Food was delicious we had the garlic knots and salad as an appetizer and for our main course we had the New York pizza the with Italian sausage, bacon, and pepperoni and a Paloma. No complaints on the food or drinks a 10/10. The only reason for the four stars on the service is as our waitress was a little rude and short on her answers the hostess was nice and welcoming. We will definitely try this spot again.

New York Style Pizza is Amazing! Super thin and full of flavor! The service is good to great, sometimes the staff gets a little too busy and maybe forgets you from time to time but they are super nice and pleasant. I haven't had anything other than the New York Style Pizza in the times I've been there but I've seen some of the other Italian Style dishes zipping over to other tables and man they look tasty! Give them a try! Check business hours before you head out that way though 👍

Made reservations for a large party on a Saturday afternoon. Our table was ready as reserved, but our party here by 2 more and they were kind enough to move us to an even larger table. Great customer service. Server was very helpful in making recommendations on dishes that were great for sharing and helping understand their portion sizes. We ordered a few drinks while looking over the menu. We started with a few appetizers before ordering a few pizzas, salad, and small dishes. Recommendations were great and pizza was outstanding. We finished with a shared dessert. Overall, good food, but also great service in a fun and energizing environment. I would recommend making reservations as all the tables were full.

This restaurant has amazing food and an even better atmosphere. It’s dark, the interior has some neat lighting, music playing. Very fun cocktails around the holidays. Fantastic pizza. Can’t recommend this place enough. It’s always pretty busy but you can usually get a table for two within a reasonable amount of time

Overall, the atmosphere was great and the drinks were excellent. We arrived around 7:30 PM and were told the wait would be about 30–45 minutes. However, due to an error at the front desk, our wait ended up being much longer, and we weren’t seated until 9:35 PM. They did offer a complimentary drink, which we appreciated, but the extended delay was still frustrating. Fortunately, we were able to wait at the bar and enjoy a few drinks. The bartender was awesome—great service and a big thanks to them for making the wait more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend making a reservation, as you risk facing a very long wait otherwise.

The service was outstanding the sicililan pizza was the best i’ve had in the southern parts of the United States bar none . We came by on a whim and recommendation for a celebration and we were blown away. We will definitely be back in the future and recommending this place to everyone we know that comes to San Antonio looking for pizza.

This place rocks. Our very pretty waitress Cali was such a sweetheart and took care of my friends & I. We ordered their coffee, appetizer ( salad & garlic knots with marinara sauce ) & of course the pizza. Need to check this place out y'all. Look forward to going here again soon.

I’ve been coming here for a while, why hadn’t I ever done a review? Anyways, the cheese New York style pizza is amazing. I paired it up with a nice cold Highwheel Betty. This place never disappoints, the atmosphere is always great, staff is always professional. My only regret was not taking better pictures, but I was on a date 😉

Tried this place because I had a discount code to use. Was pleasantly surprised! The restaurant was a small and dim place but provided a nice cozy ambiance. Our waiter was super helpful in recommending dishes. The burrata was to die for, wish we had asked for more bread. We split the hashbrown pizza and added pepperoni. Anybody interesting take on a pizza, but it was delicious. Will be coming back!

One of the best pizzas I've ever had. Totally recommend this place. Had a limited menu but when you want a good pizza there are like 3 places in San Antonio that you need to try, this place is one of them. And dough pizzeria sucks ass. Just the one minor negative for this place and is the racism. My wife and i came here. Again, she is Gringona and I'm Super Mex and the guero shaggy looking mofo waiter would not sit us at a booth because "our booths are for large groups" Not even 5 minutes later a very nice non-mix-race-non-minority couple walked and he sat them at a booth. I was going to go full Laredo on his ass, but then I had to let it go because hey, this is San Antonio and this city is beginning to show more hate than before. But the pizza is still good!

This was my second visit to Barbaro, and it offered a chance to see how well they've maintained their unique and tasty offerings since my first visit last year. Last time, I sat outside where the heat was nearly unbearable, but the pizza was memorably good and unique, making it worth the discomfort. This time around, I opted for the cool comfort of the indoor seating. The AC was a welcome relief. I had a coupon and wasn't sure how to redeem it, and while the bartender initially didn't know either, he quickly figured it out with some help from his manager, which I appreciated. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan, which was served hot--always a good sign in my book. The chicken itself was flavorful and tender, hitting all the right notes. However, the pasta that accompanied it was just okay, lacking any standout qualities that would make it memorable. The vibe inside Barbaro is casual, making it a great spot for catching up with friends. It's a place where you can relax, enjoy some good food, and not feel rushed. Overall, my experience at Barbaro was positive, with commendable service and a comfortable atmosphere. While the pasta might not have impressed this time, the chicken Parmesan and the overall experience encourage me to return.

