"While not directly on the waterfront, Beachside Seafood Restaurant and Market remains a Jacksonville Beach favorite. Just two blocks from the ocean, the upper floor offers sea views. Besides seafood, the restaurant is best known for its loaded cheesesteaks, garnished with grilled peppers, onions, and cherry pepper relish. After dining, check out the seafood market inside the restaurant to take home some fresh catch to make later in the week." - Megan duBois

Google
Great little place with a casual vibe and lots of seafood options. We went for lunch. We started with fried pickles (yum!). The special was Trigger fish and we opted for the sandwich (versus served as tacos or a wrap) and grilled (other options were blackened or fried). The fish was a huge portion (at least 8 oz) that’s not obvious in the photos. Each main dish came with 2 hush puppies—we’d never had those. The crinkle-cut fries were meh. We also got diver scallops that were large and excellent, cooked perfectly, not overdone, seasoned well, with lots of lemon wedges, and very inexpensive. The server brought out so many chilled sauces, from ketchup to cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, as well as remoulades/aioli’s. Beer/wine only. The restaurant is upstairs without any obvious wheelchair access.

Google
We had a wonderful experience at Beachside Seafood. We had seafood quesadilla, cherry bomb, seafood burrito, french fries, and crawfish. You can really taste the freshness of the seafood. The sauces were all amazing too. Excited for the new owners’ plans for the restaurant and market!

Rebecca

Google
The seafood was amazing!!! We both got king crab and I got the steamer that also included shrimp, mussels and clams. Our server was friendly and helpful. The only problem we had with our experience was there was not a 2-top table available upstairs in the screened porch area where I wanted to sit for the view. The girl working up there acted as if it was impossible. Paying that much for our tab, I should have been able to sit upstairs with the view. But with the way that girl acted our service probably would not have been as good as what we got with the lady downstairs.

Google
Good experience at this restaurant today came with sister both of us had the fish fingers basket with coleslaw fries and hush puppies. Fish fingers were delicious and we had a great server named Victoria.I would recommend this place for a casual nice meal.

Mike Harrison

Google
The food 🍤 🐟 was very good ( wife and myself) we shared a two portion fried basket. Fish and shrimp. The coleslaw was bland not much flavor. The key lime pie was tart :) and good.

Google
I enjoyed the location. If you are able to take the stairs it's best to sit upstairs. There are limited low tables. I felt that the food was bland and over priced. The service was a redeeming factor.

Google
We came from the beach and wanted to stop by to get some great seafood and we were absolutely satisfied by the service, the food and the cleanliness of the place. Hayden our server was very patient with walking us through the menu. He recommended the burrito and my husband (who's Mexican and very critical of burrito) absolutely loved it. I would absolutely recommend this spot! Will be coming back

Google
Beachside has been one of our favorites since we moved beachside more than a decade ago. We’re excited about the improvements the new owners are bringing because Kim, the best server ever, is excited!

Yelp
I have lived in the beaches area and have never visited. My friend and I bellied up to the bar and were greeted by a very busy server/bartender. We choose our libations and reviewed the menu. We both choose a fried shrimp and oyster basket. It was delicious. The service was good. If you ever go be kind to those upstairs servers they get a workout every shift!

Ashley S.

Yelp
This was one of my top 10 picks in the Beach. Since moving we haven't been as much. But we drove into the beaches for the Grandbabys birthday. Excited to eat there we skipped the pizza and snacks at the party. Ordered over the phone we like the fish burrito so hence our order and a side of the Remoulade sauce. Got there had to add 2 sweet teas the lady that helped us was fantastic. Like I said this place has been my top 10 for years. Order was wrong it wasn't fish it was shrimp. Nevermind they charged me over $9.00 for the mango sauce. Which is good. But don't order for take out it not even half what you get when you are there. I digress. We were on our way home and it wasn't worth turning back for $50.00 a plus they didn't charge me for the sweet teas. The wife didn't even finish her burrito it was so not what we order. Me I'm a garbage can I finished mine it was good but not the same, so yes we have now removed our beloved spot from our top ten and are looking for a new spot for in the future. Just time to try something new I guess.

