Phenomenal spot! Brought my wife here for Valentine's Day. Each course was beautiful. Our waitress was wonderful and super friendly. Atmosphere was exclusive and had the feeling that we were receiving direct attention for our experience. Best scallops I've had in Charlotte area. I had no complaints and will 100% be returning here and very soon!

We came here for my husband and my birthday dinner. The food was average, fine. The cheese plate is shown as a goat cheese platter, it was a blue cheese platter with two crackers… my pork chop was fine. My husbands veil was very dry. Our waitress was nonexistent, not attentive, and totally avoidant. Spending $300 on dinner was not worth the dining experience.

I took my girlfriend to Barrington's on a recent Saturday night. It is a small but very classy restaurant. We split the arugula salad and ordered a bread basket. I am not used to paying for bread, but it was very tasty. I ordered the Gnocchi, and I loved it. My date had the rigatoni, and she let me try it. Both meals were delicious, and I would get the rigatoni the next time I go back. They also have a nice selection of wine by the glass. For dessert, we split the warm chocolate pudding cake, and it was a real treat. Our server Mike was very helpful with reviewing the menu and providing exceptional service. I would highly recommend Barrington's for your next date night.

Google
Fabulous food and service. The 4-course menu is a great value. each person gets to choose their preferred appetizer, pasta, entree and dessert. My friends and I agreed that all of the pasta options were great. The gnocchi is really well made. It isn't heavy. My scallops were perfectly cooked. I really liked the wine options while my old fashioned was decent. Ultimately, I would focus on wine vs cocktails here. FYI, very few of the menu options are plant-based. You may want to call if you have a vegetarian to see what options they have.

Google
I want to say that the service that we had was exceptional and the restaurant is very nice. All three of us said these were the smallest entrées we’ve ever received at a restaurant Ever. My steak literally was four bites. My coworkers gnocchi was about four bites and my other coworkers scallops were about 3 to 4 bites. We spent $217 every single one of us is starving.

Google
It's small but that's the charm. The food is always awesome. The drinks are great! I had the key lime drink, my husband the blood orange. For food we had the cheese plate, he had the halibut and I had the pork. I probably should have gone lighter, but oh well. The food is always on point!

Google
Superior overall service made my dining experience noteworthy. Excellent quality of fresh ingredients. Delicate seafood dishes, like the Octopus and Sea Scallops were prepared flawlessly. A generous portion of the decadent foie gras made my eyes sparkle. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the duck breast entree. Do not skip dessert! You won't want to miss out on Baklava Cheesecake, or if you are lucky, they will still have the seasonal apple cranberry cobbler.

Google
This was our first time, but we will be back, especially for Barrington's winter menu (it will have steak). We ordered braised octopus (delish). For our main course we opted for juicy perfectly cooked to medium rare lamb chops and mouth watering scallops. Paired with Malbec, this was an excellent dinner!

Yelp
5 stars to the chef. The tagliatelle was phenomenal. The cream sauce with mushroom, peas and sage was on point. It was absolutely the best. Barringtons is a small establishment. We had a reservation for what turned out to be a party of 9 women. When making the reservation, it was stated that separate checks could be cut. And as a female waiting on a table of 9 females, what tells you that I want to pay for anyone's else's alcohol and dessert w/o telling us that the system is so antiquated she can't cut separate checks until she brought the check out and said it was 50+ per person. If this had been the only issue w/the wait person, it'd be no problem. She obviously did not want to wait on our party and made us fully aware of that. From not remembering who had what dish to complaining because the person at the end of the table, the very end not the middle screwed up how the orders were coming out. She hid in the kitchen while we were there and the bartender or the manager handled cashing us out. This is Barringtons - this is not the service one expects from a restaurant that is known as one of the best in Charlotte.

Yelp
Barringtons was delicious. As always. Service was on top of it and made you feel special. My table opted for the pri fix menu. $95 for four courses. A special time

Gretchen G.

Yelp
Incredible first time at Barrington's. Everything from start to finish was delicious. I had the special salad with butter lettuce, beets, and focaccia croutons to start. Next split the mushroom tagliatelle and halibut special with someone else. Both were incredible. We spilt 3 desserts including lemon cake, chocolate pudding cake, and seasonal cobbler. 10/10 meal can't wait to go back!

