"Yes, this is a chain restaurant, but Barcelona Wine Bar is still worth the visit given its lively patio and bustling happy hour. The Spanish charcuterie and cheese options take up half the menu, and its follow-up D.C. location, in Cathedral Heights, is less often noisy and crowded than its 14th Street companion." - Missy Frederick, Tim Ebner

"Loud, sleek, and perennially packed, Barcelona Wine Bar’s large menu of tapas makes a perfect option for a casual but chic group dinner just a mile away from campus. Don’t miss the jamón and manchego croquetas, spinach-chickpea cazuela, or the mussels." - Lisa Ruland

Half the staff is super friendly and nice 😃 while the other half seemed like they wanted to quit ASAP and made you feel like you're a burden for coming 😡. They probably already know who is who. Also their happy hour beer has the same price as their regular menu beer. 🤣 The regular beer already at a good price... it's just that people don't want to pay the same price when it's on happy hour. Hint: if you up the price of the regular menu beer you can pay bar-tenders more so they are nicer and people will feel like they are getting a deal when there is happy hour and feel more welcomed because of the nicer staff -- you're welcome 🙏🏻 Have an amazing day ☺️

Amazing experience! Lady was our Bartender tonight 🙏🏽 she was really friendly, patient and knowledgeable. She recommend both desserts, churros and olive oil cake 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. We decide to try Boquerones, Octopus, Gambas (shrimp), patatas bravas and mushrooms! Everything was amazing!!!! Never tried a place like this for tapas around this area, really similar to Spain ❤️

Google
Both delicious and reasonably priced! Neighborhood parking available. We had 2 generous wedges of cheese, 2 tapas and chicken “big dish” (peppers very hot!). Too full for dessert. Pedro was an excellent server. We plan on returning

Had dinner at Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant in Cathedral last night and it was awesome! Virginia was our waitress and she was fantastic. Super friendly and made us feel right at home. She knew the menu really well and helped us pick some great dishes. She completely sold us on the menu and we just ended up letting her order all of the plates. Virginia checked on us just the right amount and made sure we had everything we needed. Great food, great service—definitely coming back!

I thought the food was decent but not great. The paella was cooked well in terms of texture but lacked depth and flavor. Most the tapas were ok but over seasoned. I think they have the cooking methods down but need to be able to layer the flavors better. Service was good and attentive.

Google
The Barcelona is a really delicious tapas bar / restaurant. The room is air-conditioned with a very trendy and nice decoration. There are also tables outside. The tapas are as good as in Spain, the waiters are very nice and the sangria is really delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant that I love!

Google
We chose Barcelona Wine Bar near the National Cathedral for a large business dinner. Our guests and team were impressed with the food selection! We chose the option of arrival tapas, family style entrées, and desserts in their private room. These options and the venue were perfect for our event. I would also like to say that Barcelona's management and staff was a delight to work with. They were very communicative and accommodating to our group! I would highly recommend.

Google
Weekday dinner for 2. All the restaurant staff we interacted with were very friendly and efficient. They made good suggestions for tapas order when asked. Broccolini, prawns, chorizo with figs, and churros were excellent. The cauliflower and sangria were pretty good. Overall a really nice experience.

Yelp
The place was packed on a Friday night. It is really loud in the front room to the right. I could barely hear fly friend. Our waitress, Carmen, took good care of us. I started with the Bourbon spice rack cocktail. Delicious! We had the French Rose wine with our meal which was crisp and the perfect compliment to the meal. We ordered 6 tapas to share. Two didn't arrive and when we straightened it out with Carmen, we decided to just cancel one of them. The Beet salad was refreshing. It had both red and golden beets and the cheese was high quality. I would order it again. We both liked it a lot and loved that it came out first. Chorizo and figs were very good. Love the flavor of the chorizo but the figs were a big vinegary. They went well together though. The pappardelle with rabbit was tasty but too hot for me. The Salmon was another excellent dish that I would order again. The skin was crispy. Loved the jamon and manchego cheese croquettes. Would order again for sure. Would return but maybe sit in the back and come on a weekday!

