The Best Kosher Restaurants In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"Barnea isn't an obvious pick, which is why it's great. This quiet bistro in Midtown has a fairly limited menu in comparison to similar spots, but that’s fine because everything on it is delicious. They serve our favorite kosher steak in New York, as well as interesting appetizers, like the beef carpaccio and beef tartare (not usually found on kosher menus), lamb riblets, roasted cauliflower with za’atar, and the salad lyonnaise with soft poached egg, lamb bacon, walnuts, mustard vinaigrette, farro, and pickled onion." - anna rahmanan, will hartman

Barnea Bistro Review - Midtown - New York - The Infatuation

"Barnea is a quiet bistro in Midtown that’s a bit more subdued than many of the other kosher restaurants in NYC. The menu is fairly limited in comparison to similar spots, but that's fine because everything on it is delicious. Arguably serving the best kosher steak in New York, the restaurant also takes a chance with some interesting appetizers, like the beef carpaccio and beef tartare (not usually found on kosher menus), the lamb riblets, the polenta fries made with truffle honey, and the salad Lyonnaise, which features a soft poached egg, lamb bacon, walnuts, mustard vinaigrette, farro, and pickled onion. The elegant space is beautiful and the service is truly top-notch." - Anna Rahmanan

This was my second time at Barnea Bistro. Nadia, our server, was delightful. With nearly 30 years in the business (but only a few at this restaurant), she clearly loves her job. Her recommendations were on point and she made it easy for our group of 6 to decide on cocktails, appetizers and main courses after. We were so full that we didn’t have room for dessert.

Google
Beautiful restaurant. Amazing service. I went for my stepbrothers birthday, and they did not disappoint. I ordered the rack of lamb, which was so juicy and tender, although obviously pricey. Definitely worth the 90$ or whatever it was. The dessert courss blew us all away.. we came 2 nights in a row, the second night just for the dessert 😆 highly recommend their 'la noissete' from the dessert menu.. on a final note, very pretty restaurant but dont go expecting to find something cheap on the menu. Would definitely go again without hesitation.

From From the moment we stepped through the doors to celebrate our anniversary, we were warmly welcomed by the hostess who made us feel like honored guests. Our exceptional waiter, Jacob, expertly guided us through the menu with recommendations that were nothing short of perfect—each dish from appetizer to dessert exceeded our expectations. Jacob’s attentiveness to every detail truly elevated our dining experience, anticipating our needs with impeccable timing and genuine care. The entire staff’s dedication to service made this an anniversary celebration we’ll treasure for years to come.

Made a reservation online and told them we had a birthday and wanted them to sing and they did, without us even reminding them!! The ambiance is beautiful, the service was great and the food was delicious! They also have very fun cocktails.... One with smoke.

Google
Went with my husband to Barnea Bistro in NYC tonight. All I can say is OH EM GEE. It was SO SO good! The Brussel sprouts and eggplant were both beyond. Cooked to perfection and the flavors were insane. Crispy dumplings were great, and the sweet potato gnocchi were legit pillows. Oh and don’t even get me started with the desserts. Probably the best we’ve gotten in a while. I got the salted caramel mousse and my husband got the key lime pie, and we both said probably top 3 ever. Still thinking about that salted caramel mousse 🧐. Also, the service was so incredibly fast. The staff were all so kind and patient. Overall a lovely and delicious experience. Highly highly recommend!

Yelp
Came here for dinner with my sister and her friend. Service was good. Vibe was decent. We ordered two $96 Filet De Boeuf steaks. Mine came out overcooked, so I sent it back. We each took a small slice of the other steak, and it was super chewy and very dry. We told the guy it's dry, and he said "it's a dry-aged steak".. but that's not true, it should still be tender, juicy, and rich in flavor. Instead it was chewy and dry. I told him to cancel my steak. We tried to send back the girls steak, but the manager said you each took a piece - so we can't take it back. I semi-understand that, but given that the steak was terrible, I think he should've just comped it and not argued. The yellowtail sashimi was good. I still tipped about 15-18%, because service was decent, but overall, the steak was absolutely TERRIBLE.

