The food is fresh, the atmosphere is small and intimate and the service is impeccable! Even though it was our first visit, it felt comfortable and familiar. The owner, who was so kind and easy to speak with, came over quite a few times to our table to make recommendations, give some background on the dishes and spoke about his time in Italy. The martinis were fabulous! This is a wonderful place for a date night or with a group of friends! It's authentic Italian food that I plan to show off to out of town family!!

Came here on a Sunday afternoon. Place was packed, they got plus a table for two and treated us like family. Delicious food, based on the manager’s recommendation. Definitely will return when in the area.

Had lunch with my family on New Year’s Day. There were very accommodating to my 8yr old niece, she actually ate all her food which alone is an everyday task… Our waiter Giuseppe was on point and offered a bit of old school Italian flair. Everything we ate from the fritto misto to the pasta dishes were so flavorful and the pastas were cooked perfectly. The dining room was certainly nothing spectacular but we didn’t come to stare at the walls we came to eat the food. I certainly would love to go back as soon as I can. I strongly recommend you give it a try.

I was taken back 30 years, as long as my memory allowed, back to an old school Italian restaurant with mouthwatering traditional food and a friendly, attentive waiter. Dessert was delicious! Next time I'm taking my friends there with me. It's located at the end of a dead end little street. There is a sign on the Lily pond road. The red roof house is on the next corner towards the bridge.

A true hidden gem on Staten Island! It’s been a Staten Island staple for over 100 years and this past weekend was my first visit to the Basilio Inn and it won’t be my last. From their amazing apps to entrees to skillfully prepared desserts you will love this restaurant. Go and enjoy and be prepared to be taken back in time with some true incredible Italian food! If you can eat outdoors under there outdoor grape view you will immediately be taken back to Italy! Enjoy!

I can't believe Basilio Inn has always been right under my nose. While this restaurant is literally a small house, it's still hidden away. Yet, this adds to its appeal. My boyfriend took me on a date here once and we enjoyed it so much that we come back for special occasions. The pork chop parmigiana and Pappardelle with veal ragu are the top meals that we reminisce about. The whole experience is also pleasantly old-fashioned. The tables are all lined with table cloth, complimentary bread is served before each meal, and just indulging in a meal here feels very sophisticated. I've also been heard a rumor that the owner closes the establishment every winter to visit his home in Italy and generally comes back with a new unique recipe!

This is such an amazing hidden gem on the island. There is so much tradition here and I love all the decorations inside. The food here is always so well done, I love to try the new recipes they have every season. The service is also absolutely immaculate, this has got to be my favorite spot on the island for a more upscale dinner

Celebrated my friend's belated birthday and I couldn't be any happier or stuffed! We went during a weekday evening, very quiet. I had the birthday celebrant choose all of the dishes and we shared them - probably ordered a little more than we should have. My favorite was the calamari because it included crispy zucchini and sweet potato chips. It was fried pretty well For entrees, we had the fig and roasted duck and the shrimp risotto. The figs were pan sauteed and a nice compliment to the duck. The risotto was very cheesy and had a good thick consistency.

Loved everything about this restaurant, felt like stepping back in time! Delicious pasta and wonderful service, they were very attentive. Some of the best Tiramisu I've ever eaten.

honestly i was looking for a good enough spot to eat near the beach close by. and wow what a find! best italian food i had in a while and the tiramisu was the best ive had in 10 years or perhaps longer!! the prices are amazing and fair considering the era we are currently living in where all restaurants want to charge High end Steakhouse prices! thank you for understanding that Italian food should be friendly and affordable! i commend the owner for this. i will be back to try just about everything off the menu.

Little piece of Italy in Staten Island. It really feels like you are in an Italian restaurant in Naples! Simple and acquainted ambiance with great service. Pastas are homemade and delicious. Love to see the owner walking around and talking with everyone - - - such a nice guy. Price is right but the portions could be a little bigger because I wanted mooooore!

We hosted my father's 70th bday here and it didn't disappoint. It's an Old school Italian restaurant. Everything is delicious. We ordered a ton of apps. The clams, riceballs, and Burrata were great. I really enjoyed the pork parmigiana. A lot of people ordered the pasta dishes and they loved them. Service was great too.

Visited November 2024 while in the city for the marathon. Excellent food, excellent service. My daughter was in Italy this past summer and she felt like she was there again, almost.

