"Like several of the other neighborhoods on this map, the tiny Bay Village saw more closings than openings this year, including Nahita and Erbaluce (the latter went out with a bang on New Year’s Eve at the start of 2019.) In fact, Eater Boston didn’t hear of any openings in the neighborhood this year. (Know of one we missed? Let us know.) However, one restaurant did get a bit of a revamp: Under new ownership, the 12-year-old Da Vinci Ristorante became Basile Fine Italian Kitchen, focusing on “modern flavors and cocktails” as well as corporate events. Longtime Da Vinci chef Tony Singh returned to the restaurant after a several-year hiatus at Smith & Wollensky." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal, Terrence Doyle

"Basile Fine Italian Kitchen is, as the name implies, fine. It has a pretty standard Italian menu (a decent ravioli masala is as adventurous as it gets) and an atmosphere that seems tailor-made for the executives who work in the Liberty Mutual headquarters across the street. That is to say, come here when you need something safe for a business meeting, but skip it if you want to have fun." - Dan Secatore

The atmosphere here was so nice!! They were able to seat a table of 10 for us last minute. They have non-alcoholic drinks and a lot of variety in their food. Very authentic Italian sauce said my Italian teammate on par with his Italian grandma. The asparagus was my favorite! A MUST TRY, the asparagus.

Our recent trip to Basile restaurant was awesome! The vibe was super romantic, with cozy setups, great tunes, and those cool candlelit tables. We were stoked to see the wide range of dishes and wines they had. And even though we're pretty picky about our wine, our server totally nailed it with their recommendations. The wine they suggested with our fish dish was spot-on, making the whole meal feel extra fancy. Oh, and the sea bass? So tender and tasty! Can't wait to go back for another round soon!

My friends and I had the pleasure of dining at the Basile Fine Italian Kitchen on Saturday, 10/26. The atmosphere and decor of the interior and exterior of the restaurant are amazing. Our server that day was Joshua. He was very pleasant, courteous, and attentive to our requests. He is very skilled at his profession and is a definite asset to Basile. Myself and my friends enjoyed our meals heartily. I chose the pumpkin ravioli, which I highly recommend. In summary, I recommend Basile as a must stop for lunch or dinner when you are visiting Boston.

Google
This restaurant did a poor job understanding the needs of one of our party members who adheres to a gluten-free diet. We assumed the waitstaff would be familiar in knowing the menu's gluten-free items because we saw gluten-free options on the menu. However, when we wanted to confirm that the Gnocchi con Truffle was truly gluten-free, our waiter checked with the chef and told us it wasn't gluten-free. Why is the gnocchi marked on the menu as gluten-free if it isn't? Our gluten-free guest was looking forward to enjoying that dish, but had to substitute with a plain tomato-sauce gluten-free pasta instead. We appreciated that our waiter checked with the chef about the gluten-free status of the dishes we ordered, but it's disappointing to see something marked on the menu as gluten-free when it actually isn't. There was also a long wait for our entrees, so service was much slower than we've experienced at other restaurants at a similar price point. Overall, I don't recommend this place and I think you can get a better experience at other similarly priced restaurants.

Google
I don’t even know where to start. The service moved at a glacial pace with almost no attention paid to us unless we asked (we saw one table walk out as nobody paid any attention to them). The waiter said he’d be back with water, well that took 15 min. Even then we had to ask again for it. Forget bread coming to the table, that was also a special ask after the meal arrived. It took well over 40 minutes for our very very mediocre food to arrive. I’ve had 10x better meals at Applebee’s! While my cappuccino was fine, heaven forbid they offered half and half to someone who ordered coffee. Finally, I asked the waiter how many staff they were down. They confessed they were down a cook and waiter. If you can’t run a restaurant properly you need to close. There are simply too many other great choices in Boston. Basile isn’t one of them.

Google
The bread comes out warm and oil for it is awesome. Calamari was good but the batter really took away from the flavor I thought it was too thick. The lamb chops for dinner very very good as well as the seafood dish. Overall had a great experience on their outdoor patio along Columbus Avenue.