Tried out Barbaro with a friend and absolutely loved it! From the cute entrance on the corner to the interesting decor inside, it's such an enjoyable place with a great vibe. Our server was attentive and delightful and gave us great recommendations. We ordered the Benton's County Hams pizza and it was so unique and flavorful! I look forward to returning soon to try some more menu items!

We came to Barbaro with some good friends last night and it was quite good. We were here in time for some drink specials and they have a fully stocked bar with a really good bartender! Excellent old-fashioned. We started with the cheese sticks, which were really really good! The salad was also very good with a very good dressing and the pizza was crispy and delicious! We will be back!

We wouldn't know.... We reserved for 3. Waiting 1 hour and 30mins. Thinking we have gave them more than the hour wait they told us. To be turned down. They said we can give you a discount on a ToGo order. So heart broken and crazy hungry. So watch out guys even if your put on a waiting list or reservation.

Myself and my husband visited Barbaro on a Saturday evening. We didn't have a reservation but we were quickly seated. The ambiance of the restaurant is a loud moody hipster vibe which we liked. Our server was very friendly and helped us with recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed our pizza and the hot honey. Giving a 4 stars because we had asked for a to-go box after we paid for our meal and the waitress obviously forgot about us after paying. It took 2 reminders and about 20 minutes for us to get the to-go container. Otherwise it was a lovely experience and would definitely check it out again.

Two things I love are calzones and brick buildings, and buddy. this place has both. It also has alcoholic drinks containing espresso. And an open floor plan with a hint of maximalism on the walls. Worth a visit especially if you want an elevated drink with your pizza.

This place was surprising with a top-notch playlist that created a good atmosphere for a casual drink or weekend fun! I did enjoy the inside seating & they also have street-side patio seating. We ordered drinks & three appetizers so I can't judge the pizza or entrees but their cocktails were delicious and super fair wine bottle prices. Our waitress was super nice and did a great job on checking in on us. We got the super delicious charcuterie board, my favorite being their almonds & meat choices. The cheese was good but not my favorite selection but still we cleaned the board. The kale salad was super refreshing and love the grapes. The garlic knots were super fresh & love that they make their marinara sauce in house. Great experience! I'd be excited to get back & try a full meal but based on the apps, I trust it's yummy!

Delicious pizza and calzones. Crust is fabulous. We were celebrating and really enjoyed the half price cocktails on a Tuesday. Only reason no 5 stars is it seems every little thing was more $$$. She asked if we wanted hot honey with our burrata and we said yes never thinking it's $3 for this teeny teeny tiny squirt of it. Weird. And then all the pizza toppings were priced individually instead of just saying a pizza with2 toppings is x, 3 toppings is y, etc. oh well, we enjoyed the food very much. Cute place with fun ambiance.

Came here while visiting our kids who live locally and frequent here often. How a carbonara pizza can taste so amazing yet be thin as cracker is something of dreams! We got a can of sardines bc why not! They were presented in a can with crispy toast points as they were out of crackers but we lived the bread too. The burrata small plate with pesto...ask for extra bread bc you won't want to waste a bit! The cocktails are very well crafted and delicious. The frozen French coffee is a must after dinner (or before). Wish we had one of these places in PA!!! Loved the ambience as well! 10/10

This is THE place to go in our neighborhood! I don't really love Italian food but I LOVE this place. My wife and I are pretty frequent visitors now! Our personal favorites are the spaghetti and meatballs and the late night happy hour pizza by the slice. The marinara at this place is top tier. It's super garlicky and peppery. You can also see by the pictures they are super generous with portion size. The pizza by the slice is also delicious and the slices are huge! They have the best in house ranch I think I've had too. The servers are always kind and helpful. The place is a little small and pretty low lighting, it's especially dark at night. But, I dig the vibe and take friends and family here all the time.

Service is great but I was charged full price for toppings I only got on half of of my pizza and our entire party agreed that they were pretty stingy with the ricotta. Overall the service was professional and prompt but for the price I expect more ricotta.

Big pizza fan. Many people have recommended this place. I think maybe for the bar. It's a great place to hang out and have a drink. Great place to take a date, unless their AC is on arctic blast like it was when we went which made it so cold, and unbearable to just sit and talk without shivering. The pizza simply wasn't good. Or hot. Due to the AC again. The mozzarella sticks had no mozzarella. Definitely would recommend the place to go for a drink.

