"Located at Cahoon Hollow Beach in a former lifesaving station built at the end of the 19th century, it’s a restaurant, bar, and all-around scene. While the inevitable crowds can be a bit of a drag, both the food and extremely efficient service justify the wait for a table: Few things are more pleasurable than sitting at the outside bar and scarfing a platter of ice-cold oysters, followed by some fat steamers dredged in melted butter and a crispy fried clam roll or two." - Rebecca Flint Marx

We come by every year, not that y'all need a google review to vouch for you! greatest bar tenders around, lucky enough to get a seat facing the water if you can. I do wish that the hours were communicated better online since we had to call to figure it out but we had a blast anyways.

I went for the food. Quite a busy place at lunch time for a Wednesday. You 'pay to park' $30 (cash) but you get a voucher for $30 towards t-shirts or food (no alcohol) kind of a tight fit to park, especially for bigger vehicles. I sat at the bar cause it was just me. Service was ok, did get overlooked here and there probably cause I wasn't in the mood to drink. I just got 2 apps. Which were pretty pricey, I get MP and being seafood but $45 for a small dish of fried WB clams and fried scallops?

Just drove an hour here to check it out for the first time and they wanted $30 just to park… at 1PM on a Tuesday. Would have loved to enjoy my day off with a drink or two at the bar, but they lost my business with that stunt.

Dismissive & gaslighting staff. For some background: I grew up in Chatham & have been going to the beachcomber since before I can remember; now I’m active duty stationed overseas & I finally got some leave with my girlfriend. We made sure to call for the hours (at 9:00am today) because we have a time crunch. They said they would be closing at 10:00am & reopening at 11:00am. Perfect. We reconfirmed that we heard the hostess correctly & hung up. When we got there at 10:55, the staff completely ignored us as we waited for them to finish their conversation. I said “excuse me, what time do you open?” They replied “11:30” when I mentioned that we had called earlier & had been told 11:00, they said “oh, you must have heard wrong… do you want to buy a shirt or something?” I can’t convey their attitude in a review but I would describe it as condescending & dismissive. It’s saddening to be treated that way in a place I’ve had such cherished memories.

Amazing experience overall. Lots to like here, the location is perfect, right on the beach, there are plenty of seating areas, both inside and out. One of the outside areas is dog friendly so that was great for us. Most importantly perhaps, the food was perfect. All seafood dishes were very fresh and mouthwatering, we also had a few non seafood items and those tasted great too. We will definitely be back next time we're in the cape.
