Dupont Bar’s Got Senate Bean Soup Covered If Government Shuts Down - Eater DC

"Beacon Bar & Grill, a hotel bar known for its traveler-friendly fare, has been serving a version of the Senate’s historic navy bean soup on a weekly basis during the winter months for several years. The seasonal offering, available as of January 18, includes white beans, carrots, celery, onions, and diced ham, and is served with complimentary slices of warm, crusty baguette. The soup special will be available for the next few days in light of the latest budget showdown." - Warren Rojas

Definitely do NOT eat at this hotel. Restaurant was almost abandoned looking, only one other person there at the bar when we walked in around 12:30pm for Sunday brunch (which goes to 2pm). There are 2 sections of dining room we could choose from to sit down, one was damp with dehumidifiers running and the other had literal cobwebs throughout. Even on the ground level in every corner. Service was good and wait staff was friendly, but pancakes were disgusting. Coffee wasn’t good. Total cost for 3 people was $118 for us. Overpriced, which we expect for DC, but not if the food and coffee is bad. Not if the place is dingy and gross. Won't be back to restaurant!

I stayed at the Beacon Hotel and dined in their restaurant twice. The first time was for happy hour where I was thoroughly unimpressed. My first two drinks were free as a result of receiving complimentary drink coupons as a perk from the hotel, but I was still thoroughly, thoroughly unimpressed. I had a champagne specialty cocktail that was disgusting and the bartender was hard to track down. He either wasn't behind the bar or was playing on his cell phone( I've included a photo). We had the wings and quesadillas, Neither of which were good. They drink specials were decent though and it was nice to get three dollar beer and lemon drop shots, and the specialty mule cocktail was pretty good but didn’t make up for the poor service and nasty food. After that experience I had a bad taste in my mouth but the Sunday brunch managed to make up for that horrible visit. I booked an 11:00 reservation on Open Table and was seated immediately when I arrived. The buffet was beautiful and bountiful. Everything was delicious. I was so happy with the wide array of options from classic breakfast foods to salads and desserts to lunch items and Caribbean flavor dishes. The options were endless. I particularly enjoyed the omelette station even though the chef there gave me someone else’s omelette and told me I was mistaken when I informed him of this. The other person came to claim their omelette, so thankfully he realized that I knew I was talking about. He also gave another woman a hard time saying she didn’t ask for a certain item in her omelette when I was standing there and heard her ask for it. Our server Tom was fantastic! He brought our Mamosa’s immediately and refilled them frequently, remembering to check on us and clear our empty plates as well. We both loved the decor and atmosphere of the dining room as well. This is a great place for an amazing Sunday brunch or to celebrate a special occasion or treat friends from out of town. I highly recommend the brunch but wouldn’t do the happy hour again.

Google
This place is very likable. You don't want to marry it but it's fun to flirt with it every once in a while. This was the first non-buffet style brunch I have been to here. The price was decent enough at 36 bucks per person. That did include unlimited mimosas and a three course meal. Do not order the bread baskets! It's not the carb heaven you think it is. See photo. So moving past the appetizers boring you death with their oats and salads, let's move on to the real deal Holyfield. That mother effin chicken waffles is way too good! I mean blast my taste buds in too space because nothing else on Earth may ever compare. The shrimp looked good but I did not order it because it only gives two tacos. I mean who only eats two tacos, it's at least three minimum. The desert was meh. The ambience was clean but felt very humid and a little too warm.

Google
Well what a disappointment. Had to wait for ten minutes before anyone came to the entrance (where I’d been directed to wait by a server) and then the not inexpensive American breakfast involved the world’s smallest sausages, over cooked fried potatoes and dry toast. I should have left the hotel and found a good quality diner where I sure I would have had a far better start to my day.

Google
Brunch is always good here. Lots of food selections and bottomless mimosas. They serve Lavazza coffee and the staff is nice and friendly!! Valet parking is a bit pricy at $20 and a reservation is recommended.

First time. The service and food were excellent. The bartender was the greatest.because we chose to sit in the bar area we didn't have to wait long. Highly recommend

Google
Good stuff, strong mimosas. My issues are the omelet station, didn't have egg whites and the only meat they had was bacon. They used to have shrimp, Ham and turkey. He was also not very friendly. Greek salad with no dressing, and terrible beef "stew". I think our servers name was John, he was nice. The best thing they had was the waffles! It's not as great as it used to be.

