Yelp
This was the first time I tried this place, and I really liked it. It feels open, light. and airy, and has a nice vibe. I made a reservation and requested a table by the window, and was pleased to see that's where we were seated. A very good beginning to our brunch/lunch.
We selected:
GARDENER'S BREAKFAST with STEAK $30
2 eggs with flatiron steak, grilled sourdough, hash brown, garden
salad
BENEDICT $18
jambon de Paris, spinach, hollandaise
CLUB SANDWICH duck confit, jambon de paris, iceberg, aioli, pickles $19
It was a cold January day, so each of us ordered hot tea.
The Gardener's Breakfast was excellent, the eggs perfectly cooked, the steak tender and tasty and the hash brown was also very good, but too salty. The steak portion was small.
The eggs benedict was arguably the best dish, though the club sandwich was also excellent. The warm chips served with the club were tasty but some of them were overly salted.
Normally, I'd stop here and say our dining experience merited a 5-star review. But alas, the tea did disappoint, and it shouldn't have. We were each provided with a tea press, with the selected leaves, and advised to let it steep a few more minutes. When picked up the press, I could tell the tea was much too cool. I could pick up the press with my hand, and I found it to much too cool, it was barely warm. Everyone agreed the tea was too cool. I mentioned this to the person who brought us our food (not our waitress), and she felt the press and agreed it was too cool. She offered to top off my tea with hotter water, and did so, but I couldn't tell the difference. At $6 a pop for tea, it should be piping hot. Much of the tea remained untouched.
So with that, a four start review. I would be happy to return, but certainly wouldn't order their tea!