Yelp
There's nothing new I can add to the praise this restaurant has received. The cooking here pleases my entire family. The person handling staff development deserves credit. I'm drawn to the feeling they've established here. I'm anticipating coming back here.

Yelp
Everything was wonderful. The food was amazing. The service was excellent and the ambiance was buzzing. My son & daughter in law ordered almost all the appetizers! They loved every one of them. I ordered the special soup, French onion soup. OMG! I make kosher onion soup, but this was beyond amazing! I even ordered a serving to go home. I had the salmon tartare. Delicious. Then I had the duck confit risotto. It was delicious. I took some of it home. My daughter in law said we've gone to some nice kosher restaurants, but this is the best. For dessert I had the key lime pie. I've never had key lime pie. This was delicious. I had the pina colada it was delicious. I recommend this restaurant. I was here 6 years ago. As I said then all the kosher restaurants we go to is 5 stars, but Barnea Bistro is 5 star plus!!

Yelp
The food here is outstanding. Rich flavors, fresh ingredients, and everything is cooked to perfection. You can taste the quality in every bite. Service is quick and professional. Clean space with a nice vibe. Easily one of the top kosher restaurants around.

Yelp
What an experience. Didn't know what to expect from a fully kosher French restaurant, but trust me, any doubts you may have will be quelled by the time your appetizers come out. Cocktails are a little heavy on the sweetness, but the food is delicious and dessert is insane. Never had key lime pie like that in my life. Pro tip - would go duck breast over duck confit, although both were fantastic. The rack of lamb was also divine. Only criticism is that service could use some improvement, a few of our appetizers were incorrect & we felt rushed to leave at the end. But otherwise no notes, would highly recommend that anyone check this place out.

Yelp
We were here for a rehearsal dinner on a Wednesday night, and the restaurant was PACKED! We had the front of the bar for cocktail hour and hors d'oeuvres, and the room right behind the bar for our event. Passed hors d'oeuvres included beef carpaccio, ahi tuna tostadas, short rib gnocchi, and patatas bravas. For dinner, we were given a choice of three appetizers: roasted caufliower, lamb riblets, or brussel sprouts with lamb bacon; a choice of four entrees: duck confit risotto, ora king salmon with coconut curry, tournedos au poivre, or cote do boeuf. The three dessert options were apple streudel, affogato "al caffe", and key lime pie. I ordered brussel sprouts, duck, and key lime pie, and Eric R. got lamb riblets, ora king salmon, and apple streudel. I think he regretted offering me a lamb riblet because it was ridiculously tender and melted in my mouth. What is truly amazing is this is a meat restaurant, so the ice cream, risotto, gnocchi, and other dishes that we think of as dairy-based were non-dairy, and still completely amazing! It was definitely the fanciest kosher restaurant I have even been to in my life. The restaurant was so packed that we could not hear most of the speeches, which were given into a microphone attached to a small speaker near the bride's and groom's family's table. I do not fault the restaurant for its popularity though! The menu is really fun so I think it would be cool to return here for a special occasion. It is also located in midtown Manhattan which is very convenient for transportation. B'teavon!

Yelp
Great kosher place! I'm not the right one to review a kosher restaurant but I do enjoyed all the food we ate. Tasty, delicious, flavorful and the service is very good! We tried as much as we can in the menu and we selected great dishes. Cozy atmosphere as well and not loud.

Yelp
Nice option for kosher eaters at the city . Good appetizers mostly the carpaccio . My King salmon was fantastic and the only entree that was worth the price (but it's a kosher place so prices are higher) Make sure that you know all the happy birthday song's words cause it's happening around tables at least 4-5 times a night . Cute but annoying. Excellent service !

Yelp
The service was the best part of our experience. Oscar was fantastic. The decor is just ok and the food was delicious.