Basile Fine Italian Kitchen is a culinary gem that exceeds expectations at every turn. From the impeccable cuisine to the exemplary service, every aspect of our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. Whether you're a connoisseur of Italian cuisine or simply seeking an unforgettable dining experience, Basile Fine Italian Kitchen is sure to delight your senses and leave you craving for more. I visited during Dine Out week, and it certainly delivered. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and sophistication, setting the stage for what would be an evening of culinary indulgence. We kicked off our meal with the Arancini, a delightful starter that tantalized our taste buds and set the tone for what was to come. I chose the Tuscan-style Ribeye for my entree, while my companion savored the Cioppino, each dish a testament to Basile's commitment to excellence. My Tuscan-style Ribeye surpassed all expectations. Cooked to perfection, each bite was a dream – tender, succulent, and infused with flavors. Meanwhile, the Cioppino proved to be a seafood lover's dream, brimming with an array of fresh seafood that transported us to the shores of Italy with every spoonful. Throughout the evening, our waiter, Alejandro, elevated our dining experience with his impeccable service. Attentive, personable, and endowed with a delightful sense of humor, he effortlessly guided us through the menu, ensuring that every need was met with a smile. Also important to note is that the bathrooms were clean and well stocked.

Yelp
Fantastic service. Food was spot on and the linguine was super fresh, lots of clams! My tiramisu was delicious! Our server Ghiz was amazing!

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Amazing experience @ Basile this evening! The food, ambience and service by Ghiz was excellent. I highly recommend the butternut squash ravioli this fall season. Enjoy!!!

Parsa S.

Yelp
The pasta is perfectly al dente. It's very rare for a restaurant to pull off fresh pasta, but they did it perfectly. The ambiance is quiet, but lively. The service was professional. Our waiter was cordial but knowledgeable. I highly recommend coming here.

nathalie k.

Yelp
Great restaurant, great ambience, amazing service, the hostess was very sweet and welcoming and personable. Ghiz was sooo amazing!!! Such a sweetheart from the call for a reservation to the welcome and the service! The food was excellent, the desert was delectable. Complements to the chef! I was shocked they had availability on a Friday night! This place should be filled with how good it is!

Yelp
I haven't eaten here in years, but remember the last experience was OK so I wanted an any pasta platter so I ordered from this place on Grubhub I got an antipasto platter, arancini, and meatballs , Things were haphazardly split between deli takeout containers the cheeses and meats look like cold cuts from the store. The vegetables weren't marinated. It was just a terrible presentation and taste. I've had any pasta platters delivered before and this was by far the worst looking worst tasting display I've ever had. It was also delivered late which from the tracking seems to be also an issue with the kitchen, not the driver. This was the most disappointing delivery I've ever had from any place ever.

Yelp
Fine dining Italian restaurant in Boston area, quite on the higher price for the quality and quantity of the food. Let me talk about the ambience, very elegant and large place we are a large group of 12 they were able to accommodate us with a prior reservation. Quality of food is alright, portions of food were very small for the price charged. Surf and Turf came out but it was not at the right temperature, may be they made it and it took time to come out to the table. We had to wait a long time for the food to arrive. Wines are alright but again expensive. One thing I didn't like is the waiter asked us if we wanted sparkling or regular water. We asked for regular the first round they got the regular but then brought in 4 bottles of sparkling water and charged about $20 a bottle, this is very unfair. Giving 3 star because of the high price l, quality of the food and the delays in getting the food.

Christine D.

Yelp
I visted Basile Italian Restaurant in Boston last night for the first, and the last time. I had high hopes as the dining room was elegant and warm. We waited patiently for 45 minutes for our order to be taken. Someone came to our table at one point to ask if we would like sparkling or still water, but brought neither! The bread basket had four very thin pieces of white "grocery store" slices of bread, and not the "authentic" cuisine we had expected for the price. We ended up ordering soup and pasta with cocktails. Strangely, the pasta came "first." But as it turns out, the server had forgeotten about our soup entirely so we re-ordered it again after eating the main meal. It was our 20th anniversary so we made the best of the situation. (The restaurant staff knew it was our anniversary). I left a nice tip because I know servers depend on these -- -- and not because the service or the food was truly good. We know how lucky we are to be able to dine out, and I am only posting this review to advise others that Basile in Boston may not be a good venue, especially for a special occasion.

Jamie J.

