Indian Sports Bar Pijja Palace Rocks Tasting Menu, TVs for the Big Game - Eater LA

"On Sunday, singer-songwriter Harry Styles won the Grammy’s biggest honor for Album of The Year. The New York Times spoke to a handful of “Harrys,” the official moniker for his fans, for a fascinating story about his enduring stardom and the influx of support it has caused for Beachwood Cafe, the LA restaurant named in his 2019 song “Falling.”" - Mona Holmes

"COVID-19 Update: Open for takeout and delivery. The cornerstone of the one-street commercial area in adorable, historic Beachwood Canyon, Beachwood Cafe is still one of LA’s best-kept secrets. The eclectic décor has a distinctively ‘60s vibe that makes you nostalgic for the city’s early years, when development in the canyon really started to explode. The restaurant serves classic American/Californian food that’s heavy on vegetables and vegetarian options—that said, the meatball sub and pulled pork sandwiches are flat out great. This IS LA. Period. This cafe has ambiance for days and food that outshines the rest. The Beachwood locals know and keep this place busy. If you come, keep your eyes peeled for parking because there ain't any. The crispy chicken sandwich and guava lemonade brought me back to life! Next time, I'm making room for dessert! Update: 2 days later... it's a certified BANGER! The pesto chicken sandwich and the strawberry cobbler are my new favorites. Update: 1 week later... the BBQ chicken wrap LITERALLY saved my life after another night of "herbal" refreshments and the Grease Sing-A-Long at the Hollywood Bowl. It's one of my new favorites and it will be the only thing I order from now on. PS- Don't sleep on the guava lemonade!

This is a cute little restaurant right down the hill of the Hollywood Sign. Parking was easy in the adjacent parking lot. This place normally is packed during lunch and they don't do reservations during that time. We have a large group and wanted to sit together, so the manager recommended us come in the late afternoon instead. That way we can reserve the back room and have a space to ourselves. That was a great suggestion and we enjoyed our time here. I really like their multiple menu options for coffee/latte. I ordered the iced guava matcha and it was not too sweet not too bitter, just the way I like it. The food were delicious too. My friend ordered the pizza and it's those thin-crust ones, which I liked as well. The fries I ordered were cooked to perfection, crispy outside but tender inside, with the perfect amount of salt and seasoning. The service was excellent as well.

I’ve always wanted to try and I’m glad we did, the wait was short. They sat us at a little counter which I didn’t love but it was fine. My vanilla latte was delicious, we also split the banana chocolate chip pancakes and the breakfast sandwich, both were very good. The breakfast potatoes were perfect we ate every last one. We will be back!

No wait on Sunday at 8am. We got a scramble of eggs plate and a breakfast sandwich. The eggs were good, not the best but that’s perfect for breakfast. And I think I got the one of the best sandwich. And don’t forget to listen Harry Styles “Falling”🙃😉

We had just finished a LONG hike .. we were exhausted and saw this cute quaint spot in the neighborhood. Danielle made us feel right at home, she was AMAZING! The food was also 10/10 wow.. was not expecting that quality from a tiny neighborhood spot!! It was our first time here - it definitely won’t be our last. Thanks Danielle!! ❤️ Sincerely - your NYC buddies Sal and Ralph!

Ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict. Pretty good. Potatoes were a bit over-seasoned. Orange Juice portion a little too small for my liking but good. It was a bit busy for Saturday morning but I was able to find parking quickly. Would definitely come again.

Such a great spot for lunch/brunch or a light dinner with wine, or just a quick latte, juice, or baked goodie. I was here most recently with a friend for brunch, after a walk around the reservoir. We were lucky enough to grab seats at the bar/counter area even though it was so busy. The service was awesome (the folks who work here are so nice), and the wine selection and food were sooooo yummy (and very healthy tasting). I will be day dreaming about the brussel sprouts bowl until the next time I visit. Thank you for the awesome food and service! 👌😋😍

Yelp
Ofc we came to try this spot because of Harry Styles LOL and thankfully it did not disappoint! This is a cute and cozy brunch spot in the Hollywood Hills area with such a huge menu where everything sounded amazing - both drinks and food! The two eggs and meat dish is always my go to anywhere I go and I def approve this dish from here - the potatoes were crisp and well seasoned and the eggs were cooked perfectly and were fluffy. The cornflakes french toast is so good with that crunchy texture! I'd definitely get that again as a sweet dish to balance out the savory options. The service was pretty quick too. Only waited about 15 mins on a Sunday afternoon to get seated and our order was taken pretty quickly. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant that's shared with a little market, so yay for free and easy parking!