Yelp
I never thought that my Sunday night could have been so extraordinary at Barcelona on Wisconsin Avenue. I have been at the other location on 14th Street and if you are looking for something more intimate with more of a local's vibe this is the place for you. From the moment I stepped in, I was instantly enchanted by the vibrant and welcoming ambiance. The interior is stunning with a perfect blend of modern elegance and cozy charm that made me feel right at home. Dining in solo I sat at the bar, and this was the moment I was greeted by an amazing young bartender named Leidy. I never met anyone who was so skilled at not only multitasking and preparing more than 15 drinks a minute but also her ability to do so gracefully while making each guest feel like a priority. Her energy and enthusiasm stood out and it felt as though it made everyone's work go by smoothly and efficiently. I was surprised by the fact that she is a single mother of three beautiful children. You could see the love and pride she has for her work and many of the other regulars vouched for her incredible work ethic. I got to know the rest of the crew, and everyone was so inviting and hard-working that it truly elevated the experience to one of a kind. Of course, the food and drinks were top-notch and were served so quickly that you didn't even feel like you waited for them at all. This is my first time giving a review ever so if you are still reading know that my experience was so incredible that it is a great pleasure for me to leave a review for Barcelona. Thanks to all for an unforgettable night!

Yelp
Nice experience. Well executed fish tapas. Very attentive stuff and beautiful outdoor seating.

Suzie Z.

Yelp
First time here for happy hour and the dishes are absolutely delicious. Outdoor seating is a great vibe in this weather and I enjoyed the entire experience. I got my cocktail for 50% off and got to try other tapas/desserts on the regular menu too. Will definitely be back to try other dishes in the future.

Yelp
Barcelona is cozy and intimate on weeknights, but can get pretty busy and loud on weekend nights! However, the service is always great and the food and drinks are delicious. Their sangria is affordable and good (especially on a warm summer night) and the tapas are great! The first time I came here, we were offered dessert on the house and we got the olive oil cake. Highly recommend this dessert as it is moist and not too sweet with a touch of sea salt on top! Overall this location is a fun, local neighborhood spot with a great ambiance.

Yelp
In asking friends and family about recommendations for a place to eat in DC, multiple responses said Barcelona wine Bar, so I gave it a try. It was a close walk from home and I was seated immediately, without a reservation, despite what looked to be a busy night. There was indoor and outdoor seating but I chose indoor give it was a bit warm out and I was curious to see what the inside looked like. The place was big, however tables were spaced to provide a level of intimacy. There was a trio of wait staff that took excellent care of us - thank you! The menus was simple but complete with everything you may want for wine and tapas. We started with fresh bread and olive oil, followed bulky olives, roasted asparagus and seared scallops over puréed carrots and lentils - excellent! Our main course was a full order (mid-size butt would easily feed four) plates of chicken, steak, pork chop, and sausage. I was getting the meat sweats just looking at it! Everything was perfectly prepared and presented but we barely got started before we need to save room for dessert. The flan was excellent and when paired with a rich black coffee, made for a perfect ending. I had a wonderful experience and would love to return.

Yelp
We really wanted to enjoy this, but wow - bit of a disaster evening at Barcelona. I'll start with the fact that when the manager came by our table and asked, "how is your evening going?" I was honest and said, "it's been a little dramatic!" She was very kind, listened to our concerns, and took care of some items on the bill. However, we just can't honestly say that we'll be back. I made reservations ahead of attending a performance nearby. We were slightly early to our reservation but were seated right away at a very skinny table adjacent to the bar area. You could tell that the dining room was not prepared for dinner service. Tables were still being moved and rearranged as we were ordering and being served appetizers. At one point I was asked to stand and move so they could get different chairs and tables in. This new arrangement left us stranded in a little awkward island to ourselves in a walkway from the front of the house to the back. We were also in a perfect draft spot from the front door where we were inhaling gas fumes from problem with the building next door, (jackhammers on the sidewalk...it was a whole thing!). I realize that THIS is not their fault, but it didn't make for a nice atmosphere. The waiter took 15 minutes to bring our wine bottle to our table and another 10 to come back for our order. Then an item was left off but we were offered a tasting of another option instead while we waited on our original order. Like I said, just a mess. The dishes were just ok - heavy handed on the oil and garlic. Unfortunately my fiancé got sick later that evening from the amount of garlic that was on the last dish we had (hanger steak). Rushed service, weird ambiance, and bad experience with the food. Again, appreciate the manager taking care of a few things, but I would try something else in the area before returning.

