"When tiki historian Jeff Beachbum Berry opened this oh-so-fun upscale lounge in the Quarter in 2014, the cocktail world rejoiced. This is one of the best bars in New Orleans — with dozens of resurrected tiki drinks on the menu, from Sinatra’s favorite sipper to crazy communal wonders." - Eater Staff, Beth D'Addono
"When tiki historian Jeff Beachbum Berry opened this fun upscale lounge in the Quarter in 2014, the cocktail world rejoiced. The award-winning bar program from the leading authority on tiki culture features dozens of resurrected tiki drinks, from Sinatra’s favorite sipper to crazy communal wonders. The cool, laid-back atmosphere and in-the-know staff have made it a favorite in the local service industry, as well as attracting national attention from entities like Tales of the Cocktail and Miracle Christmas, which has partnered with Berry for the now-annual Sippin’ Santa pop-up." - Clair Lorell
"Latitude 29 is a tiki bar and restaurant created by the man often credited with repopularizing tiki bars—and yes, his nickname is Beachbum. The lights are dim but colorful, and there’s lots of Polynesian tiki decor, but you’d never know this by looking from the outside. Rum drinks are obviously the way to go: the buttery Pearl Diver and honey and ginger-spiced Hawaii 504, in particular. The food is way more than your typical tiki bar stuff, too. We’re talking about coco shrimp served with coconut condensed milk and cucumber salad, and grilled pandan-marinated pork with pickled chilies and fish sauce caramel. We like sitting at the bar because we’ve actually made friends with strangers in the past (and even split a couple of plates)." - Megan Braden-Perry
"Beachbum Berry’s Hawaiian-influenced spot on the edge of the Quarter runs on imagination and rum. The elaborate and inventive drink menu includes a killer Mai Tai and the Navy Grog (Sinatra’s go-to tiki drink)." - Eater Staff