Basilio Inn has been a "Go-To" great location for USCG at Ft Wadsworth for years. Mauricio always great to work with for planning large groups, food is fantastic and wait staff professionals. Inside this historic location makes you feel very comfortable.

We came with friends for a nice meal and wasn't disappointed. The owner greeted us , sat and had a pleasant conversation with us . He's very nice . We started with some sangria which we usually get when we eat out followed by zucchini flowers and some barratta with zucchini for appetizers. Me and the wife had the Basa which is a white fish with polenta in a garlic sauce which was awesome. Didn't have desert as we were stuffed. Wait staff was great and recommend giving this a try. Been around for over 100 years apparently.

A nice experience. We went there with another couple. Pulled up to ample parking in this historic house that is Basilio. We ordered wine by the glass and a bourbon on the rocks. Service was spot on, friendly but not intrusive. Dishes that were ordered included shrimp with brandy sauce with risotto, linguine and seafood in a white wine sauce, branzini and parpadelle with veal ragu. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Dessert an apple tart which was decent. True rating is 4 1/2 stars

Stopped into Basilio 's Inn tonight based on the high recommendations of others. We came in with some high expectations due to the long standing history of the restaurant. We started off with stuffed mushrooms and fried anchovies, then moved to the main course which we ordered spaghetti alla chitarra, gnocchi shrimps with cherry tomatoes, and bucatini amatriciana, and finished with Tiramisu, apple tart, and flan. Lets start at the beginning with the apps. The mushrooms were too small for the amount of filling that seemed to be mostly breadcrumbs. The fried anchovies won this round overall. The gnocchi with shrimps and cherry tomatoes was lacking flavor and the gnocchi weren't all completely cooked. Wtih the bucatini amatriciana the pasta was perfectly al dente but the dish was lacking garlic and flavor. The best main we has was the spaghetti alla chitarra which wasn't meeting the high expectations. The desert was the star of the meal and would say this was the overall only reason we would stop back in on another trip. The service was really slow and we had to ask for bread once the main course came to the table. Seemed like for the amount of space there was only 1 server and another that was helping bring out dishes and buss tables.

The food was amazing - very authentic and fresh Italian food. The workers were very nice and attentive. The restaurant itself is a classic old style Italian restaurant feel. Perfect!

Been wanting to try this place for a while abd finally went today. Service is excellent and food is on point. Buratta/ Zuchinni app is insane and duck with fig was outstanding although a little small and over cooked it was still delicious. Wanna go back and try some other dishes. Owner Maurizio came to table and was very gracious.

The food was horrible. The service lacked any personality. It seemed like it was just a factory of people because of it's 103 years old. Business I never thought that this place will ever be as low as it's been and it's 103 years of business And I've been going there almost 20 years. Never any of appreciation been for a steady customer no concerned about there cheap and forgetfulness of their customers. stuffed mushrooms stuff with bread /Veal served in a cheap water sauce with a dish of side, cabbage, and cheap boil potatoes and you call this a restaurant 103 years old I would be embarrassed. Dining at your own risk good luck .

A friend and I were birding in Elizabeth when we received a text, a very rare bird had been spotted on Staten Island. We abandoned what we were doing and headed to the Mount Loretto Unique Area where we joined dozens of folks looking at a Tropical Kingbird. The bird, took a wrong turn in migration and instead of resting comfortably in Mexico, wound up in Staten Island. Having seen the bird, we gave substantial thought to a celebratory late lunch, early dinner. A friend recommended that we come here. We're so glad he did! We sat in an outdoor courtyard and talked and ate and drank and all was right with the world. Some fried zucchini to start off. Very well fried and a good marinara sauce. For mains, my friend had duck and figs, the figs coming from their own tree. How cool is that? I had shrimp in a brandy sauce. Everything was really delicious. We both left stuffed with big smiles on our faces. Looking forward to my next visit.

One of the best Italian meals I ever had. The food was so good. This is a great restaurant for a date or celebration. If you are on Staten Island and in the mood for authentic yummy Italian food this is the place to check to out.

The food served was incredible. Starting with the bread, to the pasta and the dessert to end it all. Everything was on point! Our waiter was also great and very attentive.

