This Mission restaurant has a nice dining room with great service. We had the fixed set meal with 3 starters and three main dishes. The three starter were all very good but the 3 mains were not as inspiring. It was also strange that 2 or of those 3 dishes were pork.

I went to Bar Tartine with my parents for brunch a couple months ago when they were visiting SF. From the moment we walked inside the door we had the BEST experience. The staff there is extremely friendly and accommodating and they made sure we liked our table and enjoyed our service throughout the meal. The brunch menu here is incredible. I would highly recommend making reservations since they get busy, but even if you do not it is well worth the wait. My Dad is a vegetarian and there was just as much for him as there was for us. The combination of flavors is unique and delicious. I highly recommend the smoked potatoes with black garlic, any of the flatbreads (we had a simple one with egg on it and it was perfectly prepared), and the candied beet mimosa. Also, all of the dips they serve with their homemade bread are incredible. Try them all! I will definitely be returning here in the future and want to try dinner next!

Everything I had here was lovely. The smoked potato salad was hands-down the best potato salad I have had --- seriously, get it. You'll love it. The lamb sausage with peppers and onions is good, too. All the breads are tasty. The gem lettuce is fresh and delicious. I thought their use of herbs was inventive and delightful. Also, a lot of the reviews here reference Hungarian food -- I'm first-generation, and I can tell you that there's nothing Hungarian about this menu. That said, I'd happily return! Only downside was that there didn't seem to be a dessert menu at brunch, and I was craving something sweet.

We were visiting from Wisconsin for our honeymoon and did our research before dining in SF. Bar Tartine made our reservations list, and we were extremely pleased. Wonderful pickled appetizers. The service was excellent. The food was out of this world. I was not able to eat dessert, but the waiter brought us to complimentary glasses of sparkling wine to celebrate the occasion. Very thoughtful. Great experience. We highly recommend it.

This restaurant is very trendy. It's a great place for a date. I ordered the potato flatbread, which was very good. They don't have hard liquor, just beer and wine. I did order some weird cocktail that they got from tap, which was mediocre. The dessert (rye pudding) were ok. Prices are steep! They have seasonal menus so I would come back to try other dishes if they really sounded good to me.

Excellent tasting menu - the first course offers you half a dozen small plates, most of which I found amazing. Highlight of the course for me was the little soup. Love the fragrant mint and cucumber flavors. Second round af appetizers and light entrees was the overall best part of the meal. Squash was delicious.

They get an A+ on service, presentation, wine, and pricing but nothing tasted good, not a single dish. Both of us tried the tasting menu. We got a small portion of their whole menu. The flavors were a train wreck. Even though the dishes were small, they served us about twelve dishes including dessert and where only able to finish one dish the rest where disgusting. This restaurant came highly recommend to us by a former sous chef but the food was so bad we felt strongly enough to come home and write a bad review. We arrived at the restaurant at 5:30 pm and the only reason we were able to get out by 7:45 was because we requested to have the check before having dessert. A complete waste of 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Lovely Hungarian food. Definitely should go two people and share the dishes to maximize the joy. Nice pickles, langoos as a starter is appetizing. Dishes without meat (tried fried sprouts and mushrooms wrapped in spinach) is surprisingly versatile and delicious. Had a nice pumpkin cream desert which was nice and light. However, a bit too crowed and loud as any popular place..