Yelp
It's the second or third time since Covid we've tried to make a reservation outdoors for a larger party (7) and was told no. My parents are both cancer survivors with compromised immunities and cannot sit inside. There are 2 4 tops available outdoors that I attempted to reserve (I would have been fine with us just being next to each other) and was told no several times. Extremely disappointing and completely illogical. Will take our business elsewhere.

Yelp
Rarely have my wife and I dined at a restaurant that is so good, I had to write a review about our experience tonight. The restaurant is located in Foxcroft off of Fairview, in Charlotte. We were eating lunch at Brixx earlier this week and saw the sign for Barrington's as we were leaving Brixx. We stopped to check out the restaurant and made a reservation for Saturday night. One of the better decisions we've made this year. Our server Jen, was superb throughout the evening. She started us off with drinks and we selected a delicious bottle of red wine. It was a red blend with great body and perfect with our meal. Bethany had the arugula salad for her appetizer and I chose the summer special, the corn soup. We always try each others choices and I would get either the salad or the soup on our next visit. For our entrees, Bethany had the scallops and I had the lamb chops. Again, either choice was an excellent one. My lamb chops were perfectly cooked and her scallops were as good as any I've had. We still had a bit of room for dessert so Bethany had the banana bread and I chose the warm chocolate pudding cake. I didn't try Bethany's dessert since it had nuts and I'm allergic. My warm chocolate pudding cake was wonderful. A scoop of vanilla ice cream over chocolate cake and a dark chocolate sauce...decadent. Throughout our meal, we could converse without raising our voices. Everyone in the restaurant was respectful of the people seated next to them. Jason Newman, the sous chef is one of those folks whose food you look forward to trying again. Especially since the menu varies, a little bit, with the seasons. We will be back and will offer to take out-of-town guests here. This place is special. Not cheap but certainly within expectations for fine dining. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the city of Charlotte and a restaurant we recommend without hesitation.

Yelp
I travelled to Charlotte for work last week and ate here on my first night. I agree with most of what has been been said in previous reviews. The dining room is extremely small, which could be nice, but all it takes is one loud person to ruin it. Unfortunately that is exactly what happened during my visit. I ate at the small bar since it was only me, and I was enjoying my quiet meal, until a party of 6 came in. There was one guy in the group who was not only obnoxiously loud, but was cussing and speaking on very inappropriate topics. There were a few other couples trying to enjoy a date night who also had to listen to it. Regarding the food...I had the corn soup as an appetizer, which was good. For the main course I had the fish and the chocolate cake for dessert. I thought the food was good, but the price was a little steep for the quantity. I enjoyed my conversations with the multiple bar tenders. They all provided great service.

Scott B.

Yelp
There's a lot to like ... just needs some 'zhuzh'. Barrington's menu has such wonderful offerings, and the tastes, aromas, and presentations were all well done. I'd give the food a 4.5 and the service was professional and on point, though less related than we'd expected. The biggest miss for me - as we were seated outside - was how utilitarian and 'not a match' the outdoor space approach was compared to their indoor seating. In short, there are metal tables and chairs like you'd find at a lakeside bar... no tablecloths, placemats, or anything. Moreover, the outdoor area seems more after thought that well planned: the Edison lights seemed tossed up, there was little greenery to soften the stark wood of the barn (which was well built and open-air, so with a few appointments would be well suited to an outdoor meal). I think I'd go back, and I'd eat inside. If they zhuzh'd up the covered patio seating, they'd have a gem out there.

Yelp
Even though we were told only availability was 5:30 we were the only people in the restaurant for at least another 1/2 hour. Even when we left there were many empty table so don't understand why we were made to go so early. We were also seated at a not very comfortable table with giant legs and hard to not keep hitting it with 3 at the table. Ok forgetting g that, the food was very good. We got the food gras and the corn soup to share and it was all excellent. I was a bit surprised to have to pay for a. Read basket but it was good and warm. I had the pork tenderloin which was very good but almost felt more like a fall than an August dish. My daughter had the halibut and my husband had the scallops that were HUGE! Desserts looked good and we ordered the peach blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream and it was very good it we were too full to finish. Good but will ask for another table next time.