The best meal I've had in Staten Island so far (and I've spent this past month really making my way through its restaurants). To start off with, the restaurant has a nice, quiet, almost rustic charm to it. I was seated along the front of the building, nowhere near anyone else, which in the time of COVID was just how I liked it. This was actually my first time eating at a restaurant instead of just ordering take out since the pandemic began, and I gotta say, I'm pretty damn happy with my choice. Based on prior reviews, I was pretty set on going with either the pappardelle with goat cheese or the spaghetti with tomatoes and smoked mozzarella. Two separate staff members recommended the spaghetti so ended up ordering that one. Let me tell you, I'm normally not one for vegetarian dishes but this one was fantastic. Fresh, simple ingredients, incredible sauce-- I had pretty high expectations going in and this dish managed to exceed them. For dessert, decided to go with something I haven't tried before and ordered the millefoglie, which was delicate and went really well with my coffee. I saw some other reviews mentioned issues with getting their food in a timely manner-- mine came out in like 10 min? Would recommend going early (before 6) or making a reservation as seating is pretty limited. It's a shame I'm leaving SI tomorrow-- would have liked to come back to try the pappardelle.

This meal was just okay, but maybe my expectations were wrong. What I was expecting: old school, red sauce joint. Huge portions, crispy veal parm and chicken smothered in cheese and red sauce, side of spaghetti topped with more cheese and you guessed it- red sauce, large portions, free flowing wine. What we got: Small portions, no traditional red sauce dishes, no sides of pasta (just potato and cabbage, sort of weird) and poor service which resulted in a heavy lack of free flowing wine. We started off with a burrata appetizer. The burrata was extremely rich and full of flavor, but the portion was skimpy. For my main I ordered the house veal (veal basilo) which was advertised as being topped with prosciutto and mozzarella. The veal cutlets were small and thin and there was a very teeny amount of mozzarella. But, the biggest let down was the miniature piece of prosciutto that came on top of the meat. A side of pasta would have been nice and the plan potatoes and cabbage did not really compliment the meal. The star of the show was my fiance's pasta which came with a generous portion of homemade pasta and was topped with spinach, a tomato cream sauce and fresh mozzarella. I also tried some of my sister's pasta carbonera and this was delicious. So are there some things I would come back for? Yes. The homemade pasta is tasty and the interior is cute and cozy. This is the oldest restaurant on Staten Island and the space has some really nice charm and character. But, if I am going to go out for old school Italian food I'd really love to find a place with that will serve me a generous portion of a classic red sauce dish. It's weird to leave an Italian restaurant feeling a bit hungry. I also wish that the service was more attentive. We were able to order wine right when we sat down, but other then that did not have the chance to order again with a server until the end of the meal when it was too late. 2.5 stars, rounding up to 3.

I used to go here fairly often but I moved to LA over 10 years ago. I came back to the island and ate here and the food was just as delicious, if not better, than it was in the past. One of the best restaurants in Staten Island.

This little gem is in the cut. After a day at the beach, a friend recommended we stop in for some el dente Italian food. It looks a home turned into a restaurant, but cozy. We you walk up you already know you're in for an experience. Waiters are dressed in white button downs & polite. We ordered merlot & my daughter had a white wine. Next, I ordered ravioli bolognese & my friend had the linguini with fresh tomatoes & shrimp. We cleaned our plates. Needless to say, I'll be back. Looking forward to the risotto! Come visit for a real Italian meal!

By far the best meal I ate while on Staten Island visiting family. This restaurant is 100 years old! The food is old school Italian & very good. I had the Branzino & my dad had the duck with figs. Both dishes were excellent! Don't forget to order dessert too! Yum! If you're looking for solid Italian food & a nice, quiet atmosphere, look no further! Prices are reasonable here too.

With all due respect definitely overrated. The food was OK nothing super impressive nothing extremely authentic. I had the bolognese it was somewhat dry and a bit gamey. The service was a bit pushy we had kids with us and we could tell they were unwelcomed we didn't feel like our business was needed. The atmosphere was nice, I really wanted to love this place, however, I don't think we'll be back anytime soon with a $200 bill for average Italian food.

Supposedly the oldest restaurant building in SI and it looks and feels like it. The restaurant sits in the end of ta dead end street a little away from the main road. The dinning area is a gutted out room. A little confusing on the entrance to the place. The main entrance is the back door of the building with outdoor sittings. The front entrance is the service area that connected to another dinning area that was not open when we were there. Lots of home made items are listed on the menu. Couldn't order all of them but the one we ordered tasted homemade . The service was a little slow but friendly. Would revisit and recommend this place to friends

We dined here for Father's day with my dad. We were seated right away for our 1:00 reservation. Our table had a cute reserved sign on it. Food was outstanding and the servers were attentive but not overbearing. They were all personable as was the owner, Maurice.. Our water glasses were filled promptly. Even though we live in New Jersey, we will be back. Five stars for food and service!