Yelp
So this place is okay. Came here for a team dinner while in NYC and checked out the menu and thought "this place looks expensive." And it was. Now I get New York is hyper inflated for everything so I did take that into account but still, 87 bucks for a dry ribeye? Service was pretty good. They took care of me and making sure my water was filled up all the time. This is a kosher restaurant, so there are no dairy desserts, or park of any kind. Know that going in, and assume most people do know this before they go. But wanted to mention it anyway, just in case. So the appetizers were good. The beef ribs fell off the bone, the other ones we had were also tasty. My only complaint is they over fire somemof their things. I don't like the bitter burned flavor of veggies. Some do, but this is my review. Hah So if I had the opportunity to eat here again? I would, but only if it was paid by someone else. Too expensive for what I got IMHO.

Yelp
Great food Great spot You really can't go wrong here The breaded veal chop is an all time favorite and the gnocchi short rib dish is a must

Yelp
The service here is always great! Ive tried so maby things on the menu and always find they are consistent and good. My favorites: tuna tower, polenta fries, brussel sprouts, delmonico steak, shortrib. The truth is you can't go wrong. The desserts are okay. The bartender is excellent definetly reccomend having a drink! It's always packed and the ambiance is great with nice staff and good music. One of my top steak house choices in the city.

Yelp
We had our holiday dinner there recently and enjoyed our experience. They definitely exceeded my expectations. We ordered a bunch of things to share: Polenta fries - honestly underwhelming. Needed seasoning Roasted veggies, Mixed fried potatoes, Hamachi crudo, beef ribs, grilled veal chop - good Short rib gnocchi - excellent, fave dish of the dinner Desserts: apple crisp, carrot cake - meh Profiterole - good The chocolate dessert with a name I don't remember cuz I can't pronounce lol was excellent Service was pretty good. Overall a good option for Kosher food.

Yelp
I was so looking forward to this meal. I had a great meal in February and wanted to share the experience with my spouse. The February meal was calm, flavorful and for lack of a better word, adult. This meal was loud (large groups, lots of happy birthday songs, pulsing music), not feeling serene or adult. The main course was far too salty. The prices for some elements seems disproportionate to the item ($7 for a cup of tea, $24 for dessert). Maybe it was an off night.

Yelp
Came in as party of one late after arriving in NYC and was seated in a nice booth immediately. Kale salad was good as far as Kale salad goes ( and checks off my leafy greens requirement for the day) but the salmon entree was exceptional! Arrived hot but perfectly medium well with a vegetable sauce that worked really well. I will be back
google avatar

Rebecca S.

Yelp
I greatly enjoyed the cauliflower appetizer and my mom really liked her fish of the day (red snapper) with risotto. The portions were large and the food well flavored. The desserts looked delicious but who has room! There were 6 birthdays while we dined - so is clearly a popular choice for special occasions. Very wheelchair/mobility device accessible including the bathrooms! All on one floor and lots of space. The service left a little to be desired with respect to checking in and bumping chairs so I deducted one star.
google avatar

Esther F.

Yelp
This place has great food, and an even better vibe! Can't wait to go back again! Josh and the staff did an amazing job!

Frankie M.

Yelp
The service is great and the food is definitely prepared well. I got red snapper there recently and I thought it was very average but not bad. I understand it is a nice restaurant and it will be expensive but the cost does feel like a scam. If you can afford to come here often good for you! But if you are someone who doesn't have all the money to spend in the world I would suggest going to a famous Italian place or just buying kosher meat to prepare at home. It's sooo expensive (unless you are rich). If you want to check it out without spending a crazy amount I suggest going there for cocktails and appetizers. But the drink prices will add up too.. thankfully my cocktail was sooo good and my fiancé loved his too.

