BarChi Sushi

BarChi Sushi offers a fantastic happy hour menu with a wide variety of appetizers, sushi nigiri, rolls, and more to choose from. The sushi and appetizers were B+ but considering the price was an A. While the drink selection was somewhat limited, the quality was still impressive, complementing the dishes well. One thing I wish I knew was they have validated parking in certain nearby garages. The atmosphere was also nice for a date – the low-lit vibe gave it an evening dinner feel even in the middle of the day. Overall, BarChi Sushi is a great spot for delicious food and a cool ambiance, especially during happy hour.

This is my second time here and it was delicious. We came for happy hour and got to try a bunch of things at good price. The pizza with the truffle oil is a must. The bacon wrapped scallops hit the spot. I must return to taste all the Nigiri options. Everything was fresh and melted in my mouth. The tempura cheesecake dessert was a perfect way to finish the evening. The drinks were tasty and strong.

Overall a decent sushi restaurant with fresh ingredients. However, I just can’t give 5 stars to a Japanese restaurant which uses fake wasabi (colored horseradish with some seasoning). Also no (obvious) dedicated parking… the “free street parking” is just never available because it’s close to 6th street - good luck finding where to park

Super delicious sushi and they make it quick! Came in for the late night happy hour menu after work, I was exhausted and ready to eat. They made it happen! Highly recommend the pepper tuna nigiri & pot stickers. Service was excellent, I sat at the bar and they were very attentive! Will be back for sure!

Fantastic happy hour pricing for food and drinks. We had 3 rolls, calamari, a pop, and a couple of beers for under $50. I loved my tempura shrimp roll. Tried the bf and they were too fishy for me. LOL!!! He liked them. Servers were okay. We are used to service where the person doesn't act like they hate their life and are on the edge of quitting. Also LOL!! Did get good suggestions for what to try for what we were in the mood for.

Just finished another amazing meal at Bar Chi! It's our favorite neighborhood bar, happy hour, and gourmet level sushi at HH prices! (Shhh ask for the Kiki Roll!!)

We were pleasantly surprised when we stopped in for lunch during happy hour. Food comes out quickly and is reasonably priced ($2-5 off regular priced rolls + most appetizers are ~$10 each). The rolls are a bit heavy handed with rice and sauce, but a good option if you're looking for a quick bite under $50 for two. HH Days + Hours: M-Sat 4-7pm, Sun all day!

Been coming here for over a decade. Glad to see it's still just as good. I come here for their golden lion role. Something about the lemon slice that really makes this roll one of my favorites in town. We came on a Saturday night at 8pm with a rezzy and our table was ready. Service is great and food comes out fast. It's always really loud here but the music is good and it's the downtown party vibe. It's very dark inside as well. Miso soup: 8/10 Shrimp tempura: 9/10 Golden lion: 11/10 Shaggy dog: 9.5/10 Flying dragon: 7/10 (little soggy) Spicy girl: 8/10 Volcano: 9/10 Love at first sight: 7/10 (apparently a popular roll but not a favorite for us) Cocktails were great too. Loved the lychee martini. 4 stars mainly due to only having 2 restrooms (one unisex each) so the wait can get long and annoying. Outside of this, love this spot and looking forward to coming back.

I've been here many times and every time I've had a good experience. The service is good, the vibes are great, and the food is delicious. Both the Rainbow Roll and the Shaggy Dog Roll were delicious. The Shaggy Dog was definitely my favorite though! They also have a great happy hour!

On Sunday, it's all day happy hour which is really nice because you can eat off the happy hour menu anytime and there's a lot of selection. My friend and I were able to sit right behind the bar. It was around 3 PM so it wasn't crowded yet. Parking is kinda hard so just plan for that. We ordered a mock tail that was delicious with hibiscus mint and something else. We ordered a couple of skewers (baby octopus and beef are my fav) , a couple of rolls and you can get really full and it's yummy. Staff are really great.

Barchi sushi offers a wide variety menu featuring all of your favorite Asian dish cuisines. From sushi, rice plates, noodles, and small and large plates. In downtown with a great vibe with it being very active on a Friday night. I didn't have to wait to long for a table. The food was good but didn't blow me away the bill can add up with 2-3 people. The staff was friendly and everything came out in a timely manner. They also have a happy hour offering a lot of great food and drink specials.

