about Rosinas so we were excited to go and we're not disappointed. Food 4.5/5 We ordered the house salad, rigatoni, spicy shrimp pasta and the Chicken Scarp. The house salad was simple..but so much flavor. The shrimp pasta was great...but is definitely spicy so choose only if you love the burn like we do. The chicken scarp I had never heard of...but as we learned is also called "shoemakers chicken" think of the best roast chicken punctuated with spicy sausage, potato and peppers. I took a chance and LOVED IT. Again simple ingredients treated with respect. Service 5/5 our server was great, Carlos behind the bar made a great cocktail and provided even better advice on what to get and even the chef, owner both came over to check in. Experience 5/5 Rosinas is a cool space that felt like a combination of NYC Dante and your favorite local. Seating was comfortable and well spaced. We will definitely be back, are excited to try new things...and looking forward to what else Carlos, Coby and Jared recommend.

Yelp
Pepperoni pizza was ok, just way to salty and expensive. My heart rate went up to 220 for about 2 hours after eating the entire pizza whereas usually it hovers around 180. Sorry my insides just cant handle that kind of grease and pep pep!
google avatar

Yelp
The food was amazing, server was very attentive. Meatball Pizza was best I've had in the area. Ambiance was very warm and inviting. I will definitely come back.

Yelp
I'm sometimes leery to give a stellar review to my go to place cause I don't want to let the secret out. Then I won't be able to get a table! Rosina's is the real deal. The chef cares, you can tell this with literally every dish. From homemade pastas to the pizzas. All the pasta dishes are delicious. They're not huge portions, but pretty rich and filling. The pizzas are thin crust Neapolitan style and look like wood fired but don't think they are. There are only a handful of entrees but they are all rock solid. The silly thing on the desert menu is the gelato priced at only $3 it just doesn't make financial sense not to get it, lol. Please don't tell anyone I told you.

My Personal Experience R.

Yelp
The food was god AWFUL. Highly disappointing in the food and service. Avoid avoid avoid like the plague. So many better options around town. If I could give a zero star I would.

Yelp
Delicious food ! Wonderful experience . Went here for a birthday dinner and can't wait to go back to try the rest of the menu

Yelp
Bartender was friendly takeout hostess followed me around & stood by me at bar till I paid which I found to be quite annoying! Just ordered salad & meatballs salad was wilted meatballs were sub par extra sauce ordered $2 for little salad dressing containers was on par with cheap store bought sauce! They need to look at history when it was "That Little Italian Restaurant" home made bread etc. Is this place just a tax write off or do they want to provide great food to customers?
google avatar

Davina C.

Yelp
This is the third or fourth restaurant I have been to at this location. I don't know why the previous ones closed because they were very good. I have to say that our dinner dining experience here was so-so. Overall, the food was quite salty. We had the margherita pizza, arancini, broccolini, brussel sprouts, and cavatelli pasta. My favorite was the pizza because the crust was delicious!! It's the only reason I would go back there again. We sat outdoors which is pretty. They have a lot of seating indoors.
google avatar

Meghan Sarah J.

Yelp
The food is so flavorful! You can just order appetizers and be totally content. The eggplant roll stink is a must and they have such an array of beverage options. I wish service was a bit more paced out when it came to getting food to the table. The experience feels incredibly rushed/ dash and dine.. which ruins the experience but that is so minor compared to how good the food is!

Anthony A.

Yelp
My wife and I are locals and Rosinas is simply the best Italian restaurant in Westchester and Fairfield county. I always order the chicken scarp, with it's crisp skin, tender chicken inside, sausage, potato and a light sauce that's to die for. I also had their new homemade cavatelli dish last night (sweet fenel sausage, broccolini, bianco sardo, and chilis) that made my taste buds dance. Coby always welcomes you with a smile and treats us like family. Drew and the wait staff were absolutely fantastic and where else does the chef and owner (Jared) take time out of the kitchen to check in and ask how your experience is and talk about how and where his fresh ingredients are sources. And the kicker is, the experience and the food is always consistently excellent here. Salute Jared, Coby and Frank!