Yelp
9/19/21 The ambience is beautiful and classy. The bar is lovely with appetizing craft cocktails and accoutrements. Shortly after arrival we we are seated at our reserved table. Lovely banquettes in the periphery tables and chairs in the center. The decor was beautiful. I started with a handcrafted cocktail: "La Violette": muddled blueberries, vanilla syrup, tequila, and other tasty ingredients. Served with a long single rectangular ice cube and a reusable straw with fresh blueberries and flowers as garnish. The drink was beautiful to look at and very tasty. After perusing the menu we ordered some appetizers for the table: crispy artichokes, brussels sprouts, short rib tacos, soup of the day (split pea.) Each appetizer was beautifully presented and unique. All were very flavorful. I did not try the pea soup but my family members loved it. After one bite of the taco the server came by immediately to apologize. They had served us the fish taco accidentally. I appreciate that they came over right away instead of waiting for us to say something. She brought us the short rib tacos quickly. She also left us the fish tacos since we had already started, not knowing... The short rib tacos were absolutely fabulous. The meat melts in your mouth, had a lovely smoky flavor and the shredded cabbage and sauce accompanied it perfectly. The fish tacos were OK but I'm glad that we ordered the short rib tacos because they were far superior. But they were finished also. For our entrées I chose the fish of the day: black Seabass served with toasted slivered almonds, braised grape tomatoes, sautéed spinach, broccolini. The skin of the fish was crispy, the meat was flavorful. I enjoyed every bite. My brother had the Château the beouf steak. My sister-in-law tried the salmon. When she was dissatisfied with her dish they immediately offered her something else instead. She chose the brick chicken. That was absolutely fabulous. Crispy skin, moist juicy marinated flavorful chicken over fresh bright pesto. Perfect in every way. For dessert we shared the bread pudding and the lemon cannoli. My family loved the bread pudding but my preference was for the lemon cannoli. Fresh, bright, beautiful and very tasty. A perfect ending to a perfect meal. The service was really excellent. We also enjoyed the open kitchen. Josh, the chef, came by to personally check on everything and listen to feedback. The entire evening was a wonderful experience. Looking forward to coming back here and trying out whatever project is next for Chef Josh.

Yelp
This was my first time at Barnea Bistro: Totally impressed! From the first greeting by Sally, the hostess, we felt very welcomed and accommodated. The food, all courses, were superb. Our waiter, Grace, displayed the top notch etiquette and service. I would give 10 Stars if reviews would allow. Not only Best Kosher Restaurant, but just Best Restaurant! Thank you very much! This is definitely place to recommend

Yelp
I went to many high end restaurants, but never experienced anything as such. Excellent quality kosher, fresh, and delicious food. Outstanding service by both waiters (Andrea) and the manager. Left this place satisfied and happy. We will definitely come back and recommend to our friends and family!

Yelp
SPECTACULAR! My husband and I dined here for his birthday last night. We we're blown away by every aspect of the restaurant. Amazing food, service and ambiance. Thank you to our waiter Omar!!! Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Incredible place. Everything was presented-and tasted- amazing. We're still talking about the ribs! Lovely atmosphere and professional and friendly, knowledgeable wait staff. Free parking right in front (on E46 Str), or on 3rd Ave from 7PM - which is incredible for Manhattan (there were plenty of open spots when we arrived at 7-ish). Inventive and flavorful dishes, perfectly cooked steak - delicious. DUCK BREAST wild mushroom risotto was unusually outstanding and bursting with flavor. Desserts very special, the almond cake was excellent! Very unique and inventive place, décor and ambience were appreciated as well. I was wowed each time and we got different dishes. Of course we had some favorites, we recommend the GLAZED BEEF SHORT RIBS , the gnocchi and ribs, and all the desserts. Very nice ambiance it's very classy. Only complaint: Can be a bit loud as people are seated practically on top of one other. No spaced out room between tables. Could overhear conversations from practically every table. Place can get -and does- get stuffy. Lastly, as is to be expected, it is VERY Pricy! Bring your High Limit credit card!

