"Bayou City Seafood and Pasta moved into a new building a few blocks East of its original Richmond location in 2020, but it’s still slinging its menu of Cajun and Creole comfort dishes. Both the chicken and sausage and seafood gumbos are balanced and deeply spiced — the latter packing in generous amounts of crabmeat. Complete the meal with an order of boudin balls, fried alligator, or its blackened catfish po‘ boy." - Brittany Britto Garley, Minh T. Truong

"Bayou City recently moved into brand new digs just a few blocks east of the original Richmond location, but their menu still features a massive selection of Cajun-inspired pastas. Try the Pasta Liberty, with shrimp, crabmeat and crawfish in a creamy white wine sauce with a choice of angel hair or fettucine. The new location features a generous indoor-outdoor bar area for those looking to dine al fresco. Call (713) 621-6602 to order takeout." - Brittanie Shey

Google
They have some really good food. The menu is full of delicious dishes to try. If you love fried frog legs, this is the place to get them from. I tried a different dish on this trip, the weatherbe pasta.

Nice atmosphere and good service. Diego was attentive and courteous. He was knowledgeable of the menu items and provided good suggestions. The blackened chicken Caesar salad was really good. The fried and sautéed crab legs were good. I preferred the fried over the sautéed. The mango and blueberry clobber was good. Vanilla ice cream would take it over the top. Overall a really good experience.

I don't even eat seafood but love this spot! I remember coming here in 2019 while on a trip to Houston and fell in love. I finally was reunited last night, and it did not disappoint. I sat at the bar, and the bartender was awesome (so sorry not to have gotten her name). I opted for the Montana pasta dish and subbed out the seafood for blackened chicken. The *small* portion is what you see pictured, which came with a huge butterflied and cajun-blackened breast atop fettuccine, broccoli, tomatoes, and mushrooms in a white wine, basil and garlic sauce - and a side of parm and garlic bread. If you think that sounds good, you should have been there to taste it! Miraculous (read: with stupidity), I ordered the blueberry bread pudding dessert with a vanilla cinnamon glaze. It wasn't my favorite, but I'm also not a bread pudding guy. It looked unique so I wanted to try it, but next time I will opt for the key lime pie or blueberry cobbler if I'm dumb enough to squeeze in dessert again. The prices are a bit high - $31 for the pasta dish and $11 for the dessert...but nothing absurd given the quality and portions. The service was impeccable, and the location has been upgraded from its original no-frills next door spot. They got fancy on me! Highly recommended!

Google
Wish I would have taken better pictures before we dived into our meal but it looked so good and was delicious we couldn't wait. First time ever coming here and it did not disappoint. The oysters are huge and worth the price. The crawfish bisque had a healthy amount of crawfish and was so delicious. My family really enjoyed themselves and we definitely will be coming back for more.

Google
The establishment specializes in delectable fried seafood dishes. I ordered a salad with spicy shrimp, which was satisfactory. My wife had the snapper, which was exquisite. However, the gumbo fell short of our expectations and was not particularly enjoyable. The roux had a watery consistency. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant.

Google
Loved everything about this place after the 1st time if I have my choice I'll never go back to the Pappas chain

Google
This is my favorite place to go to for seafood and pasta! Over the years, I watched it consolidate, then expand and open in a new building! The food has remained the same over the years, great! Everything on the menu is delicious, with the exception of that overpriced mediocre mojito that you see in the picture! The restaurant is highly recommended for its food.

Google
It has been a while since I have been here. However, the food was good and the service was great just like I remembered it.

Yelp
Clean and modern decor. The service is friendly and fast. The food is very good, and the serving's are VERY generous. Definitely a great plate of food for the cost. Added bonus is that parking is free and plentiful. We very much enjoyed our visit, and after eating a nice plate of food, we still had leftovers to take home.

Yelp
Horrible!!! Visiting here from Dallas I'm still at the restaurant..very disappointed worst food I've ever had in LIFE!!! I had the fried pickles and the blackened pasta. My husband had the seafood platter.....I paid $83.32 for garbage.. pasta was SALTY......the seafood platter had only GREASE and no flavor but salty....its just grease and salt....gross is food You all ate selling garbage food DO NOT EAT HERE!!!

