"Barrel 33 is a wine and beer bar in the Village that looks like you're drinking cab sauv inside a literal barrel. It's also the place to go when you don't want to drink at a loud dive bar or need to kill some time before dinner perusing a carefully curated wine flight. The wine selection is long (the bartenders are real wine people and help you pick the right bottle), and the craft beer selection frequently rotates. There are also snacky things to eat, like flatbreads topped with prosciutto and giant Bavarian pretzels if you want to ditch dinner and keep drinking until 8pm. Yes, they close early for a bar." - sylvio martins, garrett snyder, brant cox

"Wine tasting is entirely possible in Big Bear, and a handful of rooms are dedicated to it. Barrel 33 serves regional wine, craft beer, and cider tastings with small bites, salads, charcuterie boards, Bavarian pretzels, toasted sandwiches, and a truly nice dessert menu. Order the Basque cheesecake." - Eater Staff

Warm Glühwein was great after a hike. Staff were very friendly and provided great service. There was live music and a cozy, upbeat vibe.

The atmosphere was just so cool. A wine bar in the mountains, expect no less! Did was great and the staff went above and beyond to make you feel right at home

Where do I begin!? Dan! She’s amazing! She knew exactly what we were in for 🍷 her vibe is just amazing, she made our first time experience a one of a kind thing and talk about customer service, she was so helpful and sweet. ! I’m definitely coming back with friends and family. ❤️🍷

Google
My partner and I stopped in tonight for the first time and had such a wonderful experience! They had so many wine and beer options, as well as some great ciders and hard seltzers, and the food was incredible! We are charcuterie fans, and their offering of the meats/cheeses/olives/fruits and nuts/etc. served inside a soft pretzel was phenomenal! The staff was so friendly and helpful, and they're dog-friendly, so our sweet girl got to come along and join the fun with us! We saw that they host a lot of music and art events, and can't wait to go back for those!

Google
As someone who loves charcuterie boards and wine tasting, I was floored by this place. I went in the middle of the week to avoid the rush, and it was such an incredibly cool experience. We spoke at length with the very friendly staff, and got the board that comes with what would be one of the best pretzels (and cheese dip) I've ever ordered. It was a really amazing experience that we'll be repeating in the future!

Google
Live music, wine and beer. We were told about this place when we booked our Zipline adventure (another must try!), We were happy to have gone here, everyone was inviting, great atmosphere, good crowd, beers were really good. They did have outdoor space as well. Definitely a good spot to visit when in town, though I don't doubt there's a lot of locals there, Id be there I were closer.

Google
We had not been to Big Bear for a couple years, but when we revisited we made sure to stop into barrel 33. It's a very nice wine bar, they have food you can eat along with your drink, and depending on the night they have live music. We enjoy sitting in the couch area with our wine plushies with a snack. Plenty of seating - you can be as social or non-social with other patrons. Just a great place to visit.

Google
Barrel 33 was a great spot to stop in at. Great set up and wine bar. Was able to try the wine slushies which had red and white. Treated ourselves to a 3 cheese grilled cheese & pretzel bites. The side salad had a really good dressing with a salty flavor. The pretzel bites were good but they need to be consumed quickly or theyll get hard quick. Definitely try their Peltzer Family Cellars Prosecco, it was smooth and had a nice crisp flavor. They have great customer service ! Don't forget to stop in and give them a try

Yelp
Barrel 33 in Big Bear Lake is a great spot to enjoy a wine and beer flight. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing evening. They offer a diverse selection of wines and beers, allowing you to sample a variety of flavors. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, often providing insights into each drink. It's a fantastic place to unwind and discover new favorites.

Yelp
Barrel 33 staff is awesome! My granddaughter and her boyfriend got engaged last week so my husband and I wanted to do something special for them. We don't live nearby so I wanted to use DoorDash. Unfortunately, they wouldn't deliver to my kids' address. After a couple of conversations with Joanne (she's amazing!) trying to figure out how to get it delivered, she offered to deliver it herself on her way home. The newly betrothed couple got the wine and charcuterie platter and absolutely loved it! Thanks again Joanne for making my family feel so special!

Duck D.

Yelp
Great staff, really excellent wines. Definitely recommend the tasters. One of the best wine tasting experiences I've had. Ambience of the place is really nice. Upscale place and I am definitely looking forward to going back.

Yelp
While walking around the village in Big Bear Lake, we came across this wine tasting room and restaurant. I had been searching for a new wine decanter and I found one here. It is a very unique one but allows the wine to really open up and breathe due to its circular design. This place offers wine, beer and cider tasting, tasty food that comes from fresh, local ingredients, wines from regional vendors and a curated retail shop. It is family owned and has been open since 2017. Although we did not stay to wine taste or eat I do intend to come back as all the food looked very savory and delicious. There is a lovely patio out back for warm weather dining and wine tasting. Staff were helpful and efficient at check out and I really have enjoyed my new wine decanter. See you next time Barrel 33!