Ciao Bella- this is the closest taste of Italy without driving to JFK to catch an Alitalia flight to the homeland! The dining room is separate from the bar area which has additional tables. There is also a patio area for dining ala fresco, take advantage of the summer months, before they close for winter. Make a reservation or arrive at 5:30 PM when they open to be first one seated. Large parties break bread here for a delicious meal with vino and leave room for dessert. Great menu with fresh pasta made on premise and a daily special menu with traditional Italian dishes as well the dessert of the day (mentioned twice) so please make sure to taste homemade decadence. Lovely wait staff and management is around for any concerns. Most importantly, the whole restaurant staff is genuinely glad you came and happy to serve ! MANGIAMO!!

Awesome! Old school Italian on Staten Island NY. PEI mussels and seafood salad starters. Terrific! Ate so much bread to sop up everything. Risotto with shrimp and gorgonzola...best I have had within these United States. Home made paparadelle with fava beans and calamari...great! Hard to pick a winner. Can't wait to come back.

Absolutely AMAZING meal....homemade burrata with grilled zucchini, baked clams, homemade pumpkin gnocchi in a sage butter sauce, homemade fettuccini bolognese with burrata and the most unreal homemade Neapolitan. Our waitress Nelly was so sweet and gave the best recommendations on the wine and the dishes. The bill was also very reasonably priced. I would recommend making a reservation. The ONLY issue that I had is that the resturant is very hard to find. The directions bring you to the back of the house (they should have a sign saying to go around the corner). Then when you get to the front, the resturant is down a Court that you can very easily missed. Not being from the area it was just a little annoying. But the food......Outstanding

Have had many lovely meals here with my family. Attempted to dine here this evening in the outdoor section, called ahead to confirm it was open and available for a table of two. My partner has a service dog and we were denied service. I let the host know that it was against ADA regulations to deny service to a patron with a service animal and he told us to put the dog in the car. We will not be returning.

What a gem. This was our first ever visit to Staten Island and we ate twice at Basilios. The service, ambience and food were excellent. Zuppa de Pesci and Merluzzo (fish appetizer) were excellent. Bolognese with homemade pasta was also excellent. Don't miss this one. You will be glad you went there for dinner. We live in Hawaii and have tons of great seafood but unfortunately we haven't found anyone who makes these dishes as good as Basilios.

This place is magical. I'm not exaggerating, it was an amazing time. This establishment has been open for over 100 years. We ordered almost everything on the menu and all of it was so delicious. We ordered the caesar salad and beet arugula salads which both were extremely delicious. Suspiciously delicious. And then we ordered the pappardelle with tomato and goat cheese which was chefs kiss. We also ordered the veal mozzarella and the chicken marsala and it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this special wholesome restaurant that is just a good place to enjoy a starlit night. Good feelings all around. All ages. The waiter was lit.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. I first got introduced to Basilio by my cooler friends a few years back. Since then I've returned frequently with both family and friends. I hosted the 9th anniversary of my 21st birthday here. I guess the food is standard fare, if you've grown up across the bridge in Bensonhurst. There is an option to be outdoors or indoors. The place is sprawling while at the same time being intimate. There is parking. P. S. : My apologies to Basilio for my family members who've never had enough bread and have always been "frozen" by the AC. To those reading the review: There is always enough bread and the AC is just fine.