Beacon Bar & Grill has quickly become my go-to spot for an unforgettable brunch experience in the city. The brunch here is simply AMAZING, with an extensive buffet that truly has everything you could crave. From mini waffles and crispy bacon to fresh salads and a mouthwatering ravioli dish, every bite is a treat. One of the highlights of their Sunday brunch is the unlimited mimosas—when they say unlimited, they mean it! Their refill game is strong, keeping the good vibes flowing throughout your meal. Even if you’re not drinking, the food alone is worth the visit, though I was surprised to find out that the $59 price tag includes tax and gratuity, regardless of whether you indulge in the mimosas. The ambiance at Beacon is warm and inviting, with plenty of windows and open space that make it perfect for larger groups or celebrations. It's an ideal spot for birthdays or just to be seen, thanks to its prime location on the first floor of the Beacon Hotel. The buffet offers a solid variety, including fruit stations, dessert stations, plantains, grits, eggs, and more, ensuring there’s something for everyone. While I enjoyed my time here, I think a DJ could really elevate the brunch to a full-blown day party vibe—they certainly have the space for it! All in all, Beacon Bar & Grill is a fantastic choice for a lively and delicious brunch in the heart of the city. Whether you're sipping on mimosas or enjoying their savory dishes, you're in for a great time. After an energizing brunch, I love to wind down with some quality weed from Pullupdeliveries. Their Super Lemon Haze strain is my go-to for a relaxing afternoon, perfect for unwinding after a festive brunch.

Yelp
I haven't been here in years. The food and service used to be amazing. No longer. My latest visit I sat at the bar and was virtually ignored by the bartender even though there were only two other people at the bar. She spent the whole time talking with them and looking at things on each others' phones. I had to flag her down to get service and then again to get the bill. It was like I was invisible. But what really made me mad was that the restaurant automatically adds an 18% tip and then still includes a line on the credit card slip to add another tip. I'm sure plenty of people don't catch this, especially after a couple drinks. That's some sneaky shit, and that's the main reason I won't be back. Sad because my office is a block away and this place is super convenient for an after-work beverage. Luckily, there are plenty of other options in the neighborhood.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place if you are staying at the hotel & don't want to drive anywhere. You will get overpriced food, but it won't be terrible. There is nothing special about the ambiance. It's a hotel bar. The service is friendly, but don't expect to be treated well for paying $20 for a ceasar salad. I have nothing negative to say, but also nothing special to say either. Eat here if you must & it'll be fine, but definitely don't go here if you're walking through downtown. Walk a few more blocks & find something better...

Yelp
The place is right next to the hotel so you don't need to go out on a rainy day. They are a little short handed but the food is good and nice service.

Ivonne A.

Yelp
I was hosting the beacon hotel, attended with my family for the breakfast and the service was rude, so I decided not to tip with 18 % but with 15%. Waiter and manager forced me to change the amount of the tip claiming the system could not be changed and food was good. I work in service and I never have forced anyone to tip me, I prefer to earn it!!!!

Yelp
Food was mediocre at best. One server for all of us hotel guests Very nice server but no help

Yelp
Vwry expensive and mediocre food. Many better options within walking distance. Ordered eggs and sausage, no gluten free options.

Yelp
After visiting the National Geographic Museum nearby, I visited Beacon Bar and Grill for some lunch. Beacon Bar and Grill is a restaurant in a boutique hotel, so there was plenty of space for diners with a cool vibe to it. Service was good. For lunch I ordered the burger, which was A-OK. Though it was half-pound and made with angus beef, I was surprised by the lack of flavor. I ordered it medium-rare, but it was slightly overcooked to my liking. It came with a side of fries, which were on the thicker side and were perfectly fried. All in all, my lunch here was fine, but nothing memorable or would have me visiting again when in the area. The menu has a good list of items for lunch; but for the price, it seems like coming here for happy hour is worthwhile.

Yelp
There was a roach crawling on the wall next to our table! I was completely disgusted and immediately sick to my stomach (literally).. I informed the manager and instead of him comping our entire meal, he gave us 50% off, which to me is completely UNACCEPTABLE! If there is vermin in your establishment & your consumers are exposed to whatever it is, the consumer should NOT have to pay for ANYTHING & the establishment should be extremely apologetic! My friend and I reluctantly paid our bill & left! Where there is one there is more so I'll NEVER go here again. There are plenty of other brunch spots in the city, hopefully roach free!!!