Yelp
I picked up a regular size, Apache Pasta with colorful fettuccine togo recently to try and also share. It was very delicious, rich, packed with very good shrimp and either crab or chicken chunks in the mix that were really soft, supple cheese, thick pretty noodles, mushrooms and lot of sauce. The sauce wasn't too runny or too thick. It was fairly simple, but salted right with a go-to-the-point spicy zing in profile. It was great imo and blended very nicely with the noodles and protein. The shrimp didn't have that store-bought frozen taste or texture either. Complimentary garlic bread was very good. Great, friendly service and I was surprised in a good way that the regular portion seemed quite big as well. I plan to order the blackened catfish meal and chocolate / peach bread pudding from here in the future.

Yelp
visit here for HRW and it was great service, the food was okay, First dish came out a bit under the temperature and I replaced it with something different. My mom order a fried dish and didn't complete it, She took it with her and didn't touch it afterwards either. I would try it again during a happy hour or HRW maybe. But it wasn't memorable enough for my to rush back.

Yelp
See food, seafood. Been here once a long time ago prior to renovation. The spot is nice, new and way more spacious. Went for a team lunch on a Friday at 11 am. Fairly empty (they just opened). Staff were friendly. The menu is diverse. There are also lunch specials. Ordered: blackened catfish and jambalaya (lunch special), boudin balls for appetizers Boudin balls - fried crispy, come out hot, served with cocktail and tar tar sauce, it was ok, a bit under seasoned for me so the sauces are a must Blackened catfish with jambalaya- good portion for lunch (2 fillets), the catfish was blackened nicely; the jambalaya was mushy which aesthetically looked less than desirable, packed with seafood - shrimp, crawfish, etc and way too many onions, seasoned nicely overall The lunch specials come with garlic bread but our server forgot until we reminded her ... at the end. Lastly, the tar tar sauce was ok but not enough flavor - somewhat bland The place is nice and I'm not against coming back.

Yelp
I visited this place with my cousin after a baseball game because I had a craving for crawfish. We decided to sit at the bar. The atmosphere was pleasant and the patrons were welcoming. They seem to have happy hour almost every day. We were greeted by Emily and Amanda. My cousin ordered boudin balls, while I opted for a pound of crawfish, mushrooms, and corn & potatoes. The quantity was just right for me - I especially loved the mushrooms. The boudin balls were crispy on the outside and moist inside. They also provided warm towels after the meal, which was a nice touch. The only thing I wished for was that the bartenders had introduced themselves, rather than us having to hear their names from another customer.

Yelp
Stopped in this evening for dinner. I had the sliders. They came with two and bbq sauce for dipping. Decent amount of pickles. The crawfish were a decent size. Not overly spicy. Good flavor. The claw meat even came out easily. Seasoning was brought on the side. The butter was a huge portion for two dollars. They charged for all the little extras even the gloves. The server was super polite. Made sure of the glasses being full. I would hope for the cost of sodas being nearly 4 dollars. Overall everything came out fairly fast. Just felt for the environment and bar atmosphere that the costs were high.

Maxeine J.

Yelp
I ordered the snapper remington and the food food was bland. The fish was greasy and rubbery. The rice and veggies had absolutely no seasoning. The spinach artichoke dip was also not good

Natalie R.

Yelp
The waiter was amazing. He was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu when we had questions. I had the shrimp and crab fettuccine Alfredo. It was delicious and I had a pineapple spicy margarita that was great. It was perfectly crafted. I was there for a birthday dinner the food came out fast. The appetizers were delicious. We had fried pickles, Boudin balls, crab stuffed jalapeños.

Yelp
Gosh i have not been here since i was a kid. I would come here just for the fresh boiled crawfish. So yummy! Now, back again so many years later. I see the place moved a few doors down. It looks nice. It use to be this small dark restaurant with amazing crawfish. I love the brightness of the new place. Our waiter was so nice. He explained the menu to us. Told us what to get and we followed. The pasta liberty was delicious! I loved the sauce. The fresh seafood. The mushrooms added nice flavor. He also recommended the crawfish bisque. It had consistency of gumbo. The flavor was divine. It was fullllll of crawfish. We also ordered the fried catfish bites and fried pickles. They were okay. Maybe put a appetizer sampler together I will be back!

