"Escape is apparently on everyone’s minds. I reserved our hotel, located across the street from the lakeshore in Traverse City’s East Bay, a few days ago online, and it was one of the last I could find in the whole city. We drove past at least a dozen hotels on the lakeshore road, most bearing signs proclaiming, “NO VACANCIES.” “Has it been busy this summer?” I ask an employee standing behind an enormous sneeze guard that stretches across the reception desk. I’m using a pen to sign the receipt confirming the night’s stay. “Oh yeah,” she replies, directing me to dispose of the pen in a basket on my side of the barrier. They have been completely booked almost every week, she says, and recites their new COVID policies: no pool, no breakfast buffet, no housekeeping unless requested. The hotel has a strict mask-on rule for public areas, like the lobby and elevator. Floor decals mark the appropriate six-foot distances to stand apart from other guests. Our room upstairs has been vacant for a day, long enough that we probably don’t need to worry about virus droplets suspended in the air. Still, upon entering, we immediately open the window and set to cleaning all visible surfaces, using disinfectant spray and wipes we brought with us from home. It’s that mindset, more than anything, that will linger long after SARS-CoV-2 becomes an unpleasant memory in the minds of the living: no longer being able to trust that anywhere outside home can be safe." - Jenny G. A great experience. Some of the best breakfast services I've ever seen. Everything was clean, the pool didn't run out of towels, and the game room was nice for the kids. They accommodated our large group with the meeting room, and I enjoyed the sitting areas throughout the hotel. Also, right on the water. Happy customer here 😀

Stayed here on a weeknight in the winter offseason for a fantastic rate ($65/night!). The best thing about this hotel is its central location to everything in TC and its amazing pool/hot tub. There was a sign in the huge pool room stating they keep the pool at 84 degrees and the hot tub at 102 degrees. Even when there was a snowstorm on outside, the pool room was nice and heated - made for a fun experience swimming comfortably and seeing all the snow squalls out the window. I’m sure the price is quadruple in the summer but in the wintertime this is a great stay to break up the winter blues.

Decided to do a quick visit for some rest and relaxation in Traverse City.||I booked my room on a third-party website. Had a few questions after booking online and called the property directly. I spoke with Ferrell, front desk staff, who was pleasant, courteous and knowledgeable. ||My friend and I checked in on a Sunday. Very cozy, warm and welcoming lobby area. We were greeted by Ferrell, the same person I spoke to on the phone a few days earlier. Again, we received excellent customer service from her. Friendly disposition. ||The room was fantastic and the view was to die for!! Watching the sunset and rise from our personal balcony on a fall Michigan day was a treat! The room could use some updating but other than that, we were more than satisfied with the accommodations. We also had a big jacuzzi tub in the room and a very large TV to watch the Lions game. So many wins all the way around!||We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. Great variety of hot and cold food to get your day started!||Looking forward to staying on this property again in the future!

Google
Great location right on the front street and the waterfront. We booked it during the off-season so there's a small construction on the building site. The two-queen-bed room is roomy and clean. The beds were comfortable. The pool area was clean with hot tub. The front desk staff is nice and efficient. The breakfast area feels tiny. We could hear the noise from the room on top of us.

Google
We upgraded and went with King Bay view room with 2-person spa tub. Totally worth it. This staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. The free hotel breakfast is probably one of the better ones we've encountered in our travels. Only downside was the weather but nothing to do with the resort. <3 Would definitely stay again if in area.

My most gorgeous Wife and I spent our anniversary in a King jacuzzi room... it was beautiful, clean and inviting. The jacuzzi tub was plenty big to accommodate my Queen and I at the same time. Our room (2nd floor) overlooked Grand Traverse Bay. The waves were softly rolling to snow covered shore... a beautiful sight indeed! Room 210 is HIGHLY recommended.

Google
Excellent service! We arrived early and they were so accommodating. The room had a beautiful view. The breakfast was great, something for everyone for sure. |Unfortunately, my husband left his bi-pap night time breathing machine behind and we did not realize it until we arrived home three hours later! The hotel was so great, you could not have asked for better. The front desk called housekeeping and arranged for shipping it to us. The unit arrived and it was in perfect condition! Thank you so very much! We will definitely be back!

