Basils Pizza & Deli

First visit. Busy but we were seated quickly. Service was perfect. Friendly and courteous. We had the original crust pizza with marinara and a Greek salad. The pizza was good but not exceptional. Greek salad was very flavorful. We noticed a few patrons ordered the gyro. Look amazing. Will definitely try that next visit. Parking is limited if they are busy we ended up parking in the Ace hardware lot. I truly enjoyed the Andy Gator beer!

AJ was very nice and patient with us! The food was delicious and the wait time was minimal! Great assortment of pizzas and interesting sides! Great draft list to choose from and wine menu!

I like this place. Great food. Good variety. Had a very tasty Greek salad with Fettuccine Alfredo. Delicious 😋 It's casual dining with a bar area but a great place if you live on the island. They had a great outdoor seating area perfect for college football season.

I absolutely love this place. The lasagna was delicious, as was the bread that came with it. The bread was right out of the oven and just incredible. Madison who was our waitress was fabulous, she was just incredible and a total joy, she is a gem! Our party of 4 couldn’t have been happier. The blueberry -lemon cheesecake was just as incredible as everything else we tasted tonight. I am so happy to write a review for this place, will definitely come back before we leave for home!!

This place is so good! They have an awesome Greek salad! Pasta was so good. Bread and marinara was very tasty as well. Our server Tyler was friendly and attentive. Love the menu selection. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Our waitress Carrie was great. Mistake in the kitchen brought out a wrong side for my sandwich, so she went in the back and got me both sides. Just awesome. Our new favorite place on the island…. If I was a bar guy, the bar on the other side of the place would be my hangout spot. Separated, so the sound doesn’t carry over to the dining table side. Nice…

My significant other and I stopped here for dinner while on vacation! It was amazing! We both had calzones that were incredible, our starter was the new Foccia and whipped feta which was amazing, and our waitress Carrie was wonderful, very attentive, and gave us plenty of time to look over the menu that had a lot of tasty looking options! Would definitely eat here again!

A nice local restaurant, great to walk in and sit. The burrata toast dish was delicious and the salads came out fresh. I like that they use spring mix now, last time I was there they were using romaine. Good service and the mural is a vibrant piece of art.

Ok folks: WHAT WE HAD WUZzzz.... Gyro n Fries Appetizer w/ Cheese & Teziki Sauce. The Teziki Sauce was very FRESH but had NO FLAVOR & served very chilled. My FAVORITE sauce actually, just not this one. Perhaps its better served not so cold, I think that makes sense. Never had this dish but I was sure it would be very delicious. However, it was not and howwww I was ready for a hot meal. Not nasty, just tasteless and sauce too chilled and because of that sauce significantly brought that dish temp down. Whatever warmth the fries and Gyro meat had was taken by that very cold sauce. This definitely can be a very great dish. Just not so wise to have that sauce cold and tasteless Teziki Sauce. With a bit more garlic and or lemon or a pinch of salt... SOMETHING, it will better. I did eat it however but I'd suggest sampling the sauce 1st next time to make a judgment personally. Atleast it was fresh tasting. Also we had a slice of pizza with artichoke heart and Italian Sausage and whatever else the photo shows, I forgot. Wasn't prepared for the store brought version of Italian sausage. That was a surprise on my taste buds more than the sight of it being different. ABSOLUTELY DID NOT LIKE! It was like having Hilshire Farms Sausage on Pizza. No Way NO How! They apparently ran out and went to purchase those from a grocery store I was told. Pizza was good aside of that unpleasant surprise. We ordered calzone. Husband always orders that. We'll, I will just say no more. He ate his calzone. My last review was 10 years ago and it was 5 stars. No more. Something bad has happened there and it has gone downhill in the last several years. Pizza has NO taste and the server tried to argue with me about it sauce having been changed. It HAS been changed to a tasteless mush. And apparently they now have problems keeping staff. Go figure. We drive 40 minutes to get there but no more.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a great experience here. I ordered the Gouda pizza, which sounded interesting and different, but it ended up being a big miss for me. The pizza was burnt, the sauce had a really bad flavor, and the Gouda just didn't work at all. The price also felt way overpriced--$18 for a small pizza and a Coke was definitely not worth it. The servers were friendly and smiled, which I appreciated, but service was pretty slow, especially considering the restaurant wasn't very crowded. It took about an hour overall. The one bright spot was the atmosphere--I really did enjoy the vibe of the place. Unfortunately, the food and service just didn't live up to it.

