I’ve never had a situation where I wished I took pictures of the receipts at a bar. These guys changed the prices of the tips and I got charged an extra $10 on my tabs. Beware of this place

My friends and I were physically assaulted by security and a woman in the lounge. It is believed the woman and the lounge were familiar with each other based on how the lounge handled the situation. This woman swung on my friends and me in a section, after my friend politely asked the woman to move down. This woman was sitting in our friend's spot who was in the bathroom at the time. In retaliation, the woman lunged at my friends and me, and an assault// fight broke out. At the time there were already 2 security guards near our section. My friend had to kick this woman off of her before security was able to "grab' her. Once security let her go, she came and swung at me while I was standing behind security letting another fight break out. At this time there are already 4 security guards in our section. The security guard held me back by bear hugging me, while this woman was already pulling my hair. Letting her knee me in the face THREE times before security was able to "separate" us. After the assault, the lounge let her leave through the back door which was closed to the public. That night the lounge believed we were the aggressors (we're all POC) until we called the cops and the cops reassured us and the lounge that the lady assaulted us first. The lounge manager, Steve made it seem like they'll do anything in their power to assist us. But all he offered was a "fun experience" for "next time" and a blurry photo. He mentioned he would share the video footage with me on 9/11 but after following up with Steve 3 times, now he can't share the footage due to it being "compromised." Would not recommend this place even to my worst enemy.

Super empty and it took more than 10 minutes to get acknowledged and a drink (which was tasty) and I sat at the bar. Then, the bartender was making a drink and I asked him what it was and he said it was a shaker (he was shaking the drink). Seems he had things on his agenda other than serving ALL the customers. This is my first one star. Atmosphere and drinks were good, but service from the bartender was terrible. The other staff seemed friendly, unbiased and helpful.

Horrible place horrible experience. Read other reviews to give you some deeper idea. Be prepared to be harassed and overcharged. Not surprising given who the owner is. Please avoid

I've never had a bartender come across as so fake nice. And his drinks were so inconsistent and one dimensional.

It looked a bit empty from the outside midweek. Upon entering there were a few tables occupied. (COVID TIMES) First impression of the staff was super friendly and asked where we'd like to get seated. The inside looks amazing and very chill vibes. We had a couple of drinks and a dessert to start off. First of all the drink presentations were amazing. Very decorative drinks. My partner liked my drink the "Passionfruit Project" which is on the fruity side if you like something light. She got the "Party Garden" bit strong for her, but tasted fine to me. Btw all the drinks are designed by the bartender so if you need some adjustments just let them know.. The Creme Brule wasn't overly sweet. Overall I would definitely come back here when I visit SF again.

Drinks were a bit pricey. But the ambience was fun, with R&B/latin/pop music playing. Was a fun experience for late night partying. Lots of room for dancing or if you want to stand and mingle with others

Great service from door to bar. Great options, vibe, food and drinks. Tvs, music, outdoor front. Definition of a great bartender, I am just going to put it out there, yes it's " Omar". Omar was helpful, nice, observant and helped us have a good time

The five stars are for the amazing service but maybe first I will talk about the actual bar! Two floors, pretty spacious. I tried three drinks and all were quite good. The day I went, Saturday, they were playing great dance songs from like 2010-2020. The basement floor had older music, less dancey, and the DJ put in some odd transitions that made it tough to keep dancing. But ultimately five stars because my friend lost a wallet as he got into a Waymo outside the bar. We called the lounge and the man who answered the phone was so kind. He went out of his way on a really busy night to check the street outside for the wallet and called me back to tell me he had it! He even came outside to hand me the wallet. I would come back to dance :)

Went out on a Friday night with and I visited Barbarossa for the first time. It was our last stop of the night and it did not disappoint. Got there around 12:30am and it was crowded. The music they played was great. Service was good and bartenders were quick to take our order. Drinks were great. The ambience and design inside the lounge was upscale and classy. The crowd was a mixture of younger and older adults. People were well-dressed, some more formal while others on the more casual end. If you want more of a CLUB vibe, go at night on Fridays or Saturdays. I definitely have to come back at an earlier time when it is a bit more mellow so I can sit down and try their food and more of their drinks. Definitely recommend this spot!

Really cool lounge with great music. Had a great time celebrating my friends bday, would definitely come back for a night out.

After having not been to SF's Jackson Square neighborhood in a while I was surprised - in a great way - by what I found there. Sadly, gone are the print shops of old, my one-time favorite nightclub, and the quirky assemblage of curios in the office of Melvin Belli (RIP, all of it). In their place though, the area has become home to a whole new ethos, one that had me remarking on how the streets lined with upscale shops, cafes, and secretive seeming AI workers reminded of being in Paris. Yes, Paris. Though far from Parisian in feel, add Barbarossa Lounge to the list of great additions to the area. Low-lit and situated in one of the City's oldest buildings, this is a perfect place to indulge in cocktails, nibbles, and reverie. The cocktail list is always changing but the ones I sampled (especially the Gold Rush, $15) were well-prepared and served in portion sizes that didn't leave me feeling ripped off. Bartenders were quick and courteous; this is a very nice place. I sampled widely from the appetizers also and was impressed by the attention given to presentation. It's clear that the folks running Barbarossa Lounge care about ambiance, hiring, cocktails, and food equally; it shows and is an asset to the entire experience. There's a million other places to drink in nearby North Beach, Chinatown, or the FiDi, but if you're looking for a wonderfully ambient experience Barbarossa Lounge is an ideal choice.

