"Batch Baby, near Haggerston station, showcases a rotating line-up of coffee roasters and it’s hard not to feel very cool and very relaxed, leaning on the heavily stickered fridge as Blondie's Maria plays and you wait for your hand-brewed filter coffee and gooey prosciutto toastie. Spend a couple of hours tapping away surrounded by a thriving plant collection. " - jake missing, rianne shlebak, daisy meager, sinead cranna
"Horchata A perfect summer lunch looks like a toastie and a horchata on Batch Baby’s suntrap terrace. This Haggerston coffee shop goes through an intricate and time-consuming process that involves soaking, blending, and straining to get the right creamy consistency for their horchata. It’s made with oat milk and cream rather than traditional condensed milk, so it’s vegan and not too sweet. You can ask for it with coffee too." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"Batch Baby, near Haggerston station, specialises in feel-good mornings that only a well-made coffee and flaky pastries can bring. With their candy apple red La Marzocco coffee machine, the cafe showcases a rotating line-up of roasters. It's hard not to feel very cool and relaxed, leaning on the heavily stickered fridge as Blondie's Maria plays and you wait for your hand-brewed filter and gooey prosciutto toastie. Spend a couple of hours tapping away on a laptop, surrounded by a thriving plant collection, or lounge on the suntrap terrace." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak
"Batch Baby, a cafe close to Haggeston station, specialises in the kind of feel-good mornings that only a well-made coffee and flaky pastries can bring. With their La Marzocco coffee machine—the exact same colour as a candy apple red Fender—they showcase a rotating line-up of roasters. photo credit: Batch Baby photo credit: Batch Baby It's hard not to feel very cool and very relaxed here, leaning on the heavily stickered fridge as Blondie's Maria plays and you wait for your hand-brewed filter coffee and gooey prosciutto toastie. "Batch Baby is, aside from a wonderful coffee shop, a vibe. There are so many things about it, from the orange-tinted cups and the lo-fi aesthetic in the Rose Lipman Building, to the regular collabs with interesting chefs, that run against the deadening grain of so much in third-wave coffee. But then when it comes to what’s in the cup, the quality is impeccable, with (as the name might suggest) actual attention being paid to the batch brew, as much as meticulous by-the-cup filters made with an Aeropress." - James Hansen
