"BBQ Supply Co. doesn’t make the best barbecue in Chicago, but they do have very good brisket. So order that, and make sure to go heavy on the sides as well - they’re fantastic, particularly the custard-filled cornbread and truffle mac and cheese." - adrian kane

"The second location of the rebranded “Rub’s Backcountry Smokehouse,” now called BBQ Supply Co. It’s not the best barbecue in Chicago, but it’s good enough if you’re in Hyde Park and want a casual meal of St. Louis-style ribs. Go heavy on the sides here - they’re fantastic, particularly the custard-filled cornbread and truffle mac and cheese. Of course, both those things are heavy, and will do absolutely nothing to break up the richness of the BBQ. We don’t really care, though, and neither should you." - Adrian Kane

They seemed a little short staffed when we went at 2pm on a Saturday, BUT, the food was delicious and the service was quick! Three tacos was a massive amount of food and the pulled pork wasn’t fatty or dry - huge plus for me! They were out of the cornbread unfortunately so we will need to go back and try that!!

Went to BBQ Supply for a quick bite, and was NOT disappointed. Disclaimer: If you are looking for traditional CHICAGO BBQ that is drenched in sauce, this is not the place for you. BBQ Supply is a Texas Style BBQ restaurant, down to the Texas Caviar and Texas toast. I ordered the rib tips and sweet potato tots. The rib tips were sooo meaty and flavorful. Didn't' really need sauce, but they have their own sauces for to try. My favorite was the Sweet Savory...and the Citrus Chipotle. I can't wait to go again.

Nice place in Hyde Park. Small menu but solid offerings. The Bomber is great. Brisket and ribs were on the dry side (brisket was unusually lean). I heard the brisket burger is good. Sides are substantial in amount (fries are good, pit beans ok). It’s not your KC or Memphis BBQ but it’ll work for a stop in Chicago.

Best BBQ I've had in a long time. The sweat tea made me think of down south. I would recommend this place as being a "must stop" shop for sure. Rock on!

The experience, hospitality and food was AWESOME!!!. I had the rib tips with devil egg potato salad and coleslaw. Worth the trip for sure.

Food was Texas style BBQ. Really good. Creative menu for a BBQ joint. My family lobed the rib tips, wings and the custard cornbread (which I never had) was like crack. We couldn't get enough. Service was good and attentive. I would suggest they keep 2 waiters on the floor though. Which they did later I saw. Overall great place.

I had high hopes when I heard a new BBQ place had open in Hyde Park. I walk in, the decor very nice! Clean modern in style. The location perfect! The service exceptional! And that was the highlight of my experience, the food was not what I expected. I had the rib tips & sausage with truffle mac and cheese. Let me start with the Mac and cheese, just because you add truffle doesn’t make it good. The sausage, they slice it for you which was ok, but it was COLD. The rib tips, I’m a Chicagoan and I’ve been to many rib joint in the city, some you dine in others just a hole in the wall, that being said taste is very important. Good BBQ is when you don’t need sauce, theses tips had no flavor and were tough as leather, I just stop eating them because they were way to tough. The person I was with had the pulled pork, it was so dry and COLD , she said maybe if I take it home and nuke it, maybe it will taste better. I still would try BBQ supply one more time, maybe I just had a bad batch .

I moved to Chicago from Georgia which is, depending on who you ask, the cradle of barbecue in the country. BBQ Supply does not disappoint. We had the pulled pork tacos and brisket burger, both of which were very good. I would like to see collard greens on the menu for a side one day. I will be coming back here! Update: We returned yesterday and were not disappointed. Excellent service and great BBQ. Recommend the Brisket Burger.