I phoned in my order for pick up and the order was incomplete when I arrived. So I had to wait another 20 minutes for it to be completed, as the cashier asked me if I wanted the other part or not. I said of course, then she asked if I wanted to wait another 20 minutes and I responded with," I don't have much of a choice." She didn't say anything, not even apologize for the mistake and inconvenience. Didn't even offer me anything to drink while I had to wait because of their error. When I walked back in to pick up my ordered, I stood there for another five minutes as I was looked at from the kitchen but nobody said anything to me, just totally ignored. The customer service was the absolute worse. I feel like it has to be under new management, because when this place opened, it was a family that opened it and the service and food was really good. Now neither is the case. I will not return.

We've had great meals here and we've had not so great meals here. Sometimes the service is A1 last time. The service was extremely slow. We had finished our food before we got one of the pizzas. Overall, we have always had good food and good service. Everybody has their up-and-down days so I don't hold that against them.

I've driven by here many times and no matter what time of day it's packed. Finally got to check it out and see why! They have the longest and most impressive happy hour I've ever seen. It's from 11 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday. Wow! And they have beers for $2.50. Amazing. We got there a little late so will be going back for happy hour for sure. Tuesday is trivia night. We didn't play thi time just checked it out. We sat outside on the huge shaded deck. You can bring your dog so we will be going back with the pups! I had a small Caesar salad and a small pizza. It's nice they have small salad and small pizzas. The pizza was good. It reminder me of Pizza Hut pizza. My daughter order the veggie marinara and spaghetti And a Greek salad. She loves them. The service was a little slow but the food was served quickly.

I have never seen a picture of any of their food look pleasing. That's pretty hard to do. The pizza pics? You kidding? There is Snug Pub behind this place, go there for great pizza.

Had heard good things about this place, ignored the 3 star yelp rating, it was decent but it definitely was a very solid average 3/5, not bad, decent calzones but nothing notably special about this place, also kinda slow service and not the cleanest, no real reason to go back.

I am sorry to report my meal at Basils tonight. The pizza was burned, no one ever came by to see if I needed any more to drink and no one gave me a check until I walked to the cashier. You have done better.

My family has been here several times, mostly because my boys like the pizza. The food is mostly decent, and they have a rotating beer selection with some of the specialty beers that I like. We have had a mixed experience with service. Some of the servers have been really good and responsive, but we have definitely been there when it wasn't busy and got very slow service. We haven't tried trivia or happy hour. The building and interior could use an update. Unfortunately at one point my husband brought a dessert home for me that had mold on it. He returned it and they replaced it without issue but that left a bad impression that hasn't been fully rectified with subsequent visits. I would love to see this place improve because I see it has potential.

We had a group of 9 adults and two kids: As we watched people that came in after us; come in, eat and leave while waited and received each meal came out about 20 minutes apart , appetizer came in middle of event. My Dad of 93 never got his meal the famous Greek salad . Pizza was good, lasagna was kinda disgusting and resulted in mild gastric distress to end the evening. Poor service and iffy food, a buddy of mine that used to deliver to kitchen said one glance in the back there and you'll never want to eat out again. It was my sister's birthday and I will never bother to eat there again.

Requested a table for the 4 of us and got seated immediately upon arrival on Friday evening at 6:30 with no reservation! This should have tipped us off that we were in for an 'experience' we would not soon forget!! Our server promptly took our drink orders for a round of draft beers....after which we didn't see her again for 20 minutes...tip-off number two! She asked for our order for the two small pizzas and two special salads with a side of bread we wanted. 90 minutes later...still waiting for the food and no follow up on a beer reorder the entire time...so we got up to leave and they suddenly came rushing out with the cold pizzas...followed by the not very special salads 15 minutes later! Basil's used to be great. Not anymore...don't bother wasting your time here...it's miserable now and it is pretty pricey to boot!

Food portions have gone way down. Had the gyro today and barely had any meat on it. Fry's were cold as well. Service was good.

Went to lunch here yesterday with my husband and we spilt a large everything pizza and it was delicious!!! We sat at the bar and our bartender Paige was very helpful and made a great Bloody Mary! My husband loves trying different beer on tap out and this place is perfect for that. Will be coming back soon!