Yelp
Recently, I had the opportunity to finally dine at this absolutely fantastic establishment. First, reservations are a must. And, make note that you will need to confirm and place a credit card on-file should you not show or cancel. Some may find this aggregating, however, I believe most fine restaurants should have this in place for customer accountability, especially when others could be served that were unable to obtain a reservation. The establishment itself is quaint and very "white tablecloth" traditional. In some ways the entrance is hidden, which offers a mystique about it. Parking is ample. The menu is not overwhelming insofar as you're unable to make a decision; it will have something for everyone. We ordered the lamb and it was superb. The service was outstanding and our waiter and server was dedicated. This is the type of establishment where you speculate a good meal and overall dining experience will occur and leave with that speculation being realized. Moreover, we did not feel rushed, but more so dined at our pace. Also, it's one of the few fine restaurants I've visited recently where customers still respect the fact that dress code should be realized. I recommend open collar and jacket for men and cocktail attire for women. No reason to go suited and booted unless a special occasion. Thank you!

Yelp
Went here for my birthday a few days ago and I was really looking forward to trying this spot for the first time. The food was phenomenal. Lots of flavor and good portions. BUT the female host who greeted us at the door didn't seem thrilled to have us there. We had a reservation and they couldn't accommodate our party. There was no apology or care that we were celebrating a birthday. They split up our party of 8 into two separate tables...which would have been fine....if the tables were not 25 ft from each other. The restaurant is small. There were open tables all around us. Why split our party up into two tables that are COMPLETELY away from each other? Given that we had friends in town visiting, it made for an awkward experience and likely won't ever be back. We didn't feel welcomed at all.

Yelp
Came in with high expectations having lived in Charlotte my whole life and heard wonderful things about Barringtons - really wanted it to live up to the hype. Right out of the gate, the food was delicious and surprisingly comfortably priced. We each had the mixed greens salad (highly recommend) with actual nuggets of honey comb. My fiancée had the salmon, while I had a steak special - both also very tasty and cooked perfectly. We enjoyed a few of their cocktails (limited bourbon selection) and had the twinkies and hand pie for dessert. Definitely unique dessert offerings, which we liked. If I were rating for food alone, it would be 5 stars easily. Our dining experience was a little off which proved to be a bummer. We were celebrating our engagement this evening and mentioned that in the RESY notes, but it was never brought up by anyone during our meal- not even a simple congratulations. Not a deal breaker, but this place is Charlotte dining elite; you expect premium service. Due to COVID, the restaurant was only 50% capacity as well. We thought that would be a great chance to experience this small restaurant without being packed in. A first server came up and greeted us, shared specials and then vanished. Then it seemed like we were strangely handed off to a different server who did a great job, but then after the meal this second server also disappeared while the host brought our checks. Couple the lack of any real salutations with a stuffy neighborhood vibe and we left never really feeling totally comfortable. Go once to say you've tried it - the food alone really is worth it - and then either buy a house around the block and become a local or try somewhere else. Many restaurants will be more motivated to create a memorable experience for you, in addition to great food. Bummed to say we are new to Moffett Restaurant Group but are now less motivated to try their other restaurants.

Yelp
I tried to walk in and get a seat at the bar for two. There were two seats available but they weren't sitting next to each other. Three of the patrons offered to move down one seat either way to make room and the manager said NO! She said she wouldn't allow it. Absolutely ridiculous thing to police. I couldn't believe how rude she was about the whole thing. I'll never be back.

Laura N.

Yelp
This is a great little gem. The food is always great and the service is outstanding! Better make a reservation, because it's very small and always busy!

Stephen S.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Our absolute favorite place to celebrate anniversaries and other big events with just the immediate family or small group, 2-4 friends. We always want to spend the evening just savoring the atmosphere, the wine, meal, dessert, coffee and more. Almost hate to rave about it because I wish I could keep this treasure of a place just our little secret.

Joe V.

Yelp
Absolute favorite restaurant in Charlotte. Small and intimate...perfect for date night. The food from beginning to end is wonderful. Fresh ingredients cooked perfectly....can't wait to return.

M S.

Yelp
I don't hand out many 5 star reviews but Barrington's deserves one. My husband and I are foodies, and to make matters worse, I'm an excellent cook. Often we go for dinner and wonder why we spent the money when their food pales in comparison to what I cook at home. BUT that was not the case tonight. Everything was great. The drinks were good, the mussel appetizer was fantastic. I had the lamb loin and it was flavorful and cooked perfectly, my husband had the rigatoni and it was delicious. He had the fig cake which he enjoyed. I had the chocolate pudding cake which tasted wonderful (although I prefer it to be a bit less runny, but I still enjoyed it). Our server was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was lovely, however it did get a bit loud as the restaurant filled. But we have had a bad run lately at supposed great restaurants in Charlotte and I am happy to say Barrington's put us back on the right track. Excellent. We will definitely be back.