Yelp
We were recommended this place by someone on our flight- we let them know we were going to the Hollywood sign and they recommended this place. I loveeeed driving through all the houses to come to this cute little restaurant in the middle of houses and businesses. Not sure if there was more parking anywhere but that was the hardest part for us! We just put our name on the waitlist from a QR code outside and had the most amazing meal! I started with the butterscotch latte - it was soooooo good. Like actually tasted like butterscotch. For food I got the Benedict's and I don't think I've had Benedict's this good!!! Ever. Hubby really liked the huevos and he's not much of a bean guy but liked theirs on the plate. Def worth the try and the wait!

Yelp
Remembered the awful fucking experience I had there and you know what? Fuck this cafe. Staff all looked at me like I was an alien when I walked in, I was a single person and wanted to sit at the counter and have breakfast while I journaled. Staff was rude as fuck to me but sure were chatty and friendly with each other, guffawing it up. I asked if the manager was around and they said no. This place deserves to close. Staff needs and attitude adjustment.

Yelp
This cafe was busy, food was good, service was fast, and the inside was nice. Nice busy little place to get good food at a good price. 5 stars Spicy Chicken Sausage with Country Potato. Sausage tasted really good with a low medium spice level. Country potatoes tasted great. 5 stars scone. Tasted good. Nice and fresh. No complaints.

Yelp
Stopped by with a friend after a hike Close by. It was not too crowded since it was early and during the weekday. The service was slow even though it wasn't that busy. The sandwich and potatoes were good though.

Yelp
Obviously this place is super popular and everybody raves about it. I finally was able to try it and i'd say it was 50/50. I've seen some reviews and i'd say it depends on when you go. I ordered a caramel latte and tried their new york cheesecake. They were both good, the cheesecake portion was good. The place was actually relatively empty (a surprise) and the place was cute and cozy, overall. However, the service was a bit iffy. They were a bit sassy or had some attitude which took away from the experience, (weird because it was practically empty) I'm definitely not opposed to coming again and trying something new. Like I mentioned, the reviews tend to be 50/50 so it depends on when you come. I mean, Harry Styles had to like it for some reason, no? It's the cutest spot, that's for sure.

Yelp
Been here before with my boyfriend but had to come back during my most recent visit to LA! We were seated immediately even though it was busy and were attended to promptly within sitting! I ordered a matcha latte and a burger and my boyfriend got a wrap and iced latte. Everything was fantastic. MY BURGER was to die for!!! Only thing is it did take a bit to get the food out- but we didn't mind waiting as, like I said, it was quite busy!

Yelp
Great service, great vibes! Came here after a run with a few friends. Placed was packed but we were seated right away. I got the classic Benedict, which was amazing! The sourdough bread with the runny yolk and sauce complimented each other well. The London fog was depth in its flavor and has a small minty after taste, which I loved! Definitely coming back for more in the future!
google avatar

Yelp
Started off with drinks and got The Quench which was watermelon, jicama, strawberry, mint, lime, and watermelon rind. It was good but probably wouldn't get again just because they have an extensive menu so would wanna try something else. The matcha was also good but the guava was an interesting complement so maybe just the matcha latte for me. The breakfast pizza was soo good tho. Definitely would say on the heavy side because the crust is sourdough-esque but the pesto and cheese on top was delicious and the burrito was so yummy!! Would love if they had avocado and/or sour cream in it because potatoes and brisket inside were so good so would prob get again but ask if they can add avocado and maybe bacon or something for more texture.

