Decided to head to BarCa last night with my mother and two of her friends. Been here before and the food was fantastic. We made reservations for 6:30, and when we got there there were 2 other parties outside where we sat. there was one other seated table inside; basically they were not busy. Let me start by saying that the inside of BarCa is beautifully designed/decorated, and the outside area has major potential, but is a total let down. Our table was plastic, wobbly, and overall dinky. There is little airflow and feels like a sauna even at night. Also, the ridiculous multicolored umbrellas throws off the entire ambiance. There is no need for umbrellas in the evening/night as there is no sun shining in the area. Next, we were not greeted by the waiter; Instead, what appeared initially to be the bus boy stood awkwardly near out table, again without even a hello, until we asked for some water. Not sure if this was a family member, friend, whomever, but this kid has absolutely no waitering skills. We ordered all of our food around 7pm, and although we got bread and our appetizers quickly, we did not get our food until 8:15pm. OH and the waiter brought out each dish one by one... and I couldn't help but notice his extremely dirty fingernails as he placed down 4 individual dishes one by one in a time span of about 10 minutes. The food was delicious though, that is the definite highlight of this place. I had the carne alentjana and it was pretty much perfect. Kudos to the chef, since it seems like there is only one person working the kitchen. The owner spent his time mingling with the tables, but didn't seem much help to this kid waiter. Someone help this guy! The "white sangria" tasted more like Tang than anything else, didn't even get a buzz off of it. The bartender also had the personality of a doorknob. Don't they realize that the tip is greater if they just put in some kind of effort?! I will be back solely based on the delicious food, but I am hoping the restaurant management staff will train up their employees.
