I forget how I stumbled upon this place, but I'm so glad I did. If you want savory pies on the go with well-seasoned stuffing and flaky, buttery dough, this is the spot for you.
I couldn't really gauge the size of the pies and thought they would be about the size of regular empnadas for whatever reason. Boy, was I wrong. 1 pie is definitely enough for 1 person. 2 if you're really hungry. My phatazz not knowing the sizing and wanted some of everything? I got 3 and a sausage roll, bruh. Regrets, haha. But think of it as being the size of a medium/large adult hand.
Now onto eating the pies. Omg. It's 40ish degrees, and I had to trek to and from my office. When I got to my office, the pies were still perfectly warm. Hot enough to eat without wondering whether I was going to get molten lava lol. They're perfectly golden brown, with a flaky buttery crust with each bite. The stuffings were well-seasoned and had a nice texture to it without being overly runny. You can definitely enjoy these by hand, but just make sure you have some napkins nearby bc they don't skimp on the stuffing. Because I ordered these online, I didn't get a chance to explore how to "properly" eat these with ketchup (is Australian ketchup different?). And lastly, the sausage roll. It was nice but probably my least favorite, just bc of how heavy it is feeling wise (it was a deep-fried pastry dough wrapped sausage). Would I eat it again? Maybe but my doc would hate me if I kept getting it lol.
Overall, I definitely recommend checking it out if you want a quick bite to eat without having to wait too long for your food. Crossing off eating Australian pies from my bucket list, but I'll definitely be back to try the other flavors and menu items.
