Road Tripping North in Search of at Least a Little Summer - Eater

"Meals, once opportunities to experience the local dining scene — or at least to wash your hands, sit still, and recharge — have become a largely vehicular matter. After Dow Gardens, lunching on takeout in the front seat while parked outside Basil Thai Bistro in Midland, I comprehend anew the one-handed appeal of fast-food staples like burgers and fries. Attempting to eat long noodles and loose rice straight out of plastic to-go boxes, using flimsy disposable utensils, is a game of trying not to splatter grease with each lift of the fork." - Jenny G. Always have loved the food here. They have a very wide menu to choose from. The food is spicy and flavorful. Almost everything I've tasted is good. The ambience is good, servers are great and respectful. Their sticky rice with Mango is very good. Ambience is great, quantity is very good. I love the spice level too, can be a little extra for the wee ones. ;)

The food here was very authentic! I grew up in Asia and I really enjoyed the food here. I will definitely be back. The service was great as well. It was a very relaxing atmosphere and my wife and I really enjoyed our date here. If you are looking for authentic Thai food or just something good to eat this is the place to go!

I really have nothing positive to say about this place except for our server she was great but that was about it. Starting with the crab wontons, papaya salad and the sampler platter nothing was fresh, they all tasted old and just overall not good. For our entrees we got the garlic stir fry with chicken, the pad Thai and the beef over white rice. Everything was disgusting that’s the best way I can put it. Absolutely horrible the flavors were way off and definitely not Thai food. There was barely any chicken in my food and when I told them they said it’s a new chicken they are using that’s not an excuse for no chicken in my meal. The chicken wings from the sampler platter were bloody the owner or manager came out and said that it was normal, I am a cook for over 20 years and that is not normal for chicken wings to be bloody! Overall I will never come back here and will advise others to ovoid at all cost.

Mmmmm. Thai food. I love Thai food, and this place came highly recommended to us by friends. I was looking through their website as we waited for our food, and what I love about them is that they are family-owned (yay! Local!), and they've been around for about 35 years! Best of all, they had at least two of my favorite dishes I've ordered from other Thai restaurants! The other thing I love about this place is that they actually use fresh Thai peppers for spice instead of the dried (I prefer the fresh, I think it gives the dish more flavor that way). A word of caution: if you think white pepper is too spicy, you may want to stick to something no hotter than medium.....unless you're congested, then, by all means, order the Thai hot. For me, between medium and hot was just right!

Food is very good. Our waitress was pleasant even though she was very busy! I loved the Tom Yum vegetable soup and would have been happy with that as my meal instead of an appetizer!

Oh my my !! This will be my all time favorite Thai restaurant in Michigan. I don’t mind driving 2 hours from Rochester Hills to Midland, just to eat food here. Last time I visited, this place was small. But now they moved to Midland downtown. Now they have big and nicely decorated place. Perfect for any style of dinner. My favorite dish is “Curry fried rice”.

Trendy looking Thai place in Midland, MI of all places. Was skeptical at first, because Midland, but the food was really tasty. Reminded me of dishes we had during our visit to Chiang Mai. Food took a bit to come out... Not sure why as when we ordered there were only two other tables occupied, but overall a great experience.