Yelp
We paid for a stellar culinary experience but we did not get it. The appetizer prices are borderline insulting. 4 tiny lamb riblets for $42. The Cauliflower for $30, and the brussel sprouts for $38. The small pieces of lamb bacon don't justify such a mark up. The bread you get with olive oil was disappointing, like grocery store bread. They could have at least heated it up or toasted it. For the main courses, the portions you get are on the small side. Appetizers are strongly advised if you don't want to leave still hungry. My dining partner got the veal and was unimpressed. I got the duck, which while only 5 small pieces, was quite good, but the truffel oil or whatever mushroom flavoring they put in the risotto was overpowering. There is no subtlety there. It is very mushroom-y and heavily sauced. Embiance - It is loud. The acoustics are terrible. My dining partner and I needed to speak with raised voices the entire time to be heard. The tables are far too close together. We sat at a table for 2, but with the 2 people at the table next to us, it really felt like a table for 4 with 2 sets of strangers. Also, more alarming - At no point were we asked to show vaccine cards. The service was adequate, but nothing impressive like we've experienced at other restaruants at this price point. All the servers we encountered have heavy spanish accents and all seem to carry themselves with a lack of interest or enthusiasm. No warmth. One thing to note - someone at the bar kept loudly hitting something every 15 minutes or so. We weren't sure if it was ice or something else but it was quite jarring. When you are paying $250 for 2 mains and an appetizer, You expect to have an impressive culinary experinece. This was not that

Yelp
my parents and I went out to dinner last night and needed a place that was new to us, so we went to barnea and it was wonderful. the menu is a wonderful array of choices and very fresh offerings. i had the breaded veal chop with a delicious sauce, my mother had the red snapper with risotto and it was scrumptious and perfect as was the risotto, my father had duck with a different risotto and both were also ver very good. then we shared a strudel for desert and all went home very happy and satisfied. The service was excellent and on top of things without being over bearing, and we sat outside at the comfortable and currently covered patio area which had plenty of space. we were inside briefly before sitting down and the inside decor is well done and set up nicely. the restrooms are clean and accessible and we overall would go back in a heartbeat. can't wait to try more of the menu

Lorna B.

Yelp
This is the 4 th time that we've come to Barnea. I mentioned to the hostess and server that we were celebrating 2 birthdays , no reaction as to what I want to do to celebrate , I had also written it on the reservation page but it was ignored. we were placed at Table 23 which we remembered from last time is the worst table in the restaurant . it's across from the Bar and you hear ice cracking throughout the meal and have the constant burning smell of the Smokey drinks. we sat at the very same table last time we came and will not do this again. My sons surprise steak was over seasoned in pepper and he didn't enjoy it at all. The rest of the table was happy with their food but disappointed overall by the noise and lack of ideas how we could celebrate the 2 birthdays

Yelp
We were very much looking forward to experiencing this restaurant. We got there on the late side since getting an Uber after a Broadway show proved to be quite difficult. The restaurant is beautiful and has an elegant and classy vibe. The wait staff seemed annoyed that we were coming in so late and they seemed to want to get us out of there fairly quickly so that they could go home. Not exactly the sort of service we were looking for an upscale restaurant, but we let it slide. The dishes were enjoyable from the chicken to the pasta to the fish tacos. After dinner we opted for hot tea and coffee, all of which were fine too. We did not try any of the desserts. Things got a little dicey when the bill came however. Our server took it upon himself to tag on an automated 20% gratuity. This was very strange to us given that most restaurants only do this for larger parties. We however let it slide since we are a custom to leaving 20% tip anyway. We were especially offended when we were on our way out, the server ran up behind us and asked rather bluntly "would you like to leave some gratuity?" We explain to him that we already did since it was automatically tagged onto the bill. His attitude and his response were rather unbecoming of an upscale restaurant. On our way out I asked the maître d' If it was customary to add on a 20% tip for a party as small as four. He said absolutely not. So suffice it to say that this experience left a bad taste in her mouth. A restaurant that is that upscale and classy should probably treat its patrons with more dignity and honesty. I will say however that it was a beautiful restaurant and the food was very tasty. Just watch out for your pocket!

Jaclyn G.

Yelp
I enjoy the ambiance here, classy, calm, elegant. Nice variety of menu items we got the lam chops, gnocchi, and a steak. Everything was delicious and filling. This place is quality over quantity. For dessert we had a bread pudding which was similar to butter cake flavor. Would come back to try more menu items! The waiter was very kind and attentive as well.

Rochelle G.