Yelp
This could have been a great restaurant experience. However, it turned out to be one of the worst ones. I ordered an appetizer sampler as my dinner, and my plate sat out for a while before it was brought to me. The cold food was fine, but the hot food was cold. No one came around to check on us to see how our food was. We had to stop one of the staff to get our server. When he came and told him that my rice ball and calamari were cold, he told me he would take care of them. Then, he came back to tell us he would bring me a new plate, which didn't come even when my BF finished his dinner, and he purposely took a long time to eat, about 20 minutes. I had to stop another person to get our server. When he came by, I told him I didn't want my food anymore. He said it was almost done. It was not done after 20 minutes. But it was done so quickly previously that my food stayed out until the other dinner was being made. We ran out of the Sparkling water we had ordered, but no one cared to ask if we wanted another bottle. *** The restaurant was not busy. The wait staffs were standing around at the time.*** We ordered Sorbet for dessert, which took longer than 10 minutes. Then, I got an email from OpenTable that the restaurant had canceled my reservation. I brought that to the host and manager, and they both said it's not an issue. When I got my bill, it included my canceled dinner, which they took it back. When I complained, I was told it was not their fault. The manager went around and asked questions, and then the server returned and told us he would take the Sorbet off the check which I was not complaining about. Any decent restaurant would have taken the dinner off the check and comped the dessert, at least the dinner, without a hassle. I WOULD NOT! NOT! NOT! recommend this restaurant to anyone. They ruined our Christmas Eve dinner.

Doug S.

Yelp
The place inside was gorgeous. The decorations were some of the best I have seen in Italian restaurants. Our appetizer was calamari that had a nice presentation, but were the toughest I have ever tasted. We never had anyone ask us how we liked the this dish or any other dish until we finished dinner. The next two dishes were great: pasta Bella mare and shrimp carbonara. The seafood was tender and the home made pasta was unique in its thickness but so delicious. One dish would have been enough to share.

Sydney M.

Yelp
Excellent service! Food was brought to us in a timely manner! Food quality/drinks were excellent, you can't go wrong on anything from the menu!

Sarah P.

Yelp
This is the best restaurant I've been to in a long time and one of the best Italian spots in Boston!!! The masala ravioli was a really great combination of Indian and Italian spice flavors, fresh, and the perfect portion!! The service and and ambiance were also on point I can't wait to go back to try more dishes!

Opare D.

Yelp
A friend recommended this and it was great. Nice service from bartender (from Brazil). I had the burrata and the pasta Bella mare which i thoroughly enjoyed and he recommended. It's unique and so good I ate it room temp later that night in my hotel room. I'm an olive fan so i loved that briney flavor from the olives in the pasta Bella mare, so if you don't like olives tell them to leave them out. Still giving 5 stars even though the hostess was not professional and didn't make me feel welcome. It was about 45 min before closing but still. She seemed distracted or something from her phone. I would give her 1 star if I could rate separately.

Brendan T.

Yelp
Way to expensive for what you get. You're paying 5 star prices for a 2 star restaurant. We got 1 cranberry vodka, 1 high noon, Antipasti appetizer, Bolognese, and chicken piccata and it cost us $145. The appetizer comes with 1 tiny arancini, arugula salad, tomato mozzarella, and calamari. There were only 8 calamari rings and 20 peppers and they were out of arugula, so we replaced it with an extra Arancini. My mixed drink I ordered was a cranberry vodka with a lime and for whatever reason they put soda water in it which i hate. My Bolognese was mediocre at best. Definitely not worth the $36 price tag. Also the piccata was under seasoned and bland not meeting up to its $42 price tag. As far as the portions go, they were huge, which is something you i never see at fine dining establishments. As far as the restaurant its self goes absolutely stunning, great environment, gorgeous decor, wonderful staff, just terrible food and its way overpriced. If I paid 70 bucks for that meal would've been happy. I didn't take any pictures aside from the appetizer but you can see what i mean about the calamari.

Holly K.

Yelp
I'm actually quite surprised at how many 5 star reviews this restaurant has- I went for Valentine's Day dinner last night, with their price fixe menu, and was NOT impressed. Service started out ok, but disappeared halfway through the meal. Won't hold it against them since it's a busy holiday. The food however, was not good. With the price fixe menu, you could choose your appetizer and main entree, and then you received a glass of champagne and dessert. I ordered the pomodoro mozzarella burrata for my appetizer- and it was enough to feed a Barbie. It was literally ONE bite of burrata on top of a mini tomato. For my entree I ordered the heart shaped ravioli- which is not on their main menu normally (a GOOD thing). Again, extremely small portion. 3 ravioli, under-seasoned, and stuffed with some shredded lobster. The 2 small pieces of lobster claw in the middle of the plate was over-cooked and rubbery. Dessert was a cannoli and tiramisu- both tasted average. For the price they charged for the price fixe menu (VERY expensive) and the small portions, and the mediocre flavor of every single dish, I would not return here.