Love everything about this place! I went during Valentines. They had a DJ who played great music! The ambiance was everything, dark and moody and the food was delicious and so was the drinks!! Would revisit for sure!

Barchi is such a solid sushi place. We had a group of like 15 on a Wednesday night and we couldn't have had better service. Big groups are so annoying and complicated but the waitress was so kind and patient with us. Everything we had was SO good. Big barchi fan!!!

Mediocre at best, extremely inconsistent. I give it a 3/5 because I have actually had maybe two really good experiences but the other 3 times were so unfortunate and disappointing. The staff are nice, restaurant is extremely dark and loud. The food is just so hard to recommend when there are much better and consistent options. It's a hard sell since they aren't exactly cheap either but they are conveniently situated in downtown I suppose. I wouldn't recommend since there are better options with better price points but it seems like they try (sometimes).

*I don't eat sushi so the review of those items comes from my companions. We came with a large group for happy hour and this place did not disappoint! Great cocktails $5 appetizers and $5 cocktails. All of the food that came out of the kitchen was on point and delicious. I had shrimp tempura and gyoza. Both were perfect. This spot is definitely worth a return trip.

I ordered the bacon and scallop skewer, ceviche tostada, shiitake mushroom skewer, grilled squid, dynamite roll, and coconut pineapple juice. The only thing I would get again is their shiitake mushroom skewer. I might go again and just get that only. It had an umami and charred taste but still juicy, so good! I went on a Sunday so it's happy hours all day. The ceviche tostada was the worst. It was flavorless and fish didn't taste good. The bacon and scallop was decent. The dynamite roll crawfish was a bit underseasoned and it came out cold. The grilled squid need a bit more flavor. The coconut pineapple juice was more like coconut milk and pineapple. I was thinking of them using coconut juice because of the name.

Late night happy hour! What more could you ask for? My friend's first time at BarChi. She went a little overboard wanting to try many things. I started with the large Sho Chiku Bai unfiltered sake. My friend had a Hibiscus mint martini (the server said it was the least sweet martini). It was still fairly sweet. As a vegetarian, she ordered the Vegetable Tempura, Fried Spring Rolls, Seaweed Salad, Shitaki mushroom skewers and a Avocado roll which we shared. I also had a Sea Bass and an Escolar nigiri both were excellent. (If you don't know, use caution when having Escolar. Eating too much of this fatty fish will result in disastrous consequences. Look it up! I learned the hard way in the past) My friend ordered the Spicy Strawberry martini which wasn't very spicy but was more sweet than the first. We closed down the restaurant and had a very pleasant late night downtown.

I wanted to get sushi happy hour, and barchi is probably the place to go for just that. I went on Sunday where it's happy hour all day. Because of this, you cannot put down a reservation for Sundays (which makes sense). I called the day before to confirm this and they were more than happy to let me know that I could call them to see how busy it was on Sundays before coming. I decided to go 30 minutes after they opened but was surprised at restaurant being more than 50% full. The place is naturally dark inside, so I would recommend eating on the patio during nice and bright days. However, be prepared to put a card down for that. The place is casually nice, not fancy or intimidating, but nice enough to meet up with some friends at to catch up. Their menu is quite extensive. You can easily get something anyone wants on there. From hot to cold to raw to cooked, there's always something. Happy hour is mainly sushi, though. Seems only a very select portion of the rolls are on happy hour. Portions were nice, good selection of sake, sake bombs were a bit pricey for even happy hour but prices in general have been up all around Austin. The spicy hamachi tacos are something I would pass up. It genuinely tastes like 5% yellowtail and 95% wholly guacamole. Service was decent. Nothing to really complain here. Quintessential happy hour sushi spot. It's here for a reason, so I would recommend it for a casual sushi spot any day!

We visited here on a Wednesday during happy hour. It wasn't too busy yet and we were sat promptly. It's very dark in the restaurant so we sat near the windows and the bar at a table. We ordered the below: -spicy edamame (5/10) -hamachi jalapeño (5/10) -spicy Tuna roll (5/10) -spicy salmon roll (4/10) -lychee martinis (7/10) -spicy bloody sake mary (7/10) Everything was average, the hamachi jalapeño is not what I expected, it was almost seared and I thought it was going to be raw yellowtail. The edamame did not taste fresh and just had some spices sprinkled on top, it was not spicy as I expected. The happy hour prices are fair. The service was fine, but although our waitress forgot to bring fresh wasabi and spicy mayo and we had to ask her again. Definitely not eager to return.