Amazing service, good drinks and tasty food abound here. This was my first time dining here and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The tasty spaghetti and gigantic meatballs made me smile. Although the menu is small, the portions are generous. I saw some others enjoying a pepperoni pizza which looked awesome. The only drawback here is the extremely limited parking. There's a very small lot on the side of the building. Otherwise, parking is available on the nearby streets.

This is such a great little spot! The ambience was lovely and sort of reminiscent of an nyc bar. The staff was friendly and service was decent for a Friday night. The pizza was pretty tasty and the old fashioned was excellent! I would 10/10 recommend this spot. Would be so cute for a date night! Can't wait to come back again and try more menu items! Just note that their parking lot is small and limited to a handful of spaces - maybe plan for street parking.

Three of us stopped in on 4/6 for an early dinner. The food was as good as the last time I was here, but the service was poor. Our server was pleasant initially, but not much after we placed our drink order and appetizers. Two of the three drinks took about 15 minutes to get to us, and she forgot mine altogether. The appetizers took almost 30 minutes to arrive. And when we asked about them it was like we were putting her out. Follow-up after we were served was poor. We had to get our own peppers and cheese for the pizza, because our server wasn't to be found, and the rest of the staff walked around with blinders on. I don't usually care too much how friendly a server is, as long as they're not jerks, and they're efficient. Ours wasn't a jerk, but she was disinterested, wasn't efficient, and spent a good bit of time bullshitting with staff instead of roaming the small dining room and checking on customers and orders. Tips in my mind start at 20%. Where it goes from there depends on the service. Our server got 10%. Oh, and what's the "Service Fee" all about? Really? I've been to Barbaro when the place was jammed and there was a line on the sidewalk, but it wasn't busy by any stretch of the imagination this visit.

This marks our second visit to Barbaro. We were promptly seated indoors and offered water right away. We ordered an Negroni and a draft beer. My drink arrived within 5 minutes, but my husband's beer took about 15 minutes. Despite several attempts to get our waitress's attention, I was unsuccessful. Eventually, I had to get up to inquire about my husband's beer, which was promptly delivered. Our favorite Caesar salad was delicious, featuring fresh romaine, dressing, and white anchovies. We also enjoyed the garlic knots, topped generously with fresh Parmigiano and served with marinara, though they were tasty on their own. The only downside was the excessively loud music; even the younger couple nearby agreed it was too loud, almost causing a headache. This would be the sole reason for hesitation in returning--it's more than just ambient music.

Been here a thousand times in the week and during the weekend and I can honestly say - this place is DELICIOUS! Great spot for a date night or for a friends night out! In the evening, they bring out the dim lighting which takes the vibe to another level. I've seen people bring their children here so I would say it's family friendly-ish. Highlights: Handcrafted Cocktails - the details, the taste - quality ingredients are much appreciated! I've tried a few ones and all have been great! Happy Hour is 4pm-6pm and 10-12am ($6 drinks)

Cute vibe, service was very delayed about 20-30 mins after being seated. It's a Thursday wasn't the busiest. The cocktail happy hour special made up for it. Make sure to check your bill and receipt since initially they charged us full price for the cocktails and thankfully my friend noticed the bill was double of what we thought it'd be and our server quickly fixed it and refunded the difference. No blame to the workers sometimes computers can mess up so just an fyi! 10/10 for the music playlist btw.

I used to love this place. I still like it; it's fine, but not as good as it used to be. I would call this place hipster and trendy. It's not everyone's vibe, but this place gets really popular, especially during happy hour. The last time I came here, I had the Oops...Berries Again cocktail. You get to choose which spirit goes in it, and I chose tequila. The drink was not mixed well; the first sip was nothing but tequila. I stirred it up a bit, and it improved For pizza, we got the Benton's Country Ham. Barbaro does pizzas with unique ingredients and has combinations that may seem unorthodox. Our pizza was delicious. The one issue I had was the the crust was burnt (probably in the oven a wee bit too long), so the crust wasn't very good. Service is all right here. They leave you alone, which I prefer, but when I needed something, it took a few minutes to wave someone down. A point of contention for me is that Barbaro does not accept cash or Apple Pay. I don't like carrying plastic around with me, and luckily, I had a card with me, otherwise, this could have ended badly. The pizza and ambiance are good here, but there are other places that have better value.