Google
Love this hotel. ||They accommodated us locals after The Blossom hotel down the road tried to extort $800 from us. ||Do ask if there're any teams staying. There was a terror of a child who wouldn't stop screaming and running everywhere. In the pool, up and down stairs, hallways, elevatora, lobby. ||We had the family suite for our kid's bday. Perfect size for what we needed.||AND they don't charge hundreds of dollars extra if you're a local.

Yelp
i loved it because it had really good breakfast options like eggs waffles and sausage. it also had really nice pool and hot tub. the best part was it had an arcade on the floor of the beach. we will definitely be back

Tracy F.

Yelp
I went to this hotel in January so we had a nice lake view room and the price was right. It was very clean and it was your average continental breakfast. Very polite and friendly people at check-in.

Rin G.

Yelp
We love this hotel and it's older but cozy atmosphere. I like how when you enter the lobby from the outside, there is a fireplace and sitting area to lounge at. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. My toddler is extremely active and wakes up early like he had five cups of coffee in...so I requested for a ground floor for the room we booked so as to not disturb any other guests to be below us. In swift response, they got back to me telling me the got us a room on the beach floor. We were so grateful and extremely satisfied with our accommodations! Wallpaper and some furniture definitely look way past the times and probably need a huge upgrade for the a average guest but honestly, it is one of the many reasons why my family & I enjoy Bayshore lol. I mean, it exudes history and time and we love that. Breakfast is simple with omelette choices and breakfast sausages and waffle maker and bagels. Seating is limited so I either try to go very early or towards the end lol. The pool is very exposed in the lobby area but not an issue for us...I see it could potentially be for some as it is in a very unusual location in the hotel. But overall, we always enjoy staying at Bayshore Resort whenever we visit Traverse City!

Michelle P.

Yelp
Stayed for an impromptu girls weekend. When checking in heard that 2 hockey teams were staying there for a local tournament - yikes! We never heard them! Hotel staff were great! Nice pool & hot tub. Amazing breakfast included - waffles, eggs, sausage.... What a deal! Will definitely be back Early February, basic room, 2 queen beds, 2 nights, $200

Joe S.

Yelp
If you stay here just be aware that the shuttle service is a total joke. We had an 8pm reservation. The shuttle driver told us that they run u til midnight. We call the hotel to request our shuttle to come back and the clerk informed us that the shuttles o my run until 10pm. They gave us a list of taxis to call and multiple numbers were out of service. It was a nice hotel but don't rely on them for anything other than a place to sleep.. I love this area but I will never ever stay at this location again. For the money spent on this room for my anniversary weekend and the services promised I'm sorely disappointed and dissatisfied

Yelp
We bought a Groupon for one night for this resort for a little over $60, but it was a 4 hour drive so we decided we would stay a second night and since that wasn't a Groupon - we had to pay $309!!! We figured the average for the 2 nights was $185 so that made it a little easier to take! The hotel was okay, but I'm sure the price is so high because the location and view from the rooms is amazing. We did request a view of the water so that increased our price! We liked the hot tub and pool area and they had many towels available for the guests. While we were there, they had two weddings going on and so I'm guessing that is a big part of the draw for this hotel. The employees were nice and helpful. The free breakfast was fine, with all of your typical hotel breakfast items. They did run out of batter for the waffle machine and I was surprised when they said "oh I guess we are all out" and weren't able to refill it! We were at breakfast at around 9 am and I believe breakfast goes until 11, so that was unusual!

Mandi G.

Yelp
I found this hotel on Groupon offering a special deal on their jacuzzi suites. I also noticed they had an indoor pool, so I decided a mini-vacation was in order. It's definitely a drive (6.5 hours) from Chicago, but it's a really pretty drive and this hotel is totally worth it. We were basically the only people there. We checked in and then had the pool completely to ourselves for a couple hours. Then we went and picked up dinner and brought it back to our room. And we relaxed in the room's jacuzzi after dinner. Our room had a balcony with an amazing view of the bay. The bed was super comfy as well. I highly recommend this resort for a safe, relaxing mini-vacation. The front desk said they would beat or honor any online prices if you booked through them direct. I will definitely be back sooner than later!

K K.

Yelp
It was fine. The room (2Q bay view) was large and clean. Superb view. The hotel is in need of some updates and modernization and repairs. The gym is awful. Old unusable equipment. Breakfast was typical motel fare, waffle maker et al. Location to downtown is not really walkable unless u feel like getting all ur steps in for the day just getting there. The boat rental place onsite was not open which was a bummer. It was fine.