Bhamidipati M.

Yelp
The restaurant is in a fine location in Boston with good selection of unique Italian dishes. Most of their vegetarian items tasted pretty good and the masala ravioli was finger licking good! They maintained the same hype for the desserts and did not disappoint. The only reason for a 4 start is the price point for the items. Some of the apps very even too small to share. Other than that, I think it was a pretty good experience. Ps: I went to this restaurant with my Niece and Nephew and they had no items for kids not something to drink. Please note that this restaurant is not kid friendly! I recommend this place!

Cris M.

Yelp
The food is good, but the service is really phenomenal. Christine at the bar, was the most thoughtful, friendly, accommodating server! I couldn't make a decision on wine- she suggested the wine flight- and it was the perfect solution. I had the butternut squash ravioli- it tasted very fresh. Huge ravioli with pistachios, oil and squash garnish. I feel a lot of people would really enjoy it, it just wasn't my jam that day. I then had the watermelon, cucumber, feta salad which was dope. Watermelon and feta just melted in my mouth. I met two people next to me who were really going hard- nice bottle of wine, in a gorgeous decanter. They devoured primi and secondi. And having chatted with them, they were both super satisfied. So, even though I had a little mismatch on food, I'm still giving 5 stars.

Sandra N.

Yelp
Wow, I was super impressed at BASILE! My family and I came here on a Friday night, reservations were made online through OpenTable. They usually have valet parking, but it was suspended due to COVID-19. They plan on resuming valet starting end of April 2022. Since the mask mandate for indoor areas was lifted, only a couple of the staff members continued to wear face masks. We were seated by the window, but they have plenty of outdoor seating as well! I would definitely want to come back and try that atmosphere when it's warmer out. Our waiter was Sergio and he was awesome! Super patient, had personality and recommended us some great options from the menu. We started off with a bottle of wine and I had the espresso martini. They had a pretty large selection of drinks, and the bartender could try and make something that was off menu. We got the pan seared scallops (*MUST TRY), and the appetizer sampler. The sampler was recommend if you wanted to try a little of everything on the appetizer menu, but the portions do come a bit smaller. For entrees, we got- -- Pasta Bella Mare- peppardelle pasta with seafood medley, tossed in a pesto sauce. Recommended if you're looking for a creamy pasta with a taste of the sea -- BASILE Cioppino- essentially a big bowl of seafood stewed in a white wine, lemony broth -- BASILE Swordfish- (Recommended by Sergio) nice a flaky swordfish, served with wild rice, risotto and spinach *loved this dish For dessert, we ended with the Crème Brûlée, and a variety of Gelato Ice Cream. Sergio recommended the Last Supper drinks as well- it was delicious! Service was great, our waiter was awesome, and food was delicious. I couldn't ask for anything more!

Morgan H.

Yelp
Made last minute dinner reservations on a Friday night and the place was fairly full, but not to the point where it was crammed and packed. I ordered the golden apricot to start my dinner off with a drink and I loved the creaminess of it. I also ordered the Basile Special spiced Margarita and it was good but not as good as the apricot. For dinner, I opted for the pasta Bella Mare and really enjoyed my dish. Creamy, full of seafood, with the pasta cooked Al dente. Service was quick and I overall really enjoyed my dinner here.

Lou P.

Yelp
Besides the food be outstanding, a HUGE SHOUTOUT and kuddos goes to our server Alejandro. He was the ONLY WAITER in the entire restaurant. Everyone had called out. He handled the entire restaurant ( with the help of his food runners and hostess ) all night without fail. He apologized every time he came to the table ( mind you, we did not wait long for anything and the service was spot on). As for the food, get the cioppino !! It's huge and was amazing. This is not your typical tourist area restaurant. This place is a gem and Alejandro and his crew made it all the better! A definite must if you want to get away from the tourist areas for great LOCAL food.

Emily A.

Yelp
Great food and amazing service!!! Wasn't too busy on a Saturday night and we sat outside on their patio.

Christine W.

