"If you usually only go to H Mart to grab a box of bb.q’s Korean fried chicken, good news: the chain now has a standalone location in Astoria, and it has a full bar. We’re looking forward to getting saucy fingerprints on our beer glasses, and hearing audible crunches from every table." - Will Hartman, Willa Moore

I was craving for some spicy Korean Chicken but also looking for halal food, that’s when I came across this place. Their boneless chicken is halal and the food can get very spicy if you want. Good place to try

I eat alot of Korean fried chicken, so I usually have a high bar for fried chicken places. The chicken here really surprised me with how good and crispy it can be! We had the spicy original, which has a lightly crunchy outer exterior while the chicken meat was juicy and tender inside. The ratio of skin to meat for each wing was perfect. I have a high spice tolerance, and it wasn't spicy at all to me, a max 1/5. We also had the soy garlic which was delicious- less sweet than at other Korean fried places but just as flavorful with umami sticky goodness. Can't wait to come back and try other flavors!

I wrote my original review during Fall 2024. I returned to the restaurant in Summer 2025 and they've made a lot of changes. The menu has been significantly condensed to appetizers, fried chicken, and sides. They no longer serve alcohol other than beer. The quality of the fried chicken is still the same but they've definitely downgraded other foods. Original Review: I went to bb.q Chicken Astoria with my boyfriend on a late Saturday afternoon. It wasn't that busy around 3-4pm and we were sat in a booth table right away. They have QR codes at each table where you can scan to order from your phone. Some sections also have outlets for convenience. We got the honey garlic wings, cheesling fries, side of white rice, and mango cocktails. Everything came out fresh and tasted really good. The chicken was super crispy on the outside and juicy, moist on the inside. You can really taste the garlic bits coated on the chicken skin. Personally, I prefer it over MFC. The cheesling fries are covered in a slightly sweet cheese powder - all the cheesy flavor without the heaviness.

Google
The inconsistency is what leads me to giving 4 stars instead of 5. The chicken is usually amazing, far better than something like buffalo wild wings, but sometimes they mess up the process along the way. I took pictures of the same order: we had a beautiful spicy galbi box and a sad, barely sauced box of spicy original. If I didn't want spicy sauce on my wings then I would've ordered something else. Please don't give customers something other than what they ordered and were expecting. The advertised photo of the spicy original had much more sauce on it.

Google
I ordered my food takeout so I didn’t see the atmosphere but the food was so good. I ordered the soy garlic wings and the spicy original wings. They were delicious thoroughly cooked juicy and well seasoned. I will definitely be ordering from them again and recommend people try it if they have not already done so.

Google
The chicken wings and the rose tteokbokki were fantastic - hot and savory! Also I was surprised by the amazing hospitality by the staff and manager!! I will definitely come back again and try out the other dishes on the menu! A++

Google
They confused my order, I asked for original wings and they gave me another flavor! When I returned 10 minutes after picking up my order, the cashier told me to come back around 5 because her manager was not there, I told her that she works there and that she should give me a solution to which she replied that she wanted me to do, I told her to give me a good order or my money back, to which she replied that she could not help me that she was alone I told her to right it in a paper to have a proof so they can give me my money back

Yelp
love the fact that this place just opened up near by and i no longer need to go to K town to get the fried chicken. this is a place where the food is always good. kinda sucks that they dont have the same wall of prepped food but honestly it does not matter considering it is made fresh and its o so worth the wait.

Yelp
The food is good - it's a Korean fried chicken chain after all, so of course they know how to make fried chicken! The service and ambiance is disappointing though. There's not much service at all: you scan a QR code to order through your phone, and you also pay from your phone. Instead of a server coming around to see if your meal is okay, you get an impersonal SMS asking you if you'd like to order another drink (which, of course, you have to do yourself, on your phone). I felt like I was at a McDonald's instead of a restaurant. I felt like I was at the DMV instead of a restaurant. That means they need fewer servers: there was one when I went. She was friendly and polite, gave me my food and refilled my water. There seemed to be other workers too, but they just milled around behind the bar, chatting with each other and handling one takeout order the entire time I was there. I'm not sure what's up with that. Unsurprisingly, the place was quiet on a Thursday night: maybe only two or three other tables had anyone at them. I felt bad seeing such a large restaurant being so quiet. I liked this place a lot when they first opened in the neighborhood (and when they had real people serving you), and I remember them being full at nights... but now the in-person experience is pretty bleak. Maybe I'll do takeout again, but at that point why not just go a few blocks east to Comfortland, you know?