Willard A.

Yelp
What a kind and thoughtful staff. We were forced to stay in Traverse City with a broke down car. Glad we ended up here. The shuttle guy took me to my car in the morning and the other staff allowed us to store our personal belongings in the office till the car was fixed! Great place!!!

Ed W.

Yelp
This is a very nice hotel. We stayed for one night the Friday after Thanksgiving. The rate was very reasonable. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was very comfortable, but not all the lamps worked, which made it a little dark. They have an indoor pool and jacuzzi. We only tried the latter and found it very relaxing. There is a nice continental breakfast with scrambled eggs and omelets. Usually, eggs in a continental breakfast are dry, but these were quite good. We were pleasantly surprised. I am sure this place is more pricey during the summer months, but it is quite a bargain in late November.

Christine B.

Yelp
This property on the beach is worth every penny. The onsite water sport rentals, the proximity to Front Street, the ample parking and limited number of rooms all make for a great choice in Traverse City. The staff is friendly, the rooms and common areas are clean and Covid appropriate, and the grab and go breakfast is complimentary. It's a great choice for a relaxing stay on the bay with friends and loved ones!

Mike B.

Yelp
Location. Location. Location. They have it. Beautiful lobby is a great gathering space with its 15' high xmas tree and warm fire. A out a mile from downtown. Super convenient. Rooms were very clean and when we requested they be cleaned it was done very promptly. Free breakfast isn't fantastic but it's included in room rate so I won't complain. Indoor pool appeared to be really clean with plenty of water movement when no one was in the pool (I assumed that meant excellent circulation. We'd for sure stay here again.

Amy K.

Yelp
The bay front room was totally worth the little extra we paid for the full view. The romance package included a local sparkling wine and chocolate covered dried cherries- I couldn't have asked for a more perfect package. Staff was very friendly and the room was clean, and it seems to have been updated recently. The balcony could have been cleaner (spiders!), but I'm sure that is hard to maintain with the bay front. Perfect location! Definitely would visit again.

christian C.

Yelp
This is essentially a 1986 Holiday Inn - unchanged except for wifi. Souless rooms with threadbare towels, plastic cups, florescent lights, etc. All for $250/night.

Kevin G.

Yelp
3rd time here in 3 years. Still very happy with staff, service, cleanliness, breakfast area and food, and grounds. We get a discount due to the event we attend each year so it is easy to keep coming back. But while we are here we have no complaints. Nice location on Front Street just outside of the main business district but very easy to walk to downtown shops and restaurants. The pool and hot tub area is well kept and always clean. You have to take the elevator down to bottom floor to walk right out to the beach. Very nice views of the bay and you can take a long walk in front of the homes near the resort. A go to place in my book...especially for the right price.

Cindy Z.

Yelp
Very nice location, close to downtown. Only about 30 minutes away from Sleeping Bear. This hotel has so many nice amenities including a beach behind the resort where you can watches sunsets and sunrises. We also really recommend the rooms facing the water because the views are amazing. Service was also great. We enjoyed our stay and can't wait to be back!

Terri S.

Yelp
I stayed here last week with a couple of friends and had a situation that I felt uncomfortable with. We spoke to the manager who got to the bottom of it and made everything right! She did the right thing and handled it well. We appreciate her professionalism and attention. I would recommend this to others and would stay here again.

Yelp
Bayshore Resort Traverse City... I have been to this resort numerous times(q1994)and have always loved it. Recently re-married and just needed a get a way, we decided to go to Traverse City for a romantic shopping kind of weekend and booked this hotel more than a month ago. Walked into the room and immediately we both smelled stale cigarette smoke in a nonsmoking hotel!!! We called front desk and explained issue. We were asked to leave the room for 10 minutes so someone could pour powder on carpet and vacuum room. We returned after 20 minutes...I used to be a smoker, have had bronchitis and pneumonia and no longer able to be around smoke and different environmental allergies. Stuff poured on carpet made it worse, then my spouse started not feeling well(my throat was swelling, lips tingling, eyes watering and coughing) . We will not be returning . We were refunded the two nights. We asked about the next weekend and was told it was a suite and open, but at ridiculously hyped up price! Manager discouraged us from rebooking for next weekend due to hockey tournament in town. Who cares!!! We were going shopping for furniture and alone time! She stated room rate and offered no accommodating price compared to what we had paid...we requested a refund and drove back home 1 hr and 20 minutes away, me crying the majority of the way home. Bayshore has lost a repeat loyal customer. Would suggest anyone booking a room to ask if anyone smoked in the room. It was disheartening how we were treated considering how loyal we are to this hotel and have gone there often. Will be looking for a new hotel to enjoy a romantic, shopping weekend....Bayshore should be ashamed! Our clothing we had on while in the the room for a little more than an hour absolutely stink. Staff failed completely...really....would of it been that hard to find when the room above it or the corner we requested would be available, as we told the manager and new girl on board we were flexible. Manager totally failed in the customer service and training of new employee....very upset and we are home! Just do not get the lack of management and making sure your visitor is happy...oh wait..the hotel was full, we must have been considered local, so our requesting a refund was no financial consequence to hotel...we were not treated as loyal, local customers!!! Guess locals are treated differently than " real visitors".....