The food was awful. I went and got noodles, which came out overly greasy and with a strange smell. We got there and waited over an hour for simple food, which I understand they may be packed, but for something as simple as bread to take longer than the actual food is ridiculous. Not only that the host was rude, and she wasn't even our host she just checked us out and said some back handed comments none of us had even said anything about the service but once again for simple garlic bread to come out damn near two hours later I'm in disbelief. I used to go to Basil's, and the service and food were great, and it was a nice experience. The only thing keeping that place open is the bar.

The food took over an hour to come out which would be fine if we ordered something other than garlic bread, a single slice of pizza, and plain buttered noodles. It was unclean on the inside and left me feeling gross. Would not recommend and will not be returning. The place used to be run good but has just gone downhil. Only reason it's still in business seems to be the bar. YIKES

Great food, staff is always polite and parking is close to the building. It is the only place on the island for pizza and other Italian food.

Not very pleased with this place... Ordered a $50 to go order. Was my fault I didnt check the food until I got home.. for $15 per sandwich + side im not pleased with the portion sizes as pictured below.. Would think for the price you'd get more for your $$ but just my opinion. Wont be coming back.

I haven't been back here in years and i'm so mad i haven't! this place is so good and tasty Audrey was our server and she was so charismatic and attentive and answered all our questions!! Best ceaser salad and homemade pickles and the pasta salad was good too. Best Mule i've ever tasted in my whole life!!

One of the best meatball subs I've ever had. Pizza was really good too. It's always hard to choose a dining option when out of town. My wife agreed Meatball sub was a win. Toasted bread Meatballs have to be homemade Great sauce and cheese

Was visiting town for the first time and decided to stop in for dinner. Best decision ever! The server was so kind and helpful. They were able to split our large pizza with two different flavors and it was delicious! Loved the warm fluffy crust. We also got the pretzels and beer cheese app, 10/10 recommended! Very clean and quick service. Loads of great options on the menu. Will be back next time we're passing through!

Absolutely the worst restaurant on Wilminton island. Kids are running the place. Ticket times are 60 minutes plus. Service sucks. They should probably close the place and let a real restaurant locate there. I will never waste my money or my time there again. Please close this disaster of a restaurant.

I wanted to say a word about the fare at Basil's. In my opinion you can't find a better pizza. The crust is perfect and the toppings are fresh and delicious. If you are looking for a lunch sandwich try their French Dip. It's mouth watering. The dessert selection is great, especially the tiramisu. I highly recommend!

Paige and Tyler are the best bartenders! And you should go visit them immediately!!! The calzones are so good too. Definitely recommend for an all time experience. Always has live music.

Really good pizza place! I didn't get any pizza but the atmosphere was great! Unfortunately there wasn't a band playing but definitely want to go back so I can check that part out. I ended up having a gyro which was about $10 with fries. It was good but not the best I have ever had. I definitely would recommend

Tonight was a disaster! We have been ordering take out for the last few years with little complaint. Tonight we decided to go eat there with our granddaughter, she loves the kid's pizza and there is the monitored playroom. The server kept coming back...they were out of this, they were out of that. It happens. The server asked if she could bring out our granddaughter's, because it was ready. Came out stone cold! Our sandwiches never came out! After a rediculously long wait. We paid for our drinks and left! It will be a long time before we frequent them again! The dining room had very few people, they said it was all take outs.

Their pizza is delicious. Fresh ingredients and a thin crust make it one of the best in the area. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Take out service is quick.

Really wanted to like this place. Ordered some food to go, and was told 30-45 min. Flash forward 65 min, 20 spent sitting the the restaurant waiting. It is PIZZA and SANDWICHES. The dining area was not crowded. 3 of the 4 employees working were snacking on fries without a care in the world. WILL not return and would NOT recommend.

Placed a carry out order. Spaghetti and Meatballs. No meatballs on the noodles and a very small amount of meat sauce. My husband ordered lasagna with extra bread. No bread. Now I remember why I never order from this establishment. Thought I would give them another try. Should of went with my gut instinct.