Alyssa C.

Yelp
Quaint little restaurant in SouthPark/foxcroft area. It is a hole in the wall but such good food and service. We started off with the p.e.i mussels and the broth was delicious and a decent portion of mussels. I ordered the handmade gnocchi and it tasted homemade and fresh. Veal mixed in which makes it a great filling dish! I would suggest making a reservation as there is only 10 or so tables inside and a small bar area.

Jeffrey W.

Yelp
Superb food, service, and ambiance. An intimate restaurant for special occasions - highly recommend!

Megan F.

Yelp
Fine dinner with an intimate atmosphere in South Park! The food here is seasonal and the two times I have eaten here I have enjoyed my entree and it's been a special occasion. The fish dishes are uniquely prepared, elegantly plated and tasty. The wine list includes some excellent options for white wines. My husband had a steak that he enjoyed, however, his favorite steak place is uptown. We both enjoyed the homemade bread and salads. The parking lot is shared with Brixx. The decor is a small house setting, small but intimate.

John D.

Yelp
On 12/21/2022 my wife and I dined for the fifth time in15 years we've eaten at Barrington's. Its changed. The interior is small and cozy with expensive prices for the food you get, I.e. each entrée averages $45. ,salads $14, coffee ? , wine is priced by the serving ounce i.e. $16 for 2 ounces. The New York Strip Steak is tender with very little fat and served with a delightful red wine sauce. The deserts ,are good but cost an average of $14 each. The service prompt and informative. The dining area is noisy. "Buyer Be Wear" in purchasing their gift cards. Their vendor does not disclose on the back of the card in writing that the purchased value of the card is valid for only one year, and Barrington's does not disclose that as the purchase is made.

Jeannette A.

Yelp
Definitely a must place to visit in Charlotte. It's a very small restaurant so make sure you have a reservation prior to the date you would like yo attend. We went for Valentine's Day and they had a pre fix menu, so we weren't able to try the normal menu. Honestly it was great but now I have to go back to try more things lol. We had each and appetizer, a main dish and a dessert tray. If you are wanting to celebrarte something pretty special check them out!

Dawn R.

Yelp
This place is tough to get reservations on a weekend, so if you plan to come at that time, be sure to call a few weeks ahead. It is such a quaint, intimate setting. There are not many tables, which is part of the charm. We were there on a Wed. Night. I started off with the lobster corn soup. It was really good. However the stars of the evening were the pasta dishes. Who knew you could good AMAZING pasta outside of an Italian restaurant? Hands-down, we both agreed the rigatoni dish with that A-MAZ-ING sauce was the best meal we've ever had anywhere. I got the house-made buccatini pasta with bolognese sauce... also amazing. For dessert, we shared the smores banana bread pudding with chocolate sauce. The dessert was too small for even one person, let alone 2 so I probably would not order that again. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. We really enjoyed a nice evening. Later that night after dinner, my boyfriend proposed so Barrington's will always be a special place for us.

Johnny L.

Yelp
Great vibe. Food is amazing. Very old school type of restaurant. Nice to have the option versus all the trendy things that are popping up.

Nicolas G.

Yelp
My wife and I had a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic. Rich, complex flavors in all the dishes. Pure artistry. The service and atmosphere also wonderful. Highest marks.

Geoffrey T.

Yelp
I love this place. Been coming for over 15 years and it has never disappointed me. While the menu might be considered smaller, everything is a hit. Best dishes to try are the mussels (get extra bread,) scallops, and gnocchi. I love how small and intimate it is. For a weekend night you might have to make reservations a few weeks in advance but now that you can do it online it's much easier. I almost hate writing this review because it is a small dining room (which makes it even more intimate) and I don't want to other people stealing my favorite restaurant in Charlotte. But this place is always a HIT!

Rick D.