Yelp
First time here. Came here this Friday night, close to 8pm. No line and was seated right away. Our dining area was very clean and neat. Our waiter, Carlos, was very friendly and attentive. He gave my husband a good recommendation that he ended up enjoying. We started off with the Fried Calamari (7.5/10 good and crispy, but could've been seasoned more and the portion was small IMO) and Fried Catfish Pieces (7/10, good and crispy but could've used a little more salt). We ordered Dale's Special (our waiter recommended) (9/10, everything was well-seasoned & food remained hot), Reg. Shrimp & Crab Fettuccine (9/10, good portion, well-seasoned, creamy and good remained hot), and Chicken Fingers (my kid rated it 9/10- crispy, seasoned and delicious). We ended the dinner with a slice of the Flourless Chocolate Cake (9/10, not too sweet the way we like it & chocolate was smooth and rich). We're definitely coming back next time to try other dishes!

Yelp
We have Been going here for years. My wife & I always enjoyed food & service there. But the last time we went, was in midafternoon, almost no customer since it was early. I order a regular menu seafood order, my wife ordered a fish taco. Server said we had to eat in tge bar to have her fish taco. The restaurant was not busy at the time, we have eaten here for years. I ask if he would check with the manager. Server came back and said could not serve fish taco. We have not been back. Wrote e mail to Bayou City and never heard back. I am 79 yrs old & and retired police officer. Guess I will never go back

Yelp
LITERALLY DISGUSTING! The waiter was extremely nice and super attentive but the food was absolutely awful and so were the drinks. I didn't know cheese sticks and a sidecar could go so wrong. I tasted no crab in the stuffed mushroom but did get a few shells and the boiled shrimp were probably the worst. I guess I didn't read enough of the reviews but advertising this place as a Cajun restaurant when nothing is seasoned is deceitful and misleading!

James S.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick lunch, and was surprised how fast the service was! Seafood gumbo was pretty solid-- a little on the lighter side, but salty, and tons of shrimp and crab. Gumbo came out in under 5 minutes from ordering. I was really hungry, so this was an awesome surprise. Also comes with free garlic bread and crackers. My only one complaint was they probably had too much water in the rice so it was a little more stuck together than I'd ideally want. Crawfish etouffee was good as well, came out piping hot! Overall service was very attentive and friendly. Ample parking, and slightly on pricer side. TVs in the bar area to watch the game. Overall solid choice in the area, so recommend it!

Yelp
This is my first time back in many years. My friend and I came here last Friday evening. We had been to the old location many times way before the pandemic. It was a very old place. This is their new fancy building just down the street from their previous location. You can tell they spent a pretty penny on this upgrade. I can tell they are trying to appeal to a broader audience, and not just their regular crowd of previous older patrons. It has a new large parking lot, so that's appealing. Service - we were sat in the dining section. But I also saw 2 seater high top tables near the bar as well. Service was pretty stellar. Our server explained he had worked there for a long time. He did all the big and little things that make a dining experience look easy. Charming, available, courteous, and bagged up our food for us. Food - since it's the season, I ordered 1lb of their crawfish. $9.99 is their mkt price right now. Honestly, it was ok. I guess to make more $, they dont provide any sauce or fixings included. Mind you, this is Cajun style, not Viet where it's saucy already. You have to pay for their $1.99 extra. I was still hungry. I wanted to order their sautéed crab fingers, but they were out. So, I decided on the pasta glacier (regular size) after recommendation from our server. He said he eats there every day and has had all of the pasta dishes. It was an interesting flavor that I didn't expect. It didn't seem really cajan inspired, but it was creative! It was fairly tasty. It includes goat cheese, veggies, plus scallops and shrimp, with a light sauce.

Keisha R.

Yelp
I've been here twice now and for the most part it's good. The service was great both times. The seafood mushroom app was bland and the stuffed shrimp was bland. But I had one of the pasta dishes and it was great. The boudin is pretty good. My family likes their fried fish and calamari dishes. The cocktails are excellent. So overall, I'd come back and try more pasta dishes. The ambiance is cool. Good for small and large parties. The covered patio area is cool too.