EVERYTHING YOU WOULD WANT FROM A TRADITIONAL ITALIAN RESTAURANT - THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!!! Why haven't I heard of this place before? Who is in the know about exceptional Italian restaurants on the Island? Not, me, I'm from Brooklynn and this place was well worth venturing out to Staten Island! Basilio Inn's very unassuming appearance from the outside in no way prepared me for what I was in store for: Some of the best Italian dishes I have had in a long time... Made the right way. Appitizers: Calamari - I've had fried calamari all my life, made and seasoned in all kinds of different ways. From Randazzos in Sheephead Bay to Rao's on 114th Street in the Bronx. Some need lemon, some need sauce, but Basilio's fried calamari didn't need anything; It was stand-alone delicious, tender, perfectly seasoned and very lightly breaded. It had to be some of the best calamari I have had ever. Burrata: Was someone's Nonna back there making this? Growing up in Bensonhust, if you went to the foccaria and they had bad mozzarella or Burrata, they were out of business. I've seen the quality of this cheese decline throughout the years, but not here. The Burrata was as it should be: The outer layer of mozzarella was soft, yet firm enough to give it shape while the inside creamy stracciatella was just that, with a beautiful, delicate taste. I would go back with some friends just to have an antipasto, Burrata and some prosecco. We had a few other appetizers that were exceptional: Stuffed clams, fried mozzarella, arugula salad with pear, etc. risotto, gnocchi, osso bucco - Everything was delicious! I went there with 12 members of my family; we all had appetizers, entrees and every dessert they had to offer with cappuccino and espresso. They are all foodies and LOVED THIS PLACE! Not a complaint about anything served, the ambiance was perfect and our waitress Sandy was a doll! They close for the winter, and I cannot wait to go back in the spring to sit outside, have some wine and enjoy some zucchini flowers with that amazing Burrata! Congratulations Basilio Inn... After almost six hours of driving from DC to NY, we were starving. Decided to use Yelp to find a restaurant in Staten Island for dinner, and we stumbled upon Basilio Inn. The good thing about this place was the ample parking. As you know, NY is not the easiest place to find parking. I had the white bean soup for my appetizer and homemade bucatini for my entree. I was stuffed, and I'm happy to have found this place. Service was outstanding and quick. Come here for a nice Italian meal.

Best food, best service on the Island. Always consistent. You know what your mother always said, "you get what you pay for".

We discovered this gem and now it's our favorite spot. Such good food and lovely staff! I always order the shrimp parmigiana because I love it. In the summer they have zucchini flowers which are amazing. And their eggplant/buratta app is soo good. Highly recommend giving it a try.

I've been here many times, not by my own choice, but as an invited guest. In my opinion the food is just edible, but not worth the price, or the trip. There is nothing special about the food here, at all! There are so many superior Italian restaurants on Staten Island. Furthermore I find the service poor, and the hospitality lacking. In conclusion I have decided never to return, even for a free meal as a guest.

I really want to thank some of the other reviewers about this place, mostly not to be deterred by the seemingly "out of business" look the place sports when you pull on to the dead end. We got out of the vehicle and looked around incredulously as if "uh, wait you sure this place is open?" and well we walked closer and wouldn't you know it we could smell the food and headed over. CHARMING would be the first word that comes to mind. The waiter came over and asked where we'd like to be seated, it was a nice evening so we went out to the back deck. You can see the little garden where they grow their herbs and veggies. That itself was promising. Ok so onto the real stuff. after going over the menu we decided fried calamari, pasta e fegioli and Insalata di rucola con pere alla griglia e gorgonzola (went w goat cheese instead) pictures are added to this review as well. The calamari was done to perfection although there were a few dabs of oil lingering on the bottom when we go to it, but no biggie, the marinara was fresh and def had fresh herbs and garlic in there, although it didn't really stand up when partnered w the calamari. The salad was amazing, the grilled pears went well together w the glaze and goat cheese. def not a dainty portion. for the main course i went with Linguine alla "Luciana" (clams, mussels, shrimp & calamari in white wine sauce) even though we were there later on in the evening the sea food tasted fresh and nothing gamey at all. The shrimp seemed to be straight out of the ocean. the plating was very appealing and honestly i could have done with a second serving of the seafood. The pasta was cooked to perfection. Also tried the Fettuccine al Prosciutto onions, prosciutto in cream sauce and instantly regretted getting half a portion, you may want to ask for a side of bread with this dish to get that marvelous sauce and drippings at the end of the meal. One thing i found interesting was that the dessert menu wasn't brought to until the end of the meal and the table was pretty much cleaned off, its as if they want you to settle down before more amazingness hit the place. unfortunately I can't remember the name of the desserts that were had but i can promise you they were unreal, also made on premises. The wait staff were personable and worked the whole room, they were very attentive and helped recommend the meals. the owner was also on hand and came around to say hello and ask how everything was. all in all i would def come back to this place and count it among my few "gotta go back" places.

The food was amazing. Basilio is the oldest running restaurants in Staten Island for a reason. The homemade pasta is fresh and amazing. I am a person who often avoids pasta at restaurants as it doesn't taste fresh and Basilio met and exceeded the expectations. My mother had the pork chop with apple and it was absolutely amazing. Basilio is definitely a Staten Island staple and for a reason!