Yelp
We got here about 530 and sat right away, They do take reservations if you call them. The Ambiance is cozy in a galley dining room setting, Holds maybe 60 including the bar area. The Staff was johnny on the spot, Woody seemed to be the sharpest of the bunch and the most knowledable, (he was also our server) and friendly and was right there for our needs without hovering or hitting you up with the, I just stuffed my mouth "How is everything?" Routine. Wine was wonderful, Merlot, Food Was very good and it was relaxing without being pretensious like a lot of places in South Park. Well Done Barringtons We will return.

Gabrielle Z.

Yelp
The menu here features local and organic produce, meats and cheeses. This intimate bistro is hard to get into because it is so small, so reservations in advance are a complete must. This restaurant is the place to go to try creative dishes on a nice night out. I recommend the Peanut Butter and Jelly Foie Gras -- tender foie gras paired with two small slices of toasted peanut butter sandwich. The oddest but most perfect pairing! A definite must try!

Ed B.

Yelp
Had a wonderful dinner at the bar of this Charlotte icon tonight. For excellent baked oysters, and a very very rich and flavorful gnocchi with a veal ragu. Nice glass Acacia Pinot. To finish banana cake with peanut butter ice-cream and chocolate dipped bananas...

Mary Bryan S.

Yelp
Bruce Moffett is the best chef in town hands down! You will love any of his restaurants if you have the opportunity to go! #goodfoodonmontford #stagioni #barringtons #eatlocal

Jennifer L.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. My husband and I have been here multiple times for anniversary dinners. Very cozy and the menu never disappoints. The chicken dish is absolutely divine.

Kate T.

Yelp
After several dining experiences at Barrington's, I was torn between 4 and 5 stars. But last night's birthday dinner for my Mother put Barrington's at 5 stars in my mind. We arrived at 6:30 for dinner, and after realizing they messed our reservations up they were still able to accommodate us. After being seated Mike, our waiter for the evening, arrived, offered water and explained the wine list. He gave us a few minutes to decide on drinks, of which I chose the French Martini and my Mother a Martini Straight Up. Drinks were definitely solid! After we were settled with drinks Mike went over the menu, highlighting some of his favorite dishes, some new and those that have been on the menu since opening. We started with the Calamari two ways, crispy and seared in Indian spices, delicious with a slight kick. In addition to the calamari we had the mussels. Let me just say these were some of the best I have ever had! A light tomato based broth went perfectly with some of the largest mussels and toasted bread served a top, see my photo. As for entrees, we shared the gnocchi and Arctic char. The gnocchi is definite home made and although it is served with mushrooms you feel like you are eating meat, very hearty. The char was cooked to perfection with an amazing crispy skin. I still would love to know how restaurants get fish skin so crispy. We wrapped the evening up with the chocolate pudding cake, which should be described at a chocolate molten cake, heaven! Served with homemade vanilla bean ice cream. The ambience is very nice, a perfect setting for a quiet, romantic or special dinner, and service was top notch. Mike was on point, seemed to love his job, which I love seeing, and never missed a beat. My Mom already asked if we can go there next year for her birthday again. Maybe it'll be our annual dinner.

Colleen L.

Yelp
Reservations are a must. Restaurant is very small but can be kind of loud. We had a great dinner here. Everything we ordered was delicious...the foie gras, arugula salad, rigatoni, gnocchi, pork chop, and catch of the day were all amazing. The coconut cream pie was a nice finish. Very nice wait staff...didn't rush us and provided good service.

T B.

Yelp
We've dined here during our 10 years in Charlotte and have always been very happy with our experience. This review is specifically for their take-out service during the stay-at-home order. We have ordered from many local restaurants during this time - trying to support local businesses as much as we can. *This was by far the best experience and value for a "high end" meal.* (We have ordered from others and spent $100 or more and been disappointed in the portion and quality.) We ordered the family meal and it was well worth every penny. - The portions were generous. They give you four full entree portions (the four of us only finished three), as well as four starters (soup or salad), a pasta (gnocchi - so delicious and plenty for the 4 of us to share), six rolls, and a small dessert. - The quality of the meal was what you would expect from a fine dining restaurant - many others have tried to convert to take-out but haven't been able to convince me it's worth the money. Barrington's does it right. The salmon was cooked perfectly (a tough thing to do for take-out!), the accompaniments were creative and ample. Thank you and we are so glad you were able to pivot and provide the same high quality fine dining experience for us at home!

Jennifer I.

Yelp
Great intimate restaurant. Food is fabulous. Would have chosen different wine.lA great date night place to go to when you have someone you want to invest time with.