Yelp
Omg!!!!! I am so glad that we tried this place! We got to the restaurant around the time that it opened so we were able to get a seat outside on the deck overlooking the water. The seafood was so fresh and the service was great! My husband got the grouper sandwich and it came with so much fish. We ordered a kids shrimp which was delicious as well as a kids grilled cheese. Everything was so tasty!!! Their pink sauce is so yummy. I wanted to dunk everything in it!

Yelp
I haven't been to Beachside Seafood in Jax Beach for a while and thought today was a good day to try it again. For the app, we got the Smoked Fish Dip. This is probably the best fish dip I've had in a minute. Fresh made daily, it's cool and refreshing. Spritz that lemon slice on it and it's about as perfect as can be. This dip is the Truth. Now the Seafood burrito I got for the main...meh. It's bay scallops, shrimp, and crab meat, topped with cheese, wrapped in a tortilla and grilled. It was underseasoned. Some Old Bay or salt/pepper/garlic powder would've been great. The burrito did come with chips and salsa and I ordered a mango salsa on the side so those very much saved the day. But the burrito on its own...meh. Definitely go to Beachside Seafood and try the fish dip. Your mileage may vary on the rest of the menu.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch and it was amazing! The server, can't remember her name was great and answered all our questions. The food was great and I really recommend the crab dip. No complaints, perfect late lunch. We'll be back again for sure.

Mike A.

Yelp
Had a great lunch recently at Beachside Seafood in JAX Beach! It was the quintessential idea of a small seafood restaurant that serves large portions and is super laid back and right by the beach. It was both comfortable and had an upbeat vibe, and there was plenty of options to choose from on the menu. I got a blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich and it was well cooked and served with about a half pound of fries. The service was quick and friendly, and we all in all enjoyed! Give it a try !

Nancy L.

Yelp
Yes we went Tues for dinner it was closed it clearly says on their website they are open

Rachel D.

Yelp
Definitely your go to place if you are craving seafood. If you're craving yummy southern styled fried seafood this is the go to place. Definitely cute and beach like. beach side seafood consists of an upper level open area that kinda looks like a tropical wooden treehouse. we went at night so they had cute tiki mini lantern lights at top. I felt like I was in the Bahamas with the breeze. Food was good and the servers were helpful. We got the seafood platter which had big portions and can serve up to three people. Definitely it was good but nothing can set it apart from other seafood restaurants so it was good but not spectacular. I do love the cool ambience and it's pet friendly as there are tables where you can bring your fur babies. .

Miriam C.

Yelp
First of all, Kayla is the shit. She was hilarious, attentive, informative, and thoughtful. We started with the crab dip and mussels. It took a little bit to get the apps, but we didn't care. We were having fun with family! They were both hot and delicious when they got to the table. Fried grouper sandwich with Cajun ranch was delicious!!!!!! The bun was so yummy, tomato fresh, and fish fresh! The fries were crispy and hot! Great seasoning! My hubby got the oyster po boy and the portions were huge! My sis in law enjoyed the shrimp! We had such a great time and Kayla really made our day!

Yelp
When you visit a city on are near the Ocean seafood is a must. And this quaint spot doesn't disappoint. I've had several dishes here and the flavorful entrees are consistently fresh and well prepared. I like their shrimp and Mahi selections- fried, broiled, blackened - always great.

Audrey A.

Yelp
It was my first time eating here. Food was good. Seafood was certainly fresh and the stone crabs were a treat since I haven't had those in over a decade. Ambiance is what you would expect from a seafood market/restaurant- downstairs was kind of a dive but not an issue for us. I thought upstairs was open and just a closed off patio, but it is air conditioned, casual and has a laid back atmosphere. Service was great and attentive. I think they could use more outdoor seating. Also would have liked more grilled or blackened options for the basket.

Pam G.

Yelp
Great food and service. Fresh from the ocean. The blackened shrimp were excellent. We even drove out of our way to return. Nothing fancy. Just good food at a good price. Can't go wrong.

Rick P.

Yelp
Friend came from landlocked Canada and wanted fresh seafood. Started off with a dozen each oysters on the half shell. Make sure you ask for the red datil pepper sauce. Little lemon, little horseradish and bit of red datil pepper sauce. Oyster were nice sized too Simon got the crabcakes with a salad and hush puppies, with baked potato. Add a little remoulade sauce to it and he said it was pretty good. I got the mahi mahi, grilled sandwich with fries and hush puppies. Nice slice of mahi mahi fillet. Mahi mahi is an excellent filet. So good, they named it twice. Added a bit of remoulade sauce to give it a good taste. Sat at the bar and the waitress was spot on with the service. Price was good for what we got. Restaurant upstairs and seafood counter downstairs. Perfect one stop shop

Suzy S.

