Miami’s 11 Best Spanish Restaurants | Eater Miami

"For the trendsetting types, Barceloneta yields Spanish and Mediterranean tapas, cocktails, and a buzzy happy hour scene. Set in Sunset Harbour, the corner bistro brews gin and tonics, martinis, sangria, and Barcelona-sourced beers and snacks like shishito peppers, fried calamari, and pan con tomate." - Eater Staff

Barceloneta Review - South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"Barceloneta isn’t one of our top picks in Sunset Harbour (that honor goes to Lucali, Casa Isola, and Pubbelly) but it’s a solid option—especially if you just want to stick to drinks and small plates. While the food is just OK, Barceloneta does have some lovely outdoor seating and a long cocktail menu, so it's a perfectly fine spot for a spontaneous Friday night dinner when it’s too pretty to sit inside. Just stick to the smaller tapas—like the pan con tomate, boquerones del cantábrico, and croquettes—over larger entrees like the bland paella." - Ryan Pfeffer

Google
Just tremendous variety on the menu. There were many choices of classic plates and at 16:30 with happy hour good end enough different options and all were excellent. Great drinks and super friendly and attentive service, with Carmen make this a 5 star and a great change of pace in Miami Beach. Nice place. Definitely will be back.

Google
Delicious bites and great service. Every plate was phenomenal. Highly recommend the Shishito Peppers and the oxtail dumplings. Gin and tonics were also great. The Farmers was so refreshing.

Google
We had a fantastic experience thanks to our server Iñaki. From the moment we were seated, he was friendly, attentive, and professional. He knew the menu well, made great recommendations, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. It’s rare to find someone who genuinely enjoys what they do, and it absolutely showed in their service. I’ll definitely be coming back and I hope to be seated in their section again!

Google
Hire more Kevin's!!! Don't know how many people know my guy, but please ask about him! It's my first time here and i did a complete blind recommendation with no restrictions. When i tell you guys he delivered.....bruh....he delivered! My only fault was that i had ate prior to landing so i could not destroy each plate but i promise you all that if you ask for a recommendations they'll deliver.

Agustin was the best. Had diner at the bar and his service was excellent. Was happy to make adjustments to the order. Never waited for a beer everything came promptly. Food was excellent and everything arrived just as ordered and HOT.

Yelp
Long overdue review for Barceloneta Miami - what a gem! I first went back in March for my birthday with a group of six, and it was pure perfection on a Saturday night. I love the vibe here - especially the outdoor seating - so relaxing and refreshingly different from the usual Miami scene. The tapas are incredible. Some favorites: the cheese plate (truly amazing), gambas al ajillo, and arroz negro - all absolutely delicious. We just went again this past Saturday for an early bite with friends - tapas and drinks - and it was wonderful as always. Special shoutout to our server, Iñaki, who was fantastic - super attentive and made the evening even better. Highly recommend Barceloneta Miami for great food, wine, cocktails, and chill vibes!

Yelp
Hadn't been here in over 6 years and was glad to find that the food quality remained! Had the berenjenas and patatas bravas first and then forgot to take pictures of the rest which included croquetas de setas and queso machengo, pimientos de piquillo, tortilla de patatas and finally an Arroz Negro. All of this for 4 people and it was more than enough! The tortilla de patatas in my opinion is a bit small for its price fyi. Not featured in the drink menu is their sangria which is full with flavor and comes in a big glass. We sat outside to enjoy the Miami "winter weather" which we know doesn't last for long. It was packed outside so make sure to make a reservation!

Yelp
Omg amazing- the food here was OUTSTANDING- particularly the artichokes and grilled octopus. This indoor outdoor spot is close to the water in an elevated part of Miami Beach, making it a great spot for a date. The waiters are extremely attentive and both food and drink come quickly. Although this place is big it is popular so I do recommend calling ahead for a reservation.