First time trying this place because I heard a lot of good things about it. It didn't disappoint. From the cocktails to the pizza everything was excellent. I ordered a traditional pepperoni pizza and it was delicious. It reminded me of New York style pizza. The service was great and the ambiance made you feel you were in a different city. I highly recommend trying this place

We went here at the beginning of the year while visiting San Antonio and I have to say, it was one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. I still talk about it- the food, the atmosphere, the drinks!!!! We went maybe around 10 PM or so and the vibe of this place was immaculate! They were playing old school hip hop, but not too loud where you couldn't hear the person talking next to you. The lights were dimmed just enough to where it felt calming, but not like you were dining in the dark. And the FOOD... BOMB- hands down the best pizza and Caesar salad I've ever had! I wish I had pictures of the night, but it was too enjoyable to even think about picking up your phone. The service was wonderful as well. I recommend this to everyone visiting San Antonio and can't wait to go back!

Very chill place to grab some great happy hour brunch Bloody Mary's and a pizza. I love the location and it is a great place for locals.

A group of friends and I would go every Wednesday night and get the chefs slice. My favorites chefs slice has to be the Alfredo pizza! Also... BUSSIN ranch! It has a dill ring to it.

I really love Barbaro's carbonara pizza. I haven't found this at any other restaurant and it is such a unique and hearty flavor. It has white sauce, cheese, and bacon. On their drink menu, they have a great selection including mock tails too in case you want to feel fancy but without with alcohol. Service can be really busy at times as it is a smaller restaurant though usually packed. It gets a little loud and crowded inside the restaurant but it makes for a great date night with low lighting and unique decor.

Came in on a Monday to take advantage of the $15 house pies! This is a little restaurant by Lily's cookies. Just as an FYI: street parking is highly likely because the parking lot is tiny. The vibes of this place are giving date night - dark furniture with dim lighting with the bar being a focal point of the restaurant. Noise level is pretty typical of a small restaurant. You can definitely have a conversation without having to raise your voice, but the occasional silence is muted at the ambient noise. Service was not overly kind or rude. I think working on a Labor Day would just be overall not fun so I don't blame the waitstaff for not being extremely enthusiastic. She did forget crushed red pepper and Parmesan, but brought them out as soon as we asked. Also, she recommended getting a large since they were $15 so that was really kind of her, because we didn't know about this Monday special. Pizza was tasty. Bacon forward with delicious crust and the perfect amount of cheese. Not much pizza grease which is always refreshing. Only thing was that I wished there was more white sauce because I didn't really taste any. We left feeling full and had leftovers. Price was well worth the portion size. Overall, great experience and I'll be back to try some other house pies!

This was my first time I heard a lot about this place. We ordered the spaghetti and we weren't big fans, the meatballs weren't that great and it was a little spicy. The pizza was really good and the staff is great I would go back.

Great spot for late night happy hour from 10-12! 6$ cocktails and 3$ pizza by the slice (pepperoni and cheese) I'd recommend the carbonara, it's a must try. As far as drinks go, they are inconsistent. Bartenders must pour with their heart because almost every time my drink tastes completely different. I've tried the Moscow mule on multiple occasions and I feel that's the drink to avoid. Parking is VERY limited - which may cause you to park far down the street. Music is on point though. They played jelly fish jam while I was there and it's a bop. If you know, you know.

Feel like was too high but was too low. Loved the atmosphere cool bar and indoor seating area. They had outdoor seating but too hot to be trying right now. We got there about 6pm on a Thurs and had no problem getting a table for theee. Seemed like everything else was reserved seating after that. We ordered the charcuterie board for an appetizer and that was the best part of the meal... highly recommend. Ordered a New York pizza and added sausage, pepperoni, and roasted tomatoes. The flavors were all great and the ingredients tasted fresh. The crust on the other hand, was very inconsistent. One side was tough and chewy the other side over cooked. The crust at the center of the pizza was way too thin, everything was falling off. Was in New York last week and that didn't happen there. The charcuterie board was good... pizza not so much, and it's a pizza place. For what seemed like a moderately busy weekday the server was not very attentive. The manager actually came and got our credit card to pay, after he saw it sitting there as he passed by more than once.

This a great neighborhood Italian joint! The inside is super intimate and chic. The food is amazing they have delicious pizza and a great gluten free crust option! All the portions are quite large so, it is perfect for dining family style !

Barbaro creates a wonderful pizza and cocktail experience unlike any other in San Antonio. They can do the classic cocktails, they create some delicious house pours, and they should be considered among the best pizza options to pick from. The pizza is a real gem and may be the best pizza in San Antonio. The crust is crisp, the toppings are fresh, and the prices are shockingly reasonable. Even the pasta is excellent! My only complaint is that they charge for basil which, in my opinion, should be as standard as adding cheese if you want it. The excellent service and chic interior compliment any meal. It makes for a wonderful lunch option by day, happy hour afternoon, or date option by night. They even offer $4 slices between 10pm-midnight for your late night cravings! Those are complimented by $6 cocktails. You really can't go wrong here.

