This is truly, by far, the worst experience my boyfriend and I have ever had together. We attended the Bayville Scream Park Halloween attraction. From beginning to end we went back and forth between being so irritated at the money we wasted for the high admission price and laughing at how horrible everything was. This place is a complete utter joke. I don't even know where to begin but I'll try my best to cover the most issues even though there were MANY.
For starters, we bought our tickets for a date a month ago. Then, the park emailed me to tell me they were closed and that we'd have to return on another date. We live 2.5 hours away and thought the online photos looked so awesome so we wanted to go on our one free day since we are rarely off. I explained that I didn't know if we can make it back, and the owner responded with an attitude saying too bad, no refunds. The website does say no refunds no matter what, so I can move past this. We were able to sneak it in on another date, several days ago. But if I'd known how horrendous this place was- trust me, we would've saved our gas and cut our losses.
For starters, the houses are all embarrassing. EMBARRASSING. The one we laughed the hardest in was definitely the Temple one. I am not exaggerating when I say: it was a dark barn like building with ENORMOUS puddles at every step you took. There were no props- yes you heard correctly- there were no props, no actors, nothing. Just puddles, and darkness. Oh and did I mention my boyfriend put his hand on the wall while walking and got pricked by a huge nail sticking out of it? At the end of the house, we saw one animatronic (that had nothing to do with a temple) and 1 actor that quietly said "ah". The other houses were definitely better than that one, but still almost 0 actors, and props are very spread out and not exciting. There were many safety concerns here and lawsuits waiting to happen. Let's not forget about the giant gaping hole in the ground that everyone must pass coming out of any house (they all pass by the same spot). The workers all see it, all night, and can't even bother to put a sign or caution tape
The "hidden bars". Oh boy. Yes we unfortunately spent extra money for the passes. The hidden bars would've been a fun concept if you offered more than 3 dirty drink coolers labeled drink 1, drink 2, and drink 3 on them. And then you charge extreme prices for that sugary weird concoction with barely any alcohol in them on top of the expensive pass?! INSANITY.
Workers were rude. No one wanted us to be there, and it was evident. In the haunted woods walk, there was once again minimal props and 0 actors. At the end we turned around and saw an actor talking to his friend. We took a few steps back hoping he'd scare us. He told us to "go away I'm getting ready". When leaving the park we saw a worker having an argument with someone and being very immature about it. At the diner, the cooks were outwardly talking about how annoying customers were in front of us and several other customers.
The arcade photos online show a red lit alley way with zombies and cool haunted games. The actual arcade is a small indoor outdated arcade that looks like one you'd see at any mall, any where.
We spent the entire drive home in disbelief that we'd reserved one of our rare free days for a $160 trip (just for admission) to the strangest and most boring sh** show we've ever seen in our entire lives.
In conclusion, there is absolutely NO reason you should be paying money to go here. There are SO many fun places to go this month. Please don't let them rip you off like they did us. They are scammers, and the endless safety violations prove that they're not just false advertisers, but they also don't value your safety.
The fact that you can take a trip to "Headless Horseman", a renowned and fantastic theme park for less than this dump speaks for itself. They are only here to rip you off.