I stopped by for an early dinner with friends and this place was amazing. The food and service was spot on while the ambiance is minimally chic and cozy. Great for catching up with friends, date-nights and business dinners. We ordered a variety of entrees and desserts to share. I was so pleased with every dish as well as the cocktails - insanely delicious. Overall solid experience - highly recommended!

BarChi serves an extensive and impressive happy hour menu that cannot be matched. During the weekdays (Mon-Thu), happy hour is served for dinner from 4-7 pm, while on weekends (Fri & Sat), happy hours run from either 4-7pm or from 10pm-12 am. Sundays offer happy hour ALL DAY. On the menu, you'll find various rolls, nigiris and appetizers. BarChi is not very memorable, nor does it serve the best sushi, but for the price, you can't beat it, especially when you crave sushi as much as I do!

Not only was this restaurant 5 minutes from our hotel but it had an amazing happy hour menu until 7pm. The options on the menu were perfect to try the popular sushi plates for half the price. Personally got the mango martini and it was delicious I got 3! The server was amazing and helpful and quick! The ambiance was your normal sushi spot decor with dark colors and outside seating availability.

Sushi is decent...and it's not the most expensive spot in the world. The vibe is good. And their happy hour is legit. They put cream cheese in too many rolls IMO. But I like this place.

Cannot say enough great things about this sushi restaurant. We got sat immediately which was nice. The service was amazing and we really liked our waitress. She was very knowledgeable about the rolls and took my friends dairy allergy into consideration when she was ordering. Happy hour is from 4-7 and the menu is amazing. It was nice sitting at the sushi bar. I loved watching the guys make our food in front of us. There is plenty of seating in the restaurant and outside. I would recommend making a reservation if you don't want to sit at the sushi bar. The sushi was fresh and delicious! Parking is a little tricky. Overall great experience!!

I've been here 2x and the sushi has been amazing both times, I'm definitely a fan. I love the creative rolls with high quality ingredients and applaud this place for not having imitation crab!!

Bar chi was so delicious! I don't think there was one thing we ordered that we didn't enjoy! Some were so good we had to order another! Me and the girls cane during happy hour and thoroughly enjoyed the food and service we were provided! We came right when happy hour started I believe that was 4pm( check website to make sure I don't quite recall) no wait when we arrived. We ordered a good amount of apps and rolls along with sake bombs because, DUH ITS HAPPY HOUR! There is street parking all around as well as some parking lots and garages. Happy hour prices weren't too bad we spent about $50 a person before tip and we were all absolute stuffeedddd when we were done! It was so good along with my company I forgot to take photos I will update this review upon my next visit!

One of my fav places downtown, lots of delicious options for whatever mood you're in. They have a cocktail menu and great sake options. Each time I've come here I've tried different things and haven't been disappointed yet. I usually make a reservation to ensure ease of getting a table. I've sat outside, the bar, and in the general table area. There's not a bad spot. This time we tried the fried shrimp wontons, the spicy hamachi tacos, the skydiver roll, and the love at first sight roll, finishing w the fried cheesecake for dessert. It was a perfect dinner before we needed to be at our next venue for a show.

You can't really go wrong with bar chi: This place is a solid 4/5. I only give it a 4, because the food isn't 5/5 quality but for the price point and the vibes are perfect. Don't come here expecting some super crazy sushi experience. Expect good sushi and ambiance at a great price.

When you see a review saying that a place has the "best happy hour in Austin", it would be natural to be skeptical. So I tried it. And hey - in terms of sushi - this is probably the best happy hour in Austin. Great deals before 7 PM and they're bringing real quality to the table. Some of my favorites are the seared escolar and their simple nigiri. The sake Bloody Mary is spicy and delicious, made with housemaid mix. In both of my experiences here the bartenders have been knowledgeable about the menu and very nice to interact with. Pro tip: they will validate 90 minutes of parking in the Austin City Hall parking garage.

BarChi is always good! Has been in me and my boyfriends rotation for years now. Best sushi happy hour in town!!! Prices are incredible. We always get the Godzilla role and sushi pizza!! Best things on the menu in my opinion!