Yelp
My review is based on Sunday brunch: Beacon is the perfect brunch spot if you want to celebrate a Birthday, have a large group and want to be seen! Located on the first floor of the Beacon Hotel. The brunch buffet is pretty typical with mini waffles, chicken , rice , a fruit station, a dessert station, breakfast potatoes, plantains, rice, bacon, grits, and eggs. I'm not drinking and They still charge $59 a person (including tax and gratify ) which is very expensive of you aren't even having mimosas !!!! They didn't tell me that upfront so I was kinda shocked. They offered orange juice and cranberry juice for the mimosas. I wish there was a Dj because it could really be a brunch /day party vibe ! They certainly have the space.

Yelp
I specifically set out to try BB&G Happy Hour & made it here with 5 mins to spare. Part of a boutique style hotel, the retro style bar area offers a colorful bar & red leather booths. Tiffany, our Bartender was generous with her service & casual social engagement. Standard HH menu offering food & drinks under $8 seven days a week, 4P-7P. Nestled in the Dupont neighborhood with street parking that's free on the weekends after 6P. To note, the restaurant has a two story lounge with an open air patio. A couple of blocks from the Farragut North Metro Station - Red Line. I'll definitely make my way back here, especially to visit the Sky Bar.

Yelp
We spent a long weekend in DC and had planned for dinners. This definitely doesn't match what I expected based on Yelp. The place was strange. My friend had made a reservation, yet when we got there nobody was at the host stand. We waited about 8 minutes and then my friend walked into the bar area to tell them we had a reservation and they told us to sit at this table in the bar. We expected to eat in the restaurant, which has a totally different menu, but the vibe was so weird we didn't say anything. Our waitress was not good at all. There were 5 of us (one tween and 4 adults) and she brought 3 menus. It took forever for her to come take a drink order and didn't want to take our appetizer order yet. We ended up ordering apps and our "dinners" at the same time. The food was ok. My friend got the tuna nachos and she said it was good. I got a quesadilla and it was fine, like what I could make at home. Hubby said the wings were pretty good. He also had a crab cake sandwich that was "fine". The burger was dry and boring. I was super underwhelmed by this place and do not recommend it if you want dinner. If you are looking for a low energy bar to have a drink and some bar food it will be fine.

Yelp
I placed an order to pick up at Beacon Bar and Grill. When I arrived they would not honor the Yelp Check-In offer for a free appetizer with the purchase of an entrée. The offer did not have any disclaimer that it was for dine in only. I would have not ordered the appetizer otherwise (or even ordered from Beacon Bar and Grill). The yelp check in offer was the reason I order dinner from here. My $19 Eggplant Involtini was pretty small. I did enjoy it but I was expecting something larger for almost twenty bucks. My meal here was definitely not one of the highlights of my trip to DC.

Yelp
Someone is going to have to explain the popularity of this brunch, because it is lost on me. My only guess is that people come for the options, of which there are many. It is mediocre, at best. The buffet brunch includes mimosas, and offers waffles, omelettes, fried chicken, jerk chicken, fish, pastas, vegetables, rice dishes, pastries, and more. The issue is that none of it is good. I found most dishes to be bland and flavorless. Fried chicken needed salt. Waffles needed longer in the waffle iron. Pasta was overcooked. Grits tasted like cardboard and weren't properly cooked. I did like the salmon with salsa verde and the Spanish rice. Some dishes, like the teriyaki seafood, didn't even look appealing. Mimosas were too heavy on the juice. We had reservations, and I was the first one there. They couldn't find the reservation. When my friend showed up, they were able to find. And they have the lame policy of not seating until most of the party is there, which, as many in D.C. food scene keep mentioning, is a policy that is starting to get real old, real quick, especially if you have reservations. We fought to get seated, and they seated our party of 11 at a table for 7, so then we had to fight to get moved. By the way, the host stand is a disaster. The staff cannot keep up with the phone calls, walk-ins, and reservations, so the tiny lobby gets crowded quickly. The decor is beautiful, and service ended up being great, but poor policies and bad food mean I will not be returning. There are way better brunches in D.C., including buffets, than what you get here. I'd try dinner or drinks here, but I'd never do brunch here again.

Yelp
Went here for Saturday brunch and we enjoyed the watermelon salad, Tex mex salad, chicken and waffles, burger and of course the champagne( I added cranberry juice to mine) and mismosas We had a great waitress and she was very attentive. We were celebrating a birthday and the piece of carrot cake with a bday candle being brought out was a nice touch. I only wish that the air conditioner worked better as we were a bit warm. I would definately recommend com

Yelp
The food is good, especially the salads and ravioli dish. Service is good too and the waiter is nice. The ambiance is good with lots of windows and open space.