Yelp
We were at Barnea Bistro for my husband's Birthday several weeks ago and the food and service was excellent. We looked forward to celebrating our grandchildren's birthday tonight and again the food was superior but the service was terrible. The artichoke soup was cold, 3 of us ordered it. They only brought 2 and brought the 3rd half an hr. later. They forgot our granddaughter's main, short ribs and brought it when the 3 of us were finished with our main. We were celebrating both of our grandchildren''s birthday and waited for the dessert for 45 minutes and finally asked for our check, whereupon they brought the dessert which we had cancelled. The wait staff is harried and understaffed. We love the food and ambience but we'll think twice before returning.

Yelp
This is arguably the best kosher food in Manhattan. While it's tough to get a table and the place is kinda small, customer service is top notch and anything you eat here will be amazing. Definitely recommend the duck appetizer. It fell off the bone. Also, get the old fashioned with smoke. And get the rissoto balls, and the potatas bravas and the fish tacos. Hell, get everything. The steaks were very very large so I recommend splitting them and going crazy on apps. Also, save room for dessert!!

J W.

Yelp
Unbelievable experience! This dining establishment puts EVERY single kosher restaurant to shame. Los Angeles or New York. Top notch. From beginning to end. Staff are on top of the entire meal. Food was incredible. We were floored away by this place. Highly recommended. I'm surprised they don't have more reviews. Maybe everyone gives them reviews on open table or Google but this place is a must.

Yelp
A fun fine dining experience with an out of the box menu. Staff is very nice and helpful. Food is good.

Yelp
This was one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Every dish we ordered was unbelievable and the drinks we're really great too. Highly recommend

Yelp
Excellent Glatt Kosher restaurant. Looks and tastes like a high quality non-Kosher Manhattan fine dining place. That is a compliment. You can take your Jewish or Goyish clients here and they will be impressed. I had the beef bolognese and it is better than the same dish at Del Posto!!! Need I say more.

Yelp
When I planned my short trip to NYC, I wanted to try some new places I've never been to. I read about Barnea Bistro online, and I was determined to try it and see if the hype was real. From the moment my friend and I entered the restaurant, we were greeted warmly and taken to our table for 2. We had several staff explain the menu, from the drinks, specials and the main menu. We ordered the blueberry cocktail and it did not disappoint. After hearing how special the Rib appetizer was, we decided to snag the last one of the night. I've never had meat so tasty that just literally fell off the bone. Finally on to the center cut fillet, cooked perfectly medium rare. Our main server was very attentive, and we never felt rushed, and it created the perfect experience. I was happy to find an upscale restaurant that didn't force an auto gratuity, which was perfect, as I happily left about 30%. He deserved it. In fact, I usually don't ask to see the server as I'm leaving, but I needed him to know what an amazing experience we had. When I visit NYC again, while I want to keep trying new places, it would be extremely difficult to not want to automatically visit Barnea Bistro! Perhaps one of my top 5 meals of my lifetime.

Yelp
BEST BEST BEST BEST BEST restaurant, dining experience and of course, food. All I can say is WOW. It was a pleasure throughout the whole course of the meal. Even with the conditions of outdoor dining everything was amazing. You can truly taste all the love and time it takes to perfect every dish. With no exaggeration, every dish posted below is a 100/10. The staff and the chef/owner are so sweet and caring. For your next occasion make sure you come here!

Yelp
What an amazing evening! I found a new love in Barnea Bistro!! Brand spanking new with the best cocktails and service. First thing: this place is kosher. Second thing: its brand new, opened July 15th 2018 Third thing: its super busy, book a reservation Fourth thing: go for the food, stay for the drinks, heck, just go for the drinks, they are that good. Went with my kosher bestie to celebrate our past birthdays (yeah Cancer!). Our reservation was booked for the wrong Monday, major oops! But the hostess accommodated us at the bar, because as stated before, the place is new, fancy and in demand! We had all the drinks, ate all the food, had all the laughs and soaked in all the good vibes. The fish tacos were tasty, the corn salad was amazeballs and my friend said her veal was perfect! Sadly my chicken was under cooked so I had to send it back. Took a few more minutes wait but it was indeed delicious, flavorful and moist and that butternut squash was fire! The cocktails were otherworldly. Every drink I had hit the spot. If it weren't only Monday I'd have tried the entire drink menu lol. This place will be a hit, even with the non-kosher crowd. I recommend.