BarChi was excellent! The tuna pizza should not make sense but it absolutely did. We ordered twice! The octopus were incredible. We also ordered another of those. All of the rolls were incredibly fresh and the price on drinks and food cannot be beat! Especially for downtown Austin, the perfect stop before a concert at the Moody Center!

Service was great, Sunday happy hour was the best! Got the shaggy dog roll and that was amazing! Wasn't a huge fan of the lone star roll. Edamame for app was delicious. Love the vibes atmosphere

This place is so chill and fun and friendly. The workers and music are very pleasant. We didn't eat but we had the sake and it was SO good. Seating indoors is nice and we see people sitting outside too.

Well I was hopeful. The food was woefully underwhelming. We tried 7 different rolls. Several were very fishy tasting and smelling. Not a good sign for a sushi restaurant. Edemame was good. We tried the Octopus skewers. Not tender and the flavor was bitter/sweet. The service was good. Loved the atmosphere but I would not go here for sushi.

The happy hour rolls were wonderful!!! We got the Geisha, Rainbow, and Samurai (I forget what order the picture is in) but my favorite was the Samurai..not a fan of cream cheese in sushi but I figured I'd give it another try! $2.50 for Sake bombs in awesome cups was a plus! Had a great time at the bar top last Friday night at 6:30pm - bartender was awesome!!!

Decided to give BarChi a try with a friend since their happy hour deals seemed worth a visit. We made a reservation on Yelp for a weeknight around 5:30 (probably not wise given the peak traffic time) to have plenty of time for happy hour, and parked in the AMLI Downtown garage (BarChi will give you 2 hrs. for $5). OVERVIEW: The happy hour deals were nice because it was an entire menu of items (lots of variety), but the prices weren't anything incredible and the food was pretty mediocre even for the discounted pricing. With so many other (better) sushi spots in town, I wouldn't opt to revisit BarChi. Not worth the location, parking, and price. QUICK FACTS: - Reservations? Yes, you can book via Yelp. - Parking? Yes, street parking around downtown or AMLI Downtown garage parking (off of Lavaca St.) for $5 for up to 2 hrs. (must validate at BarChi!) - Happy hour? Yes, Mon.-Sat., 4-7pm and Sunday all day FOOD RATINGS: - Edamame (3/5): Not sure how you can mess up edamame but they were overcooked so the shell was super mushy and sometimes stuck to the beans. Basic, nothing special. - Gyoza (3/5): Tasted like Trader Joe's frozen gyoza you can make at home. Just okay. - Austin Roll (4/5): Probably the best thing we ordered. Loved the variety of tuna, salmon, and white fish. Sort of like a rainbow roll. - Samurai Roll (3.5/5): Didn't have much flavor. Fish was just okay, didn't seem very fresh. - Oreo Dream (2/5): Our server recommended this dessert as something he could eat every day. I pity him for that because this was disappointing. Fried Oreos but they were overly mushy and honestly not very good. The ice cream was basic vanilla (tasted like H‑E‑B ice cream, nothing fancy) and besides the presentation, there wasn't much going for this dessert.

This is one of my sushi go-to places for happy hours, especially on Sundays because they have all-day happy hour! A variety of different rolls, skewers, appetizers, and drinks are discounted, and their lychee martini ($9) is one of my favorite drinks there! I would it consider the seafood top-notch quality but you can't beat the relatively-reasonable prices during happy hour, so I recommend coming to try out some of their discounted items during happy hour before you commit to their full-priced menu if you're a bit hesitant. There typically can be just a little bit of a wait, but you can order drinks at their bar while you wait for your table!

We had the BEST waitress. She was attentive, kind, welcoming, charming, and informative. Truly amazing service from the moment we sat down. We sat outside, and although it summer we were able to get a good breeze. The inside was amazing. Clean, nice bar area, appropriately spaced tables, and not too cold AC which I appreciate. The food. Very good. Sweet potato fries were well balanced. I didn't eat the tofu - friends did- so can't speak to it personally but they loved it! The Nigiri is as delicious, each specific item individually. Ceviche tostadas we're surprisingly delicious and well presented. And the Austin rolls did not disappoint. Taste, flavor, presentation were all very nice. It's easy to get Sushi wrong, but here they got it right. Will definitely come back, and check out the inside for sure. But this time everything was amazing. Recommend!