Denise B.

Yelp
I have been trying to eat at Barrington's for years now. Every time I wanted to go there was always a reason why we never made it there. Tonight I finally got there and it was definitely worth the wait! My cousin was visiting from Georgia and figured this would be a perfect place to take her to dinner on her last night here. She ordered the cauliflower soup for appetizer and I opted to get the tagliatelle with toasted prosciutto. It is not an appetizer but figured we would share it. Both were delicious. For our main course my cousin got the Catch of the day, which was red snapper. I got the jerk seasoned quail. Both dishes were layered with flavor. The quail had a bean mango salsa with plantains and habanero quail reduction. It was so delicious. The waiter we had was very nice and attentive. He provided good service without being over bearing. I can't wait to go back!

Jeannine S.

Yelp
I've been looking for an excuse to go to Barrington's for the last two years. I finally got my chance yesterday! Yeah! Cue the Champagne popping! Speaking of the Bubbly, that's exactly how the night started. I was with a group for an annual holiday dinner, so several of us enjoyed a delicious celebratory glass, followed by a bottle of Cabernet off of their fabulous wine list. Seriously, great selection at various price points, so it's worth it to get a bottle. The food was amazing. I had the rigatoni to start, but tried the Tagliatelle and Gnocchi that a few others ordered for their main course. They don't indicate it on the menu, but you can get the pasta in a half or full portion. Half was more than enough as a shared starter if you just want a small amount. Good luck choosing between the three pastas, because they were all amazing. The star of the show for me was the Duck, which was so incredibly flavorful and cooked perfectly! I only wish I could make duck as good as Barrington's. The only regret I have was not saving room for dessert. Oh well, I guess I'll have to come back! Overall, a great experience. Perfect for a special occasion! Make sure you call in advance, because this restaurant doesn't have a ton of tables and books up fast!

Madison E.

Yelp
Barringtons is HANDS DOWN my favorite restaurant in Charlotte. The food is amazing. The service is incredible. I've been in person during Covid and I felt very safe here, I've also gotten takeout and it's just as yummy at home!

Andrea H.

Yelp
This is a place that I wanted to go to for a while now. PROS: Food really was excellent. I had the chicken and the chocolate lava cake for dessert. Both items have been on the menu for years and they tasted great so I know why. CONS: This is a tiny restaurant. I mean really tiny for Charlotte standards. Then you get used to it and it feels homey with a neighborhood feel. But that neighborhood is high end South Park where the people who live there act and look like no others in town. It's true, every time I have dinner in a South Park restaurant I keep thinking 'where am I'? Maybe I should get some botox, a Rolex, Hermes scarf, and throw some money around to fit in! The check- I was in a group of 6 people. The restaurant was full and the service was very slow. There were other tables that came and went when we were still there. They just brought one check and we split it 6 ways (I guess the place is too posh to split out checks). I know that 2 bottles of wine were ordered, and we all had max 2 glasses each. The bill was $77 a person plus tip. My dinner and dessert were $23 + $10. Not sure how the $77 happened unless the wine was super expensive. So I was in for over $90 with the tip. How could that even be worth the money for what I ordered? I will go back again but with just one other person, a date night perhaps and try my luck again.

Yelp
Forget eating at the big crowded uptown restaurant. Barrington's offers fine dining with a beautiful intimate setting. Amazing flavors!!! Restaurant had great intimate setting. I can't even tell you how wonderful it was to have an exceptional meal served in a restaurant where you don't have to deal with the noise of alot of people cramped into a large restaurant or having to lean forward to speak to you dinner companion just to have a conversation! The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. The foie gras melts in your mouth and tuna tar tar was exceptional. Please don't get me started with the seared scallops or the duck breast served with pickled carrots and veggies. The flavors and culinary experience wouldn't fit on this comment space. Guess you'll just have to try it. This is definitely THE BEST RESTAURANT IN TOWN!!!! AMAZING!!!!! By the way.... Barrington's was considered a top ten best in the nation a few years ago and you'll find out why when you come to eat here.

Kate F.

Yelp
Barrington's food is some of the best in Charlotte! Bruce Moffett's attention to detail in his plates are par to none. The service was superb, and the food was delicious. I could eat those short ribs night after night!

Alanna M.