Yelp
Great service a exquisite menu. Restaurant beautifully reacted to our anniversary celebration with champagne and extra desserts.

Yelp
The best thing was the old fashioned - on point. I guess we expected more caliber for the food. Don't like to leave hungry from a restaurant.

Elana L.

Yelp
Unpleasant staff- go to Sen Sakana instead! I do not usually leave reviews, but was so aggravated this past Thursday, 4.27.23, that I felt compelled to do so. I cannot review the food, as our experience there never got us that far. We made reservations for 745 and were told that we would be in the lounge section with a view. I made the reservation for 3 people since we weren't sure if our daughter would be able to join us. When we arrived, we asked to be seated. The hostess refused to seat us until we reach our daughter to make sure she is coming. We could not reach her, and therefore this obnoxious hostess REFUSED to seat my husband and me. My husband then said, ok, just seat us at a table for 2 and if our daughter shows up, we'll squeeze her in or figure it out. Again this awful hostess told us that it won't be possible for our daughter to join us since we will be at a table for 2. I have never seen such a negative hostess, so rigid, unpleasant and with a cold attitude. At that point, we decided to leave, we went to Sen Sakana where the staff made space for us (they were just as busy as Barnea, but know how to handle pressure), seated us comfortably, and the food, ambiance and staff were truly excellent. If you want a fun, high quality kosher restaurant in Manhattan, definitely try Sen Sakana and stay far away from Barnea!

Yelp
Drinks are top. Apps are great! Decor and ambiance are very nice. Hard to say anything bad here.

Yelp
Fine-dining experience. You want to go there dressed to the nines. Super high-class clientele. Chef is a real gentleman and can be seen making his rounds. Perhaps the most elegant kosher establishments I've been to.

Yelp
Inventive menu, classy decor, flawless service. Our party of 6 came here to celebrate Purim, and what an excellent choice. Pricey but well worth the splurge.

Yelp
Amazing food, drinks, and amazing service. You should go here whether you are kosher or not. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Overall a great French restaurant. The foods are high quality for sure, and the service is near splendid. Everything here is pretty professional. Also, the desserts are amazing! Each is $18, and each is great, especially the ice cream and chocolate mousse ones. I ordered the key lime pie, and I do like it but not much; it is a little too sour and strong. I prefer a more subtle flavor of key lime. The foods here do not come in great amount, which I guess is a characteristic of French cuisine. But, every dish is elegant and beautifully garnished. The reason it does get 5 stars in my review is I believe the price does not really match the quality and quantity.

Yelp
I was here about seven or eight times this past summer. Great service here, and the decor is beautiful. But expensive! That's the TLDR. The prices are very steep, and I'd challenge anyone to spend less than $45 with tip and tax. Oyster steak was okay, but the burger was great. Barnea salad was okay, but note that if you add a piece of salmon on top, you will get more for less than just buying the salmon, as both come with the same size salmon I believe. The sweet squash soup was great, and everyone who's tried the pulled brisket sandwich has loved it.

Yelp
We were having the dinner at this this place tonight. The waiter was coming to us every 10 minutes asking if we want to order more which was kind annoying. We didn't want to order more, so the double-calculated our drinks in the check. When I figured it out, the waiter was like "so sorry for the mistake". We left 10% tips (didn't want to leave any), and left the restaurant. The waiter was running after us on the street and requesting us to leave 20% - he said it's requested amount of the tips that we MUST leave and was showing us the check where it says "suggested tips". When I told him it's suggested not requested and we were even not going to ad more any as they tried to cheat in the bill, he left us with "pissed off" face. Do not recommend.

Yelp
Had a 4 hour dinner here, by far one of the best steaks I've ever had. The steak was aged for 90 days and was cooked perfectly. We had the ox tail and lamb chops. We tried the avocado ice cream which was worth the trip alone. So many great items on the menu.