Yelp
Basile has been on my list of places to try for a while now. In the summer, there is outdoor seating which looked nice. I went to Basile for dine out Boston with a friend on Friday night, and the restaurant wasn't too busy. The restaurant was somewhat dark, which set a nice calming mood. It wasn't very loud either even though the kitchen was somewhat open. My friend and I were seated quickly and the service was stellar! My water was always refilled and the servers checked in from time to time. As for food, I got the arancini, pollo piccata, and the tiramisu. The arancini was pretty light and had a good flavor. I just had one arancini in my dish which was good for an app. I LOVED my pollo piccata. The chicken was thin and had a nice crunch to it. The pasta was also seasoned well. Lastly, the dessert was very rich. The tiramisu was more on the creamy side, but be careful with eating the Tiramisu - there is a lot of cocoa powder on top and if you inhale when you're taking a bite, it can cause you to choke a little with the powder going everywhere. Overall, this was a cute place to have dinner!

Yelp
Last night I celebrated my birthday there. We went at 8 pm given that we had a 10 pm show. Server did not bring drinks until 8:30 and, given that we saw how slow things were coming, we decided to put in a charcuterie board with our order and made the server aware of our plans. The charcuterie board never arrived and our food got there at 9:30 pm. We had to rush our eating. The food was ok, but nothing espectacular. When the time for the check came, gratuity had been included for a party of 5 and so was the charcuterie board. Even more so, the waitress didn't really make my party aware that tipping was included so they almost tipped twice. All and all, a really bad experience. Thanks for not letting me enjoy fully my birthday.

Tom H.

Yelp
We ordered a chicken dish for myself and their appetizer sampler as a dinner for my girlfriend. The appetizer was ready first but sat in the kitchen getting cold until my fiber was ready. No one came to check on us even though the restaurant was only 1/4 full. When the food arrived my girlfriend complained about the cold food. They offered to replace it but 20 minutes later I was done and her app wasn't ready. No one checked on us meantime. We canceled the app. They only comped us a dessert, not the price of her meal.

Reshma K.

Yelp
We had a nice time dining here today. We made reservations online. Strangely we were 45mins early, and they were able to accommodate us! First impression, the decor is lovely and the ambiance is relaxing. The music was soothing and I enjoyed it. We were hoping to try out the dine out Boston menu but we were told that's not an option for Saturday. I was pretty bummed by this, perhaps I missed this fine print on the dine out Boston website. Anyhow, we ordered our favorite, calamari and scallops for our appetizers. Scallops were well cooked and delightful. The calamari was awesome, however the dipping sauce it came with was salty. We ignored the sauce and enjoyed the calamari as-is! The bread for the table was amazingly good. Soft, warm and dipping oil was delicious. For our main meal, we ordered halibut with quinoa with cherry tomatoes, onions and cilantro and cod that came with roasted carrots, Brussel sprouts. The halibut was nicely cooked but it lacked seasoning. Cherry tomatoes, cilantro were negligible, I may have found 1 cherry tomato. With some freshly ground pepper, I enjoyed my halibut but would have loved some more tomatoes and cilantro. Cod had a great char but was over cooked. the veggies were good. For the price, these things are a little hard to overlook. And the check includes 20% gratuity!

Yelp
AVOID AT ALL COST Went for Valentine's, they charged 200$ per couple for a 4 course menu. - We had a reservation at 6pm but waited 30 minutes at the front cause there was someone already at our table, but there was 6 other empty tables the entire time we were waiting. They said we couldn't sit at one of them because they didn't want to ruin their system. 10 couples probably came after and got to sit down before us. - Manager didn't apologize or offer anything to compensate. He said we could eat at the bar or leave. We didn't think we could find another place on Valentine's so we stuck it out - The pasta we got was barely warm and even cold in some parts. We asked for a new heated one but they just microwaved it and gave it back - For 200$ you expect to get your own appetizer but it was 1 shared between the two. I assume the dessert was the same, but I wouldn't know since we left Worst experience ever, not even the whole story, wouldn't pay any amount to have that experience again.

Tom F.

Yelp
Meh. Very mid. For the $$$, I won't be going back. Food was ok, not outstanding. Servers were nice but clueless and slow. Cocktail was made improperly I had to have them fix it.

Nicole R.

