The Essential Guide to Cape Cod, Massachusetts

"A ramshackle, dune-perched restaurant and live-music venue where summer nights revolve around dancing, oysters, and rum-forward cocktails like the Goombay Smash; despite changing dune conditions and variable parking, it remains a rite-of-passage spot for locals and visitors seeking a high-energy Cape Cod summer night." - Cameron Sperance

Where to Get a Cape Cod Fish Sandwich That’s Better Than Filet-O-Fish - Eater

"Located at Cahoon Hollow Beach in a former lifesaving station built at the end of the 19th century, it’s a restaurant, bar, and all-around scene. While the inevitable crowds can be a bit of a drag, both the food and extremely efficient service justify the wait for a table: Few things are more pleasurable than sitting at the outside bar and scarfing a platter of ice-cold oysters, followed by some fat steamers dredged in melted butter and a crispy fried clam roll or two." - Rebecca Flint Marx

Haven’t been in 15 years and went for this past Labor Day weekend. This place is magical and is still amazing, one of the best bars in the northeast very easily. Such good summer vibes, music, drinks, and solid fish oriented pub food. Location is unbeatable. Tucked away in protected national seashore, not built up unlike over run Jersey shore.

The food was great. My picky son exclaimed, "the best mozzarella sticks ever!" My tuna taco was good, but needed some additional sauce. The seafood was fresh and delicious. It gets hot inside, but we were lucky to get a table outside. Excellent service!

THE beach restaurant on the Cape. Tons of people, yet not too too long of a wait. Quality food, portions, and pricing--all three are fair. Efficient and kind service with a vast menu. Parking is paid, but this pay then gets taken off of your check (no additional money). Outdoor and indoor bars and tables. The best atmosphere a beach bar could have. Outdoor seating under a tent, plenty of bathrooms, and a unique layout. It's awesome.

Very unique and cool spot to stop for a drink and a bite. They charge for parking but you get a voucher that can go towards your meal. The views are awesome! I had the painkiller and the scallop Caesar and thought both were great.

Waited 1 hour for a table of 9- including 5 kids. Wait was fine and kids could play in the waiting area near hostess, or we could walk down to beach. The views and hype is real - the inside is quirky and beach vibey, all the staff was overly kind and accommodating. Was a little disappointed in my dish (fish tacos). They were fine, just I expected more. Everyone seemed happy with theirs though and I would Give another try just for the experience!

Came back in last night and our family had an amazing night out. From waiting for our table on the patio overlooking the ocean with a cocktail, to the oyster shooters and steamers, to all of our entrees, everyone enjoyed their meal, the views, and the atmosphere. A cape cod staple that we will continue to visit every time we’re up on the cape.

My friends and I take a day trip down to Wellfleet every summer so we’ve been to the Beachcomber numerous times. We have always had a blast but this year I’m sorry to say was less than stellar. It’s true that the parking situation is horrific and the staff will often put the sign up saying lot full when in fact there is still space. That a side the service this year is really what caused my 3 star review. We were a larger group about 9 of us total looking to end the day with a bite and a drink. The staff was adamant that we couldn’t get a table unless every person was ordering an entree and brought it up mutiplw times prior to seating us. We ended up splitting into 2 smaller groups (those who were eating and those that weren’t) which wasn’t the end of the world by any means but not what we were hoping for needless to say. When we sat down at the table the waitress again said we couldn’t be here unless everyone was ordering an entree which we again confirmed that was the case. It was a busy day and I get that can be overwhelming for the staff but it the multiple reminders of needing to get an entree was off putting and left us all confused. Obviously it makes sense that the restaurant wants to prioritize patrons who are eating to get the tables but I think to force everyone at the table to get an entree in order to sit is a bit much. With all that said in years past I have enjoyed my trips to the beachcomber however think they need to tone down their messaging on that topic as it is a bit much from my experience.

Beware of the parking scam they charge you $30. cash only for parking & give you a voucher , make sure you remember it , because none of the servers or bar tenders will ask for it , they all know you have to pay to park . Usually a 45 minute minimum wait more like an hour , so after being served you have been there another hr. easy , the chances of remembering to redeem the parking voucher is slim. Since parking is cash only makes me wonder what the hidden cash adds up to??