Yelp
So it was the middle of the day it's raining cats and dogs and with a howling wind. I stopped by the restaurant with my coworker to grab some food. The restaurant is completely empty and we're seated quickly. We stop by the restaurant - we are seated - they asked us what we would like to drink would like you would love to have a beer. Two minutes later a gentleman comes up it's not working - we ordered sodas and kept it moving - we ask for wifi reply( We don't know it) - we place our order - 30 seconds we are scared by a big boom and they swing the front door open to get a delivery ( you have dollys and carts pulling supplies in while the rain and wind is howling) you know stuff like this happens but the stuff bringing the stuff in start all the supplies on the floor the wind is flowing in and we see it's getting worst with sound of staff , the smashing sounds and wind blowing dirty at our table it was time to go - we just open up our sodas and it's raining cats and dogs and we can't take out open bottles anymore so I asked them to please give us a new Coke as we didn't drink anything and to make our food to go - the manager comes by he says hey guys not a problem I know this has been an awful experience let me go ahead and take care of your meal We shake his hand we thank him, 20 mins later the food is brought out as the restaurant is still cold as can be with the rain and wind blowing in they also bring a check to us saying the manager said he would take care of it (manager I don't know how to remove the food you need to pay for it) This is such a funny story I can't even make this up. I'm excited to read the reply from the manager ( This place needs some real help)

Yelp
BBQ Chicken's newest location in Astoria has similar aesthetics to the one located in Ktown. It has a sort of minimalist cafeteria slash bar feel to it. There are various tv screens throughout the restaurants playing different sports and KPop music videos. As you enter, there are two kiosks where you can place orders for takeout. Very convenient. Inside there are plenty of tables and a small bar area. I love Korean BBQ chicken and have been to the Ktown location many times. This location has a very similar menu but does not have the convenient grab and go meals. Everything is made to order which means you'll find it is a bit of a wait to get your order. I came by during their first week of having opened and the place was popping. The kitchen could not get orders out fast enough. There were many people ordering take out at the kiosks. I ordered a small order of Soy garlic boneless chicken ($12.95), Fried Dumplings ($8.95) and Chicken Alfredo pasta ($15.95). The soy garlic chicken was tender with a light crunchy coating. Soy garlic flavor was mildly sweet. It was quite good. The dumplings were okay. Not as flavorful as I've had elsewhere but not bad. Paired it with some chili oil and it was jamming. The Chicken Alfredo was really tasty, and I was surprised by how much I liked it. The portion was really big and could easily be shared. It had slices of very tender boneless chicken and the Alfredo sauce was slightly garlicky and very cheesy. Overall, a very satisfying meal. So glad they finally opened and hope they do well.

Yelp
Happy to have this in Astoria! The wings are made to order here compared to their Ktown location where they also have a grab and go bucket. It will take about 15-20 mins for the wings to come out, but it's super fresh and piping hot! Decent size on the fries as well. Servers were very attentive and this is a large space. It was a little confusing when you first walk in because there are kiosks to the right which are just to order take out. You have to catch the contact with the servers and they'll seat you for dining in.

Yelp
So excited that there is finally a BBQ Chicken in Astoria. I used to make the trek to Koreatown for it and it wouldn't be as fresh by the time I got home an hour later. I came with a couple friends after our workout and everything happened in a really timely manner despite the restaurant being pretty full since it opened just a few days back. We got the half-half special sauce and original plus garlic soy and spicy sauce. We also got a Ddeok-Bokki with cheese which was absolutely perfect. They say it'll be 20-25 minutes to cook the chicken, but when in good company, time honestly seems to fly by. I have to say my favorite combo is probably original chicken and garlic soy chicken - the special sauce is good, but definitely on the sweet chili sauce side. The interior is pretty typical, though it is very clean since the restaurant just opened. Also the servers were really kind and attentive - extra napkins, taking plates away at a good time, etc... I don't expect half of these things, but they definitely went above and beyond. One thing to note is that the kiosks are take-out only. there's a huge label on them that somehow all three of us missed when we were about to order, but noticed and then took a seat to order normally. At least we knew what we wanted to order after mulling over it in front of a screen for so long. Overall, I'm really excited to have quality Korean fried chicken in Astoria and will be back whenever I can be. Definitely got that post-workout protein in, and in the most delicious way.