R G.

Yelp
Service was great. If I could give a 1/2 star for the food. At our table, we had catfish , double baked potato, gumbo, red beans and rice . Every was below average. No plans on returning. They are very proud of their dinner prices.

Mike T.

Yelp
An unusually bad, tasteless and horrible experience... which I RECCOMENDED to Guests-who flew in from out of town... terrible inexperienced child waitress! For Christ's sake... even the chicken was overcooked , pasta flat , and crawfish just horrible!! F- Do NOT EAT HERE!!!!! And EXPENSIvE!!!

Irma L.

Yelp
To start off we had the oysters, spinach artichoke dip, boudin balls. Everyone had different entree dishes that were each delicious. The service was excellent.

Will T.

Yelp
I discovered Bayou City Seafood and Pasta through word of mouth, and this establishment met my expectations. The staff was warm & welcoming, the restaurant had a nice design and appeared to be clean, and the lunch menu had pretty good options. The spicy pineapple margarita and the shrimp creole were both great in their own right. In addition, the food service was fast! The glaring area of opportunity I see for Bayou City Seafood and Pasta is improving their pricing without sacrificing quality. In other words, the prices on their regular menu (non-lunch menu) were rather high to the point they seemed unreasonable. Nonetheless, I will keep Bayou City Seafood and Pasta in mind the next time I'm in the area and desire tasty seafood.

India F.

Yelp
I came here twice in a month from out of town and omg I was blown away! Russ was my server both times and he was GREAT. Very attentive, especially when I told him I was allergic to shellfish. I got the blackened chicken pasta both times and it was SOOOO GOOD. My family all enjoyed their food as well. This plate is basically plate cleaning worthy. It's great for family vibes and a good outing with a group of all ages. I would deff recommend and go back.

Lorraine D.

Yelp
Food is very good and lots of choices for seafood. We go when we are in Houston. Service is excellent.

Eric B.

Yelp
Overpriced and underwhelming. Not a good combo. One visit is almost certainly all I will give this establishment

Jannah W.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday afternoon. The drinks were weak. We started w stuffed mushrooms. This was my first time having stuffed mushrooms. Not 100% sure what they were stuffed with, but I enjoyed them. My pasta was beautiful but bland. It was in desperate need of some salt, some garlic, some onion, anything! My boyfriend had some kind of white wine sauce Angel hair pasta. It was extremely dry and even blander than mine. I didn't think that was possible. He said he liked the flavor, he just wished it had more sauce. Overall I was not impressed. I wouldn't come back here for pasta

M G.

Yelp
The service, food and portions sizes are good! We came here for Houston Restaurant Week. I must say, I am impressed with the gumbo. This is probably one of the best restaurant gumbos in Houston.

Jacqueline P.

Yelp
Extremely overpriced the food was just mediocre not even seasoned. The service was quick and great.

Crystal C.

Yelp
Made reservations in open table as recommended for seafood. Arrived and was greeted very pleasantly. Say at high top table in the enclosed patio... Very open space with TV's on the walls. Very accommodating for larger or small group... Moderately quiet and there were many filled tables, so the low noise level was nice. Appetizers: We ordered 1/2 doz hot boiled shrimp. They were spicy, more salty than I'm used to, but they were a nice size and delicious. Crab stuffed mushrooms were on the smaller side, but they were consistent, filled with flavor and very tasty. Although we shared it, the portion was also perfect for one. HUGE PORTIONED Entrees: The shrimp etouffee with crawfish was a delicious! Come in a bowl-like dish with scoop of white rice and garlic bread (the garlic bread is addicting ~ tread lightly) Regular sized Grilled snapper is a bed of rice, veggies and topped with lump crab and a few med sized shrimp. When it was brought out, I had to ask if it was the REGULAR portion ..... It was! Prepare to share or clear the fridge out, you're going to need the space for all the take out containers Give stars for service ... Everything was delicious and the service was phenomenal. I'll be back!

Saira K.