Yelp
We arrived in Big Bear around dinner time but decided to order in instead of going out. We had Barrel 33 delivered. I had the prosciutto salad, and my wife had the Mediterranean flatbread. The flat read was delicious and came with a nice side salad. The prosciutto salad was amazing. Fresh greens, sun-dried tomatoes, and a sweet balsamic reduction as dressing with a big buratta and prosciutto. We were so impressed with the quality of the food that we took a trip over to the restaurant to check it out and have some more of their food. The restaurant is half wine bar/tasting room and half restaurant. There's a few tables, several bar counters, and several seating areas with couches and chairs. The staff was super friendly and helpful with any wine or beer you're looking for. The food was amazing, again. We got a charcuterie board, bacon wrapped dates, and a wine flight. Delicious We'll be back.

Yelp
Nice little spot in downtown Big Bear village. Staff was super friendly. Love the small town vibes. Very welcoming in there. I tried a sangria flight and the Tinto wine was my favorite one. Dan took care of us and broke down the story behind each wine she gave me. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the village.

Kathy C.

Yelp
This was absolutely the best experience! Go see Joanne she has the best personality and she knows her WINE!! Entire Barrel 33 family was amazing and definitely a 10/10!

Elijah H.

Yelp
Joanne is absolutely amazing and made the most of our visit. My girlfriend and I both had the wine flight of 5 and received a free wine glass. Its been so much fun and we just want to thank Joanne for such an amazing experience. Fantastic vibes live music and great ambience!

Mimi L.

Yelp
We came in for some wine tasting and this is the only wine bar in the entire Big Bear. Place is very spacious with two rooms and quite cozy. They serve a good varieties of food. We did a few rounds of tastings along with lunch / snack food. I liked all the whites especially rose. Hubby liked his Cabernet as usual. Flatbread, cheese plate, olives and burrata salad were fresh and delicious. Our bartenders were so friendly and pleasant the entire time. They had good knowledge of the wines. We bought a couple bottles home of course. I was glad that the wine tasting experience was so much fun and relaxing the same time. We will definitely stop by this place next time we are in town!

Marie M.

Yelp
This place was a nice find. It was a bit loud in the the immediate area where the bar is, but outback on the patio it was nice. Lulu was awesome with our service. Food was great. I tried the sangria Flight which was yummy.

Dj M.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite places on Big Bear. I forgot to make a review last time and couldn't do it in Idaho. The staff is amazing, the beers, wines, and ciders are amazing. I have had the large pretzel in the past and it's amazing. This time my wife and I ordered the chicken brie with sweet potato fries. The service was great and the sandwiches were great. This place is worth visiting, just for some wine or beer. Every time we are in Big Bear we stop by.

Holly B.

Yelp
Where do I begin?! My large group and I stumbled upon this place, only looking for shelter from the Big Bear storm last weekend. But we left with an experience we will never forget. We all shared some gorgeous wine and charcuterie, and oh boy, did we laugh! Our server (turned BFF), Joanna, gave us an unforgettably personal experience. She touched each and every one of our hearts. We also purchased some of her jewelry, which I will pass down to my kin. Beautiful wine and beautiful people. If you have the pleasure of going here, give Joanna a big big hug and a smooch for us!

Kristin U.

Yelp
Visited barrel 33 today and could not have had a better experience! Thank you Joanne for filling our day with fun and knowledge and literally cannot wait to come back! And our necklaces are so adorable... Great experience ! Made our day!

Suzie A.

Yelp
We are a large party from Hawaii and San Marcos walking into this warm and wonderful smelling venue showcasing wines, sweets and other delectable items! Located in Big Bear Village across from Super Mart and next to Dave's Whisky, we were enthusiastically welcomed by Joanne, a beauty in black hat with a pretty feather and sparkling smile. She was flying solo but with our large group she gave us the BEST service we've had in a very long time and that's saying something. That delicious smell that intrigued me upon entering was Gluhwein, a German version of hot toddy with cinnamon - piping hot which was perfect after our walk through the snow flurries and 31* temp. Feeling a little hungry, she has a nice menu to choose from - a variety to appease everyone's palate- from salads to flatbreads, giant pretzels with cheese and mustard, sweet potato fries, cauliflower puffs on the spicy side with dipping sauce, a beautiful charcuterie tray, grilled cheese and much more, plus sweets like carrot cake. My son's fiancee also ordered the wine flight with nice pours which we had fun passing around to try while sitting at one of the corner groupings which were comfortably placed throughout both sides of the shoppe. The ambience was casually elegant and quite cozy. We stayed for a couple of hours enjoying the selection of cool tunes Joanne had selected and Joanne kept checking in to make sure we were doing okay or to share some interesting tidbit of Big Bear history. Joanne is the gem of this gem of a wine shoppe and we shall return on our next trip to Big Bear. She also has selection of clothing, wine accessories, chocolates, sodas/juices and jewelry! Thank you sweet Joanne for all your gracious hospitality to our large group and toddler!