Yelp
Cute little spot in the Hollywood Hills with a massive menu. I was a little overwhelmed by all the options, but finally settled on their 2x2x2 meal. Two eggs any style (I went with over medium), two slices of meat (I went for veggie sausage), and your choice of pancakes or french toast (I chose the pancakes after my waiter ensured me that they were superior.) Meal was decent and filling, but nothing blew me away. My friend ordered a side of potatoes also and they had a nice crispy outside with a soft inside. Still, the best thing on my plate was the veggie sausage. It was flavorful and honestly could've passed for real meat. Despite coming in on a Friday afternoon, the place was pretty packed. Still, we were seated immediately and service was friendly. I'd be curious to see how their lunch menu stacks up. 3.5/5

Yelp
Great location, great service and nice ambiance. This place is definitely added to my roster of Sunday brunch spots. You can taste the quality of their food. The ingredients taste fresh and healthy. We ordered some of the lightest pancakes iv ever had. We also got a breakfast plate and a chicken avocado wrap. Everything tastes fresh and delicious. I'm convinced everything on the menu tastes They have a large menu full of different options so there is something for everyone

Yelp
Gorgeously decorated restaurant and very trendy. I love taking people here as the drive up the hill has a beautiful view of the Hollywood sign. My friends and I love coming here for brunch but be warned, there is a wait more often than not. The most recent time I dined here we came on a Wednesday around noon and were sat immediately. The service can be a little slow during their busier days, however this past Wednesday the service was great! We were in and out of the restaurant pretty quickly. They also have a walk-up style coffee bar for drinks and pastries if you're looking for a quicker option. I always order the Breakfast sandwich that comes with potatoes. The sriracha aioli is always so yummy and I get an extra side. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to people, especially during their quieter days as it definitely changes the experience.

Yelp
Hidden spot that is worth the try! I finished hiking with some friends & this was the nearest spot for food so we decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint! The ambiance in here is like a cute casual diner. The customer service was good too. The food was pretty good too! I ordered a chicken gyro wrap & the chicken was very well marinated & the flavors were good. It does seem to get packed so expect a bit of a wait time.
google avatar

Yelp
Been here twice now, both times were a hit! Came for breakfast and dinner, both meals were delicious. It's a cute spot with great food. I am vegetarian and they had great options. They also have a parking lot in the back which is a huge plus!

Yelp
We got in super quick as a walk in & the food was soooooo good. Would def come back & tell a friend ! The vibes are unmatched and all the staff is friendly & down to earth .

Yelp
My first and last time coming here. This place was a recommendation from a friend of mine. Wanted to give it a try. . Service - wasn't that great. He seemed really annoyed about getting our orders. Very negative. A lot of eye rolling. . Food was ok. Lacked a little bit of seasoning. Atmosphere is nice. It's small.

Yelp
One of the hidden gems of LA. Charming, great food, cozy and casual. My favorite breakfast spot when I'm In town.
google avatar

Tarek H.

Yelp
Food was good, the restaurant was clean, good energy overall. The guy who sat me was kind. The server was a bit rude and dismissive, a but weird, and in a rush, even tho it was not that busy. Would have been nice if it was a bit friendly, she just wants to get people out of there. But good food, and cool spot, and area.
google avatar

Aileen G.

Yelp
Absolutely love the vibe of this place and the food is also really good! Definitely worth the drive if you live far. You also get a really good view of the Hollywood sign on your way there. The service has always been really good and quick the times l've gone. Could not recommend this place enough

Yelp
Meh...just ok. We decided to hit this spot up for brunch while visiting family in L.A. It's a tiny little cafe but it's cute. We ordered the s'mores coffee and the butterscotch coffee, both were ok nothing to be excited about. We wanted to try a variety of foods so we got blueberry pancakes; (ok),chicken sausage (good), blueberry muffin (yummy) and bacon (good). IMO, if you really want to try this place grab a pastry and go see the city it will save you a little money and time. The service was great!
google avatar

Haley K.