Yelp
We had a great experience staying here. We were greeted right away by their friendly staff and checked in by Kevin. He was so knowledgeable about the area. He provided us with a list of great locations to hit while in town and we loved every one of them. We had a room with a balcony, it had a very pretty view looking out over the water. The room was clean and comfortable. As a hotel they had a nice breakfast spread, and I loved that I could get coffee at any time of the day. The main reason we booked here was location. We started our stay on their beautiful beach, followed by walking just a couple blocks to dinner and drinks. Perfect location for being in the action. We can't wait to return.

Reed F.

Yelp
The location is great location, but the amenities are DATED. And that means that the rooms are stuck in the early 1990's. It's not worth the price you pay. Pros: Extremely friendly staff Location on the bay Really close to Downtown Cons: Don't get a room near the pool Older rooms Dark Breakfast ends at 10:00 AM

Joani O.

Yelp
My mom, daughter, and I took a girls' road trip for my daughter's Spring Break this year, and after comparing a few hotels in the area, I chose this place. It's on one of the main streets in Traverse City, with an ample parking lot, in a great location. The hotel itself is older but clean and very well maintained. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The pool faces the front desk and there's also a hot tub. It can get crowded, so we had to strategically plan when we wanted to go. Our room was rather standard (no fridge or microwave), but we had a balcony with a nice view. A pretty standard continental breakfast is included in the room rates, but they also have waffle makers and also do a (microwaved) breakfast sandwich or sausage patty for some additional protein. Unlimited coffee/tea and juice, which is nice. They have a small fitness room and mini arcade for kids, on the lower level. The downstairs leads to the private beach as well, which we loved. Just walk out the door and you're there! Loved it. Also great wifi! It connected automatically every time we came back in. The only negative is that they don't have a restaurant onsite, and one night it was pouring so I had to hop in the car to go get us dinner. The hotel is right across the street from a nice breakfast place, and also a new Mexican restaurant that had just opened, plus it's minutes from downtown. We really enjoyed our time in Traverse City and would definitely stay here again.

Holmes R.

Yelp
We checked in on a Saturday evening and did not arrive until later than expected due to bad weather on the trip down; however, the receptionist was so friendly and sweet. After hearing about the snow storm, she upgraded our room to a better view. She also recommended a great restaurant for steak, Modes Bum Steer. The hotel is very clean, everyone is extremely gracious--we really enjoyed our time here.

Krista M.

Yelp
The room was nice and all of the staff was friendly! Breakfast is complimentary and basic but it gets the job done!

Jeremy C.

Yelp
Very nice hotel and staff is super friendly. I called the front desk around 9am the day of check and asked if I could check in super early due to covid restrictions at local hospital and with out hesitation they said yes and had my room ready for me by the time I got here. Definitely will be using this hotel in the future.

Krista V.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here for memorial weekend, the rooms are pricey but well worth it considering being on the beach! We got a partial view with a king bed and jacuzzi. We tried to change our room for the full view but they didn't have any more rooms which really made me upset but the partial view was still great! The staff was very nice and polite, no issues with them. The partial view rooms are on the sides of the building, The only down part is you can see people walking to the beach right outside your balcony so be careful if your naked in your room. The room was clean and the view was still great but I don't personally like all the mirror wall. The jacuzzi was HUGE ! Really nice jacuzzi, although every time anyone turned on their jacuzzi you can hear it from a mile away! Very loud. The beach is so nice, got to watch the sunset which was so beautiful! Definitely recommend coming here if you don't mind hearing jacuzzi noise on and off. The complementary breakfast was nice as well nothing special just a standard breakfast food like grab and go kinda thing.