Yelp
This packed on a Wednesday night?! My goodness; definitely make reservations. Though, seeing so many people at 9pm got my hopes up and I was not disappointed. Extensive wine menu, but I stuck with the white sangria that was delicious with all the citrus fruits. Tapas style but the portions are fairly sufficient. Thought we would ball out on multiple plates; 2-4 plates each treated us well enough. I was nervous at first since I don't eat beef or pork, but the vegetarian meals were delicious! Would've loved more chickpea in the cazuela. The true star of the show? The almond chocolate cake!! And to think I almost skipped out ok dessert!!! The warmth, the mix of flavors, the gooeyness; all to die for and it held up well the next day in the microwave. Our waitress was also impeccable. Making sure every need was taken care of and no rock left unturned! Lovely place and love how it stays open late.

Yelp
Lovely ambiance and great food. I had actually come from another restaurant where they didn't service us for two hours and so we left so we came here to Barcelona and we told him the story and they actually comped us a free dish. We ordered the octopus and the beef empanadas and a chickpea spinach dish and spicy broccolini. My wife had a cocktail. all delicious all lovely. This is gonna become a regular spot for us.

Sera K.

Yelp
I came here yesterday to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend and we enjoyed it a lot. We got some charcuterie and the broccolini, wild boar spare ribs, chorizo with sweet and sour figs, and wine. The spare ribs were so soft, the broccolini had a great grilled flavor, and the charcuterie paired well with the wine. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because we had to wait 40+ minutes even though we had a reservation for 8:15 pm. I would definitely recommend coming earlier in the evening on a Friday or Saturday night or coming on a weekday instead. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant as well as the service, despite having to wait. Some of the best tapas I have had in the MD/DC area!

Andy Y.

Yelp
An absolute favorite amongst our family and the out of town guest we brought straight from landing to here! It was their introduction to the area and they enjoyed it plate by plate. Their flight delayed an hour but the restaurant had the flexibility to accommodate our party if 7...but would recommend to make reservations especially for a Friday evening. From seating to leaving the service was very catering and every recommendation (food and drinks) was perfect. They even have a kids menu for the little ones, but you have to ask as it isn't on the menu. The scene was busy and fun! Parking wasn't too bad as we were able to find street parking after a couple drive-bys. Highly recommend a visit and for us...we will be back! Enjoy!

Yelp
So I actually frequent this location. I had not been back since last year. This time it fell a little short of my expectations but not all was lost. Barcelona's menu is tweaked seasonally so some new dishes (to us) were tried like the short rib and crudo. There is a picture of the menu as well! In summary, we ordered 5 tapas, 2 were 5 stars and 3 were 3 stars. Dessert was delicious! 5 stars. Service was excellent. Barcelona's servers are always knowledgeable about the menu, polite and management is on the floor to take care of you. We didn't drink this time but as a wine bar they're pretty epic and know their wine especially if you need recommendations! Into the food ratings: Marinated olives- 3 stars They're olives. But usually it's better and simpler. This time it was crowded with carrots and cauliflower and it's not described this way in the menu. It also tasted like - olives. Nothing to elevate. Salmon crudo- 5 stars Just delicious. Plated beautifully. Croutons added a bit of crunch. Flavourful. A little reminiscent of smoked salmon as opposed to raw but still great! Broccoli Rabe- 3 stars Lacked acidity. A little overcooked / wilted. Wasn't my fave. Have had previously where it was crunchy and vibrant! Maybe bad night for broccoli rabe. Short Rib- 5 stars Delicious! Tender! Seasoned well with the garlic and onion! I'm not sure if it was a purée of potatoes beneath the rib but it was well paired. Also tasty and delicious! I wanted to order another! Shishito peppers- 3 stars May have also been bad night for the peppers by Barcelona standards. This was still good and better peppers than most restaurants. They're soft, charred and still crunchy. Something was different/ missing this time. We asked for more salt to enjoy them. Dessert - Flan Catalan was so full bouncy soft delicious. This is a must have dessert here! I tried the olive oil cake and it was also pretty good. Came out warm! And a little reminiscent of corn bread !

Yelp
Good food! Good service (in all fairness, we did sit at the bar)! Good ambience!! I'll come back! Soon!!