Yelp
Jackie, our server was just a wonderful person full of smiles and very helpful and fast moving. First floor was a fish market full of different types of fish you could buy. Also, they have a sitting area outside where you can sit down and have your food. For the second floor of the stairs was the sitting patio but lots of windows, a lot of air, grade atmosphere, and the bar. We service on the second floor and we loved the food there. Virginia oysters were good. We had some fish fingers which were huge and delicious, we had some shrimp quesadillas. They were delicious. Also they're baked potato was great. The crab bisque soup was so good. Everything was amazing. My fish was also grade I had the fried fish! Overall experience was great! Nice tall tables very big and cozy. We are just here for a day in Jacksonville but loved a nice dinner and will definitely come back to this very homie place. Also, parking right in their lot, free and enough.

Russ R.

Yelp
We've been getting back into trying more places in the Jacksonville Beach area, so we gave this place a shot. We got there around 5:30 on a Friday night so we were able to get parked and sat really quickly. I could see both being a problem just a little later in the night, so keep that in mind. The service was great, the environment is cool and the portions were big. We were both pretty please with everything other than the minor complaint of the cole slaw being a little dry. That could just be a personal preference thing though. All of the other entrees I saw coming out of the kitchen were large and looked good too. This is one of those places that we thought we'd stop in to try once, but we'll definitely be back.

Maddie M.

Yelp
The service was the best part about this place. The food was not at all what I expected. This place was recommended by several people so we tried it out as an early dinner snack. The food we received looked NOTHING like the pictures on Yelp. We ordered wings, conch fritters, French fries, a few beers, and gator bites. I think our total was $130. The conch fritters were over cooked so hard to bite into, but good flavor in the inside. The chicken wings were decent size and smoky but very dry, we had to soak the chicken in ranch. The aligátor, I'm not sure was even aligátor, it was like remnants of fried pieces of something and a handful of them, not worth $15. I wish my review was different because this place seems like a staple here on the beach. I will try this place again because I believe in second chances, and hopefully have a different experience. But as of what we were served, I would recommend a re-evaluation of product before I recommended eating here.

Ariel M.

Yelp
Food was great and came out super quick. Service was awesome and friendly. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick bite to eat.

Keith M.

Yelp
This is a sneaky good spot in Jax Beach. Up stairs seating is awesome. You will enjoy your meal.

Ron M.

Yelp
Live on the Westside. Wanted to try this restaurant. We sat inside. 1st floor has only two tables but the 2nd floor is whete the main seating and bar is at. Did not disappoint. Morgan, our server was attentive, and our food was delicious.

Lynn C.

Yelp
I always bring my son here when I visit. Great food and friendly service. Don't let the look of the place dissuade you.

Diana M.

Yelp
The service was amazing! Having said that, it is a dive bar and let me just say I LOVE dive bars but bring on the TV's!! Come on it would be a great hang out with some tv's.

Rena K.

Yelp
Generous portions of delicious fish and seafood. Super friendly staff and a nice local feel. A casual atmosphere but really authentic. Try the (proudly) homemade sauces!

R B.

Yelp
Seafood is fresh and delicious. Reasonable pricing as well. Steamed peel and eat shrimp is hard to pass up. Place is a true whole in the wall but adds to the experience

Natasha J.

Yelp
Our food was great! Wish I recalled the waiter's name because he was also really great to our large party

Katherine D.

Yelp
I would rate my experience a 9/10! Crab dip was pretty good, think it would've tasted better hot but it was still warm. My cousin got the grilled mahi taco wrap & really enjoyed it -- it satisfied her craving! For me, I got the clam chowder and that was top two clam chowders I've ever tasted in my life. Consistency was PERFECT. Not too chunky/potatoey and not too creamy. Our server was soooo funny & gave great great service. Even the person downstairs was so nice to help us find the bathroom. You can choose to sit upstairs or down! Would come back if I return to JAX!