Yelp
Cool neighborhood vibe type of place. Authentic Spanish tapas. Food is amazing. Great happy hour specials. They have so many unique gin cocktails that you won't see anywhere else but also lots of other options if you're not into gin. The sangria is divine.

Yelp
- Make a reservation - Got the croquetas (don't get it, less than average), steak tartare (the dressing overwhelms the steak), and the arroz negro (pretty good) - It was really loud indoors. If the weather is good, I recommend sitting outside - Food came quickly - Service was ok, they were so busy we had to look for them every time we needed something

Yelp
I can't even tell you how bad the service was. one of our wine glasses broke and the waitress never came, I had to go to the bar 10 minutes after it broke to ask for another drink. She only came after we were completely done and ready for the check. Very disappointed for the price.

Yelp
We drove by,and decided to go in. We got a nice table for three near the open kitchen. We were in the mood for light fare and what better place than Tapas. Brussels Sprouts,Kale & Beet Salad, Tabla de Jamón y Queso, Berenjenas con Miel. Pudín de Chocolate con Helado de Avellanas y Cañas, Agua Gaseada Refresco. Everything was delicious. My favorite dishes were the Brussels Sprouts and the Salad. El Manchego & Ibérico do not need explanation. The Berenjena had a very smoked taste, not as sweet as I expected Service was attentive and prompt. Love the Ambiance. We need to go back to explore more the menu.

Yelp
There are so many delicious options at this place! It is probably best to go in a big group so you can order many of the tapas and share. My favorites from what we ordered was the gambas al ajillo and the patatas bravas. I also liked the Arroz de Campo. I thought the shishito Pepper's and boquerones were good but I would not order them again because I would like to try other dishes like the Brussels Sprouts and eggplant. Too many tempting options. The waiter was attentive and recommended the Maracuyá Martino which was perfectly balanced between sweet, sour and a little spicy because it is topped with red pepper flakes. The Los Olivos Martino was also delicious. The restaurant has a great vibe, definitely a spot I would come back to.

Yelp
We had a wonderful date night at Barceloneta! I'm surprised by the average reviews because the night we went here, the food felt authentic to the many times we traveled to Mallorca and Barcelona. We have loved the Italian restaurant next door for years, and so happy we finally stopped here to try it out. We will DEFINITELY be back soon.

Yelp
I was surprised to see this place had only 3 stars on Yelp, but ventured there anyway because it was recommended by a friend. This place was great! The prices are reasonable and the food is hot and fresh. We originally had a reservation for 7, but moved it to 6 when we realized there was happy hour from 5-7. Happy hour included $5 aperitifs, $10 cocktails and wines, and snack/food options for a reduced price. We ordered the arroz de campo and the tempura green beans which were on happy hour. The rice was great and had complex flavors. The green beans were also perfectly hot and crispy. It came with an aoli on the side which was a little bland and heavy to add to a fried food, but still nice to have a dipping sauce. We also ordered the grilled octopus which was not on the happy hour menu but was a reasonable price with a generous portion. It was fresh and cooked perfectly. My partner ordered the margarita which was great. I ordered the happy hour passion fruit martini which I asked if it would be sweet, and was told no. When it arrived, it was too sweet for my taste at the bottom so I only drank half. I ordered a glass of wine after which was great for a house wine. Would definitely return for happy hour and possibly for a group dinner for shareable items.

Yelp
Amazing mushroom croquettes!! We came for dinner and I was a little worried after scanning reviews. Service was excellent! We got to the restaurant early and it wasn't packed on a Sunday night so we were seated early. We ordered the croquettes, patatas bravas, lamb, and the chocolate bread pudding. The croquettes were so good and I would come back just for those! The potatoes were kinda soggy, not crispy on the outside so I wouldn't recommend them. I'm spoiled from perfect potatoes every time in Boston so I sort of expected that these wouldn't be as good. The lamb was good but a little over cooked for my taste (also $34 for 4 chops). The bread pudding was delicious. We got it to share and it was the perfect little treat to end the night. Price wise it's a little more expensive for what you get (compared to Boston where I'm from). The food was good but not amazing. I'd come back for the croquettes, dessert, and the white sangria. I think total with drinks was around $135 and I didn't notice if there was automatic gratuity or not. Good date spot but not fancy enough for a special occasion.