Yelp
Barcelona is always packed, for good reason. Our favorite small Plates: the olives, blistered shishito peppers, gambas in garlic oil and slivers of garlic, steak paillard, the meatballs, Swiss shard. You can't miss the patatas bravas, slathered in spicy sauce. In a group, the paella to share is incredible. Cathedral Heights is a bit of a food desert so I'm so glad Barcelona officially made it through the pandemic!

Roxlin T.

Yelp
Oh my lanta... made reservations for 1945 had our table almost 9. I asked the host multiple times for our table, 1st answer was we're working on it. Another answer i got was she couldnt do anything about it--its just those typical friday and couldnt put a time limit--i think u should put time limit specially on weekends. i dont get the point of making reservations and making ur customers wait that loooong!!! And the worst part is there were these group of teenagers sitting on this table just sitting done eating done paying and nobody said something to them.. good thing Leo had the guts to let them leave. All thanks for him coz i was so ready to leave. The food was great thats why i chose barcelona to celebrate my birthday. Love the food all the food we ordered. Everybody loved the food specially the paella mariscos and the squid ink.

Yelp

Yelp
We went to Barcelona to celebrate a few things, and like our first experience there we were blown away by the food. This time, it was extra special- were so fortunate to have Mary as our waitress. She made amazing wine recommendations, and curated us two wonderful flights that we then went to buy a bottle to enjoy with our tapas. She was always there checking on us, making sure we had what we needed. We noticed that even when she wasn't helping us out, she was running all over the place helping out others. We only wish she didn't have to split our tip (she was a co-server that night). Thank you Mary for making our night perfect! We hope to see you again at our next night out.

Brittney W.

Yelp
This place is soooooo cute and yummy. I came around 6pm on a beautiful Saturday night and the place was not crowded but it was starting to pick up. I had the broccolini, potatoes with the sauce on top, and a small veggie paella. It was more than enough food for myself and a friend. If I came back alone, I would probably just get a paella, eat half, and take the rest home. Portions are good and the food is quite yummy without feeling unhealthy. I will definitely recommend this spot to others.

Vee L.

Yelp
Very nice place for a group dinner but a bit overpriced. We came in with a large group and reservation but still waited 30+ minutes for a table to be ready. Once seated, service was quick and food came out rather quickly. We did need to remind them about some dishes that never reached our table but once the waitstaff was alerted we got them quickly and they were fresh, so I think it was just a mix-up on a busy night. Some of my favorite dishes of the night were the whipped sheep's cheese, pork belly, and mahi mahi a la plancha. The white sangria is also fantastic and refreshing, I'll definitely be stopping by for more of that over the summer. The olive oil cake was also delicious. I only tried the tapas this visit so I can't speak to the quality of the larger plates.

Donyiel C.

Yelp
More wine please!! So glad I picked this place last night. Met my date here and we had a blast! I've been to the 14th Street location a few times but wanted to try this location. Their style and setup are different and unique in their own right. Probably much easier to find parking here (well for me at least). I did observe this location isn't as dimly lit as 14th Street! If you trying to hide someone, then maybe try the 14th Street one! I was on IG drooling at pics of the hanger steak, one of the popular dishes served here but unfortunately, they were out last night. That just means I'll have to come back. Regardless, I'm coming back! Arrived at our reservation time, was warmly greeted by Ben and got seated shortly after! Our servers, Emma and Noah were amazing! Super helpful with suggestions for food and wine. They were very personable and fun! Ben and Rob also stopped by to check on us and chat. I really appreciated the excellent customer service! Since this is a tapas place, several small plates will be needed or a large plate (but those dishes can take much longer). I wasn't starving but I did have my heart set on that steak. I tried the paillard frites and it wasn't bad but very tiny considering the price of $14.50! Again, I wasn't hungry really so I was ok! I was here for the wine and company and that was fantastic!! I usually prefer red over white for wines so I stuck with that! We enjoyed the Earth First, Belinda and Ballena Reserva!! There was an entire book of wines and spirits to choose from. I don't think you can come here and not find something you like!

Yelp
Great location, Nice environment, polite bartenders and perfect sangria! I also loved the empanadas they serve there. Truly recommend

Yelp
Have a reservation @8p Friday night. Came and still have to wait over 45mins. Finally get to sit down @8:54p. Our waitress was friendly and sweet. The ambiance matches the style of the vibe here. The foods here are small portions and I actually like it so I can order whatever I want to try.