Will A.

Yelp
Great hole in the wall. Food is always good and their homemade sauces are great! It's not gourmet by any means but it's solid and simple seafood which I love!

Natalia G.

Yelp
Come hungry when you order the seafood platter. Fried fish, clam strips, deviled crab, calamari is a win win. We also got yummy hush puppies and fries. We started with a little house salad with choice of dressing. So I went w ranch cause go big or go home on calories right. They serve the platter with an assortment of sauces to dip to your hearts desire: Cajun ranch, tartar, cocktail or remoulaed too. It had been awhile since we have been here and I have to say having the place enclosed and air conditioned

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Living in Jacksonville means living by great seafood spots. When my husband and I first started dating in 2016, we came here and had amazing seafood and we've been dining there ever since. The first floor has some dine in tables, but what makes it really unique is the seafood market adjacent to it. You can tell by what's displayed it they offer fresh, local catches. The second floor offers more dining seating options in an open space. We've never had a bad meal here, my daughter loved the fish bites, I love a good po' boy and they have several to select from. Definitely recommend!!

Chelsea L.

Yelp
Good food, the clam chowder is the best I've had outside of the east coast, all the seafood is very fresh and their sauces are scratch made and spectacular. Tried the fried shrimp po boy, conch fitters, and the franks fave fish sandwich. All delicious. View from the upper outdoor patio was lovely. Service was a little inattentive, never offered refills or given lemon or sweetener for my iced tea. Overall, I'll come back for the food alone.

Emily C.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. Nice seating options! Dog friendly but for small groups only! Been going here for years!

B C.

Yelp
All my seafood dreams came true. Delicious oysters on the 1/2 shell, steamed little neck clams(on special for happy hour) conch fritters and steamed Mayport shrimp! All of it was perfect! Amy W's service was impeccable! I feel like a just had a spa treatment made out of food.

Katie K.

Yelp
I lived at the beach forever but somehow have missed out on Beachside until a few months ago. The oysters are great and their salads are amazing. The white fish salad is 17.99 and totally worth it. A lot of places charge more and are mediocre at best. Service is wonderful and I highly recommend.

Alison W.

Yelp
Our first stop in JAX Beach. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful in regards to the menu. We ordered blackened grouper sandwich and shrimp taco wrap and both were delicious and large servings! We tried the frozen key lime pie on a stick. It was good but for my preference the chocolate over powered the key lime. We would definitely go back!

Crystal C.

Yelp
Friendly and quickly service. I ordered flounder and raw oysters, both are fresh. Tried to order snow crab legs but was too pricey. Broiled shrimps are ok, need a little bit more flavor.

Marquita P.

Yelp
Beachside is one of my favorite restaurants in Jax. I've been meaning to leave a review for awhile. It's one of the first places I came to before I moved here. I usually get either the Lemon Butter Basa or Crab Dip. Yesterday I ordered the Seafood Burrito and was not disappointed. It's mostly filled with bay scallops (the little ones, not the larger sea scallops) with a few shrimp and a hint or whisper of crabmeat. I took off one star because of this. Otherwise, it's still delicious despite an uneven balance of shellfish. I'm not usually a burrito person; I prefer tacos. That being said, it was still really good! Will get it again for days when I'm headed to the beach because it's a nice portable lunch.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
I ordered takeout for lunch and was pleased with the taste of the gator tail. It was perfectly cooked. I subbed a baked potato w cheese and bacon for the fries (super fluffy delicious potato!) and had a side of slaw. I would recommend this place for a quick fried seafood plate.

Michelle D.

Yelp
I have been eating at Beachside Seafood Restaurant since before I moved to Jacksonville. I've always sat upstairs. I was pleasantly surprised on my last trip to find they now have AC upstairs....woot woot! This is a great spot to grab a bite after you've been at the beach. Come as you are in your beach attire they do not care LOL. On this trip I ordered the blackened cod sandwich which came with fries and hush puppies. Yummy! The fish was fresh and seasoned and cooked perfectly! I also enjoyed the hush puppies and fries. I had draft beer too. They offer several beers on top. You can find coupons good during the week in the Money Magazine. You also get $5 off a $20 purchase with your first Yelp check-in. I love a deal:)))

Janice M.