Yelp
My ribeye was cold when it came out. I kept having little gnats land on my plate while I was eating. I asked the server for a Michelob ultra in which she said they didn't have any. I asked for a light beer and she said we don't have a light beer but we have this and handed me a Michelob ultra. It's entirely possible she just didn't understand me but it was weird. I ended up eating at the bar because you can't eat on the rooftop bar. I wanted to go up to the rooftop bar after in which they told me no because they weren't busy enough. It was an hour and a half before close on a Friday night. My food was absolutely not worth the price. The only reason I give it 2 stars is because the fries were super yummy.

Yelp
It was many years ago since I've been here not really sure if they made past the pandemic to reopen. The menu was very plentiful. I am a fan buffet style restaurant. Eggs white omelette assorted waffles and different kinds of meat options.

Yelp
When one of the best rooftop bars in DC has a 3.5 star rating on Yelp, you assume the worst. "The food must be so bad." "Maybe the service is just the worst." These are the thoughts running through my head as my team walked to Beacon for a business lunch on a Monday. After a two hour lunch meeting at Beacon, I left surprisingly impressed. Here's why: 1) The food: For being a 3.5 star rated restaurant on Yelp, I really enjoyed my meal. Warm, fresh bread kept flowing to our table to tie us over before our meal came. I ate a few pieces of bread only and I am so glad I didn't fill up on it because my fried chicken burger was amazing! It came with a sizeable, tasty side salad and the burger itself was amazing. It was a perfectly tender, white breaded chicken breast with cole slaw, bacon, and a spice mayo on it. Wow. 2) The service: Our server was friendly and attentive. 3) Atmosphere: We were seated in the sun room offering perfect lighting to our meeting and meal. I may not come here every weekend, but Beacon is an excellent option for a business lunch!

Yelp
I love coming to this buffet. The service is decent and the food is varied. We had an early reservation, and we were seated promptly. They do card everyone for drinks and remove glasses if you don't have identification. Seat placement is everything, most of the time I'm there, I'm very close to the buffet. I always forget to take pics. I'll be back, so maybe when I'm not enjoying the libations, I'll remember to take pics. Always go in a group, that experience is more fun!! Meet me at the scrambled eggs station!

Yelp
I was staying at Beacon and decided to check out the restaurant. It was a good option for not wanting to go outside. Drinks: I ordered a drink that was a spin on a mimosa. It was a little sweet for me but alright. I had heard it was slow, and given the higher price point and my short timeframe, I decided against eating. Service: Slow. Everyone was nice but maybe overstretched, as it was easy to stand for a few minutes before getting someone's attention. My server also made a big deal about needing to ID me because I looked so young; I have no problem with the IDing but always find comments on my age to be rude. Ambiance: This is the selling point. The upstairs was loud and lively. The downstairs, where I sat, was quiet, intimate, and kind of funky in its decoration. If you need to have a meeting or catch up on some work, it's not a bad stop. If I were staying at the hotel again, I would likely return to the downstairs area.

Yelp
Beacon Bar and Grill is one of the more interesting brunches I've had in DC. I believe they are known for their brunch buffet. When my friends and I (Party of 12ish) went to brunch on a Saturday we did not get the buffet. First, we were walked down some stairs and taken to a room full of mirrors sort of separated from what seemed to be everyone else dining there. I'm cool with separating a bunch of noise 20 somethings who are looking to do a bottomless brunch. Our server, whose name I forget, was fantastic. She was constantly going down the table filling up mimosas and water. She killed it. The food was pretty decent. The deal we had was an appetizer, and entree, and a dessert. So it was 3 courses + bottomless for $29.95 which is a helllll of a deal. I got the caesar as the appetizer and was pleased. I also tried some of the Basket of Breakfast Breads and they were good as well. I got the steak and eggs for my entree that came with home fries. Unfortunately, I had to add a ton of salt and pepper to all of it to get any flavor. It's such a bummer too because the steak was cooked perfect medium rare but just tasted like nothing. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their entrees though! I'd definitely recommend this place to any fellow brunch-goers and if/when I come back, I'll probably steer away from the steak. Everything else was good!