Yelp
I have a soft spot for this restaurant, as it was one of the places my husband and I frequented often back when we were dating 20 years ago. I haven't tried anything besides the pasta here, and it is still fabulous upon a recent visit with my child. He also thought the pasta was delicious, but definitely a heavy meal for lunch. The pasta portion was big enough for us to split one and still have leftovers to take home. Great restaurant that has always been consistent for me.

Peter M.

Yelp
Great Louisiana food, if Cajun is your thing, this is your place in Houston. Wonderful environment, great fresh food and amazing service. Check out the pictures, there's something here you will like.

Chelsea R.

Yelp
Late post (sorry stalkers but I'm not in Houston) but my word this place gets better and BETTER!! They moved a few doors down and the place is immaculate. Huge bar, ample seating, natural light, and still the same incredible cuisine. If you know south Texas you know we gets down on that gulf shrimp!! The gumbo here will rock your world. As will the crawdads during crawdad season. My dad still lives here so we go every time I come down!! Try the key lime pie for dessert. Not overly sweet, but packs the right amount of a lime punch. I could talk all day about how much I love the food in Houston. Whether you're a H town native or visiting in town. Come here and come often!

Kita L.

Yelp
This place is amazing . Great staff and Awsome Bartender. She was very pleasant and everything she recommended was absolutely DIVINE .

Summer S.

Yelp
I came here for a quick bite. The gumbo was soo good! The seafood gumbo to be exact. The cocktail was okay not my favorite but cute. I also had the shrimp po boy and baked potato. That was the worst decision I made was getting that po boy and potato. It wasn't bad just not good. I only had five shrimps on the sandwich and the potato was something like I would make at home if I was a child and just wanted cheese and bacon on it. No adult toppings at all. No sour cream or chives just cheese and a sprinkle of bacon. I'm good on this place the gumbo was the best but don't get nothing else. The service was good I sat at the bar. For me get the gumbo and leave

Gloria H.

Yelp
My first experience here was good. The host was staff and the cook or very friendly. The decor was pleasant. The atmosphere was quiet and everyone seem to have a good time. The food smelled wonderful. This was my Houston restaurant. Wait the menu was excellent. I had a three course meal, I will recommend this place to everyone

Patricia P.

Yelp
I went last week for lunch. Always a tough decision of what to pick on the lunch menu. I opted for the Red Snapper, sautéed. I picked the stuffed potato for my side. The snapper was incredible. What a nice piece of fish with a light sautee. I was pretty happy right there. Then I tasted the stuffed potato, oh my, it was the best tasting potato. I asked what was different and they said the new bacon. Yep. Definitely a go to for the future.

Tim N.

Yelp
This place is awful. Considering Houston has a pappadeaux on nearly every corner, and is no stranger to cajun food, it's a mystery how this place is still in business. I tried the crawfish etoufee, a common cajun staple. The crawfish were small, and overall the meal was flavorless, watery, and even the rice, along with the bread served was subpar. I consider the quality of the food by far to be most critical factor in rating a restaurant. However, the service, and decor/ambience was equally awful. The interior has an extremely "chain restaurant" feel to it, similar at best to a slightly run down Chilis or Applebees - albeit with more tv's tuned into sports. In addition, the server was notably distracted, very slow, and off-putting.

Jeff G.

Yelp
Tried this place for dinner last night with a friend, and was really amazed by the great tasting food here. I had a cup of gumbo and the seafood platter blackened and some raw oysters. The seasoning they use on their food is awesome. Everything was cooked perfectly. I would highly recommend this place for dinner or lunch.

Fatima G.

Yelp
Came here for the first time today for Mother's Day. I must say I am impressed. Wanted to take my granny somewhere different than "Pappadeaux". I did was not able to get pictures. But we had crab cakes as an appetizer. I ordered the Mother's Day special 4 course special. So I picked the crawfish empanadas, Seafood Gumbo, Snapper w/ mushrooms, spinach, and some sauce. With Asparagus. (I don't think it's on the regular menu and I can't remember the actual name) We also ordered the seafood platter and Oyster Po Boy. Everything was delicious. Only complaint was the oysters were very bland. Cooked perfectly, but no seasoning. Not sure about the desserts yet, had to pack them to go. Drinks were on point. Our server was nice, it was super busy today so service was a little slow. But that was expected. Overall experience was good and I will be back.

Courtney W.