Yelp
Short story, the food was underwhelming and the service was slow despite the fact that the restaurant was practically empty. Not worth the price. Note that an automatic 20% tip is added to tables if 4 or more (it is not very clearly noted on the menu and surprised us when the bill came). Long story: This was a frustrating visit. Right off the bat the server wasn't very knowledgeable about the beers listed on the menu and had to run to the bar a couple times to find out what they actually had available. Our first round of cocktails took quite a while to arrive despite the fact that there were only a couple other tables in the restaurant. The appetizer platter was ok, however the fried calamari was more peppers than calamari. After we finished the appetizers we sat for a while before finally flagging our server down and asking if we could order our meals and more cocktails. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, however a few of our meals were lukewarm. The pasta did appear to be homemade, but did not have much flavor; no one in our group was particularly impressed with their meal. Again we sat unattended for a while before asking for the bill, which we waited for. In total we were there for 2.5 hours. Considering the price we expected a higher quality of service and food, very disappointing.

Patricia R.

Yelp
I definitely have to say that this is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Boston this far. It is absolutely exquisite as a fine dining Italian Restaurant. The general manager of Sergio is very knowledgeable about the wine selection which came in handy with what we chose to eat. He treated us like complete royalty and honestly I have to say it was an absolutely amazing experience overall. Eva who is a server there treated us absolutely amazing as well even though we were very late to our reservation they still made accommodations for us and the food was absolutely exquisite. If you're in the Boston area it is a absolute must go to and try restaurant you will not be disappointed.

Shaun K.

Yelp
The food was not good. The service was sub par. My girlfriend and I tried this location during dine out Boston. The meal started with two small sad pieces on bread. When you go to an Italian restaurant you expect nice bread with it. They were tiny and we only got two small slices. We would have asked for more but the waiter was not very present even though the place was nearly empty. For apps, we got the burrata and arancini. The burrata was good but I had no bread to enjoy with it. The arancini was the smallest arancini I've ever seen. For our meals we ordered the cioppino and duck. The cioppino broth was very salty and the gritty. I wasn't sure if it was sand or shell dust from the seafood. The mussels were not fresh based on the texture. They were almost pasty. The duck tasted like it was not seasoned and just served how it was. It came with greens which were overcooked. For desert we got tiramisu and the sorbet. The tiramisu did not taste like a traditional tiramisu. It came in a cup and the ladyfinger cake was almost nonexistent and did not taste like coffee/espresso. The sorbet was Richie's Italian ice. Seriously I thought I was at a concession stand eating a slushy. The consistency was not right. The restaurant itself felt a little dated but was clean. I do not recommend.

Rob S.

Yelp
Nice classic/classy Italian Restaurant with an amazing menu. Fresh Pasta and slow cooked sauces make any choice a winner. Go with the steak bolognese anyway! Marisol and Christine at the bar were welcoming, knowledgeable about the menu, and enthusiastic about every dish that they offered. Waiters were attentive and helpful. Great place to bring a dinner party or work party. Or pop in by yourself and sit at the bar to get served. Don't leave without trying the homemade biscotti.

Ann E.

Yelp
Food is delicious but service leaves much to be desired and kitchen is incredibly slow. No Management seemed to recognize the delays and people waiting 45 min for salad, entree, dessert or even coffee . I hope the figure it out but no not recommend at this time

Willie R.

Yelp
I made a reservation here on a whim one evening. I walked in (the front door sticks, so I thought they were closed for a second) and noted the nice vibe and well-appointed tables. I noticed them in part, though, because I was literally the only guest in the restaurant the entire time I was there. I was seated at the bar, which is usually my preference if I'm dining solo. The server/bartender came over to take my order. I asked a question or two about the menu, and I think the gentleman may have been new as he didn't seem super familiar with the dishes. The house bread was good, although butter tasted a bit strange every other bite or so. As an appetizer, the vegetable minestrone soup was fine. It got more flavorful toward the end. I had the recommended bolognese with lamb, which was OK for me but nothing exciting. I would give it a 3 out of 5. I will say the bartender had a quite generous pour with the wine, and they had quite a nice wine list! On the whole, Basile was middle of the road for me.

Yelp
Where do I start running late to our reservation due to getting lost in the city. We get to the restaurant and almost aren't able to sit because of the kitchen closing and then Sergio came to the rescue. He understood our situation being from out of town and sat us and we were able to order and enjoy. The ambiance table setting plate setting wine selection and food section were all amazing. A wonderful place for parties events eating alone and having a romantic dinner. The staff is more than helpful and enjoy and enjoy helping you with your dining experience. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone that would like some fine Italian dining with an authentic feel.

