"If You Prefer Light Beers. Beachwood Brewing in Long beach isn’t participating in Black Is Beautiful, but they do have a new brew called To Long Beach With Love, an extremely drinkable, aromatic German-style Pils. They’re also donating to the California Conference For Equality And Justice." - brett keating
"Beachwood Blendery has been pushing boundaries in Southern California craft beer for years, thanks to its prodigious barrel-aging program and funky, often fruity finished styles. This is the spot to take craft beer nerds after a day at the beach — or, really, anyone who enjoys a little sour, tartness, and funk in their brews." - Farley Elliott
"The sours-only version of Beachwood Brewing, the Blendery takes the lambic base used for Beachwood’s beers and makes all kinds of crazy brews from it. They age each of them in oak barrels with aromatics like muscat grapes, guavas, and strawberries with Herbes de Provence. They rarely have the same options more than once a year, so you can go back often and never see the same list. If you love sour beers, then this is one of the best places to drink them in LA County." - brant cox, nikko duren
"Long Beach spot Beachwood Brewing makes an impressive amount of quality beers during normal times, and that hasn’t changed during quarantine. In addition to tentpole IPAs like Amalgamator and Citraholic, they’ve also got some other great options, like Greenshift (a classic double IPA) and 28 Haze Later (a New England IPA). Also note that they’ve got a “cellar” section of their online store, with heavily discounted rare beers from other breweries. Available for pick-up, local next-day delivery, or shipping via their website." - brett keating
"Beachwood is a full-scale BBQ restaurant right along the promenade in downtown Long Beach. While their BBQ is solid and you’ll eat more than your fair share of their housemade cornbread, you’re really here for the beer. Beachwood has been one of California’s best craft breweries for a while now, and it’s home to one of our favorite IPAs of all time (Melrose). Sitting out on their patio drinking a West Coast IPA and watching people walk by looking for the aquarium is exactly how every Saturday should go." - brant cox, brett keating