Yelp
Nice seafood and pasta spot! Tons of parking and the building is new, very spacious and comfortable, great place to watch a game. Large menu with lots of variety. Happy hour varies everyday but on Sunday it's all day. My cocktail was sweet and yummy. Catfish bites were crispy and well seasoned, just wish the portion was a little larger ($9 for happy hour). The dishes all range around $25-40 depending on what is in them. I had the pasta liberty, which I really enjoyed. It had a lot of crab, crawfish, and shrimp and I had the leftovers the next day. My family enjoyed their meals as well (crab cakes, etoufee). Service is also pretty good, staff is nice and helpful. Price point is definitely similar to that of pappadeauxs, maybe slightly lower. Quality is similar. Big thing we noticed is the food wasn't as overwhelmingly salty as other similar places, which is a good thing. I would come back!

Stephanie Q.

Yelp
I am in love w the Montana fettuccine It's my favorite upscale Cajun food. Yes it's pricey but... it's loaded w seafood the flavor

Evelyn L.

Yelp
Didn't hate it nor did I love it. I was in the mood for some fried seafood so we decided to try out this place. I thought the calamari was good, however the portion was pretty small compared to what other restaurants give you. The gumbo was a 2/5 nothing impressive. We ordered the shrimp etouffe and a 1/2 shrimp po-boy as an entree which we thought were good. The service was average. Overall I say 3/5 is a fair rating.

Deanndra E.

Yelp
This place is super expensive be prepared for that. Also we were there for a family birthday event and they didn't have a kids menu.

Sukanya S.

Yelp
Liberty pasta and Deal's special here is pretty good welcome services family gatherings with family members all over the place for the weekend if you're interested in joining us for dinner, lunch or birthday celebration we can always do it on the grill or something else with large capacity!

John M.

Yelp
The service was amazing - I think he's name was Carlos. However, the food had no seasoning and or taste. Frankly, the appearance was great, but when you started eating it - like all was steamed with no spices. Hated the outcome. Very clean and nice place.

Candice E.

Yelp
The food and service.. chefs kiss. ‍ If you are a fan of crab cakes, try them pan seared with butter.

Requel P.

Yelp
Wooooowwwwww!!!!! I didn't even realize that this was the upgraded spot from the opposite end of the strip!!!!!!! (See my first review) However! This new renovated restaurant was much needed and I'm here for it. *Brand new construction *Plenty of seating and bar seating. *Friendly staff *The food we had was great! *Stuffed Jalapenos were definitely spicy & large! *Crab Bisque was Amazing!!! *Fried Catfish nuggets were everything!! *They have HH all evening on Wednesdays! My friends and I were thoroughly surprised when we came through! Yall I cannot wait to go back!

Lisa Y.

Yelp
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Houston, but the last 2 times I've been the service has been atrocious. While the food remains good, the prices have gotten a bit steep for what you're getting. Food alone I could give this place 4 stars, but after tonight's dining experience it will be a while before I return. Our server was perfectly pleasant, but seemed to lack experience and server skills - she took forever to take our order, never checked on us and didn't refill the drinks until after we'd finished eating and had to ask for refills. This place is not "fine dining", but at 30 dollars a minimum per dish, you do sort of expect some quality service.

Shivalerie D.

Yelp
My first time here & the food was good. We came on Father's Day & got seated immediately. Casual attire is ok. I got the seafood platter & the pasta weatherby. Both were seasoned very well. I also enjoyed the sweet potato fries. Prices were about average for seafood. The location is near the Galleria, so I'm sure the traffic can be hectic @ times, but I'll definitely return.

Germanie J.

Yelp
First time here and it was a good experience. Nice, clean, inviting restaurant/bar. We sat at the bar area and were greeted right away. We ordered off the bar menu: stuffed mushrooms, chicken tenders, and fish tacos. Mushrooms were good but lacked a lot of flavor. Fish tacos were pretty good! Chicken tenders were good as well. I anticipate trying the crawfish and pasta next!

Nena K.

Yelp
Hot,fresh and tasty food!! Pasta was really good, extremely flavorful and authentic, and the portions were pretty large. Service was fast and customer service was great. I'll be back to try some appetizers and different pastas.