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
We were doing food scavenger hunt and this is one place we need to go. It's a restaurant and bar which was clean, organized and great menu selection. We were greeted by the owner beautiful woman. She assisted us with our complimentary food from our amazing fever big bear hunt. We got our charcuterie box. It was mixed nuts dried fruits salami prosciutto olives cheeses . It was worthy. Very nice place to visit in big bear.

Jamie C.

Yelp
Where do I began...... we are so fortunate to have stumbled into Barrel 33. I found the spot on Yelp however I had no idea how convenient the location is when visiting Big Bear. It is right in town! Perfect location. Walking from public parking you can't beat the location. Service: Impeccable! The service was amazing! We celebrated Easter here with our friend from Japan and they made us feel at home. We received the best recommendations from Joanne! She treated us like VIP customers! We tasted delicious wines and she explained everything to us. We did the 5 wine tasting which gave us a souvenir glass to take home! Extremely reasonably priced! I also bought an additional glass of the bubbly, perfect for a Sunday! We left with 2 additional bottles of wine suggested by Joanne! We were lucky to have live music, which they typically have every Friday & Saturday, on Easter Sunday! I could go on and on! Thank you Joanne Norton for a memorable experience and a Happy Easter! Ramona

Lafayette O.

Yelp
It was our 1st time into this place. We ordered the baked brie with fig jam and crackers. It was delicious and I had a peltzer chardonnay from temecula ca!! And a glass of the barbera also from temecula winery. So happy they made their way out there. Bartender was our waiter too. And he was pretty quick and nice too. It was very cozy inside not really a place for children. Definitely will be back again.

Miguel L.

Yelp
1st time and last time I'm going here.. Unfortunately they were kind but had horrible wine selection.. as executive chef it was really disappointed and discussedted by the selection.. Dany wastn very cool.. and non apologetic.. all my friends in the Industry will be told about this horrible place

Buffy M.

Yelp
We discovered Barrel 33 last summer and were surprised by the warm greeting from Shelly when we returned this year. If you are new in town, make this your first stop! Not only will you get great eats and unique wines but the staff is welcoming & full of suggestions for things to do! There is live music on Tuesdays and a beer & Bavarian pretzel special. Yes, they have beer on tap as well. We truly love this spot and appreciate the consideration they give to us as dog owners who can't leave the pooch in the AirBnB. There are two patios. The front is enjoyable for people watching and lounging on the Adirondack chairs. The back patio is serene and private with cool games to play. Barrel 33 is a must do!!

Sean S.

Yelp
My wife and I are on a trip in Big Bear and stumbled upon Barrel 33. We are so glad that we did. What a great ambience this place has. We ended up having some really good champagne served by Joanne who treated us like family. She is a real gem. We highly recommend anybody visiting the village at Big Bear to stop by this local establishment. You will be glad you did.

Evan T.

Yelp
Super includive environment! Kenz was helpful, fun, and knowledgeable about the beer on tap. There was quite a selection of snacks. The pickles and beer selection are good!

Nancy C.

Yelp
Joann was AMAZING and can't wait to return!!!!!!! Joann recommended the wine that would change your life and it certainly is!!!!

Tammy S.

Yelp
Service is amazing!!! It's our go to spot every time we visit our cabin!! Tons of wine and food options. Love it.

Tara G.

Yelp
Love this place! Great beers and wine, super dog friendly. Joanne was the best! Can't wait to go back.

Loretta W.

Yelp
Fun in Big Bear! We stumbled upon this place while on a weekend getaway for Easter weekend. We were greeted enthusiastically when we e steered, and the service continued to be top notch, even though they were busy. They had a great live band playing old classic rock tunes, which made my heart happy the entire visit!!! They were fun and sounded great! We order the prosciutto flatbread, which was sooo soft and delicious. With the burrata, mozzarella, and artichoke hearts, it was creamy and the caramelized onions gave it a hint of sweetness. Yum! We also got The grilled dates wrapped in bacon. Well, because bacon and dates. You can't go wrong and we weren't disappointed. We also ordered a wine tasting and enjoyed 6 pours of a mix of red and white. My favorite was the Peltzer Malbec. So decadent. This place was super great!!! We played a game of Azul while sipping, and it was a lovely Saturday night!