Yelp
Some things I've eaten there tasted sooo good but some didn't. Shishito peppers are def a must if you don't mind too much oil in your food. And the bread they bring is phenomenal. However, the paella was the worse paella I ever had in my life. Didn't have any flavor. Service wasn't good because they don't really speak or understand English. It's a cute spot tho but I'm def not going back.
google avatar

Anton P.

Yelp
Decent tapas place, service is really quick, food is delicious and good cocktails selection. Steak tartare is a must order. Now the atmosphere is really good for a big group indoors, but if you're looking for an ambient date spot this might not be your thing because it's incredibly loud inside, and outside you just get a road and cars driving all the time. Also their tables are kinda close to each other so you end up bumping backs with strangers sometimes.

Yelp
Love Keeping my 5 stars to my fav spot in sunset Harbor. Food is great and so their cocktails. Be back soon

Yelp
The perfect Sunday afternoon vibe! I have been here several times but had never knew that they had GAZPACHO BLOODY MARY! Whoa! Not as heavy as a regular Bloody Mary and definitely tastier in my opinion. You get pepper, garlic, olive oil, black pepper, but none of it felt overwhelming. Great to have a drink that's both padding for the stomach and alcohol! The sun was out, reggae was playing, the service was good and it was super relaxed. I got it with the salpicon de marisco, which was light and fresh tasting, the sauce on top was perfect!

Yelp
I have been to Barceloneta many times for happy hour, their services is always top notch. I came back for the first time since the pandemic and was quite surprised at how much the menu has changed, I loved the old menu more and the happy hour prices prior to the pandemic. It's a hip spot, great outdoor seating, nice indoor decor. The food is ok now but it was better. Definitely will go back for happy hour because the ambience with friends and drinks is always a vibe. Bring back bacon wrapped dates.

Yelp
Bottom line: Sunday brunch at Barceloneta was practically perfect. Great server, tasty choices for both appetizers and entrees, and an amazing dessert to top it all off with at the end. The Deets: In my recent trip to Miami Beach, my friends made sure to schedule Sunday brunch at Barceloneta for the trip. I have to admit if I had just looked at the menu myself without anyone else recommending it, I may have passed on this place. I am so glad I did not pass on it. The experience was great from start to finish. We were sat quickly to our table outside and our amazing server started making sure we understood the menu and took drink/appetizer orders (with an amazing bubbly, positive, and helpful demeanor). We started with ordering Tortilla De Patatas (Spanish potato and onion omelette) and Pan Con Tomate (grated tomato, garlic, olive oil on toasted bread). Both of these starters are delicious choices to get the brunch going. The omelette was so fluffy and delicious, and the grated tomato bread really surprised me in a good way as I am not one for raw tomato usually. For my main entree, I got the Tosta De Salmon Ahumado (avocado, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon on toast) and it was a light and delicious choice that was perfect for a Sunday brunch. I love everything in it...the ingredients came together nicely with the smoked salmon notably some of the best I've had. We topped off a great brunch with the choice of the dessert special Copa De Caramelo to all share that has salty caramel mousse, raspberries, and chocolate crumbs...perfection in every spoonful (check out the spoonful pic if you don't believe me). I came away from Sunday brunch at Barceloneta happy and satisfied, what a great find!

Yelp
As much as I enjoyed my trip to Spain, man, I just can't wait until 10 pm to eat. That's where Barceloneta comes in! At just 5:00, I was already eating my favorite Spanish foods. They have your traditional favorites like shishitos and bravas potatoes. But then they have magical dishes like wahoo crudo, which was one of the most divine things I've ever eaten and the most beautiful. They have different specials every day on either drinks or food. I went on Wednesday, which was their cachopo night. This is like a Spanish Milanese with ham, egg, and mushrooms. It was delicious.