Karin R.

Yelp
excellent food and service at reasonable prices. we tried it for brunch and the Spanish torta and Serano ham eggs benedict and beef empanadas were delicious! Also recommend the bacon covered dates

Chris L.

Yelp
Love, love, love this restaurant. This is what tapas was meant to be. So many choices...all of it great. Full bar service and beer on tap. So many charcuterie options...meat and cheeses from all over the world. One item you must try is the garlic shrimp. So good we ordered a second round! Had the bacon wrapped dates...superb. Hanger steak...excellent. Cauliflower was very good but they went heavy on the salt. Everything else was really superb. Tapas plates are perfect size for two. Come here...eat 6-8 tapas plates and leave satisfied!

Yelp
Wish I took pictures. We came here on a Saturday night. It was fully booked but they asked if we would want to try patio. It was super heated so was perfect. Everything we ordered was ver delicious. Food came quick and our waiter put in our dishes slowly. She would check to see our progress then add the rest. Definitely recommend this place for date night. Or just a causal night out . Hand down best tapas I've been to.

Yelp
This was my first time at this location and so I was really excited that it was open for limited indoor-seating. I made a dinner reservation online the day before coming, and so immediately we arrived, we were seated. The lighting inside is a little dim and can be romantic, in case you would like to picture the ambiance. I ordered the croquetas, hanger steak, and paella mariscos. The croquetas were so good, they came out hot and ready to be devoured. The steak was also very tasty and well-made and I wish it was a tard bit more generous, portion-wise. The paella was really good, a little burnt at the bottom but I think that was a little intentional, it added some smoky flavor. The seafood included tasted fresh but I wish there was a tard bit more flavor to the rice. Nonetheless I enjoyed the dish! The staff was absolutely amazing the entire time we were there! Lovely choice for a tapas menu in the area.

Maria J.

Yelp
Love coming to BWB. This is such a good place to go to after work and catch up with friends while drinking our wine. The empanadas are so juicy and tasty and honestly enough because the main dish is the wine :)

Hannah B.

Yelp
Food was good but the overall experience was disappointing. I'll start with the positives - most of the tapas we ordered were very good, albeit a little pricey for the portion size. I particularly liked the patatas bravas, croquetas, and the tortilla. Also, the servers were helpful and friendly. Now for the experience - not so good. We had a reservation (not specific to inside or outside) and arrived a few minutes early, but we were told we had to be seated outside despite the rain. When I asked how long the wait would be to be seated inside they wouldn't provide an answer and made it clear that it wasn't an option for us. Outside we were under a tent but it was pouring and we were still getting splashed and they couldn't turn on the heaters because of the rain. We were also one of only a few parties seated outside and we were forgotten about on multiple occasions. It seemed like maybe they overbooked for the night, but the person who seated us was not sympathetic at all and instead rather curt when we asked about being inside. At a tapas place the atmosphere is part of the fun, so it was really disappointing for this to happen when we had a reservation.

Yelp
Came here with a friend on a Saturday around 5:30 pm. The place was full of people, but the service was attentive. The Malbec was delicious. Perfectly balanced and dry, it went well with the heaviness of the dishes we ordered and was a great complement to our plates. I also loved that the quantity of 3 oz was perfect to share between the two of us, as neither of us were heavy drinkers so it was the perfect amount (rather than having to get a full glass). The jamon y manchego croquetas were perfect. The four balls were served on a simple white rectangular plate. All four were uniformed in size and centered perfectly on dollops of garlic aioli sauce. The balls were hot, which made the cheese melt in the mouth. It was a savory and very rich bite and both my partner and my favorite dish of the night. The gambas al ajillo were served in a round dish. There were about 5 shrimps inside the dish. The shrimp were tender but the dish was not super flavorful. The shrimp dish was served warm, but not hot. This made the oil great for dipping with the bread as we ate the shrimp. The chicken thigh was served on wooden plate on top of a herbed yogurt. I loved the presentation of the dish. I like that the thighs filled up the entire round wooden dish, making the plate look full and appealing. The thighs came hot and were super tender. The lemon juice and yogurt sauce further enhanced the juiciness and flavor of the chicken. I would definitely get this dish again. The trout was another one of our favorite dishes. It was served on a round white plate and the trout was elegantly plated on a bed of the green sauce, which paired well with the light flavor of the trout. I loved that the flesh was extremely light and tender, perfectly moist, with a slightly crispy skin. The dish was warm and felt like a light contrast to the chicken. The broccolini was served on top of a white rectangular dish. It felt like there was a lot of broccolini piled on top of each other and some of the broccolini were poking out from the plate as opposed to being contained. It probably could have used a larger plate to be honest. I did like that the broccolini was plated on top of the romanesco, but could have used the romanesco sauce on top as well, as it led to some pieces having romanesco while others without. I like the crispness of the broccolini, and it was a great vegetable dish to go with the heavier tapas we had ordered. The eggplant caponata was served in a round dish, which was great for containing all the sauces. I liked that the dish was slightly sweet and smoky, and the sauce also went great with the bread. I did not love that it wasn't served warm. It almost felt like it was chilled (although maybe that's how the dish is supposed to be?) Other than the temperature though, the dish was really flavorful and I enjoyed it overall.

