The 34 Best Restaurants in Madrid, Spain | Eater

"After earning a Michelin star at Punto MX, chef Roberto Ruiz decided to close the restaurant during the pandemic and leave behind tasting menus. His newer, more casual concept, Barracuda, remains one of the best representations of haute Mexican cuisine in Spain, focused on the fresh flavors that compose the 5,000 miles of Mexican Pacific coastline. Ruiz relies on Mexican recipes but utilizes local produce to achieve perfect aguachiles, ceviches, and sea bass a la talla, as well as more ambitious dishes like wagyu memelas or bone marrow accompanied by red tuna tostadas. If that weren’t enough, there’s a tequila and mezcal cart that parades around the tables. Vibe check: For a fun night out, visit during taco Tuesdays or mariachi Wednesdays." - Paula Móvil

Barracuda MX

"A casual and informal restaurant that showcases cuisine from Mexico’s Pacific coast, albeit with a lighter touch and a focus on fish and seafood. Enticing cocktail menu!" - Michelin Inspector

A truly fantastic experience! I booked this for a dinner with colleagues from Australia , who rarely get a chance to eat proper Mexican food. Barracuda did not disappoint! The food was fantastic across the board. Try the Huitlacoche and thank me later. Additionally, I have to complement their extraordinary patience with our party. I had to swing by to adjust our reservation not once, but twice, and Nicole was gracious and accommodating. Diego, our server, spoke excellent English and was an absolute professional. We had a really complex requirement to split the check (one of our party was a government official who needed to have a separate receipt), and the staff was as patient as they could be in helping us sort it out. I know what a pain in the ass that is, and the fact that they kept their cool was pretty impressive. If you’re in Madrid for a bit and need a culinary change of pace from the local cuisine, put Barracuda at the top of your list.

AO “Fine diner”

Good place for seafood, the very few that make carajillo the Mexican way! The cochinita pibil is great and so the octopus and carnitas tacos. The service is really bad, we had to get our own menus, the waiter showed up 20min after we got seated and there were just a few tables so it wasn’t crowded, and on top of that he was really moody.

The ambiance was nice, but the experience overall didn’t wow me. For starters, we had the guacamole, which was just okay. For mains, we ordered two tacos that were very plain and tried the wagyu taco, which was also just okay. The chicken enchiladas were good, and the cocktails were definitely a highlight – delicious! However, the place didn’t blow me away, and for the value, I don’t think I’d return.

I have visited this restaurant once. We tried several dishes but unfortunately none of them excited us. They didn't taste very good, the tacos (or tortillas) were tasteless and the mains had a strange taste and texture, especially the bone marrow. The staff polite and helpful. I wouldn't choose it again Follow me for more on Insta @sofis_food_passport & TikTok @sofis_food.passport

This was a superb culinary experience with a range of flavors evoking comfort, discovery and excitement among the array of dishes tasted. The drinks were amazing. The service was impeccable. The design of the restaurant was both playful and transporting. A definite must go!

We went to dinner last Sunday at 8:30pm. We followed the recommendations of the waiter Carlos, very friendly, attentive and professional. And certainly got the dishes right. We loved the ceviche of "Vuelve a la vida" and my husband really enjoyed the spicy ceviche of "Pargo". We all liked so much the ceviche of "Vuelve a la vida" that we ordered another one. The guacamole con totopos and tacos were very good too. The margaritas coktails were delicious! We‘ll definitely be back, and then it will be our fourth time :)

We was there for lunch and I think it was an overall nice experience. We were two persons and we decided to go for a bunch of different tacos (I've already uploaded the pictures) to try and many things as possible. The octopus one was the like I liked the most and the "torrija" dessert was particularly good. The duck taco was okay but I had expected it to be more tasteful. As I said, and overall nice experience.

Excellent meal, good service. Easy to get reservations. Loved the chilli's in all the Mexican inspired dishes. Definitely pricier than average but worth a try if you're in for a snack.