Yelp
I got the chicken gyro, and it was well balanced with great pickled onions. My friend and I both got the raspberry matcha, and it was really good. They also had a lot of unique flavors for matcha and lattes. The desserts also looked very good, and the ambiance was nice and not stuffy, considering how many people were there. Staff were also so friendly, and were very attentive!
google avatar

Yelp
A little neighborhood gem tucked under the Hollywood sign. Terrific service and delicious breakfast was the best way to start our day. Just be patient - you'll get a table!
google avatar

Yelp
Been here on several occasions at different times of the day and though it can be pretty packed sometimes it's always worth the wait. The food is delicious and fresh with a variety of I recommend getting brunch here. Whether you're in the mood for breakfast or lunch, this is the place to go with friends on a weekend (or weekday). The restaurant's atmosphere is causal and bright with clean restrooms (which is very important). The service is great! We've had Kayla take care of us a few times and she's always so welcoming and attentive. She recommended the Vegan burito and it was a great choice!
google avatar

Anush G.

Yelp
Beachwood Cafe has high quality food and an extensive menu with many options and generous portions. The service was good especially considering how busy the cafe was. Definitely worth trying if you're in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
A cozy little cafe nestled in the Hollywood Hills, feels like a fairytale house during the Holidays. We had a Holiday Brunch here post hike and it satisfied all expectations for a hometown-like cuisine. Definitely recommend getting a scramblette and an order of Lemon Ricotta Pancakes.
google avatar

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Loved the location and ambience service was great for how busy they were. Food was good - Greta place for breakfast!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here after our hike to the Hollywood sign which is about seven minutes away. Glad we did! It has an extensive weekend breakfast menu. I loved my breakfast burrito with pork. My friend enjoyed his vegan burrito as well. The burrito is petite in size and just enough for one person, not ideal for sharing. The pancake is amazing. The chicken sausage was a little spicy and my friend did not finish hers. The omelette is OK. They also have baked ready pastries for to-go if you want to enjoy them later. Decent size of indoor-seating area. Servers are very attentive. It's busy, but not crowded or loud. It felt welcoming, relaxing, and comfortable. Word of caution, please pay attention to the street parking signs closer to the restaurant, we saw parking enforcement officer giving out tickets.
google avatar

Marc W.

Yelp
We enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We went twice while visiting the area. Once for dinner and another time for breakfast and enjoyed the food and service both times! Our waitress was also very attentive, friendly and conversational!
google avatar

Zainab M.

Yelp
Cutest little spot for brunch! Everything we tried was great, my friends especially raving about their breakfast burrito! I personally love their two-two-two option for breakfast, you get a little bit of everything and can sub the meat for a different side! Their eggs are always done perfectly, and are absolutely delicious. Portion sizes are pretty big for the most part! Their service is also always stellar, even when it's super busy! There's usually no wait time if you go during the week, but on the weekends there often is.
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
My friends and I finished the Hollywood sign hike and wanted to get brunch afterwards. We found this cafe tucked in the neighborhood. We got seated right away but it got packed later on. I got the beach wood egg scramble with potatoes. The scramble came with spicy sausage and cheese. I also liked that it came with a scoop of guac, sour cream, and pico de gallo on the side. Food was simple but really delicious The portion was big. I thought I wasn't going to get full but I did!
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
This is always a great spot for breakfast! This time i got the classic waffle and it was so yummy with the fruit and cream
google avatar

Yelp
Cute spot. Food came out super fast and super hot. Service was good. Americano was bad.

Yelp
I have been coming to the Beachwood cafe for 4ish years now? Just once or twice a year but I re-fall in love with it every time. The ambiance is unmatched whether you're inside or outside. Food is so so so good! This past time I had the 2-2-2 with chicken sausage, scrambled eggs, and banana chocolate chip pancakes. YUM! It was my first time bringing my boyfriend here and he also LOVED IT. Every time we come there's a bit of a wait (what can you expect in LA for sunday brunch), but it's never as bad as it seems (plus the street area is so pretty to wait/walk around in) and we always have good service from our waiters.
google avatar