The food was good the ambience was ok the service was excellent but not the vibe I was looking for that night. We ate and left to find something more fun and happening that night.

Great atmosphere. Came on a recommendation of a server at another restaurant in the area. It did not disappoint with its decor, music, or service. The drinks had good pours, they tasted great, and the bartender was friendly. Bouncers outside were also friendly. We came late on a Thursday and there was no cover charge.

I went to Barbarossa for my 25th birthday and I will definitely be going back! Barbarossa has a friendly atmosphere to hangout with friends in an intimate setting but also turns into a club at night! We went around 9 pm to grab a couple round of drinks and then food! I highly recommend getting the Red Cloud, which was tequila, mezcal, pamplemouse blood orange-jalapeno. It was delicious absolutely delicious but I will give the disclaimer that I am a tequila girl. The reason that I took off one star because the food was very confusing to order. I recommend reorienting the food menu. We ordered a charcuterie board. It was very odd because it did not come with the typical traditional charcuterie. It only came with meat so we quickly figured out that you had to order everything separately. We ordered the cheese and sausages separately, which caused us to get large amount of bread every order. I feel like this could have been done different to prevent waste. If you are coming here to club, Barbarossa really picks up at around 10:30-11ish!

First of all the inside is SO cute and has the best ambiance, great for aesthetic pictures!! It has a bondage theme which was so dope The drinks are super yummy too The staff is sooo friendly, my friends and I were talking and a gentleman came up to us and let us know we were able to sit anywhere we'd like :) Came on a Thursday and it was busy which is fun

Was here for a friend's party and I thought Barbarossa lounge did an excellent job catering. There were a variety of meat & vegetarian options: deviled eggs, beets, a cheese plate, a charcuterie plate, two types of sliders (mushroom & pork) with carmelized onions & gruyere, guacamole on toast and bacon wrapped shrimp. All the food was beautifully presented. In particular, I thought the bacon wrapped shrimp were exceptionally good, with very crisp bacon.

Went for Super Bowl Sunday it was a nice experience, only complaint is that they don't know how to make a certain amount of popular drinks.

I love this place, its super aesthetic and pretty. I came here twice for events and the atmosphere was so chic. The drinks and service were top notch and super creative. I would definitely come back here for the vibes and would recommend to anyone I knew as well.

Barbarossa is always a good time! The interior is cute, the crowd is good, and the music is usually great (top 40 and a mix of older jams you'd love). I had to subtract one star because of the mean, angry bartender, David. After buying a round of shots, he didn't give us any chaser. I went back for regular soda waters and coke. He angrily demanded my card. Confused, I just handed it over. He charged us $13! The receipt said bottled sparkling water. Bro, we each got like 4 sips of soda water in those small cups full of ice. He also never gave us the Coke back. After paying, I asked where the Coke back was. He got angry, grabbed the receipt inside, saw that I had indeed tipped ON TOP for $17.xx of soda water on tap (mind you he also got a nice tip for the shots right beforehand), then reluctantly gave us ONE Coke back for the 3 shots we got. David, don't work in the service industry if you hate people. That being said, all the other staff was delightful! Super awesome and pleasant. If I ever come back, I'll be sure to avoid David.

Guys, don't skip out on this place. If you want a club vibe, go on a weekend late at night. If you just want a nice vintage cocktail bar vibe then go when they open at 5 pm on a weekday. The bartender was very friendly and even asked my friend out. That's not my scene so I was a bit annoyed but she didn't seem to mind. I had one of their known cocktails which was good. I loved everything they made behind the bar. They had an oyster special going on but we just had cocktails. I'd definitely be back.

super fun vibes that's much more spacious than other bars for dancing yay. free water lit music I knew a lot of songs! tried the spider kelly's it was not too heavy handed on the tequila (a liquor I usually dislike)

I have come to Barbarossa Lounge on several occasions and it is incredible. The service by Eduardo is top tier and the drinks are incredible. The food is really delicious, I highly recommend the Poke and Ceviche. The happy hour oysters are also a great choice!! Super thankful for Eduardo and his team.

Who said a cocktail w a side of S&M don't go together? This north beach staple definitely is a vibe, and delivers Classy old school feels w/ skillfully made cocktails and a small bites menu. You can reserve a couch space with rolling through with your gang, or more intimate tables if trying to impress your date. Come here even without a rezy! Best time would be before 10pm - as you'll be charged a cover after. Make sure to ask what's behind the upstairs curtained section, as well as the more 'private' rooms downstairs. I was there too early, but I have a feeling that you may be in for a 'show' of some sorts. Be ready for a whip. Cheers

I loved the atmosphere of this place! We were taking a haunted pub crawl and this is the place that we met. My friend and I got there early so that we could have a bite to eat. We ended up having a charcuterie board and cheese. It was delicious! The staff was accommodating and anticipated our needs. I totally loved the vibe of the place. I highly recommend you check it out!