Yelp
This restaurant was highly recommended in almost everything we read including best restaurant in NC so of course we had to go check it out. Reservations only. Very small and comparable to "How to Cook a Wolf" (size wise) in Seattle. Quaint, cute and romantic. I was told they have the best gnocchi in the country. I've tried lots of gnocchi in my time, but not enough to say it's the best. I will say the sauce was dynamite. Spectacular. It's remained on their menu for the 13 years they've been around so obviously they have it right. The bread -- was delicious, but I noticed the tables next to us all got 2 pieces each and we only got one. I was the only nonwhite person in the restaurant and I hope that's not the reason why. Then again we were in the south. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope maybe they were just low at the time. The foie gras was not the best ever, but the presentation and the flavors were well prepared and tasty. I had a mahi mahi with mango puree for my main dish and it was right up my alley! A Caribbean kick with a tangy sweet balance from the mango. Delicious and fresh. My friend loved the dessert which was a extra gewy cinnamon roll in a iron cast dish. I found it to be dry on the outside but I was told it was very most inside and was good. My cappuccino was burnt. I was disappointed but didn't complain about it. I figured they do things differently down there and maybe my expectations probably exceeded most coming from the northwest. I just graciously smiled and fudged a little to the waiter about it being good. The restrooms were very clean.

Yelp
Small cute place with excellent food: I liked every item I had which doesn't happen very often. I wouldn't wait for a special ocassion--perfect for a nice date night. Being a comforted by food person, this did the trick when we most needed it. 4.5 stars Food: 4.5, service: 4, atmosphere: 4.3 Cost to worth it rating: 4 (starters around $10, entrees ~$30, desserts $9) Return worthiness: yes Highlights: - Scallops: 4 large ones seared and cooked perfectly on top of creamy grits. Orange marinated fennel and sauce introduced a citrus flavor that added to the layers of the dish yet didn't overpower it. - Tomato soup: delightfully fresh, highlighting natural tomato sweetness, topped with chiffonades of basil, and for a southern twist fried mozzarella balls. Amusement point was the presentation: with the 2 balls for eyes and olive oil half arch below, it looked like a smiley face. Hub and I shared and they split it into 2 bowls for us which was great since he had a bit if a cold. Heard from other tables you could get a half bowl as well. - Roasted garlic: loved the cloves sitting on the table. Tender and mellow enough to spread on warm sliced bread: perfect start to a meal. - Pumpkin waffle with maple ice cream: festive fall dessert and presentation with berries scattered all around. Chose it for the waffle which was great, but star was that house made maple ice cream: bursting with sweet maple flavor with a creamy texture. - Wine list: heavy on great napa/sonoma ones so of course we approved ;-) - Atmosphere: small comfortable dining room. Upscale refined food but no stuffiness came along with it which is my favorite combo. Saloon doors to the restroom amused me. - Service: wait staff knew their dishes and explained them in detail Lowlights: - Not on opentable.com: my preferred way to make reservations and usually just go to places that have that option. Had to make the hub call to reserve. Lovely spot with food that didn't disappoint. Reminded me of one of my faves Nick's back home and will be back if get a chance.

Yelp
This visit was not typical nor representative of what I would typically expect or receive from Barringtons. It wasnt bad but it wasnt great. I had asked my partner to take me to celebrate my 40th birthday dinner at Barringtons. Its been a few years since I have dined there. The service was OK....the server was somewhat attentive .... and her timing was fine....but the vibe wasnt what I had remembered. She did fine. She left us alone for the most part. I had the pan seared scallops. My dish was cooked to perfection. As I was nearing the end of my dish....I noticed my partner was really struggling to eat his. I couldn't figure it out. He had the Shrimp and Grits. He said to me "Im having trouble getting this down". I asked why.....and he said the flavor tasted good but the shrimp was a little tough. I asked to try one of his shrimp. Much to my dismay....his shrimp were more rubbery than a piece of tire. I chewed, and I Chewed, And I CHEWED. .....then I chewed some more. I told him to send it back....but he insisted I let it go. He didn't want to make a spectacle of the situation. In order not to cause any uncomfortable moments, I said nothing. While the food is on the pricey side....I hated for the shrimp to go to waste. I ate 3 (because I can pretty much eat anything)....while he finished the rest of the grits. All in all, our expereince was not bad or horrible .....but for a fine dining experience.....we were just a little let down. I am not sure I would return. Things just dont seem like I remember them.