Yelp
We don't live close, but we found this cafe on Yelp while searching restaurants close to the Hollywood Sign, which we planned on hiking after breakfast. I loved the feel on this quaint little cafe. It has a retro vibe with lots of natural light and plants lining the window sills. My husband ordered the Baja breakfast burrito and Nutella Latte. He said the pork was juicy, and he really enjoyed with the homemade red salsa (recommended by our server Guadalupe - Thank you!) My teenage son ordered chocolate banana pancakes with a side of potatoes and hot chocolate - weird combo, but ya know... teens! My other son order 2-2-2 (eggs, bacon, French Toast) and described it as "Amazing!" His three favorites in one dish! I ordered the Beechwood Scramble with country potatoes and Vanilla Latte. It was okay - the sausage had a weird flavor and my coffee wasn't that hot. The best part of mine was the homemade strawberry jam for the piece of toast. Overall, it was a good meal with good service. I'd go back if we find ourselves in the area again. (We found a parking spot on Beachwood Drive near the cafe. We started our hike there, climbed up the Beachwood staircase and neighborhood to the trail head at Mt Lee Drive - very steep!) Round trip to the Hollywood sign and back to our car was a little over 5 miles.)
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
the best vegan breakfast burrito in LA... one of my family's favorite spots for years. always consistently delicious, and service is always great. the perfect brunch for locals or visitors, head to Beachwood!

Yelp
Came on a Thursday morning and was sat down immediately. The service was great and our waitress was very kind and quick. I ordered the Italian scramble and I will say the star of the plate were the potatoes! They were sooo good! The eggs were good as well and the portion was great! I will say it is a bit expensive, but I was totally expecting that. The cafe itself is so cute! And if you are up for it there is a secret way up to the Hollywood sign just warning if you take the stairs up there are a lot of stairs. But it will work off all the great food you just had!

Jenen T.

Yelp
Cute little place located in a residential area. Mornings are busy but worth the wait. You can add yourself on the waitlist and take a nice little stroll. I tried the beet salad and cubano sandwich with sweet potato fries and I must say they were both tasty! Both are a must. I had the passion fruit mimosas and was not too much of a fan. Parking will be challenging if you arrive after 11am. For dessert lemon ricotta pancakes please!!!

Yelp
A neighborhood cafe in the historic Beachwood Canyon area near the Hollywood Sign. My friend and I parked on the street but we saw customers also parking at the Beachwood Market lot next door. We signed up for the online waitlist upon arrival at around 1 pm on a Sunday. There were 12 parties ahead of us but we were seated within 15 minutes. The cafe is pretty large and has two bathrooms that were relatively clean. With the tables placed close to each other and loud music, it was noisy and a little hard to hear my friend at times. My friend ordered the Beachwood Scramblette and Matcha Latte while I ordered the BBQ Salad and Passionfruit Lemonade. We shared the Cornflakes French Toast. The portions were large and the prices were fair for the area. My friend loved the scramblette and still had a good amount of eggs left by the time we finished. The salad was very balanced and filling even without adding protein. I was worried that the salad would be too salty like other BBQ salads I've had, but it wasn't. There was just the right amount of tomatoes, jalapeños, and tortillas strips. The French toast was better than average. My friend thought the matcha latte was decent but it left her longing for a second matcha elsewhere, which we stopped for on the way home. The passionfruit syrup in the lemonade was too sweet and tasted very artificial. Overall, the food is good, ambiance is bright and lively, and our waiter was friendly. I could see the wait being long at times, but if you're not in a rush, it's a nice spot for a weekend brunch.

Yelp
This little cafe is the place to go for brunch/lunch. It's located in a beautiful little neighborhood, where you can get up close to the Hollywood Sign. We ordered the Asparagus Fries, Eggs Benedict & the Runyon Scramblette. We could tell that our food was made with love and care, and cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients. The Asparagus Fries were so delicious. The batter was so crisp yet airy, sprinkled with the perfect amount of Parmesan. When I tell you, the Runyon Scramblette is a MUST. The fire roasted corn & bell peppers added so much texture to the egg scramble. Absolute deliciousness. As far as the Eggs Benedict, it was a standard dish. It was good, but not the best we've ever had. But the brioche bread that came with it is a game changer. Toasted perfectly. Add a smear of butter, and it is HEAVENLY. Oh, and don't forget about their coffees! We ordered their sugar free vanilla lattes with oat milk. Absolutely divine. Service was nothing short of lovely. We were greeted and sat in a timely manner. It was super busy (around 3:30), so the food took a little while to come out, but it was so worth it. We will definitely be coming back for more Scramblettes & will be trying some other dishes. Overall, a gorgeous little place with some great vibes and good food!