Yelp
Street parking, I easily found a spot. We had made reservations before and should've specified for outside seating, as it was packed. Our waitress was amazing (I can't remember her name, unfortunately). We had the fried calamari, pan con tomate, alcachofas, and pimientos de padron. Everything was delicious!! And was more than enough for 3 people. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
I'm obsessed with tapas and was SO happy to find this place! Really cool atmosphere, nice music, greeeat tapas and drinks. The location is also a positive - Sunset Harbour is a more calm area of Miami Beach. Super chill, far from all the craziness. I had the white sangria (delicious and refreshing) and my husband had some beers. To eat, we started off with the jamon y queso tabla (which is small, but a good start!). Then we ordered croquetas de jamon, patatas bravas and tortilla de patata. Everything amazing! Really love this place, will definitely go back. Made me feel in Spain for a bit! Obs. There is a parking garage nearby so you don't need to worry about finding a spot.

Yelp
I stopped by Barceloneta for an early dinner on a Sunday. I hadn't been here in a few months. We ordered sangria to start, patatas bravas, tortilla de huevos, and pan con tomate. The sangria was not the best, it was really watery and just had a flavor of cinnamon. We had to send it back unfortunately. The food was pretty good. I especially liked the tortilla & pan con tomate. Prices have gone up a bit so it's a little on the pricey side for the tapas and drinks. The service was also not very good that day. Our server was not very attentive. Overall, it's still a pretty solid place to have tapas in Miami Beach. A good variety of items on the menu.
google avatar

Vancy S.

Yelp
The food was delicious! It was my first time. We ordered a variety of small plates to share from the regular menu, which is different from the happy hour menu. The sangria was wonderful. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Rose C.

Yelp
Delicious Spanish food and nice location. The pan con tomate and kale and ensalada de kale y remolacha were both amazing and my favorites. I would come back just for those 2 dishes. Ambiance nice. They have a cute outdoor area. Service was good. Arroz negro was yummy and huge portion, split it with boyfriend and still had leftovers to take home. Everything we had from the drinks to dessert and coffee was good.
google avatar

Courtney A.

Yelp
Food always amazing, service great and super people watching!!!! Come for happy hour and sit outside and watch the local crowd .....
google avatar

Oksana R.

Yelp
Maybe the worst meal I've had in a while.. definitely more of a drinking spot Sangria was good Brussels sprouts are burnt with too much sauce if you're into that Croquettas were mushy and not flavorful served with mayo The prawns were smelly shrimp not prawn Would not return
google avatar

Veronica P.

Yelp
I passed by for a quick bite because the place was empty at noon on a Sunday. I chose a tortilla de setas y espinaca (omelet) and was very very pleased with it. The mushrooms were my favorite part of the dish! I tried the pan con tomate to start and while I really like tomatoes, the dish was a bit underwhelming. The tomatoes didnt have much flavor. Overall, I'm willing to go back and give the place another shot.
google avatar

Julien H.

Yelp
Good service Not good enough food for the price Nice upbeat ambiance So many better options out there.. just skip
google avatar

Yelp
Folks on the beach proper miss out when they don't come here. Menu is on point and the variety of cocktails is even better. Great staff, fast, attentive, but not intrusive. Literally zero to complain about, it's a gem!
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
I pass by this restaurant all the time. Never looked at the menu because it's a Spanish restaurant and usually a pork heavy menu. But I decided to take a look. Got there 5 minutes before happy hour ended. I asked the server if I could still order some happy hour items. He was like no problem at all!! Drinks off the chart amazing. Well made and generous. We ordered a few small plates. Everything was fresh delicious and tasty. The kale salad with goat cheese and walnuts just perfect. The Branzino fillet superb. I wasn't sure which dessert to order. The server said if you don't like it, don't worry about it it'll take it. We could exchange it. Great outdoor patio area. No rush, chill atmosphere, definitely will go back!

