Good food, but very expensive, and ready far before ETA.
I live very close to this restaurant, but I work downtown. Twice now, I have ordered online, being given an ETA that's at least 40-50 minutes out. This is the perfect amount of time for me to get out of work, get to my car, deal with crazy downtown and LSD traffic, try to find parking on Bryn Mawr, and getting to the restaurant ideally right when the food is about to be finished so that it's still hot. But both times now, they literally have the food ready in 15 to 20 minutes instead of the estimated 40, and then I find myself racing like a maniac to try to get there to a very expensive bag full of barely warm food that's cold by the time I can sit down to eat it. I know it might seem like a weird complaint that food is ready ahead of schedule, but sometimes people order things with a certain ETA based on when they know they can get there to pick it up.
The food itself is mostly very good (but the Cheesling wings are weird - they taste more like powdered sugar than cheese - and yes, I'm aware that the Korean idea of cheesy flavor is very different from that of the Western world), and they seem to have established a successful company that's now expanding internationally. I do wish, though, that it were cheaper. On both occasions, I have ended up spending close to $50 on a meal that I was able to finish by myself with no leftovers, and I known people with much bigger appetites than myself. Eight smallish wings for $15 is a bit exorbitant. The boneless wings, though slightly cheaper, can be eaten in a single bite. I can't even bring myself to order delivery with how much more it ends up costing between delivery fees and a tip for the driver. Over $60 for a single meal for one person? Come on. This is basically Asian fast food.
Larger portions, lower prices, and having food ready at the time it's expected would really make this place a lot more attractive. I can't really bring myself to recommend this place and I have felt like I've flushed a huge amount of money down the toilet both times I've ordered from here. There are other Korean fried chicken places in town, and I think this place needs to stop thinking that they're such a novelty and so unique that they can continue with the crazy high prices.