Yelp
Amazing!! So delicious!! I wanted a fish sandwich and went to the right place! I also got the fish dip to go. That is really yummy and made for a nice snack.

Chris L.

Yelp
Food was great and fresh. Had to sit at the bar since there wasn't a table ... no big deal to us but the service lacked as my wine glass sat there empty and I was trying to get her attention

Deanna H.

Yelp
Wow. But in a bad way. Very inaccessible for people with ANY sort of handicap. The host did not specify which table we should sit at, so we had to look across the room for him to ask which one he randomly pointed to. The server was very late and did not look in our direction. He took our parent's order, then assumed we didn't want anything so he did not ask us what we would like. He gave my boyfriend a burrito instead of a quesadilla like he ordered. He said he would bring us sauce and he did not. He was extremely snappy at me when I asked for grouper. The grouper was slimy and not at all like grouper. It was a waste of $22. I was so disappointed and angry when I left. Not only because of the food but the terrible service. I am also a server so I can generally gauge when a server is having a bad day, but this guy was just a jerk. I am still fuming. Everything that could go wrong in a restaurant, went wrong.

Darren V.

Yelp
Stopped by to grab some lunch here. Will definitely be back! Great food, great prices and great service! I had the dozen steamed oysters and the fried scallop basket. Both were amazing! My server Brittany was fabulous. Very attentive and friendly!

Evan L.

Yelp
Great seafood and even better service. The quesadilla is loaded with seafood. Incredible.

Abby M.

Yelp
Was a little worried after not finding much on here or Facebook, and when we pulled up it wasn't busy at all. Went in anyway and I'm glad we did. Waitress was friendly, food was incredible, and prices were right. Probably one of my favorite places to eat in Jax Beach and would absolutely return.

Imitsal D.

Yelp
Great fried seafood baskets! Awesome dips and sauces. Highly recommend the clam strips, fish bites, and the crab dip. Open area bar upstairs is nice during a warm day

Cindy M.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years. Consistently good, unpretentious seafood. Always have had a great experience here. If you wanna get your ass kissed, go elsewhere, if you want fresh seafood this is the place!

Pam C.

Yelp
Our bartender Lukas gets 5+ stars. It was busy and he was friendly and fast. He was working the outside bar by himself and service was great. Restaurant 4 stars because it would have been nice to see someone on the outside helping. Anyone. We didn't see anyone dining inside, so not sure why someone didn't come out to assist in some way. Anyway, we would go back again if we know Lukas is working the bar.

Alanna R.

Yelp
This beachside restaurant makes fresh and delicious seafood along with amazing house add sauces to top everything off! They have re-opened dine in seating since covid and have tables spaced out for diner safety. I got the mahi mahi sandwich which had tons of fish packed in the Kaiser roll. Our server gave us the happy hour info and then gave us samples of all the sauces to go with our meal. I love the rustic feel of the upstairs and the view of the ocean from across the street!

Anton M.

Yelp
Two blocks to the beach. Cozy beer/wine only restaurant. Two floors to dine in. Main floor also has seafood shop. Staff nice n pleasant. Had raw Oysters..very fresh. Shared the snow crab leg dinner. Was top shelf. Only reason not a five no hard alcohol.

Kristina J.

Yelp
We had our dinner there last night- they take no reservations, but the wait for Saturday night was about 25-30 mins. It's a restaurant and a market in one, so you know you're eating fresh food. Portions are huge (entree at least) so we could have totally split one (it was two of us). We had the BEST smoked fish dip in our life !!! The only reason for 4 instead of five starts is the fact that your food comes on a paper plate, and utensils are plastic... however, they charge you $2 for club soda off the soda gun ?

Cassie C.

Yelp
My brother heard about this place on a food network show and so this was the first place I ate while visiting the area. It has a market part attached to the restaurant, with a few tables downstairs and a bar and more tables upstairs to choose from. Our server was very nice and good; the food was good too. It was just nothing to write home about. I ordered the clam strips basket. They were good but again nothing spectacular. I did enjoy their chipotle ranch sauce that I dipped my fries and hush puppies in. All of us agreed that while we didn't dislike our meals, it's not a place we'd write on a list to return to. I'm sure there are lots of other seafood places in the area you could go to for good food too, this place is just super casual and decent pricing.