Yelp
Ordered: Small (8pc) Golden Original Wings (~$14) Small (8pc) Soy Garlic Wings (~$14) French Fries (~$6) Aya's take: I love me some Korean fried chicken! This is one of the better additions to 30th Ave in a long time! bb.q chicken is famous for their fried chicken and I'm here to tell you that it's for good reason. The Golden Original Wings were juicy and tender on the inside yet light and crispy on the outside. The Soy Garlic Wings were savory with a mild tang of garlic. Out of the 2 types we ordered, the Soy Garlic Wings is the real winner! Whatever you do, get the Soy Garlic flavor. I would actually skip the Original next time and order their flavored wings as that's where most of the flavor is. The French Fries were pretty basic unlike other Korean fried chicken places I've been to. Service was efficient although we found ourselves asking them numerous times for some items (i.e., water, napkins, pickled radish); I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since they just recently opened. Overall, it absolutely hit the spot and I'm hoping they start doing lunch specials!

Yelp
Crispy wings, perfect for a Friday night comfort meal! 1 baskets is enough for 2 people.

Yelp
I love Korean Fried Chicken so I was excited when this place opened. They have a wide variety of sauces. I tried the secret sauce which had 1 flame for the level of spiciness. It does have a mild kick but it ends with a sweet note. The honey garlic wings were my favorite. Next time, I'll try the two flame wings .The portions are very filling and the fries are big enough to share. I like that the benches have outlets to charge your phone/electronics if needed. They also have kiosks so you can order out if needed.

Anisha P.

Yelp
I ordered the honey garlic wings and spicy wings- they were delicious! The honey garlic wings were so dreamy! The wait time was very short contrary to the several reviews complaining about wait time. Excited to have Bb.q Chicken here in Astoria and don't need to get my Korean Fried Chicken fix in Ktown!

Cindy K.

Yelp
I'm so pumped that my favorite chicken place opened in my neighborhood! I ordered from here a few times and the quality has always been A-1 supreme. The quality, taste, presentation is done beautifully! I cannot recommend this place more with a higher regard. As I'm writing my review I'm about to order from them through uber eats! Thanks for being so awesome!!

Maggie C.

Yelp
Excited for bb.q chicken's newest location in Astoria! My friends and I went here shortly after grand opening for their crispy and juicy wings, fries and rose tteokbokki, and it DID NOT disappoint! The food was all so amazing and as expected since I've had their chicken and fries from other locations in NY. the rose tteokbokki is a must, so creamy and flavorful, and such a step up from the classic gochujang base. I just wish they allowed you to mix and match sauces, and had combo meals... The only thing that surprised me was the overall dining experience. Although service was great, I thought they lacked some key features such as gloves and mini bin to discard bones without creating a mess, and since other KFC restaurants offer these dine-in amenities. I would like to recommend having these as it would promote a positive dining experience. Overall though, the food and service were great!

Yelp
Well what a joy to have another Korean Fried Chicken place in Astoria! It's cozy and clean, though i wish it had more booth type of seats too. I've been there quite a few times already to the point the gentleman server knows my face haha. Anyways, the first time I went in I got a batch of the Soy Garlic wings which Is usually my go to for a KFC place. They were absolutely delicious! Savory and ridiculously crunchy with a nice side of radish to balance it out. The second time I went with a friend and we stayed for quite a while lol. We tried the Galbi wings which were decent but a little...odd(?) as well. We also tried the Golden Original (the classic!) and the Honey Garlic. The original had a wonderful flavor and was extremely juicy/crunchy. It's basically the standard of how a good piece of KFC should be! The Honey Garlic however...oh my. These turned out to be my favorite! That sweet flavor with a hint of savory garlic was delicious!! The next time I passed by I got the Secret Sauce flavor and I think these would be my second favorite (golden original is not far behind). They were sweet and tangy which I loved. However, they are so saucey that it can get a bit messy haha. Whenever I walk in for an order now, I alternate between the Honey Garlic, Original and Secret Sauce. If BB.Q Chicken maintains this quality, it will be amazing. I hope they do! Now we just need an AYCE Korean BBQ in Astoria as well and it'll be heaven on Earth! Edit: P.S - I hope Bb.q considers offering wet naps for dine in customers at some point as those delicious saucey wings can get messy as I mentioned, haha

Yelp
I was planning to review a couple of Yemeni restaurants on Steinway Street, but as I was full at the last minute, I thought I would try BBQ Chicken Pub -the Korean BBQ fast-food restaurant This eatery was literally pumpin'. On one side, large TV screens with music videos, and behind the counter on the other side, they were showing College Football Games. Most of the tables were taken, and yes they get +1 for atmosphere. The pub was humming with activity. Now what to order. I wasn't fully up to date on all the Korean BBQ choices and settled on the Honey Garlic Boneless Wings. They were full of flavor and tasted even better the following day. I added some blue cheese dip left over from the Oven from the previous day. I ordered 8 wings and a can of coke a price of a little over $21. They made a mistake and gave me two Cokes as I was drinking one already provided, so I'm not complaining. Though the seating is not as comfortable as Mad for Chicken, the wings are better, and this pub really rocks, with much more atmosphere.