Alejandra E.

Yelp
I was there tonight to go try them and when me and my husband went in we wanted to sit at the bar, I had asked two ladies to see if they can move a seat over and the bar tender was like no wait there are seats that are coming free so I stand there for about 10 minutes and the bar tender was go to the other side by there was only one seat available, I fell like he didn't care and the service that kept as expecting was not there, so me and hubby decided to go somewhere else to spend our money. We had just came finished having dinner at Saltare down the street which it was just perfect and the serivice was top notch so go there instead. We were referred by friends of ours to come here but it's a NO for me and my husband. The bar tender didn't even try I didn't get his name but he had a beard and very very none caring at all. Please if you are the owner you should train your staff.

Yelp
We went for Mother's Day and had a fabulous meal. We returned the next week with a friend and had a mediocre meal. The gnocchi we had on Mother's Day was savory and beautifully spiced ... this time??? Boring and common. On the either hand the house salad is delicious. the Brussels sprout out of this world and the tartufo dessert also .out of this world. The coffee was weak and tasteless. It must have been just a bad night because the place was packed with local families who were all eating with delight. I'll be back!

Yelp
It's time here and was nice atmosphere, great drinks and delicious food. Bit pricey but seems like everywhere is

Yelp
we had a great night out with family on 6-23. Party of 7. A drink at the bar- then dinner upstairs. A tad noisy, but great apps/ entrees and drinks/ wine.Server was wonderful. Can't wait to go again. Cozy/ friendly place. A resounding 5. BTW made an incorrect post for this recently. Gave a 5 for food, a 5 for service and a 4 for ambiance ( the noise ). But somehow my fat fingers hit a 1 for overall review. My Bad. Bill Miller White Plains
google avatar

Gregory S.

Yelp
Overpriced and REALLY bad service. Dined recently as a group of four. Drinks were 'creative' but overpriced compared to peers. More downs than ups with regards to the food. For our group, more hype than quality. Won't return. ADDING TO REVIEW ABOVE: I noticed there was a comment from the manager to my review which for some reason always makes me suspect, so I looked at some of the comments this mgr has made to others and they are REPULSIVE. See the comment he/it made to Sybil S. from Chappaqua - really disgusting for an owner to direct towards a paying customer. That is how you treat a customer? And the review and comments toward Danielle C. from the Bronx - wow, just wow. Something is very very wrong here IMHO! Are they your customers or your enemies? LOL
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
1. Their pizza is honestly a contender with New Haven pizza (and I ordered delivery). 2. Cutlets were delicious, not too thin, perfectly crispy, and flavorful + paired with the cacio e pepe *chefs kiss* Absolutely come here, this food is one of the best options in Fairfield County. And remember, this is currently 3.5 stars in GREENWICH , FAIRFIELD COUNTY. Similar to a vampire yearning for blood - the rich, bored folk that reside here have an INSATIABLE desire to belittle service workers, au pairs, restaurants etc. (Translation: This place is better than its rating). It is pricy though. But again, it's Greenwich. What did you expect?
google avatar

Linda T.

Yelp
A lot of buzz about this restaurant mainly because of the chef. They've taken a creative approach to your typical Italian dishes and absolutely nailed it. Me and my girlfriend finally got there last week and we still talk about how amazing the food was. I've been telling everyone about this place and I'm bringing more friends tonight. Its lively and fun atmosphere is exciting and makes you wanna get all dolled up. The service was great. Also, rare to dream about Brussel sprouts but I literally dreamt of them...try them, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Our group of four had a fabulous dining experience on a Saturday night. Food was delicious and the service was great. We had the burata appetizer, broccolini, crispy potatoes, osso bucco and several kinds of pasta. The stand out to me was the burata appetizer. My husband raved about the osso bucco which was tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. For dessert shared the bambolino which was good but could have used a touch more of Nutella. We will definitely be back! Recommend!