I have lived in ATX for almost 5 years and so far this is the only sushi restaurant I have wanted to go back to. I love the atmosphere, the service is efficient, and the signature rolls here are unique and delicious!

The food and atmosphere is always fantastic!!! Last night was no difference. Although, I'm pretty sure my girlfriend and I scared the poor younger bartender we're a bit much. Loved talking sake and trying new ones! The other bartender did a great job of explaining the rice and what to expect. Presented a bottle and he was spot on!!!

This is a really solid spot for sushi rolls. There's a lot of high end sushi in Austin but I've been searching for a more affordable place I can grab some rolls on the regular. This is the best I've found for that so far and they also have a great happy hour. We made a reservation for a Thursday night but it wasn't necessary. Our waitress recommended some rolls for us and we were happy with the selection. It can get a little loud in there so I'd eat on the earlier side if that's an issue. Hope to go back for happy hour soon! Good spot for when you're craving sushi on a random night.

Hands down one of my top 3 favorite sushi restaurants in austin. I love to come for reverse Happy hour. Bloody sake Mary and great discounts and all my favorites. I order the geisha roll, Nemo and peppered tuna as well as bento boxes with teriyaki chicken and steak. The manager is very kind and was informative and considerate when he told me that there is a great place to park in the building that is free with validation for at least 3 hours. The lighting and chill music is great for a date night or girls night !

Love their happy hour specials. We tried their martinis, spicy edamame, takoyaki, shaggy roll, austin roll, and samurai roll. All super good! Service was good and fast. Ambience dark and nice. I parked on the street because it's free after 6 on Mon/Tue, but you can validate your parking in the AMLI garage for $5. I wouldn't order their skewers again just because it's pretty expensive for the small portion you get. Still delicious though. Overall good spot downtown for a happy hour special. Price point in the middle.

Fantastic service and great happy hour deals (including all day Sunday!)! The inside is dark and well-decorated and the sushi is pretty good and comes out quickly!

Had their all day happy hour on Sunday night ! This is a really popular day for BarChi and their usually is a wait. The sushi was good priced for this menu and the flavors were good. Spicy salmon and spicy tuna are the way to go! I had the Samurai roll and it was tasty as it featured a lot of different fish.

Located in downtown Austin, this little spot was not too far from the Long Center. Stopped here for dinner after swinging by City Hall to cast our early votes. Was pleasantly surprised to see that they had an extensive Happy Hour selection that ran until 7 pm. We snagged an outdoor table The passion fruit mojito was mediocre. Too sweet and the accompanying lime looked kind of sad. Fortunately the food was great! The fried calamari, takoyaki and agodashi tofu were delicious!

Have always loved this place. Their happy hour during the day is great and then they have a reverse happy hour ar night which is amazing as well. I've gotten many of their dishes every time I go. You honestly can't go wrong with anything that you order there everything is very tasty. I will say that the only downfall is they don't take reservations so you just have to wait it out. But other than that the place is nice and vibe is awesome in there especially at night and during the weekend. And the cocktails are just great. Make sure you always get the lychee martini.

Barchi is my go-to for sushi. They're very consistent and their staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The bartenders are so nice as well, no one is ever forgotten at the bar. The happy hour is such a blessing. The cold pineapple sake is refreshing and just enough to get you the buzz you need to have a great time with your friend(s). The only thing I'd change is the lighting in the restaurant, could be a little bit brighter in the dining area, sometimes it's hard to read the menu, regardless, I love you.

The food was pretty good! The spicy hamachi tacos were pretty damn good but on the smaller end. The rolls and nigiri were as expected, but the agedashi tofu was surprisingly damn good. Cheap, too! I had a negroni and their smokey old fashion as far as drinks. The only ask is that they would have the classic old fashion glasses and big ice rocks that are clear, but the most important, the drink was damn delicious. I'm a picky drinker here, so don't mind me! The music set a vibe as it reminded me of TAO in LA/LV (the restaurant portion in Vegas). People were friendly and when it gets busy, just call on your wait staff as they likely have a million things going on at once, but if you ask, they'll get it for you! Great spot, all-in-all, and it has the vibes for a nice night out on the town!
