The 10 Best Pintxos In San Sebastián’s Old Town

"There’s a TV to watch La Liga at this bar, but sports aren’t why you come here—it’s the wide variety of cold and hot pintxos that range from simple to noticeably gourmet. The bartenders fill rows of glasses with fizzy cider as you point out what delicious thing on the bar you’d like first.  The gildas with a triple briny punch of olives, pickled peppers, and anchovies are the perfect salty bite to kick off a meal before you migrate to the warm dishes, which are the most impressive things that hit the counter. The txangurro al horno is perfect for sharing and comes as a sweet, creamy crab bake served inside its shell. And no visit to Bar Sport is complete without trying the grilled foie gras with a smoky char, sprinkling of rock salt, and a shiny coat of olive oil." - sylvio martins

The Best Pintxos in San Sebastián

"A classic, no-fuss pintxo bar where standing at the counter and choosing your own adventure is part of the charm; the standard Gilda is typically served on a slice of bread and pairs well with other bar staples like tortilla, uni cream in the shell, and a small slab of foie gras. Open seven days a week from late breakfast until midnight, it’s a reliably lively spot to start a long snacking session." - Olivia McDowell

The Best Things to Do in San Sebastián

"One popular route starts at Borda Berri before wandering down the street for pitstops at Bar Sport (order the txangurro, or crab) and Txepetxa."

The hype is real! This place has some of the best pintxos in town! My favorites thus far are the anchovies on picked chili peppers, the foir gras, and sea urchin soup. Beer or Sangria are good pairings to any of the small bites they offer. As always, it’s first come first served so make sure to grab a good spot before it gets too full! Excellent and fresh seafood options available. Highly recommended.

The best bar that I’ve had in San Sebastian! The servers are very friendly and served you the food super fast! They have very good choices of red wine and white wine. The tapas are a bit pricey but totally worth it to stop by this bar. There are not many tables to seat but the people flow quite often. We were lucky to get to seat on a table :) Highly recommended!

We went to 3 pintxos bars and this was by far the best. The other two were more famous. The food here was fresher and tastier and offered better value. It was packed which was fun as we had to battle our way to the counter to order. Even the wine was pretty good and the prices were low. Highly recommended.

Wow I thought I had some good pintxos but Bar Sport really topped them. Every dish was amazing: - Crab crepe: filling is of crab meat with crab roe sauce - Baked crab: the mixed filling of crab meat and crab roe is heaven for crab lovers - Foi gras: it’s about as good as the ones in Paris in flavor and texture. I couldn’t detect any liver or mineral after taste so it’s great. - Uni cream is naturally sweet and no after taste of ocean. Great for bread and pasta. - Pork trotter: the meat, skin and tendons were chopped and formed into cylindrical shape. Great flavors. - Mini hamburger: not your American fast food burger. It’s a simple dish but the beef patty is nicely flavored has perfect texture. The dining space is small and packed with people so you have to somehow make eye contact with the guys behind the counter to order the dishes.

I tried several tapas, and the best were the foie gras and the ribeye slider. I didn't enjoy the tomatoes with mozzarella and anchovies, and the small stuffed calamari was too salty. Apart from that, everything was good, and I will definitely return when I'm in San Sebastián, as the quality/price ratio is very reasonable and the food is excellent.

Incredible pintxo bar. Fantastic atmosphere. It can get crazy but the staff are so friendly and calm and clearly used to keeping on top of everyone’s orders. The food was outstanding. We went with the intention of having just a couple but we kept ordering more! Then went back again the next day.

This is a must visit bar in San Sebastián. Awesome food and service. Always packed so arrive around 11ish or wait for at least 30min. You must try the mini hamburger, the Sea Urchin soup, mushroom croquettes, shishito peppers. Coffee, drinks and beer are awesome. Eneko served us and he was genuinely interested in where we are from and providing excellent service. He even custom prepared some veggie options. We were fortunate to find a table. You will be lucky if you find a little corner to eat.

THE most famous pintxo bar in San Sebastián I would say. Most recommended place online so had some high hopes and it topped it! Solid pintxo menu. Baked crab, sea urchin are the must have. Also tried foie gras, stuffed squid, and mini burger which were highly recommended. They were really tasty but it wasn’t as good for my liking. Top tip - if you don’t mind standing outside, you can order from the staff and no need to queue or get attention among the crowds.