Melissa S.

Yelp
Great cocktails. Delicious and favorable food. We came here for the first time last night. The ambiance was chill with great music. The staff was so friendly and the bartenders made some great cocktails.

Michael B.

Yelp
Great food, loved the pizza and the breaded chicken. Good atmosphere and ambience, a bit loud though. Limited parking.

Lex D.

Yelp
Horrible experience that could have been overlooked, but how we were treated could not be. Dinner meals came out 1 hour & 10 minutes after appetizers were finished (waited only 25 mins for apps). We asked about the food twice and were clearly upset. Waitress never came back either time to update us & seemed to be actively avoiding us. When the food finally did come out it was not good and waitress never came to apologize or ask us how everything was. Could hardly track her down for the check. The pasta was drenched in sauce and Parmesan cheese coated thickly on top, should have been called a soup. The tomato & onion pie came with full cloves of garlic covering the pie, the menu did not have garlic as an ingredient, it was also coated in oregano, making it inedible. The gnocchi was so spicy it could not be consumed. I ordered a Pinot noir without looking at the drink menu thinking it would be around the average $12 a glass. Boy was I in for a surprise, 80% of the wines by glass are $20 or more. The only Pinot noir by the glass was $25. Huge disappointment for my moms birthday dinner, we never ever skip dessert, and unfortunately had to while out celebrating a birthday due to horrible service, annoyance at this point, and fear of it just being not good.

Yelp
This place is really, really good. I live in Manhattan and come to Greenwich to visit my in-laws. This place easily rivals the Italian in NYC. Good drinks, good food, good vibes. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Not sure yet. The ambiance was great. Attentive staff. Def fun. But the menu was limited and overpriced. The Burrata was just weird. Barely any burrata. It was covered in nuts and way too sweet. Had another cheese on top of the burrata but all masked the fresh burrata cheese. Really can't call it that. The chicken scarpiello lol was just ok. Lacked spice. The pizza was very good and if we go back we will stick with that. $17 for a salad. Most appetizers were $19 and up. But the real expense is in the drinks. A glass of wine was $15-17 for bottles that only retail for $25. Not sure we can afford to go back. Lots of other wonderful Italian restaurants in the area. Hope the add to the menu some more reasonable appetizers and wines.

Junko T.

Yelp
I just ordered from this establishment and I am very disappointed in the taste and quantity that the food comes in when you order it online. The picture below is the portion you get for ordering a Pappardelle for $35. The taste is fine but not the greatest I've eaten but beyond all the portion is unbelievable. This doesn't even fill the container to full and doesn't even fulfill you when you finish it. The other pasta portions were the same when we ordered it. I wouldn't recommend going here if you're hungry and don't want to get ripped off for their price to portion. It would be safe to say that I won't be ordering from again till they fix their portion size.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Meh. To be fair I'm picky about Italian food, but this was a highly disappointing and expensive meal. Out with a girlfriend, we chose 4 different appetizers - the raviolo, focaccia, burrata and the arancini. The edges of the single signature raviolo were hard and undercooked, and the promised truffle topping was barely there - if at all - buried under a mountain of parm. The focaccia was fluffy and tasty, but pre-Covid this would have come gratis with the meal instead carrying a $12 price tag. The burrata tasted slightly sour which is the opposite of its usual creamy, lush texture. The worst of the bunch was the arancini - 4 flavorless rice balls of gnuja atop an unrecognizable thick white cream sauce. I never write reviews, let alone bad reviews, but this spot needs to step up their Wed game. Granted I didn't try the pizza or pasta but not sure it's worth the effort or the funds to return.

Anthony F.

Yelp
Excellent food, get the Cesar salad, veal and pasta with side of long hots. The service was good not great, would of liked the waitress to come to the table more servers were great! The ambiance was nice but the music was so loud we couldn't here are selfs talking to each other.