Yelp
This is one of those gems that just never goes out of style. Even after all these years, Barceloneta still manages to capture that eclectic Spanish flair with the creative gastronomical approach on fine dining that brings their menu to life in a perfectly ambient way. Exploring through their tapas is the best way to get to know their menu and really savor the aromatic flavors their cuisine is all about. Starting off with the Esqueixadas, the refreshing bites of wahoo with tomato paired with the zest of olive and lemon really creates a burst of flavors that's consistently noteworthy. The Boquerones offer that soft and decadent bite of the sardines topped with truffle and a tomato gelee found only here. Man, what a perfect dish that is! Moving on the Huevos Rotos, the mix of the crunchy potato with the gooey yolk mixed with the sizzling chorizo is simply a dish you might need more than one order of. The croquetas of Jamón ibérico were simply out of this world. The circular globes of goodness were creamy and meaty in every morsel and deserve all the recognition they get for being truly satisfying. To finish it off, we shared an Arroz Negro which is their rendition of a squid ink paella with prawns resembling a very formal version of Congri that was delicious Im every way. After two lychee martinis, and this whole feast- I'm glad we had Aryton's prompt and attentive service as we sat the bar on a busy Saturday night. Everything came out super quickly and the quality is exactly how I expected. Barceloneta is one of the classics that will simply never go out of style nor lose their panache. I'm telling you, this is the spot.

Yelp
Came here last night after Pubbelly Sushi wouldn't sit us til 10pm. I didn't know you had to make reservations. Either way I'm happy I just walked into this place! A good friend of mine was in town & was meeting me up for dinner. Food here is delicious & service was ok (nothing to brag about). My friend order a bunch of tapas & then ordered 2 main dishes. Oh my words the black rice was 'goodness gracious' one word YUM! Sangria is good as well.

El G.

Yelp
Don't make the same mistake i did ! Half a drink, not a whole drink, $20... So, two halves drinks, $40 One tapa $20... To consider a meal you will need 4 tapas, so $80. Think about spending $120 per person. A table of 4, $500... By the time you leave, you'll be thirsty, hungry and looking for another restaurant. Don't believe me ? Try it yourself... Then, don't regret !
google avatar

Tania S.

Yelp
This place does not deserve any stars as they have exclusionary practices in who they want to have eat at their restaurant. A place that had other walk ins arrive without reservation and when it got to us the male hostess didn't ask if we had reservations, just told us that he could only seat us at the bar. Please note there were numerous tables available outside. We knew what was going on and left. *We were in jeans and polos after working a whole day at convention center.

Yelp
One of my favorites in Miami Beach. Service is always good and the food is delicious. They have a nice happy hour menu till 7pm. The Verdejo al Sol drink is AMAZING. Plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas. They have daily specials like 50% off bottles of wine etc. Great neighborhood feel.
google avatar

Yelp
I left one star because I I had no option to put zero the worst customer service in Miami !!! Servers on the phone smoking I asked one of the servers for another drink and he told me wait!!! because he was on the phone No one pick it up my empty plates empty glasses etc Overall one of the worst customer service that I never had Never come back I don't recommended

Peter K.

Yelp
Deceptive selling practices - charged $17 for bread and water! Unfortunately, I didn't read Yelp or Google reviews in advance, as it was a last minute decision to eat here (now that I have read reviews, it seems others have had similar experiences). We sat down at the table where there was an open, nondescript bottle of water on the table. The server instantly poured the water for us as we sat down. While taking our order, the server asked we would like bread, to which we replied "yes." The gambas al ajillo had good flavor but only 6 very small pieces of seafood in the plate. The arroz negro also had good flavor but was mostly rice and hardly any fish or seafood in it. At the end of the meal, I was shocked when the check came & I saw that we were charged $8 for what a reasonable person would've presumed was tap water and $9 for bread. NOWHERE in the menu was there any indication of a charge for bread or water, the server never gave us an option for water (i.e. "tap, sparkling, or still"), and at no point did the server communicate that there would be a charge for bread or water. Even if the food and wine had been spectacular, those deceptive practices alone is reason enough for me to not return.

