Ireland Is Now One of the Best Places to Visit for Seafood Lovers

"A Tramore beachfront restaurant on the lower floor of a Victorian home where a handwritten daily menu highlights the catch of the day with simple accompaniments like brown butter, salsa verde, or aioli; run by Peter Hogan and Jumoke Akintola (who previously opened a cult Fish Shop in Dublin), the kitchen favors fast-fried fillets with a tempura-like crunch and works closely with Kilmore Quay day-boat skippers who supply brill, plaice, red mullet, John Dory, and brown crab." - Taras Grescoe

"Situated enviably close to the beach in a small seaside town on Ireland's south coast is a double-fronted Victorian residence looking out over an attractive garden – and in the basement, its owners lovingly run this sweet bistro. The concise menu of classic, flavour-packed dishes understandably gives seafood prime billing; the fish and chips is one of the best versions of the dish you can find, with super-fresh fish that changes depending on the day's catch, served with perfectly crisped chips. The cellar wine list has some interesting vintages." - Michelin Inspector

Lovely spot, had the fish and chips and the better was light and beautiful, with perfectly cooked fish. The tartare sauce was also lovely.

Lovely atmosphere, excellent service. The food was simple, delicate, perfection. Easily the best fish and chips in recent memory. Fresh well balanced salad. Tasty chips. I wish I had the opportunity to try the lemon sole and really everything else, it looked delicious.

Beautiful, cosy, incredible, delicious! Worth a 2h right away from Dublin! I chose this little family-owned restaurant for my birthday and couldn’t have guessed more with my choice. We took everything there was on the menu that day - delicious. You can feel the freshness of ingredients and the real passion for cooking in the dishes. The menu changes every day so it’s always a surprise (a pleasant one!) Also, the plum cake brought me memories from childhood - that was simply amazing. A real hidden gem!

The Beach House is the kind of fish restaurant that we need more of in Ireland! The menu changes depending on what’s fresh and when dished up it’s with simplistic elegance. We were a party of four and had oysters, lobster, crab bisque, cured gurnard, red mullet and John Dory. Each dish was delicious! The bread comes from the Seagull Bakery around the corner and it’s the perfect accompaniment for the food. The restaurant itself is relaxed and has lovely views out into the garden. Definitely recommend!

I've been hearing about the Beach House for some years and was always slightly frustrated by the funny opening hours, lunch only from Thursday to Sunday. The cheek of them only opening when it suits them! Finally got a lunch date on a Friday. Three words describe the experience Fab U Lous. Probably the best fish and chips I've had in living memory. The freshest of fish in the most delicate batter guarded by real home cut crispy chips. Simple, pure and superb in equal proportions. We had the Hake and Lemon Sole and still talking about it. A box to be ticked.

Excellent food in a lovely setting. Casual, but top class. Super fresh fish. The crab and courgette fritters our favourites. We'll worth a trip to the seaside!