N R.

Yelp
Terribly disappointed. Myself and one other customer in restaurant and 100% used yesterdays leftovers. Ordered 3 apps and a pizza and all came out very quickly and room temperature and under, nothing was hot and fresh. Most definitely reheated yesterdays leftovers - if you want to call it that. Broccolini soaked in oil - a full plate submerged in oil. Octopus and potatoes cold. Pizza cold. I saw pictures of chicken cutlets having two per order and we had one cutlet pounded so paper thin. Almost impossible to cut through, my fingers and hands quite literally hurt from cutting. There is no way my girlfriend would have been able to cut it, so I did it for her. Asked if they could add shaved truffle to cacio Pepe which they said was no problem and sever fake shaved truffle and attempted to charge 25 for it. I can't even call it truffle b/c it was fake! If you do a simple search they do sell imitation truffle. It didn't even remotely have a taste, smell, texture of truffle. Zero exaggeration at all, not even 1%, a complete fraud. I didn't want any dessert, however, my girlfriend did so we selected two scoops of "gelato"! I knew right away it was fake when arrived with whipped cream. Hello!! That's not gelato, that's called ice cream. They served chocolate and vanilla ice cream. The only potion of meal produced well was the bolognese. The service was some well too. I should have complained about the entire meal, but I couldn't restrain myself from informing them of the fake truffle, which they comped. When you're spending shy of 200 for a meal this is not acceptable at all.

Yelp
People will tell you the restaurant scene in westchester / Greenwich is great. But that's only true if you've never lived in the city. Moving from the city back to the suburbs can be a culinary shock. But Rosina's will impress even the most jaded city transplant. Rosina's is not just great for this area..it's great by any measure. The food is excellent, the service is excellent, the ambiance is excellent, the drinks are excellent, the owners are excellent...it's excellent. Go eat here.

Caitlin C.

Yelp
This place looks amazing and the food on Instagram looked spectacular. The sad thing is that the actual taste was horrible! Everything was so salty we couldn't even eat it. Great service and drinks but terrible inedible food. So sad cause it had so much potential but the owner didn't make it right either which was unprofessional
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food and friendly welcoming service. Can't wait to go back to try more delicious dishes.

Yelp
So much love went into Rosina's. Delicious food and gives you that "family meal" feel. Love love love

Nikki A.

Yelp
the service is INCREDIBLE. Kaitlin was my server and she was excellent, memorized EVERYTHING. and just was the most amazing. Colby was also an incredible manager, watching from the side lines, he made sure every table was satisfied and happy. I definitely recommend this authentic italian resturant.

Yelp
This is the most amazing Italian restaurant on the east coast. No one can compare their handmade pastas. So many people are are raised on boxed pasta. But once you have handmade you can never look back. Only a true Italian and I mean from the other side will understand. The Chicken Scarp was out of this world as is the Branzino, the meatballs and everything on the menu. We continue to go with plenty of people. The service is always amazing to match the food. We go for dinnet and for brunch. Amazing if I could give it 10 stars I would.

Yelp
Yum Yum & Yum! Veal Chop is insane in the BEST way! Bar Rosina's should be on your short list for a dinner out!

Lisa M.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Service was amazing! I would definitely go back again. We had the margarita pizza, house salad and Brussels sprout appetizer. I especially loved the Brussels sprouts and salad. We sat outside and the atmosphere was quite pleasant.

Karen S.

Yelp
So happy to have stumbled upon Rosina's! My husband and I loved everything we ordered. The beat salad was delicious, the chicken cutlet was pounded perfectly thin and seasoned great. The meatballs were fantastic and the pasta was perfect. Keep in mind that the chicken and the meatballs were both appetizers and totally enough for one person to eat as meal. The servers were very pleasant and helpful and we can't wait to go back. On a warm day, the outdoor seating is going to be the best!