I absolutely love this place they are always so welcoming! The atmosphere feels like you're in a New York pizzeria they ALWAYS have great music playing. Highly recommended their happy hour. Oh did I forget to mention the food is delicious!

Small place on the corner. Maybe a dozen tables inside and another 8-10 outside. Eclectic set of drinks. A good wine list. Small bites that are very sharable. A few large plates. Loved the roasted cauliflower...cooked well without becoming mush. Covered in parm and almonds ... roasted tomato and herb sauce for dipping. Tried the expresso martini( very good) and pineapple express(ok). Service was okay but my drinks were taking a long time to get from the bar even with 2 bartenders.

Good food can only go so far. A friend and I came to Barbaro for lunch. There was one table seated ahead of us, and we ordered within five or six minutes of arrival. We both ordered a pizza, and mine came with a salad. The salad took at least 15 minutes to come out. 30 minutes later, we were still waiting for our pizza. A few tables had been seated by that time. About 10 minutes later, the pizzas were brought out for one of the other tables. We finally had to ask for our tickets and get our pizza to go, and it arrived at our table about an hour after we ordered. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, this was an incredibly disappointing experience for a Friday lunch. The pizza looks good, but I won't be able to eat it until I get home and it's cold.

Bárbaro late night happy hour SLAPPED! This review will be focused on that, I will come back and review when I visit during normal operating hours. But happy hour was amazing! Sat at the bar and the bartender was fast and got our drink and food order in and out. You can't go wrong with a drink and $3 pizza slice. The reviewers are right the pizza is ! A different taste that I haven't had before. The only thing I can offer feedback on is the parking is chaotic‍. Luckily someone was leaving soon managed to get some good parking, but yeah it sucks. Other than 100/10 recommend for late night happy hour:)

They have decent food and good drinks, but decide to charge double what it's worth, so it ends up being mediocre for the price. Then they keep you waiting for literal hours to be served. Too dark to see their nasty floors. Outside might be okay though.

Came for brunch and it was very very interesting. We had the eggs Benedict meal and the carbonara pizza with added mushrooms. The drinks were a little too much on the weird flavors. I can't remember the first drink name, however, it tasted horrible and like grapefruit. It wasn't at all good. The waitress was really cool about it and got us something much better! The only negative is that we asked beforehand about the hollandaise sauce for the Benedict and was told it was normal. Very incorrect. It came out extra red and extra spicy sadly. Not very hollandaise sauce whatsoever. I really, I wouldn't come back here for their brunch. But I would love to come back for the pizza itself.

Barbaro used to be one of our favorites but not so much anymore. Over the last year the quality and service have taken a STEEP fall -- especially service. In the last 3-4 visits, service has been extremely poor. I'd love to leave a better review because I wish this spot was what it used to be. Went there again to celebrate a bday and once again were unsatisfied by the service. At this point, it's a trend. Worth noting that I visited their sister restaurant Extra Fine a week ago, and same trend. Hope the owners figure this out, but will stay away for a while. Ps. They've also recently added this "service fee" to the tab, which is just nuts. Not sure what that's about but I guess they're in need of some extra funds.

Great service we had the best waitress her name was "Jasil" please ask for her!!!! What made it the best experiences that she recommended the best items on the menu. The best drinks, the best appetizers, and to top it off, the ambience. We will definitely return, but we will always ask for her. our food came out hot and we were taken care off to the fullest thank you

Love it here! They have nightly specials like $6 cocktails and $5 pizza slices after 10pm. I'm looking forward to trying their 100 layer lasagna!

The best balance for a burrata; pesto and sun-dried tomatoes. Good appetizer for 2-3 people.

The service here is HORRIBLE. Please see screenshots of the other reviews regarding service. The bartender is an absolute bee-otch. The Clams casino pizza has chillies on it so the ONLY thing you taste is the chillies. . No pungent , saltiness of clams just spicy, hot chillies. The carbonara is tasty. The eggplant parmesan is delicious. They seem to have a thing for cheesecake here as they rotate often. I had a blood orange pistachio cheesecake. Service sucks but some items are yummy. Outside patio is lovely . Service is just freaking bad here.

I apologize for not taking any pictures! First time dining and on Saturday at lunch, we got a booth right away. The menu features some classic $6 cocktails. I had a "Pain Killer" which was beautifully created and tasted like a tropical vacation. We ordered the hash brown pizza with Kale and Honey. We added pepperonis which was out of this world. Probably the best pizza I have had in a long time. This spot is lovely and eclectic. Great food and great service. I can't wait to go back!