Yelp
What a great spot! Amazing egg dishes, pancakes, coffee, and all the essentials for the best breakfast or lunch you could ask for. Wonderful vibe, amazing service and easy parking.

Yelp
Lovely little tucked away restaurant in the Hollywood Hills. I've always felt welcomed, and I love their menu. Service is great, hostess seats you pretty quickly, even when there is a wait she's always on top of it. If she says the wait is 10 minutes, you'll be seated within 10 minutes. The waitresses offer great suggestions, and are knowledgeable of the menu. Food is always delicious! And the drinks are great. The Manager usually makes his rounds to check on each table at least once every hour. I found that special little extra touch very nice. Something I always get is the Butterscotch Latte. It's my favorite. Very strong without being overly sweet with the flavor a perfect ending to every sip. Too much food to pick one to highlight, but I will recommend the Hamburger Pizza.. JUST TRY IT! And lastly I must say the side salad is always perfect! You have to go at least once, then you'll fall in love with it and find yourself becoming a regular.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this quick brunch spot in Hollywood located right by the notorious Hollywood sign. I came here after a nice walk around Lake Hollywood park after I had worked up an appetite for brunch. They had plenty of breakfast and lunch options so there was a lot to choose from. Classic breakfast dishes and sandwiches, bowls, wings, and burgers for lunch among others. They also have a good selection of coffee and breakfast drinks. I got the make your own scramblette because I am a tailor-made kinda guy. You get 3 items that come included with your omelette for about $18, I also added an additional item for $1.75. I chose to get baby spinach, baby button mushrooms, spicy turkey sausage, and feta cheese with my omelette. Their breakfast potatoes were good too, well seasoned. Salad greens were fresh. The place was busy but our food still came out really quick which was much appreciated. I would definitely come back here to try different breakfast options and for lunch. They are super dog friendly, too, which was really nice.

Yelp
Worth the line!! Food was amazing and portions are generous! Super cute interior, but they cram you in there. Service was so/so, waiter seemed like he had somewhere else to be.

Yelp
Took a hike and went straight here for brunch with friends. There's a QR code at the entrance to get on the waitlist. Keep in mind that this place gets busy during brunch time especially on the weekends! There's limited parking so give yourself some time for that. Ambiance is trendy, open and a lot of seating available. Now for the good stuff, there's a huge selection of great healthy food and I must say everything my group ordered was bomb. Fez Bowl: ordered this with chicken- very healthy with Mediterranean flavors. We loved this bowl! Huevos Rancheros- straight forward, perfect serving. Crispy cauliflower- I tend to order this at a lot of establishments, theirs is really good! Asparagus fries- perfect side dish. Shiitake burger- for my mushroom lovers out there, spot on. Crème brûlée cheese cake- SO GOOD!! The entire table loved it. There's so many things to choose from but you can't go wrong with anything. We were very impressed with the food and will definitely come back. Coffee was amazing too. Especially the lavender breve (;

Yelp
The selection of healthy breakfast options is awesome! This place is so busy. We got here early enough to get a high top table against the windows. I ordered The Dell. It was very hearty because of the potatoes! Friend got The Fez Bowl, which I liked more for the nutritional factor. It had lots of fiber!! I'd come back again really early in the morning if I'm back in that area for hiking. Beat the crowd! Customer service was helpful and checked in periodically. Wish that had a place like this closer to OC! Parking is on the street, so park at your own risk.

Yelp
What a great neighborhood Cafe. My friends just moved into the area and we decided to drop in for a nice lunch. The service is always impeccable and friendly. So far every menu items we've tried has been spot on and made with quality ingredients. With a great vibe, friendly service and clean establishment.. You can't go wrong here whether you're a local or tourist.