Yelp
I has high hopes for this restaurant when we arrived with a reservation. The service was very slow - our drink order was not taken till 20 minutes after we sat down. Ou or entrees arrived nearly 2 hour after we first sat down. The waiter was unwilling to make any changes to anyone's dishes. Although they defined themselves as fine dining, I don't believe they had the sufficient staff to provide fine dining service . Unfortunately, I think they are not prepared for a full restaurant of diners. No one on our group was impressed by their food. While one or two appetizers were pleasing, no rave reviews.

Yelp
Food was alright, they claimed the best bolognese in Boston (definitely not true) and had some decent bread. The service was downright atrocious and the reason for my low rating. My table did not have water for over half of the dinner and we asked our waiter, Alejandro, for bread on three occasions. After the third ask, he finally brought some out after saying "I will get it to you right away" for each instance. He also brought me a bud light in place of an IPA, just terrible service overall.

Yelp
Exquisite food! You won't be disappointed. The ravioli is so smooth and delicious! This moscato wine and the apple dessert were amazing! Joe, our server whom we call the boss, gives the best service with such professionalism and friendliness. He owns the floor, taking care of every patron. Ask for Joe and enjoy some moscato while waiting for your delicious food all while enjoying great music and a romantic environment! Thank you Basile for helping us celebrating our anniversary!

Yelp
Went for restaurant week and was disappointed. While ok, each of my groups meals fell short on flavor (the pollo piccata wayy too lemony, the salmon lacked flavor and the bolognese was the best of the three). The arancini appetizer was good but they serve it with fresh diced tomatoes instead of a marinara which left it lacking flavor also. Even the bread they served at the beginning was not great compared to other restaurant bread I've had. The drinks were strong and unique. Tiramisu dessert was good also. It is nice inside and they have a small patio for outdoor dining. Overall, I expected more coming here since it has such a good reputation but maybe that was back in its prime? Wouldn't return again especially since regular prices are a bit higher.

Yelp
I rarely give a restaurant one star but Basile really disappointed me. My bf made a reservation for Valentine's Day for 6PM. We arrived at 5:55PM and let the host know we have a reservation. They told us to wait because the table that is "supposedly" for us is still occupied. We did not think anything of it and waited. Half an hour goes by and we noticed people coming in after us immediately got their table. We asked the host again when they would expect for us to get our table. The host got the manager and the manager repeated what we heard before that our table was still used. So, we asked if we could have a different table because there were multiple empty tables (roughly 2/3 of the room was empty). The manager said no because those were "occupied." The manager gave us a lot of attitude and said we were "welcome to leave if we wanted." Since we made the reservation for Valentine's Day and thought that other places would be full by then, we decided to wait it out and 45 minutes later, we were seated. The appetizers were decent, small but edible. My entrée was some pasta dish and it was cold. I notified the waiter and she nicely took it back to the kitchen. One minute later, she came back with the same pasta plate, but microwaved. I was appalled by this. The reservation was roughly $200 for two people. It was not cheap and the service and quality of the food was just uncalled for. I really did not expect a high end restaurant to function like this. My pasta dish was not edible and I could make a better dish at home than this. Did anyone else have this experience or was it just an unlucky day for me?

Yelp
We came here during Restaurant Week and tried out their special dine out menu. For appetizers, we tried the Minestrone di Verdure, Arugula Salad, Pomodoro Mozzarella Burrata, Arancini and their calamari. For our main dishes, we ordered the Gnocchi alla Fungi, Rigatoni Bolognese, and Pollo Piccata. Lastly, we ended our meal with tiramisu and cannoli. The Dijon-Mustard Vinaigrette in the arugula salad was pretty good and my sister enjoyed it despite the bitterness of arugula. The calamari were light but lacked flavor overall. The arancini was really crispy, but I enjoyed the diced tomatoes that came with it more. I felt like the gnocchi lacked flavoring overall while my companions felt like their rigatoni pasta could be cooked a little longer. The chicken in the pollo piccata was moist and flavorful so that was probably the best dish out of the three we chose but overall not impressive. The highlight of our meals was the desserts. The tiramisu was the best I ever had; it was light, flavorful, and had just about the right amount of sweetness. Despite the fruits on the tiramisu being a bit sour, I really enjoyed the dessert. Overall, the meal ended on a good note, but I would not come back for the food.

Yelp
The food was absolutely outstanding. I had a divine lobster risotto and my husband had the squash ravioli. Drinks were creative and tasty. And the service was so wonderful--we unfortunately were pressed for time and they were able to accommodate our necessary speed. Thanks!