Tacky. Weird service. Got offered popcorn when we sat down as if it were complimentary, it wasn't. It also had truffle jnfused butter, which should be told to the customer since not everyone likes truffle... except then ppl may start to catch it's not free and you could no longer rip them off.

I didn't have their food but the vibe was definitely off the charts, it is the perfect spot for GNO, bday celebration, night out with friends and listen to good music and be around cool people. Service, imma give a cause we were taken care of WELL--shoutout to Amena !!!

Had an amazing time with my girls. We came out for my bday and the Security our front: Barry, Junior , Travis, and Justin were so sweet and helped us get in quick as it was cold out front. Inside was very cool and the waitress Amena was so nice. I would definitely recommend!

Lounge in the financial district / North beach neighborhoods. Drinks are good. Staff is attentive. Interior decor is catchy. I feel like it's something like Moulin Rouge...there's a cute red phone booth downstairs that you can take cute pics with...went here 12/30 after dinner and drinks were good. They opened up shortly as a night club and it started to pop! Despite the rain, it wasn't stopping anyone from shaking that thang thang! lol! Good times.

Barbarossa is a lounge that has good music and ok drinks. Two floors, but the main floor is where the party is. On the weekends this place is packed. Service is subpar (bartender was agressive after I told him my lemon drop tasted different from the first one I had). My friends and I have gone a few times after dinner when we want to vibe but not be in a club setting. I recommend doing bottle service to have a designated area and seating.

I visited on a Thursday night, and had a great experience. The place has a really chill ambiance (can't speak for the weekend), which was exactly what I was hoping for. They check proof of vaccination when entering. It was pretty easy to find space at the bar and later seating at their couch/lounge area, as again this was a weekday. The bar tenders were really friendly, gave good recommendations, and seemed to put effort into making drinks, just the kind of service you would want from such a venue. The PCH1 was really good, not too strong in terms of alcohol, and not too sweet. Presentation was great. I wanted to try one of their frozen cocktails, but they weren't offering frozen drinks at the time. The place didn't blow my socks off. It's not as intriguing as the website makes it out to be. But I think it's one of the better bars/venues in the area open late on a Thursday, with a safe and inviting atmosphere, and they provided great service. So I'd recommend it :)

I lost something important when I came with some friends on August 31st, Saturday night at Barbarossa. I'm wondering who I can contact to ask them to look around for it / ask about lost & found. It says the bar opens at 9pm but I'm hoping someone who works there can look around before the bar opens.

The appetizers were very tasty. The drinks were professionally made by mixologist. The bartenders were fast and the ambiance is very retro shiek.

Been coming here since it was Bubble Lounge! The name may have changed, but looks like nothing else has, which is good, although I think "Bubble Lounge" is a cuter name. This place has always attracted the more mitre 20's or 30s crowd, which keeps it classy. You'll see folks dressed up casually or in suits. Service is friendly. The food and drinks are fine but nothing that really stands out. I enjoy just coming here for the vibe.

Walked in shortly before closing on Tuesday, and Eduardo happily served us still. The Costa Capone was a perfect after dinner night cap, excited to come back and try the rest of their cocktail menu. Would definitely recommend coming in. Cool ambience, good bartenders, good time.

There is this bald bartender who is very rude, and was hitting on my gf but as soon as he realized that she was with mee, he gave us cold shoulders and provided bad services

Ambiance is giving. Love the artwork. Bartender says it's usually packed. Everyone must be at burning man. Eddie was helpful. Love the lamps and artwork. Cant wait to return when it's packed!

This was the first time in I went to a bar/lounge since Covid hit, and I am happy to see that Barbarossa is handling the situation well. My friends and I were seated in a booth with a clear plastic wall separating us from the other groups. Hand sanitizer was readily available and be cocktail makers and staff were very friendly and helpful with all of our interactions! Props to them for handling all of our requests in a professional manner, especially with the crowds that build up on a Friday night. My group got a large party-sized drink pitcher(?) to share, it was one of the drinks alongside the strawberry margarita on the menu if you're curious! Looking forward to visiting again!

Great variety of cocktails, good munch food. Fun ambience. Turns to bottle service later in evening.

Stumbled in after dinner on our way back to our hotel. Even though it was last call once we walked in, the bartender Eduardo made us feel like we were regulars and made us our drinks. I got the fools gold - a whiskey drink and it was delicious! My husband got the costa Capone and also loved it! Would definitely recommend coming in for drinks if in the area!

Beautiful lounge with great service, food, and cocktails. Reserved the main area for my wife's milestone birthday party. She loved it! Everyone had a great time! The bar and wait staff were highly attentive. Thank you for an unforgettable night!

I loooove Eduardo. I love him all! His great humor, enthusiasm and eloquence; all this raw energy wrapped in a sexy man. Barbarossa is nice too. Is good to be back again after the pandemic, and know the lounge kept the sex-appeal and fun ambiance lost in other clubs.

I love Eduardo! He always takes his time to make sure the cocktail tastes good, but also looks good! The ambiance is great!