Yelp
Always a reliable relaxing venue, and for that a solid 4! BBG seems to be thriving to improve not only the venue but also the menu. This is my goto place when I don't feel like walking far, and because I had on my heeled boots today, a colleague and I settled in for lunch at BBG! Upon arrival, I checked in and with reservation for 2 on opentable, we got seated at my usual table on the corner---they know me here pretty well as my office is literally just across the street... Upon review of the menu, I ordered the special'wrap of the day-steak ceasar in wasabi sauce, which was very good. As an add on I also ordered the soup of the day-Lobster Bisque, and it was your typical bisque except this one had plenty of lump lobster in so it was bountiful! After eating my soup, which came first, I was already full. Still, I took a few bites of half of my wrap because they were very tasty and fresh! The service started slow as you can imagine we checked in during rush hour lunchtime at 12:30p. With my check in on yelp, I was offered a complimentary house wine, which I had to decline because it was a workday, it would be a faux faus to come back to the office smelling of any hint of CH3CH2OH---aw, my engineering chemistry is a bit blurry but close enough, I supposed...thanks Yelp but perhaps next time after work on happy hour! Overall a great experience, our server Miriam was very pleasant, she recommended the steak wrap over the Shrimp Nicoise, when I asked initially and I did like the wrap and since I just had shrimp a two days ago. As I said, my goto place for its convenient location, service, and ambience! Check out the Skybar during the warmer months, there's always music and other entertainment and really great place to hang out with colleagues and friends alike!

Yelp
I lived across The Beacon for a few months when I spent my semester in D.C. and absolutely loved their Saturday Brunch! I came here with my roommates and two close friends that were visiting and it was the perfect start to a winter day exploring D.C. and all that it has to offer. We did the three-course brunch menu for $35.95, which at first seemed steep but once we realized that bottomless mimosas were included for a little extra in addition to all the food, we were SOLD. -Bread Basket: While some of my friends opted for the salads, I was beyond excited to get the bread basket. The basket came with so many types of muffins and other goods that it was too much for even two people to eat. Make sure to save up for your entree! -Strawberry and Banana Smoothie: Got lucky and got to try this as well! Super fresh smoothie that's good during both cold and warm weather. -Steak and Eggs: Lowkey felt like I was living the dream when I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was medium rare as I had requested and absolutely incredible. The juicy steak + 2 eggs + breakfast potatoes was a hearty start to my day. -NY Style Cheese Cake: LOVE, you can't go wrong with this or the Tiramisu -Bottomless Mimosas: I mean they're mimosas...and their bottomless

Yelp
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! After a slight change of plans on the other side of the city, a friend and I decided to come here as I've had this place bookmarked for months now! We heard about their weekend brunch specials& happy hour, so were super excited to finally come and see what this place was all about. 1. Street parking in this area is just stressful. I work in Dupont Circle, and if it weren't for me having my own parking space @ the office I would never, ever drive. I suggest just paying for garage parking or going up Connecticut Ave and then just walking back 2. We called in about 30 mins before and made a reservation- seated immediately by the GM and hostess gave up options so we decided to grab a booth before it got busy. 3. The Saturday brunch menu consists of 1 app, 1 entrée, and 1 dessert WITH unlimited mimosas or Bloody Mary's all for $30. Can't beat that. I subbed my eggs for egg white and my total bill was like $35 with tax. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious. I was also soo happy they had turkey sausage (i don't eat pork and sometimes I get bummed out when I go places for brunch and they only have pork). My friend also love that the chicken& waffles came with three pieces of chicken that were seasoned VERY well. I hear Sundays are much busier, but we really enjoyed our time here. The service was great, the food came out at good time, and I just really liked the ambience. And our server just kept refilling those mimosas (I appreciate how the mimosas weren't poorly made with more OJ than champagne). There were about two private birthday parties happening on the other side of the restaurant, so everyone seated in the main dining room was away from that noise (this wasn't an issue for me at all). I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Beacon bar & grill is one of my favorite places Sunday for brunch in DC. The decor is attention grabbing without being overwhelming. The clientele is always upbeat and energetic. The servers truly make sure the mimosas are bottomless--rarely have I seen the bottom of my champagne glass when I dine at Beacon. The food is amazing! Perfectly kept temperature, always fresh. Oversized amazing omelettes cooked to order right in front of you. They've recently had some issues with the A/C-only reason for the 4 star review. No one likes to be hot while eating and sipping champagne! Ended up having to cut brunch a tad short because it became increasingly uncomfortable to be there. All in all this is still one of my favorite bunches in DC for the variety, freshness and ambiance!

Aileen K.