John T.

Yelp
My family spent the Christmas holiday at the Bayshore, our first time there, and we could not have been happier. The staff was exceptional, the hotel was warm, comfortable, clean and really beautiful. We stayed in a suite and a regular two Queen. We had plenty of room for all. They have the most comfortable beds I have found in a hotel in years. Even the pillows were great. I am a coffee drinker, in the lobby they had fresh hot coffee choices at all times. If you needed an extra towel, soap or shampoo, the folks at the front desk responded with a great smile and would ask if there was anything else you needed? Very refreshing to be made to feel so welcomed and appreciated. We have stayed at a number of hotels and resorts in TC, in all seasons. We will not be staying anywhere but the Bayshore from now on. Bayshore, thank you for making our first Christmas together in two years so enjoyable and memorable. You folks are the best!

Magnus L.

Yelp
This is a really nice hotel. They have nice amenities like several tennis courts, a small gym, an in door pool and is right at the beach so you have beach access straight from the hotel. We had a room with a lake view which was amazing! The room also had a hot tub which was used quite a bit by our son. Everyone that works here were very nice, they acknowledge you and give you lot's of ideas on things to do if you ask them. They also like making a little small talk which makes the stay much nicer and it feels more personal. There are lot's of good restaurants and down town near by and it's easy to get to places nearby. CONS: The breakfast is a little boring and the wifi wasn't all that fast but when we were here all rooms were sold out and who comes here for blazing fast wifi anyway? We will definitely come back to this hotel if we come back to Travese City which I'm sure we will.

Sarah T.

Yelp
Excellent place to stay! Bayshore is right on the water and has a private beach area with tables/chairs and lounge chairs. There are also jet ski, boat and kayak rentals on site. The king size jacuzzi room was amazing! There was even a balcony with a view of the water. The room was clean and very big. It is also within walking distance of downtown TC. The front desk was extremely friendly and accomodating! The room came with a free breakfast which was not anything special - we ended up skipping that on the second day. That is my only complaint!

Kevin H.

Yelp
What a let down. Room was unclean and we could hear the road noise the short time we stayed. After initial complaint the staff referred us to the booking company and we were given a full refund. We could only stand to be in the room for 15 minutes. Would be 1 star but the staff was helpful with the refund.

Laura W.

Yelp
So far it's been good with a few minor misses. PROS: staff is awesome. Very personable and professional. Even in the halls with the facilities crew they too will acknowledge you and make small talk. This city is great for that. Bed is comfy. Shower pressure check - good. Plenty of room. We were on the "beach front" level. Read: basement. Lmao!!! It was ok. Not too bad. On site laundry facility. On site video arcade for kids. Overall very family friendly. Love housekeeping coming in early to turn the room around. They do a very nice job. The in room hot tub rocks. CONS: Wifi here is awful. Sorry gang. Just dreadful. You will get kicked off from time to time. Don't ask how long it's taken me to get this posted. Perhaps it's cause we are in the lower level though I moved to the outside shared deck on the water on the property same thing. Day one our commode clogged. Day two same thing. The upside is no overflow and maintenance was all over it both times. Asked if they could leave the plunger. Guess not. Day four guess who we ran into in the hall? Maintenance going to unclog another toilet. Seriously? Just upgrade these already. Highly discouraging. I'd stay here again. The location is perfect. The staff is awesome. Hate the wifi gig and toilet issue but it is what it is...I felt safe and liked my stay.

Mary D.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous place to stay. Perfect location and the amenities were over the top. From the beach in front of the hotel to the all inclusive hot and cold breakfast that was included. The view from our second floor balcony was amazing. Will definitely stay there again when in Traverse City.

Stacie M.

Yelp
We stayed here for Memorial Day weekend- we came wearing masks due to coronavirus. When we first walked in, we were surprised to see that not only were they not enforcing wearing masks- they were not practicing social distancing. We got to our room that was 375.00 a night- the view was amazing. We called to get sheets for the pullout bed- the person that brought them didn't even wear a mask. He said "there were only 8 cases in Traverse City so he would take his chances" Well, what if he was infected and was infecting people? The next morning, I called to tell them we were leaving for the day and asked if housekeeping could come. The gentleman working the front desk said "due to the virus, housekeeping will not be cleaning room until check out" I told him it didn't make sense considering people don't even wear masks in the hotel. We were supposed to stay for a week- needless to say, with no housekeeping and no enforcement of rules put in place to protect us and everyone around us- we checked out early. If Traverse City is worried about visitors bringing Covid-19, they should be more worried that Bayshore Inn is not doing anything to protect their guests

Andrea H.