Yelp
My bf has been eagerly awaiting for them to open up! We finally got to try it during their opening weekend. As usual, Korean fried chicken can take a bit of time to come out, but it's well worth the wait! The chicken sandwich I got was so crispy and juicy. The drink menu was also fun and interesting but didn't get to try it this time around. They don't have a grab and go section like in Koreatown but it's still pretty easy to order ahead and pick up your meal!

Yelp
I went to this place on 12/18/23 @ 8:35, I went in sat down, I seen someone had posted there grand opening, I figured it's right in the neighborhood let me go check it out, I was excited to go, I have to say I got the secret sauce chicken, 8 pieces it was horrible as I write this review my stomach is messed up, the staff showed zero hospitality, I had to get up and ask for things, they ran out of French fries, the onion rings I had were under cooked, the beer I had tasted stale, not once did anyone ask if I needed anything, I asked for blue cheese and they charged me for it, a big franchise like Buffalo Wild Wings doesn't charge you for that, the food is way over price I give the food a 1 out of ten the only thing that was good was the sauce, I had a horrible experience and will never go back, for 8 pieces of chicken, onion rings and beer it came out to $35 dollars never again

Brian S.

Yelp
Love this chicken. Extremely tasty and flavorful with the perfect crispy outside and juicy inside. It can be a bit expensive, but I think it's worth it. It can be busy and the inside feels more like a Chipotle than any restaurant. I once ordered pickup, came home and realized the order was wrong. I walked back, and they sat me at the bar and offered my wife and me a free drink while we waited for the correct food. I definitely appreciated their willingness to correct the mistake.

Nina D.

Yelp
Wow! Over 5 stars. Food was ready for takeout in 20. We ordered Cheesling Fries, Kimchi Fried Rice, Gangnam Boneless and Soy Garlic Boneless Chicken The chicken was crispy, seasoned and cooked perfectly. Kimchi Fried Rice was delicious and the sweet Cheesling fries were slightly sweet and so good. Fast and professional service, clean and tidy location. Loved it! We'll definitely be back for more!

Yelp
On my daily commute, I have often walked past the new location on 30th Avenue and thought the food looked great. I recently ordered some boneless fried chicken and steamed rice but when our order arrived, we saw that we had received the incorrect delivery. Understandably, this happens occasionally and is typically not a cause for concern. I called the restaurant to share that we'd received the wrong order, that it seemed likely that someone else received our order, and asked if our correct order could be re-fired and delivered. The first person I spoke with was very understanding and kind, saying they were sorry for the mistake and could definitely re-fire the order and get it out to us ASAP. I was asked to wait as this person determined what the kitchen/management wanted us to do with the incorrect order. Then an assistant manager took over the call and said the restaurant could not send the correct order because it would cost them too much to send another delivery person and it would take too long to cook the food again. Then the assistant manager said, "It' sounds like you are hungry, so you should go ahead and have the food that was delivered." I was stunned that someone would behave in such an insulting way after having made this kind of error with a delivery. It's disappointing to have the restaurant management show so little empathy for a situation that was entirely their own responsibility to correct. I wish them well, but will not be ordering from this place again.

Megan E.

Yelp
Extremely slow and incredibly awkward service. The food was actually good but the staff definitely needs customer service training.

Brian W.

Yelp
Best Korean fried chicken I always get regular with bones Never been to the Astoria store but been to the 2 in Manhattan Authentic Korean establishment that you can see on the k dramas the king, the eternal monarch and the goblin

C K B.

Yelp
I always went to K town and having this in my neighborhood is perfect. The food is good and I miss the Bulgolgi Tatertots.

Ami P.

Yelp
So I contacted through the link provided as I was advised by the owner of Yelp's comment. And all I heard was that they can't refund orders made on apps. At this point, I don't know why I was told to reach out to them and how they can't show any hospitality.

Melissa S.

Yelp
I'm not even a picky eater but this Korean fried chicken was terrible. Felt like plastic, the boneless wings looked so deformed and in a weird shape and had all types of color meat in it. The staff was also very sparing when we asked for napkins, they gave us like 2 napkins and it was only two people. Hot sauce was an extra charge. The table didn't have any condiments on it. Would not recommend.