Yelp
Got the continental breakfast and it was exactly what you would expect. I chose bacon as my meat of choice and it came out as two long, perfectly-cooked pieces. It was a little too tough to cut so it had to be eaten with my hands. I definitely wonder how other guests eat it. The eggs were perfectly cooked with little to no salt, just the way I like it. The bread is grain, again, perfect. Ultimately, it got the job done so I was happy. It's not a five star meal though because it's pretty basic. Considering other breakfast/brunch places in the area for similar prices, it seemed a little too simple. And there aren't enough options....it's either really simple, like fruit and oatmeal, or a lot fancier, so this is the only real choice. If you are staying here and feel hungry, try Tabard Inn nearby!

Yelp
I will keep it short in this season of love and festivity. Beacon Sunday buffer has really one downhill in the past three or four years. Yesterday will be the last time we ever come by for the all-you-can-eat buffer brunch at $50 a head. Staff no longer cares about the customers and you can see that through the no-d-given attitude in labeling ("baked fish", "fried seafood" etc.) and the general approach to customers (omelet station and prime rib station). It is a shame that it used to be a great relaxing spot with decent food and great service. However, the service we received ytd no longer justify a visit back.

Yelp
- Nice Place. Decor and setting. - The guy that stands at the front did not greet us and we just kind of stood there and stared at him waiting to be greeted and seated. - They have a good $30 three course brunch option. - There was a moving fruit fly in the parfait. Yikes! They brought another one and it was good. - I had the garden omelet and potatoes. It was good. They give a lot of food. Which is good. - unlimited mimosas come with the three course - I'd just say they need better hosts at the entrance. I've watched about three groups come in and wonder around to find someone to seat them. - the orange juice is warm n the mimosas are too - they seem to be a little understaffed. Waited very long periods of time before our server returned.

This is literally my favorite brunch place. When I lived in DC I'd bring friends from out of town here and now everytime I come back I'm always here. It's great!

Yelp
Celebrated a birthday by having brunch here. We had an 1130 reservation for a party of 7 and were seated immediately. We used valet parking with the hotel. The food was good. Everyone was pleased with their meals. I ordered the steak, eggs, and breakfast potatoes. The steak was cooked to order and very tasty. Another party member ordered the chicken and waffles which were very good. It seemed to be popular as many people ordered it throughout the restaurant. As most of the experience was pleasant, I removed one star as the service could have been better. Also, the waitress seemed to have an attitude when we asked to have our BOTTOMLESS mimosas refilled. It was almost as if there was actually a limit as she took her time and we had to ask at least twice for refills.

Yelp
Different than what I expected. If you come here for brunch you will encounter a buffet ranging from Mac n cheese to chicken and waffles. It was crowded on the day we went so we found a place at the bar. Food tasted good. However a few chicken wings still had feathers on them so my advice is make sure you clean up your meat before serving. Otherwise no other concerns with the food itself. However: Before we were about to leave a small roach crawled across the bar! Also a fight almost broke out between a group of 17 women against 1 girl. But was broken up by the staff. But it was not cool. Especially paying 60 a piece for a meal. I probably will not be back because who knows what's going on in that kitchen. Eat there at your own discretion. I'm only one opinion. Lastly, Richard the bartender was awesome. He was funny and kept the energy high and drinks flowing.

Yelp
My love of watermelons is perhaps only surpassed by my love of LAW & ORDER. Thus I cannot resist telling you that the single occupancy women's bathroom near the host stand at the Beacon Bar smelled like watermelons and contained a flat screen TV upon which LAW & ORDER was playing last night. The several minutes (okay maybe it was more like fifteen. . .) I spent in the WC was the highlight of my night at the Beacon, which probably says a lot about how compelling the bar was. Happy hour here includes a number of "house martinis" (cosmo, lemon drop and the like) in the under $6 range. And yet, I'm fairly unmotivated to return here. One more thing: this place is definitely NOT a Kimpton property.

Yelp
Tried for a lunch here a little before happy hour and my ever so young and clueless waiter "Na*e" had me constantly waiting to be served. So I can't review anything if I did not EAT!!!!! However I did have one drink. I really wanted to like this joint! Ugh!!!!! Oh my bad his excuse was that he had a party of 5 come in and he sorta forgot I ordered! Ummm good luck getting a job at a busier establishment with larger parties

Yelp
Came here for Brunch on Sunday with no reservations and had a blast! We were seated immediately. Our waitress was wonderful and brought drinks out promptly. The Bruch is buffet style with bottomless drinks, all for $50. The food options were fantastic. I literally enjoyed everything that I added to my plate. Our waitress checked in with us regularly and kept our drinks filled. The jerk chicken was to die for - falling off the bone good. Also, it was my birthday and they brought me cake and ice cream. It was a really great time I look forward to returning!