Yelp
The drinks are really good the food service is really good ambiance is good ass well my mom loves this bar

Yelp
I was so excited to dine at Barcelona Wine Bar! Unfortunately, I was very disappointed by my experience here. We had a reservation for a party of 25, we were in contact with an event coordinator and everything. We were sat after about a 30 minute delay, and there wasn't any proper waiting area (especially for a larger group, which is fine). We were literally all crowding the entrance and we were very much in the way of the staff, constantly having to move when they were passing with food etc. Our table still wasn't fully ready yet when they did finally seat us, so people in our party were just kind of standing around awkwardly. When we were finally sat, our server came by to get our drink orders, he ASKED us if we were of legal drinking age instead of asking for IDs. He then looped back around asking (some of) us to see our IDs. I asked to change my drink order assuming he hadn't put in the order yet since he decided to ask for our IDs, but he told me he already put in the order (thought this was funny to check IDs AFTER putting in the order). Luckily, I was able to be accommodated and my drink was changed. Finally it was time to eat, we had shareable plates. The staff delivering the food was often rude and we were never told what was being place down (we did have a preset menu, but I would have liked to know what each dish was). It was $50 to just eat and participate in the meal so I was hoping for stronger service. My champagne was also served in a wine glass vs. a champagne flute. The bartender was so rude, I left the table to order a surprise shot for the birthday girl and he acted like he did not want my money. At the end of the night my previously mentioned cancelled bottle was not removed from the check, which luckily I got removed with ease. We were supposed to be done with our reservation at 10:45, due to their 3 hour time limit. We didn't end up leaving until 12:30 due to their poor time management and delays. We also were only allowed to split our 25 person tab with 4 cards, which is understandable, BUT extremely difficult when the bill comes out to around $2,000. The food was pretty delicious but, overall I don't think this place is worth the hype or the money. Or maybe my expectations were set too high.

Yelp
I had the bravas and branzino it was amazing the manager was definitely cool had an amazing experience because of ber, she is fantastic. Helpful and seriously kind and funny. she was Katie, did right by us. Will be back to experience more of her kindness and wonderful experience. Please do yourselves a favor and ask to see her!

Yelp
MARIA IS THE BEST!!! Super sweet and always remembers our order. Also gives great recommendations for food and cocktails. Highly recommend stopping in when she's behind the bar!

Yelp
What a dumpster fire of a spot. I have no idea how these guys are still in business. let's start off with how disgusting the location is- would you love to walk into a spot where there is legit trash strewn about through-out the restaurant? If so, this is your spot! How do you feel about going to the bathroom and having papertowels thrown all over the ground? If that is your sort of spot, this is the place for you. How would you feel about going to dinner with your boss and having your utensils have dried old food on them? Well, if you like that sort of things- come on in. Do not get me started on the service. How the hell do you have servers on the tables who have no idea what the menu is, no, like I am actually curious. Our server at one point asked us to just point on the menu what we wanted because, "I don't know the wines" so when you recocomendded that previous wine-- did you know it? Or did you just recommended it out of the blue and not listen to what I was asking you. Marco(?) What a creepy thing to say to my BOSS...I mean have a grip dude, when and where would you think that is an okay thing to ask a woman? I am not going to repeat it on a public page- but thank you for making the rest of my night and I am assuming her evening as awkward as possible. In the end, the food is wildly over priced for what you get when you combine it with the total experience. I would (honestly) just go to Wegmans and walk through the store eating cheese and meats while having a glass of wine then walk back into this Barcelona. Alex(?) you need to check up on the menu. That was truly embarrassing how little you know of the food you are serving- what were to happen if I had an allergy? would you pretend you know what you are talking about in that situation?