Yelp
What a find! Last minute dinner for 4 on a Friday night after a L O N G day of travel. Wine, pasta, and attentive service by Alejandro, added up to a lovely evening! The Bella Mara, Crab Ravioli, and the Shrimp Carbonara were all OUTSTANDING! Wonderful ambiance without being too pretentious...

Yelp
Please be aware - I come from the service industry and always leave a gracious gratuity. I had a wonderful dinner at Basile. However, when I got my Amex bill today and couldn't figure out why it was a lot more than I thought we spent that I figured it out... when I looked into it, they added the tip automatically (which is fine) if the server lets you know but we were not told at at all!!! please be aware if you go here because they don't tell you that's their policy and you can ended getting screwed. Like we did I left an additional 25-30% tip. That's not right / I feel ripped off. That's what I get for trusting in the server- NOT GOOD business

Yelp
Do yourself a favor SKIP. Horrible service, over priced and dry, flavorless food. I had to add cheese to Cacio de Pepe!!! I imagine the Olive Garden would be better!

Yelp
Another lovely meal at Basil. We made reservations for a Monday night (it was a pretty busy summer day in the Back Bay) but we were the only ones there, for the entire meal. 5 minutes away the restaurants were packed. People - you must look for this restaurant, it's EXCELLENT. The room is lovely, manages to feel open (high ceilings) and cozy at the same time. The service was great, attentive but not too much. And the food is delicious - we started with the arancini, Hubby had the bolognese, the rigatoni was perfect al dente and the sauce was very tasty. I had the arugula salad, very fresh. We have been here several times, excellent every time. Definitely worth going a little off the beaten path, but really just a 5 minute walk from the Copley Westin.

Yelp
If you need last minute reservation on a Friday night for good Italian food, this is the one. Went with a bunch of friends and we were pleasantly surprised. Cocktails and apps were amazing, entrees were good, dessert was delicious. Calamari - perfectly cooked (4/5) Scallops - oh sooo good. Definitely one of the best scallops dishes I have ever had. (5/5) Indian masala ravioli - this was unique and delicious! (4/5) Bolognese - their #1 dish, and I couldn't agree more. Cooked perfectly. (5/5) Salmon - wasnt great. The Salmon was not cooked as well. I'd probably rate this dish a 3/5. Creme Brulee - soft, creamy and not overly sweet. Definitely a 5/5 Apple crostada wasn't bad so I'd give it a 4/5. Didn't get to try the warm chocolate souffle coz the server got the order wrong (and it takes 20 mins to bake) but it sounded really good.

Yelp
We arrived early by city folk standards to celebrate a birthday and were promptly seated, table decorated for the occasion with fun confetti. The open space was deceptively intimate thanks to the lighting and long, sheer curtains that set the inner dining area apart from the tables in the periphery. Our server, Alejandro, was very attentive and pleasant. The food was comforting and delicious, although we were hoping for some more authentic crusty bread rather than the soft rolls we were served. The house red wine was perfect. The apple crostini dessert was worth the wait. We'll visit again, for sure.

Yelp
Excellent food, excellent service, beautiful space. Highly recommend. And a special shout-out to their bartender, David. A real pro who creates a most welcoming atmosphere at the bar while crafting a perfect Martini (or two/three ). Great place.

Yelp
We made reservation for early dinner, we were greeted with a warm welcoming smile as soon as we entered. It was quite large and spacious, with a full bar and kitchen that you can see into. Within a half hour or so, it got more lively with customers kept coming in, a good sign of its popularity. We ordered a bunch of antipasti to share. Arancini con Spec, Gnocchi agli Funghi, Indian Fusion Masala Ravioli, and Calamari. The Masala Ravioli was super interesting and amazing! We were happy with all the appetizers. For main, two of us ordered Seasonal Fish. On this day, it was Grilled Swordfish. The fish was a bit too "peppery" which was unfortunate, but otherwise, it was nice. They should go a bit lighter on the pepper... The other two went with Beef Tenderloin. It was super tender, juicy, and quite amazing. All the sides were great too. Very flavorful. We see the reason why this dish is so popular! Feeling all good with everything we have ordered so far, we decided to try their desserts too! We ordered Dessert Tasting It was a great choice, and the perfect ending to our pleasant dinner. We had a nice dinner here, with friendly service, tasty dishes, and sweet ending. The swordfish was not as excellent as we wanted it to be, but other than that, we were happy with all the dishes! We especially enjoyed Masala Ravioli, unique, creative and super delicious!