Yelp
Shrimp and Grits had zero flavor and Lobster omelette was over cooked. Mimosas were watered down. Received coupon from Open Table for 15% off brunch, Beacon would not honor. Never coming here again.

Yelp
A group of us visited Beacon in January for Sunday brunch. For $54.95+, we had bottomless mimosas and the buffet. Food was yummy and the experience was great. Fast forward to today... I decided to come back to Beacon to celebrate a friend's birthday. I was on the bench/booth seating and my friend saw a roach, crawling up, near my head. We asked for the manager. He comes over for maybe a minute and tells us he's going to give us 25% off our check. Mmkay. That's all? While I'm discussing this horror with my crew, we hear a scream from across the room. A lady at that table saw a roach too! The entire table got up and left. What are the odds... 2 roach sightings within 10 minutes. Needless to say, we will not be back. And I've already spread the word to everyone I know who has eaten here before. Sad, because the food & mimosas were pretty good!

Yelp
Mediocre at best. Moving into the new WeWork office across the street so we stop by for lunch. Ordered the crab cake sandwich which was meh. Bot much crab...maybe frozen bit not sure. Fries are nice amd crunchy. Coworkers order the burger, salmon salad and they seem to like their dishes but nothing too special. Better than the 'Firehouse Subs' food truck outside the WeWork but that's not saying much.

Yelp
Stopped by this venue to meet a friend for happy hour. We each ordered cocktails and small plates from the happy hour menu. The wings were very tasty and the quesadilla was just ok to me. The drinks weren't bad - not as strong as I would like, but they got the job done :) Service was great though. I'll definitely be back to check out their brunch (which I heard is good).

Yelp
As one of Logan/Scott Circle's best eating establishments, Beacon Bar & Grill is romantic, well-lit and cozy all at the same time. A nice Sunday morning tradition for brunch or lunch with family and/or friends. Beacon was also a hit for the kiddies during Kid's Restaurant Week in 2009. The 3-course menu selection was very much age-appropriate, and included an appetizer, entree and dessert (sundae of their choice) was something even I'd enjoy (and I am 30+ years old). I tried their Saturday Brunch over the weekend and it was delish. Their three-course, Prix-Fixe meal was just the right portion and left me satisfied for hours. The Cast Iron Cinnamon Rolls was a perfect start to a great meal. At $19.95, I'm glad I stopped by. I've already made plans for a second visit. Beacon is a good choice for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even weekday Happy Hour.

Yelp
Went to the Beacon for Sunday brunch. The food was good, particularly the salads and brussel sprouts. The pasta was horrible as were the seafood selections. The most disappointing thing was we paid $50 per person for brunch and there was no air conditioning. We were literally sweating the entire time. The women's restroom was being repaired and there was no notice on the door so I walked into men in the women's restroom doing work on the toilets. The waitress seemed annoyed that we sat for a while after eating to finish our champagne and mimosas.

Yelp
So I came here to celebrate my mother's birthday....and it was decent. The parking situation literally is what is to be expected on the weekends. We attempted to make use of Beacon's private garage, which is $10 for 2 hours however, they were already filled up. It's truly best to make two separate reservations....within a 30min span using a friend's opentable...and then to cancel yours when you're down to the 9 min mark. Because again, parking is limited! There is a church right down the street. So peace and blessings! The food was average. My favorite part was the waffle station. I would've liked my omelette in my mind but, their was a language barrier. I asked for turkey bacon and the omelette guy proceeded to put turkey sausage then actual bacon in my omelette. And at that point I had waited a long time in line. And it just wasn't worth it. What I will say is to expect for people to bump into you and to not say excuse me. You can expect loud and huge laughter from other customers. Absolutely, no inside voices. So it's best to not bring older people here. Or if you are, stick to the 11am brunch hour. The price is decent only if you'll take advantage of the unlimited mimosas. I did not. I had the iced tea which, isn't sweet. So would I come back again, nope! I'm not much of a buffet girl. Two plates then I am done. But, anything for mother dear

Yelp
$5 dollar martinis at Happy Hour! They have a huge banner advertising it but only 3 drinks were $5 and then the rest are 7-10 or more. They were pretty good martinis. One tasted like I was drinking chocolate milk. Overall, it was a cool atmosphere. Very relaxed, it had a very nice atmosphere My friend who got the chicken quesadilla loved it. The drinks weren't too strong but okay for their price.

