"Bar.San should be your first stop when bar-hopping in Chiang Mai. Come early around 6pm to enjoy the Japanese dishes like braised beef tongue served with a raw egg and mentaiko spaghetti before moving on the drinks. The first floor is heavy on bar seats, with brighter lights and chatty bartenders. Those who prefer something quieter may be happier on the second floor—a stark contrast to the first that’s like a private study with jazz playing from the speakers and shelves filled with ceramic figurines and empty liquor bottles. Their cocktail menu goes in a lot of different directions. There’s the tequila-based Pizza Pizza made with parmesan cheese, tomato, and basil, as well as the Shiozakura Collins for those who’re opting for something fizzy with the refreshing sweetness of sakura." - Vichayuth Chantan

I visited Bar San in 2024 and 2025, before it won the Best Bar award. You truly deserve the recognition, delicious cocktails, good vibe, and amazing service. On those nights, nothing is better than sitting at Bar San, enjoying a cocktail, and listening to the DJ play some tunes. But now it’s so crowded that it can be difficult to find a seat if you don’t arrive early. *cry*

My favorite bar in Chiang Mai! Cozy and intimate setting with a different vibe upstairs and downstairs. I sat at the bar with a friend and we enjoyed high quality craft cocktails. My friend loved her food, and while I didn’t eat, the presentation looked excellent. The bartender went above and beyond trying to recreate one of my favorite drinks, even without all the ingredients, and introduced me to a new twist I really appreciated. Can’t wait to come back—definitely top tier! This visit was in 2024 so I don’t recall pricing but it was on the higher end for CM, late review I know 🤦🏾‍♀️

Tasty small bites that will leave you hungry for seconds, washed down with a wide selection of cocktails. Nice spot. Cocktail glasses & presentation could be more hefty or creative but everything else is on point. First & second floor has a distinctive vibe so be sure to check both out.

Unreal experience. The best cocktails I have ever had in amazing ambiance with delightful, friendly service. Get the Pizza pizza - I’ve never seen a bar pull off a similar concept before and they execute it perfectly. I can’t wait to come back.

Went there for the vibes and drinks. Did not disappoint, both were unique and lovely. Would recommend trying out this spot if you are around the area. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the ambience (more quiet than downstairs as well and a large table available for a big group). Price is reasonable for the area and style of drinking. Nothing too remarkable about the fries but tasted good regardless.