Yelp
I'll keep THIS review much shorter than the Doctoral Dissertation that I left the first time. First and foremost, Barrington's is still the BEST Restaurant in Charlotte (IMHO)! The quality of the food, the presentation, the atmosphere, the service, the EXPERIENCE is really second to none. You certainly can make a great case for Zebra, the Fig Tree, and maybe one or 2 others, but to my taste buds, Barrington's still rules. Went here on a Tuesday night, which thankfully isn't their busiest, so we had a relatively easy time getting in. Started off with a couple of Rose Wines to whet the appetite. I brought a 95+ Point-rated Châteauneuf-du-Pape as our "main" wine, and that of course turned out to be superb! Had to try their Corn Soup, with Lobster and Truffle Oil, and that was heavenly! And of course, NO trip to Barrington's is complete without their Fois Gras du jour, and it didn't disappoint! Always marvelous, though the accompanying sauce wasn't the best I've ever had but the Fois Gras was just sublime on its own. I ordered a "mid-course" of their famous Gnocchi with braised Veal, which is TO DIE FOR! If you order ONE thing here, get this dish! It's unique and so richly flavored you'll want to cry....it's THAT good! For the mains.....my date had the Grouper dish, which normally uses Halibut, but they substituted Grouper, and they got the outside to be deliciously crunchy and the inside soft and moist. I had the Waygu Beef Sirloin which was very tasty, not the absolute best I've had but very good. Our very professional and friendly waiter recommended the Warm Chocolate Pudding for Dessert. Well this tasted more like a Molten Lava cake than "pudding" as the dark chocolate was rich and oh so delicious! The one big difference since I came last year at this time is that the prices have gone up noticably. The Gnocchi dish was $16 last year and $19 this year. No biggie, but the CORKAGE fee went up from $10 to $30! That's a HUGE increase which I didn't expect. But hey, I did bring a great bottle of wine but that really is a very large jump in price. My bad....I ASSUMED it was still the same price. Lesson Learned....ALWAYS ASK FIRST so that you get NO surprises! All in all, yet another 5 star experience here!

Yelp
Although the food was good, we will probably never dine at Barrington's again. We were never made to feel welcome and our server was especially cool. We mentioned that we were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was met with indifference. It took a full twenty minutes before our server returned to our table to take our order, butter had to be requested and our water glasses were never refilled. These are shortcomings that shouldn't exist in a restaurant of this caliber.

Yelp
Frequently cited as Charlotte's Most Romantic Restaurant, Barrington's has one of the smallest and most intimate settings in the Queen City. With only a handful of tables and a small bar, you and your date will feel like you're the only people in the place, and that's a big part of the charm. The service is excellent and the food delicious -- although not quite as good as I had hoped. My wife ordered the Salmon, which we both agreed was a bit dry and overcooked. My order of Gnocchi was excellent, covered in a succulent sauce and as flavorful as any pasta dish I've tried. The wine selection was outstanding, but the beer selection is sorely lacking, with just a few macrobrews and one local craft available by the bottle. After dinner, we shared a sumptuous slice of chocolate cake, although the dessert menu on the whole was regrettably limited. I'd definitely give Barrington's another try, but for the price, it didn't impress nearly as much as we had expected. It certainly has one of the best vibes in Charlotte, and is a great place to show off on a date. But for my money, there are better restaurants in the Queen City.

Yelp
Barrington's is a special place. Small, quaint bistro-style restaurant with amazing, creative dishes. The flavors on all of their offerings come through on so many different levels. The kitchen staff never ceases to impress. Also, the wait staff makes you feel welcome and right at home. When I go there I order a salad, share an app with my girlfriend and then we order two entrees and share some bites. It feels like a special occasion every time we go and we are regulars.

Yelp
The food in this restaurant is exquisite. They put down some amazing flavors on fairly simple dishes. I had the best Grouper entree I had ever tasted the evening I was here. Service is very good and what a great atmosphere. Hard not to have a wonderful evening at Barrington's. Vital Statistic: You are not going to get this level of culinary experience at a discount in any restaurant. It is gourmet and it has a price associated with it. Small space that fills up quickly so plan far in advance for reservations at a table or you may end up at the small bar. Not a bad place to be either. Great price/value relationship when comparing the high end white table cloth restaurant category.