Dana S.

Yelp
Really cute wine bar in Big Bear with a very friendly staff and a great selection of wines.

Victoria L.

Yelp
Listen. Skip the restaurant scene in BearLake. You can booze till you snooze and eat amazing food here. The cauliflower bites, pretzel and flatbread are 10/10. Skip the charcuterie board, they don't have this one figured out just yet. They offer beer fights, wine flights, sangria flights... whatever your heart desires. Service is great, ambiance is wonderful with indoor and outdoor options. Food was fresh and hot! Will be back. Definitely recommend! Better than any restaurant I've been to in Bear Lake, Periodt.

David d.

Yelp
Kenzi had great wine. There was nothing that I could recommend more than coming and having the experience that I had. Any people that have a need for a white wine on a bad day, This woman will make sure your day is turned around when it comes to a petite sirah or a Pinot noir look no further there are a lot of options in the village don't waste your time walking around you've got more than thirty three options, but 33 barrel is a place to go.

Christian R.

Yelp
We decided to stop in and have a drink. Great selections! We love Brewery X Hard Seltzers and they had Huckleberry on tap which is always a fav. Definitely recommended these guys if you want to have a nice vibe and enjoy Big Bear for the heart of the village. Dan and Kenz were our waitresses/staff and were super nice to talk to and get to know :) Oh! Their Brie Bowl is literally one of the best things I've ever had. Didn't get a picture of it cuz I ate it so fast. Such a great place :)

Lisa L.

Yelp
This super cute little wine bar is a must stop! They had 5 tastings for $30 and the pour was enough for us to share, super tasty wines. And the bartender, Joanne was awesome at suggesting things we loved. The Brie and honey toast was amazing! Definitely give them a visit when you're in the Village:)

Ramin R.

Yelp
you have to come by this spot. This is a must stop when you're in big bear. Joanne is the best Somm there is. Come by relax open a bottle and let the good times begin.

Miguel C.

Yelp
In March, our party of six encountered terrible service. We requested a group reservation for later in the afternoon only to be rudely turned away by a server/host who made prejudiced remarks towards our Hispanic/Asian group. When we asked for management, we were told Aleyna doesn't care for your kind up here. We left to avoid escalating the situation.

Mandi L.

Yelp
Cheers to Dan, she was amazing!! She took such great care of us from the minute we walked in. Her warm personality and knowledge of wine was beyond!! Her and I could have chatted for hours about wine and being Texas girls. She picked an impeccable flight for me solely by asking what I do t like, plus it helped we have very similar taste. The charcuterie board was a perfect snack for day drinking. Great experience, my fiancé and I will definitely go see Dan every time we're in Big Bear.

Andrew K.

Yelp
This is the place to visit when you're in Big Bear. Always very polite, feels like home. Wine and live music is great. Joann is incredible! She made our night

Audra N.

Yelp
Good to try a variety of beers and wines. They are very nice and offer you tastings before you select what you want to eat. We had a lot of snacks that were good - I recommend the vegetables and hummus with pesto and the giant pretzel. We would pass on the fried cauliflower next time. High tables with stools. Comfortable setting.

Mylesha D.

Yelp
Getting there: Located in the heart of Big Bear Village, directions from the 10 fwy are to take exit 85 for CA-38 E and then continue onto Big Bear Blvd until you reach the location on your left. There is only street parking available in this area so you'll have to drive around and see what you can find. Experience: Barrel 33 is a hidden gem in Big Bear Lake that my friends and I stumbled upon by chance one day. The place had a charming atmosphere with wooden furniture and vintage decor that added to the cozy vibe. We were surprised by the extensive wine selection and knowledgeable staff that helped us choose the perfect bottle. We didn't stay for food this time, but we have that on our to do list for our next trip. The staff was friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. I highly recommend this place for a casual evening out with friends or a romantic date night.

Maria N.

Yelp
Joanne was the best!!! Did the wine tasting and had the brie toast and charcuterie board! So fun and lots of laughs with her! A must stop in Big Bear!

Maricela C.

Yelp
Great place we have been here a few times over the past few years even during Covid and their wine tasting was wonderful. We popped in last week and Dan treated us so wonderfully and we walked out with four amazing bottles of wine I could've bought 10 but we had to control ourselves lol. The late harvest is so delicious along with their high altitude Merlot and Zinfandel. All of the reds that were selected by Dan on our tasting were delicious. We had a very tasty Tempranillo. We have also had their delicious food and it really is tasty. This is a great spot in big bear. I absolutely love it. They also have new wine glasses that are so pretty. Unfortunately we were able to take home our pair since they were running low.
