I tried Bari167 on a recent trip to Stamford. Having lived in Stamford before, I was excited to try this new (for me) restaurant. Overall my experience was ok, I would probably give them a 3.5 if I could. The restaurant itself is small, so if you're a claustrophobic - it's not for you. Service was good, nothing over the top, nothing horrible.
I thought the food was ok. I started with the Calamari. The calamari was surprisingly tender for how large there rings were. I thought the dish needed a little salt and the presentation was very old school - sitting on a leaf of lettuce. For me I would have expected more from a $16 appetizer.
Next I had the Beet Salad - Mixed greens topped with roasted beets, sliced almonds, pickled onions, and chickpeas. I was disappointed by the salad - I felt it was a little over-dressed and I was surprised by the beets. First, they were not the main attraction and second, for roasted beets, they felt like they were canned/jarred beets. There was alot going on with this salad, and nothing stood out as special.
Lastly, I had the Margherita Pizza - tomato sauce, fresh mozzerella and basil. The pizza didn't lack in fresh mozzarella, but that was the highlight of the pizza. The crust was just ok - a bit bland and I would have used a different flour in making the dough. It looked nice, but lacked any character.
With an abundance of Italian restaurants in town, I will probably not return.