Yelp
We have come to this (and the other DC location) MANY times. If this were our first experience, we would NEVER return. In our previous visits, service was too notch. Today, not so much. We've had to ask several times for our order. Each time, it's felt as if we were a bother. While they were very busy when we arrived, that is not the case now and the service is less than desirable. We did speak to both our server and the manager, who took 2 tapas off our bill. One would think after expressing our concerns, it would improve...but we would be wrong. It is now 3 hours into our reservation and we are currently flagging down ANY server for our drink (we ordered 20 min ago) and our check. We are seriously considering not returning...

Yelp
Just had our anniversary dinner at Barcelona. Wow. Such an amazing experience. Katie - a million plus stars. Can't say enough about her wonderful touch who has made every single time we've been in such a tailored, intimate and unique experience. Hands down best and sweetest manager! An instant friend! Anna - knows her drinks, bartender extraordinaire. Lovely personality with warm and friendly vibes "Mo" - knows everyone; the patriarch, warm, friendly and so very kind Daniel - Nashville baby, this guy knows how to make a cocktail and make his people smile Thank you for the much needed night(s) out! Will be back (every weekly date night!)

Yelp
The food and drinks here are AMAZING. The roasted delicata squash, garlic shrimp, grilled pork skewers, cauliflower, and bacon wrapped dates were all devoured. Thanks to the visiting manager, Malcolm, my friends and I had great experience. We give 6 out of 5 stars.

Yelp
I know there's a lot of dishes in the pic. I was hungry! Barcelona was a perfect spot for tapas to try a lot of new things (Squash Blossoms, Corn Cazuela - a great suggestion from Corinne at the bar) or old faves (Hanger Steak). Those three were the faves in these pics, but everything was good. Not pictured: warm Olive Oil cake that I bought to eat the next day but never even made it home. I ate it on the way - lol. I'm definitely going back - their menu is extensive enough that I can create a new tapas dinner without repeating. The Octopus looked divine and I'm definitely trying it when I return. The restaurant was beautiful and busy. But at 7 I immediately was seated at the bar. Barcelona is a new fave and I'm looking forward to see what else Corinne suggests :)

Yelp
Came here tonight after about a year for dinner with my close friend and boyfriend. The servers and bartenders have changed since I've last been here, but our server, Ellie, was fantastic! My guests and I had the Jamón Serrano, Mangalica, Trout A La Plancha, Galbas Al Ajillo, Jamón & Manchego Croquetas, Spiced Beef Empanadas and the New York Strip. Everything was out of this world amazing!!! You couldn't go wrong with any of those things. Cocktail wise, we had the Whiskey Root, Bourbon Spice Rack, Summer Street Sling, and the *Leaf* Gin & Tonic. I definitely recommend the Bourbon Spice Rack & the Leaf Gin & Tonic. I've been coming here for 3.5 years and I guarantee that I will continue coming here as long as the restaurant is open.

Yelp
The food was mostly good, but the tapas need to have individual ratings because some were exceptional and some were subpar (See below for ratings). Our server was very courteous but a bit slow. Whoever was on aux for the music was having an identity crisis. A lot of the tables are the plastic ones you see at barbecues with a tablecloth over it. RATINGS FOR TAPAS: Pear and Kale Salad: 6/10 (kinda spicy) Potatoes: 9.5/10 (very good, but pretty much just overpriced potatoes and Mayo) Broccolini: 3/10 ("tastes like eating straight from a tree") Chicken Thigh: 8/10 (pretty good, not exceptional) Albondigas: 7/10 (they're just meatballs) Spinach and Chickpea: 7/10 (pretty good but served cold) Brussels Sprouts: 9.5/10 (I had a spiritual experience with the Brussel sprouts) Gambas: 9.5/10 (very good)

Yelp
We came to Barcelona Wine Bar for a celebration dinner. Our server Luis was impecable. He was so attentive and walked us through the entire Barcelona experience. Mario the Manager & Luis were extremely friendly and went beyond basic customer service etiquette. Definitely the perfect place for our celebration tonight & cannot wait to come back!