Really not impressed with Basils. It really did not stand out as far as food goes. At least it came out hot. Service is okay it wasn't the greatest feel like they were more interested in the owner Getting married than serving tables since that was all our server seemed to want to talk about after we placed our order. While the place looked clean if you looked up at the ceiling you could see water damage to the tiles that is in your view of the tv that was focused on a room which just seemed weird to me. Will I go back not sure but hey at least the food was hot.

Went to Basil's recently, and was not impressed. Menu keeps changing with the removal of some of my favorite sandwiches, and those remaining are not that good. Service was good, but should be with so few customers. Beginning to wonder if it will survive, and that is a shame, as it used to be much better. I'll, likely, try again and get pizza and see if that has gone downhill as well. Hopefully not.

I never do a five star rating but this was awesome. The food was delicious the drinks were great and the outside seating was beautiful! It looks like a okay place but trust me it is not just ok but wonderful. We had the alcoholic Gerogia peach ice tea and a Long Island and a sour beer with a Greek salad a Greek gyro and meatball sandwich.

I came here with my kids and it was a very welcoming atmosphere. They had a kids room with a tv monitor so I could watch them without getting out of my seat. And had a surprisingly large range of draft beers. The Server was helpful and the food was great! we will definitely be back

My boyfriend and I are always on the hunt for excellent pizza...I have no idea how this place doesn't have a solid rating of at least 4 stars. Starters: - Greek Sampler $9 - Spanakopita, tiropitas, dolmades, feta, Kalamata olives, meatballs, pita & tzatziki - A perfect sampler of all the Greek favorite. The spanakopita was so perfectly flaky and tasty...I mean I could have just had this plate to myself for dinner it was so stinkin' amazing!!! - Red Sangria - do you like perfectly balanced, no overly sweet (at all!) and plenty of fruit? Yes? Then today's Sangria I had was just that! So tasty we got a carafe and shared it. Dinner: View my pics to see the delicious crust, toppings and all the things. We got the Italian Stallion - Tomato-Pesto sauce, mozzarella, sweet italian sausage, red onions, spinach, feta & sun-dried tomatoes on a garlic parmesan crust. Although the atmosphere is not anything over the top special, it was clean! They have booths, tables, high tops in the bar and then bar seating as well. Service was good overall. Never had to ask for a water refill, plates or other necessities.

Perfect spot right on the island for pizza, a variety of other menu items and a great bar with an excellent selection of craft beer and cocktails! Our bartender was very sweet and the locals made us feel right at home!

We wanted some Greek food on the way to the beach. Stopped here and really enjoyed the Chicken gyro. Kids had pizza. I tasted that of course and it was very tasty as well. Service was great and she was right on things. I didn't know what to expect but it ended up a very pleasant surprise. They also have live music but we didn't get to stay for that.

If you like Pizza Hut, this is the pizza for you. The crust is very similar: a bit crispy and buttery. They also do not skimp on the toppings

Stopped in here off a whim and we are glad we did. The place has a sports bar vibe with various decor and signage on the walls with TVs and a bar; it was very welcoming. It was really nice having locals come in and all chat with one another at the bar as we ate. The waitress doubled as the bartender and was doing an excellent job juggling both with ease. We were shocked however that their menu had a Greek infusion - so we got falafel bites as an appetizer and a large pizza (half Hawaiian half Italian) as the entree. It was your standard pizza, nothing too special but it still fulfilled that pizza itch. Really no complaints aside from the fact it wasn't all that well lit where we were sitting. However, this was a very positive experience. If you're in Wilmington Island and want some good, local pizza - Basil's is the spot!

Order the Italian stallion pizza. So delish we ordered it twice in a week! Thinking about going back for a third time!

Sandwich had no meat and wings had no ranch... use to love this place, hope you fix it

Waiter was super nice, food was horrible. Shrimp scampi was served with tomatoes. It was a bed of unseasoned noodles and shrimp on top of a lemon pasta water. The chicken parm tasted old and was served with a meat sauce (which is completely odd)

Nothing great here. I tried some of the thin crust and regular pizza and was very disappointed. The thin crust was as thick as the original/regular style and just ok. I got mushrooms on the regular pizza and there were so many mushrooms on the pizza it didn't taste like pizza but like eating just mushrooms. My wife had the Gouda BLT and she said it was just ok. The breadsticks were good but basic. Service was ok friendly but not super attentive. They were also out of a lot of ingredients so management may be less than stellar. I'd pick other options if I had to do it again