Yelp
We've stayed here a couple years in a row now. This time we opted for a cheaper room with no view. Honestly, made little difference to us. The private beach area is nice and private to hotel guests. I will say I would hate to have a beach front room for the price as people would be feet outside of your room at all times. Clean hotel, awesome staff. Honestly nothing bad to say about our experiences.

Kelli W.

Yelp
Impressive from the parking lot and lobby, but my "beach level" (basement) room was dated and pretty uncomfortable. Your choices for getting off your feet are the bed or a straight-back chair. There's a little arcade which is nice if you bring kids. We came in the winter so I would imagine a lot of the appeal was lost since there was no beach fun for us this time. Check-in staff was very welcoming.

Cali D.

Yelp
Super nice hotel great staff except for 1. Was making breakfast and was unaware they were closing and a worker (white female with glasses and light brown hair) came and grabbed the waffle iron unplugged it and threw it up telling me "it won't cook" although they were finished cooking she continued to make rude remarks at each station I went to. I recommend she should not be working around guests.

Mark R.

Yelp
I was in Traverse City and came back to Bayshore. Again, they gave me a free upgrade to a better room - this time a beach front room. Staff were just as friendly and helpful as before. I am tempted to up them to 4 stars but, the breakfast is just too lacking. And, no coffee maker in the room? Boo! Yes, I paid off-season rates but, when I've stayed here during peak, still no coffee in the room and same breakfast...bleh... Hint: Want a high quality breakfast close by? Try the Happy Hog Cafe, just across the street!

N S.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY Incredible view on 3rd floor & so very quiet! Our son liked the game room. We would definitely go again! No microwave (which is really needed since Traverse City is fun, but everything is more expensive than most Midwest areas and without a microwave you can't reheat the delicious leftovers).

Tom S.

Yelp
Let's start with to get a room with a view it was way over priced. Spent the --- with tax and got up graded. But the real problem came when we went to go to bed and found cookie crumbs in the second bed.??? Yes they sent someone up but really. For the money we spent it needs update. Amenities are far from what we paid

Susan W.

Yelp
The hotel staff are rude and condescending. Expedia made an error regarding my reservation and attempted to get a refund for one night. Bayshore would not provide the refund. Most hotels would give a voucher to use within a year, but they didn't offer that either. The person at Bayshore said: "That's your problem with Expedia." Snarky attitudes and poor customer service.

Nicholas P.

Yelp
Overall good experience. Rooms could use a little updating but still clean. Beach connected to the resort was small but very nice. Don't count on getting too full from the tiny continental breakfast options. Staff was friendly and helpful. Indoor pool was perfect size for the size of the resort. Very close to downtown area and many good restaurants and shopping. Kid friendly.

Lisa V.

Yelp
The Bayshore Resort Hotel is one of the more expensive on the bay. I was disappointed that I left a beach cover-up on the balcony of my room. When I called to retrieve it housekeeping could not find it. It makes me wonder did housekeeping thoroughly clean the room, because if they did wouldn't they have found anything left on the balcony? In my opinion the front desk associate is lacking in his customer service skills and needs to have additional training. The Bayshore Resort has always been my go to hotel when I visit Traverse City. Not so much anymore.

Bedelia A.

Yelp
Not impressed for the cost of the room. "Resort" is not a true description of this place. No restaurant, no bar, only one snack machine on the basement/beach level. 1980's decor and plumbing. Sinks didn't drain. Thin towels and open closet area are more Super 8 and not resort. They say they are "Green", but water out of the sink was a torrent and not anywhere close to conservative.

Donna M.