Yelp
I went for Sunday Brunch. Brunch is buffet style and comes with bottomless mimosas. It'll run you about $45-$50 but it is well worth it. Customer service is fantastic. Our waitress was very attentive. My mimosa glass and my water glass was never empty. :) Get there before 12:30 pm or there will be a wait. I encourage making reservations.

Yelp
At 17th and Rhode Island, Beacon has the benefit of being both accessible to many different business areas of the city and not prone to an excessive lunch rush. It is a perfect spot for a quick business lunch with respectable decor and a noise level that is low enough to conduct a normal-voice conversation. The lunch menu is limited but all the choices (burger, chicken panini, salmon club) are fine. The soups, which are mediocre, still do fine as the side to your sandwich. It doesn't look or taste like restaurant food, but rather homemade. Being a hotel restaurant, it is here for convenience rather than flair, but for downtown prices, I think most of the items could be a little more skillfully assembled rather than something I could scrape together from my fridge before leaving in the morning. I work on 16th, which has virtually no food from the White House to the Maryland border. Chances are your situation is better and you could probably skip this. Please note this is a lunch-exclusive review and cannot offer any advice about their Sunday brunch.

Yelp
Like a pet raccoon, I found this place very bite-y. Why do I say that? Because I sat outside for brunch and was attacked by mosquitoes! They feasted on me and turned my usually slender and attractive ankles into cankles, what with the welts and the swelling. Otherwise, the place was okay. Good spread for a Sunday buffet. I loved the waffles. Bacon was good. Various salads were tasty. I didn't have an omelet, but they looked good. I was surprised to see corn dogs, so I was all over that! Desserts looked good but I was too stuffed to try any. They serve unlimited mimosas or bloody marys. I felt there was discrimination there. I had a bloody mary and my friends had mimosas. There was a dude with a pitcher of mimosas walking around filling glasses, while I practically had to crawl across a litter box full of broken glass to get a refill on my bloody mary. I felt severely slighted. Having said said that, I'd probably go back.

Yelp
Came here for brunch on a Saturday and everything was great from the service to the food. Waiter filled up mimosas every time we sipped lol. Salmon was good. Friends said the breakfast tacos were great, they couldn't even eat them all. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
This brunch review has been a long time coming as I have been to Beacon Brunch multiple times. The best thing about this place is their availability, large seating areas, oh and the PRICE. I have never been to the buffet on Sunday's as I am not convinced this is actually worth it, but the Saturday prefix is worth the money and is more than enough food! Reservations are a good idea, but this bar has more room than you would think. Everyone has to participate and they can be slow on service, but drink fast and flag your waiter because once everyone pays you are cut off! The three course meal is great. Starts with a soup or salad, then brunch main, and to top it off is a piece of cheese cake or chocolate cake. I always opt for the salad, it's actually pretty good. I've tried the breakfast burger, Huevos, salmon eggs benny, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits (what am I missing). Tbh eggs Benny for the win - always. Setting is in a hotel basement, unless your lucky enough to get the window tables. Great for big groups and reasonably priced! I'm not into bottomless food so this is a great alternative!

Yelp
I stayed at the Beacon Hotel and dined in their restaurant twice. The first time was for happy hour where I was thoroughly unimpressed. My first two drinks were free as a result of receiving complimentary drink coupons as a perk from the hotel, but I was still thoroughly, thoroughly unimpressed. I had a champagne specialty cocktail that was disgusting and the bartender was hard to track down. He either wasn't behind the bar or was playing on his cell phone( I've included a photo). We had the wings and quesadillas, Neither of which were good. They drink specials were decent though and it was nice to get three dollar beer and lemon drop shots, and the specialty mule cocktail was pretty good but didn't make up for the poor service and nasty food. I particularly enjoyed the omelette station even though the chef there gave me someone else's omelette and told me I was mistaken when I informed him of this. The other person came to claim their omelette, so thankfully he realized that I knew I was talking about. He also gave another woman a hard time saying she didn't ask for a certain item in her omelette when I was standing there and heard her ask for it. Our server Tom was fantastic! He brought our Mamosa's immediately and refilled them frequently, remembering to check on us and clear our empty plates as well. We both loved the decor and atmosphere of the dining room as well. This is a great place for an amazing Sunday brunch or to celebrate a special occasion or treat friends from out of town. I highly recommend the brunch but wouldn't do the happy hour again.

Yelp
Brunch for one of my besties bday! Everything was amazingly delicious!!! Staff was very friendly and courteous!!! Endless mimosas made it even better!!! Will be back for sure!!!