Yelp
Food was good but Yaquelin's service was even better. If i knew she would be my server everytime, i would frequent here much more often. When eating torta española, I prefer mine cooked medium to medium rare but Barcelona makes them all well done; still tasty though. Mucho thank YOU Yaquelin !

Yelp
I drove from Potomac Shores, VA to take my cousin to her 1st wine tasting. The hostess desk is as far as we decided to go. The greeting we received left us feeling unwelcome and and the way the hostess spoke to us was as if we didn't belong. Not sure if it was my cousin's dreads or our attire that threw her off. The Manager Ben tried to save the whole interaction when he heard me tell her we would not be staying. He even followed up the next day, but by that time it was too late. The bad taste was already in our mouths. He asked us to stay, we chose to go and spend our money at an establishment happy to have us experience their wine and cuisine. I have dined at this location and the 14th St location a few times and never had this experience. Not sure when they decided to change to an "exclusive" restaurant.

Yelp
Service: Phenomenal. I came here as a group of 3 and they gave us a table right by the bar. I was not the biggest fan of it because you feel the people at the bar right on top of you. I also have to say that the table is way too small for three people to sit there and be comfortable that the plates wont be knocked over a fall off. The server was nice and informative but I can't say that for all the workers there. I observed the interactions people had and it wasn't a joyous and cheerful for everyone. Food: Speed Dating Version Wine Geek Wine Flight - worth it only if you have enough room on the table for it. Albondigas - MUST HAVE! Ask for extra bread to drip into the sauce. Jamon & Manchego Croquetas - very heavy. Have this towards the en of the meal to not feel disgusted right at the beginning. Spiced Beef Empanadas - must get multiples! These come in pairs, so if you have more people, order accordingly. Chorizo with Sweet & Sour Figs - Very figgy. If you don't like figs, then you won't like this dish. On to my next food adventure...

Yelp
Food is consistently good but the service tonight was very sub-par... Not really the servers fault either but the kitchen and bar did him no favors. Also, the Manager wasn't supporting the front of house staff at all (plaid collared shirt), too bad!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I have heard about this place for a while and final got a choice to go. I was truly great full for the experience. I got the Whiskey Root drink to start and my girl got the sangria. Both drinks were extremely refreshing. This restaurant is a tapas style place which gave us the opportunity to try different plates (please see images). We didn't get a chance to take pictures of the other plates that we got. They didn't stand a chance haha. I recognize a bartender their, Mohamed, that I worked with before briefly. He went out of his way to make my experience with my girlfriend lovely. Very blessed for this experience. Food was AMAZING.

Yelp
This is a perfect place for a tasty and tasteful dinner (tapas style) and/or a drink in Cathedral Heights. We stopped by for a late-night glass of delicious red wine and loved it. While I cannot comment on the food, since we did not have any this time, their wine list is extensive, with many wines available by the glass. Our amazing server gave us the option of sampling the wine for free before ordering. Each of us ended up ordering a glass of the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (Chile), which, for lovers of full-bodied red wines like us, definitely hit the spot. There is extensive indoor and outdoor seating. Outside, the tables are spaced widely apart, which I was glad to see, as this helps to prevent the spread of covid. Overall, I was so glad we chose to stop here for our night cap--the ambiance was classy without being pretentious, the wine was delicious, and the service was top notch.

Yelp
This place constantly has bread sitting out in the hallway for people to walk past going to sweaty workout in ballet classes. It's unknown whether this bread is being used in the restaurant or not. David this is still happening. What is going to take for this to stop occurring?

Yelp
Great wine list and assorted tapas. Desserts are worth trying as well (flan and chocolate/coffee cake)

Yelp
i went on a date here the other night because my husband and I decided to finally start an open relationship!! Yay The drinks at this bar are really cute and delicious, the charcuterie board + cheeses were sooo well put together I enjoyed every bite. I would come back again, but probably with another date because the last one was what some might call a "minute man" ‍