Yelp
We stay yearly at the Bayshore - Every New Years Eve and several times throughout the year. We have always enjoyed our stay there and it is our favorite hotel. This year we booked a week at the Bayshore and were told the pool was under construction and wouldn't be available day 1 of our 5 day reservation. Yesterday (one week before arrival), I received a call that the pool is still under construction and would not be available during the time we reserved. With 2 kids looking forward to swimming daily - this was a HUGE disappointment for us. We called several other hotels in the area and finally we booked our stay at another hotel COSTING US DOUBLE due to the late reservation for the first week in April. I am really upset that nothing was offered for the inconvenience - like a future discount??? My husband and I scheduled this time off to spend with the kids. This vacation is now doubled in price but I didn't want to disappoint the kids. I will be contacting the BayShore in the future and will remind them of this inconvenience! Otherwise I gave it 4 stars because it IS our favorite hotel and we have been going there for YEARS! (Pre-covid = their breakfasts were awesome!!!)

Yelp
We were super excited to stay here, never have before and my father has and he told us we would love it. We stayed on the second floor. I did love the small stairs you can take instead of the elevator and the touch entry. Once we got to our room, I checked out the cleanliness because during COVID that's important to me. There were many stray hairs on the bathroom counter and shower, which is disgusting and made me second guess how clean the room actually was to the naked eye. The plumbing was awful. The shower took AT LEAST 5 minutes to heat up. The toilet kept clogging without any reason for it to be. The parking lot was miserable, some lines in it are barely visible so almost everyone was taking up two spaces, during one night coming back from dinner we almost couldn't find a spot. The pool was crowded Fri-Sun which was super annoying. And there were kids with no parents in sight running up and down stairs from 5pm-12am, so we could not rest or sleep. Not a great view from the room. Beds were comfortable & TV was great. We did love the mini fridge and two sink options. The grab and go breakfast was great as well! Overall I'd rate it a 5/10 for all the trouble we ran into. MIGHT stay here again in the future but would more than likely just get an Air BnB next time.

Yelp
Nice place and clean rooms, but this 5 star review is mainly dedicated to Lauryn at the front desk. Every time we came in she was working so hard, friendliest desk receptionist I've ever come across in all the years I've been staying at hotels and she really made our stay very welcoming and enjoyable. Thanks again!

Yelp
Room not clean spiderwebs all over the walls, not sanitized, long time waiting for the room to be ready, very expensive for the services they provide .

Yelp
This is our first time at this resort in Traverse City. The room was clean and everything was organized. The breakfast was great for a quick bite before going out to do some shopping. My wife really like the double sinks and the King size jacuzzi room. We would definitely stay here again. We are actually looking to book another weekend away up here perhaps in the summer. I know the kids would have a great time being so close to the beach and downtown and all. We love Traverse City and we will definitely be coming back to the Bayshore.

Yelp
Overall and enjoyable stay. The staff was nice, helpful, courteous. The pool area was so nice in the winter-- it was humid, warm, the hot tub was so relaxing. They also allowed us to bring a friend in, which was nice. Breakfast was dependable, and had decent options (sausage, omelet, waffles, cereal, fresh fruit, coffee, juice). There was stuff to make my own egg breakfast sandwich is was a nice start to the day. the location is great for traverse city, and it was must be even better in the summer. Finally, I appreciate the the hotel in general is fragrance-free, the bedding does not smell of artificial cleaners. There were fresh towels daily. Yes, the decor is dated, but that didn't bother me at all. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
I stayed here for three nights because I had a work assignment in Traverse City. They gave me a room on the parking lot side, but hey, I wasn't here for vacation, right? I would say the biggest pro was the speedy wifi without having to enter an access code. The internet was down for a few hours on one day, but they had their provider on site to fix it right away. Breakfast was nice...lots of variety. Then the not so nice part: This hotel is awesome if you like your average old fashioned hotel color combinations and furniture. The room was clean, but blah. No coffeemaker and no mini-fridge (you could rent the latter for $10 a day). After a long day of work, working until almost midnight, it would've been nice to come "home" to a nice cold one, but alas. The lobby was smelly and way over-sized. I think the smell had something to do with the pool that was next to the lobby, but it didn't smell like pool. Some technology-related stuff: Wherever I had my blackberry in a radius of 8 feet from the alarm clock, the alarm clock's speakers would make that annoying cell phone signal sound. I turned off the alarm clock to get rid of it. If you like to check your blackberry/iPhone, Droid or whatever while sitting on the toilet (and who doesn't?), be prepared for a free LSD trip. The tiled floor makes you dizzy when looking at your phone. As a place to stay for work this was pretty OK, except for the lack of coffee maker. When I return to Traverse City for a personal trip, I'll be sure to look for something better though.