Yelp
I am a native Spaniard and this was one of the best Spanish restaurants I have ever dined in! It was a great culinary experience with salpicón de mariscos, croquetas, and copa de caramelo being our top choices! Everything else was really good too, though, including the complimentary bread, which was warm and tasty as could be. The place is in a nice location and it has a very pleasant and unique ambiance. The service was great, especially our server, Nerina, who was spectacular- friendly, super nice, knowledgeable, and on top of everything and always making sure that we were taken care of! I highly recommend this restaurant! We went with our three kids, who really enjoyed it as well.

Yelp
Intentaron robarnos!

Yelp
Service below average. Waiter never returned after taking order. Croquetas bland. Shrimp had a sweet sauce. Awful. Grilled squid drowned in bland sauce. Overall very disappointing. Bread was great!

Yelp
Another GOOD FOOD experience, our waitress NERINA was amazing she is a top notch professional and a sweetheart. I'll be back for sure only for her to take care of us.

Yelp
Great place for drinks and happy hour. The cocktail list was incredible with so many choices to choose from. Some of our favorites were the Black India, pera francesa and the maracuya. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Been coming to this place for years always a hit or miss. Today we decided to grab a quick bite and every employee we encountered was nasty and terrible attitude. We came in at 9:28pm asked if we can grab a table the waiter looked confused and said "I don't think so because we close at 10pm" He then said he will ask his manager. We explained that if the kitchen is closing and there is a curfew we don't mind just getting a drink and heading out. Then a blonde server came out and I know she is a server because she waited on us many times before but she told us that she's the manager and that we weren't allowed to stay at the establishment. She repeated that they close at 10pm and I pointed out that it was only 9:30, she then laughed and said thank you for giving me the time and walked away. The restaurant outside seating was full and it was beyond embarrassing. Waiting for a real manager response. Please next door happily sat us and took our order.

Yelp
Very cute place. Always top quality of food. I like the energy and service. Good job guys. Well deserved 5 star.

Yelp
Unique food with a lot of flavor. Great atmosphere, just a bit slow service. Got the kale salad & patatas Bravas and the tomato bread as appetizer. The potatoes had this great spicy Mayo type sauce on it and was so good!! The kale salad had a lot of flavor and the goat cheese with beets was a great compliment.

Yelp
Great food and ambiance. Drinks are well made and generous! Friendly service and parking is never an issue.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant because I'm really critical of Spanish restaurants. This has all the traditional favorites I would just say the prices are more expensive but it's to be expected in Miami Beach. I give it 5 stars because I liked everything that I ordered. Pulpo was cooked perfectly

Yelp
Soooo good absolutely love this place I come here all the time it's one of my fave local spots since I live in palm island

Yelp
Finally had a chance to swing by one of my favorite areas on the Beach for HH at Barceloneta. Unlike many other HH's in Miami, this one last until 8 PM which is awesome. There's a designated seating outside for HH. Great service as the waiters were very attentive. Drinks: - Ordered a pitched of red sangria. Pretty standard sangria - nothing too special, although there were other options on the menu. Food: - Overall, great experience. The prices were great so we ordered a little bit of almost everything, as they are tapas and shareable. - Least favorite: Not a fan of the brussel sprouts as they were too oily and drenched in sauce. Huevos rotos con chorizo was a little too heavy for my taste. - Most favorite: Tartar slider. Patatas bravas. Pan con tomate was very fresh.
