"Housed in side-by-side 19th-century townhouses amid the gas streetlights and cobblestoned streets of Boston 's Beacon Hill, the high-end Beacon Hill Hotel retains a distinctly European feel. The original owners and neighborhood residents Peter and Cecilia Rait bought the properties with the intent of opening a hotel and bistro. Nowadays, the property is managed by Saunders Hotel Group, but the who’s-who clientele hasn’t changed. Since the hotel opened in 2000, the intimate property has hosted innumerable A-listers seeking a lower profile, including Todd English. Each of the 13 rooms has plantation shutters, pedestal sinks, flat-panel TVs with DirecTV, and windows that actually open for fresh air. The second-floor common area invites guests to meet and mingle. Plus, the hotel has a private, residential-feeling roof terrace overlooking Charles Street, perfect for morning coffee or afternoon reading."

Amazing boutique hotel in the heart of Beacon Hill. So charming. Updated. Wonderful bar and restaurant. Ambience is perfect. Franklin, the hotel manager, was so professional and hospitable. We will definitely be back.

Best mattress ever, and the room was snug but pretty -- though unfortunately we were across from the elevator even though the hotel didn't seem full by any means. The location is ideal for wandering around Beacon Hill, Newbury Street, and/or seeing a show at the Colonial. Complimentary wine is nice but the bar closed at 8pm!? and no juice at breakfast. Would go again anyway.

I love the ambiance and team here at the BHH. They are so incredibly accommodating and friendly, and I love how "local" it feels in the area. The food and drinks are fantastic as well--the dark chocolate cheesecake is heavenly!! I've literally never had a bad time here and that's why it's one of my favorite spots to go to for good food and great company. The rooms are really unique and the art is all from locally sourced galleries. I can't say enough great things!

Google
Great location and hotel was super quaint. While there were a few dust bunnies on either side of the bed where built ins are, the room/bathroom were very clean. The whole hotel just smelled clean. My only complaint: no face cloths in bathroom. We would definitely stay here again.

Google
Neat, small hotel in a great location. Interior decor is tasteful, modern, and whimsical. Room was quiet and very comfortable with views directly onto Charles St. Lively bar scene. Tasty breakfast included. Staff was very friendly and with one exception very responsive.

Google
This is a superb boutique hotel in the heart of historic Boston. Just a block off the Boston Commons and on a quaint shopping street. Very accommodating staff. Great bar and restaurant. Small but very comfortable rooms. Totally rebuilt about two years ago.

Google
The location and the room we stayed in were amazing. The hotel is located in the most perfect spot in Boston. The staff treated us with genuine kindness and helped us with a late checkout due to a late flight time.||||I feel like the hotel quality could be improved in a few areas which would make it a real hidden gem. The room we stayed in was near the server rack area which was extremely loud. The maid has to get into the room to get supplies so its constantly being open and is extremely annoying. I feel like that could be an easy fix. Also the check in area is located right next to the bar and really not a great area. It would take some construction from the hotel to change it, but well worth it.

Google
Love this excellent small hotel but the shower was severely lacking in hot water both days unfortunately. Otherwise a great stay! The rooms are small but beautiful, reminiscent of small European hotels. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Stopped here for brunch when walking around Beacon Hill. They weren't too crowded and we were able to be seated very quickly. The patio seating was convenient and lively with people walking around. Our food was very good and came out quickly. I found the omelette and potatoes to be a bit on the milder side taste wise but went well with hot sauce.

Rowan F.

Yelp
The food was excellent and was delivered quickly. The burger was cooked as ordered but wasn't dry or over seasoned. The rating is mostly because the outdoor seating was very tight quarters and we were absolutely swarmed by bees. Multiple tables of diners moved inside because of the pests.

Robert C.

Yelp
Not a lot on the menu, and what there was didn't deliver. The menu online is out of date, and more limited than shown. The actual current menu is immediately less attractive than that which is shown online. Also, the online prices don't reflect the prices on the menu provided in the restaurant - eg the burger is $24 not $21, the chicken dish is $34 not $30, and lamb chops are $45 not $36. I had what sounded like a fancy pasta dish, although the waitress said it was her first day and didn't actually know what it was. It turned out to be pasta with tomato sauce, with a few bits of bacon. Very boring - I wouldn't order again. A small basket of not terribly great bread was $9. With two adults (risotto + the above), two 7 years olds (burger and plain butter pasta) and one twelve year old (Bolognese), it was $300. That included two small glasses of run of the mill Pinot Grigio ($25 each!!!!) and two Cosmopolitans - and also one burrata appetizer (which came with no bread). All in all, not a cost effective family meal out, with nothing to go back for again. We have been going to this restaurant for nearly 15 years under at least three different sets of management/ownership, but every time we return it seems to get more expensive, and the food reduce in quality. Unsurprisingly, while the bar remains quite popular (despite only a minority of current bar staff knowing how to make very standard cocktails), the restaurant always appears to be nearly empty - a continued cycle of price increases and reduction in quality and service is only likely to further contribute to that. In future, if at all, we will be sticking to the bar. In summary, competent management reflecting what BHB previously had to offer under prior ownership is urgently needed.

Yelp
I am sad to write this as we live nearby and I love when local places do well. We have gone here ~6 times since the reopening. Each time we went we were just two people, sat at the bar, and had very good food and service. Friday night, we had a group of 8 people in the dining room. It was a disaster. We arrived at 7:00, were promptly seated, and the waiter took our drink order. He returned 15 minutes later and said the bar was busy and it would be a little longer. I felt sorry for him and he was very apologetic. At 8:15, yes, 1 hour and 15 minutes later, our cocktails came. We had order food around 7:45 and it arrived at the same time. To say it was a buzzkill would be an understatement,. Again, the waiter was also mortified and they comped several drinks and a dessert but I would urge anyone who is having a larger group to question if this is the place to go. Toscanno, a favorite of locals, is THE best place but we were really hoping this could be another go to place. A sad sad evening that has unfortunately ended our journeys there anymore.

Yelp
We had heard great things about the brunch at Beacon Hill Hotel, but unfortunately, our experience didn't match the hype. It took over 15 minutes for our server to come to our table. When they finally arrived, they mentioned they would send something to make up for the delay, which was a nice gesture. However, nothing ever arrived. While I didn't initially expect anything, it was odd to be told something was coming if it wasn't. At the end of our meal, when we were ready for the bill, we were informed that our check had been mixed up with another table's. We had to repeat our order to the server, who then took several minutes to sort things out, only to end up charging us for the other table's bill. Although the total was roughly the same, the whole experience felt disorganized and peculiar. The food was good but not exceptional. There are better brunch spots with more reliable service.

Brooke C.

Yelp
I went here for the rooftop bar and loved it. They don't take reservations for the roof, so you have to order your drinks at the bar and then you are welcome to bring them up to the little 3rd floor roof deck where there are about 5 tables. I got the hibiscus drink and the watermelon/cucumber drink. Both were delicious. Overall, I have no complaints!

Bill R.

Yelp
The bar is nice. It's comfortable and the staff are nice. I also think food is really good. However, $24.00 for one Aperol Spritz? You feel like you're being taken. I know we are in the middle of high inflation, but the same drink in the same neighborhood is $15.00 at The Whitney Hotel and at 75 Chestnut, and just about anywhere else in Boston.

Yelp
I was struggling to find somewhere to get breakfast on Saturday morning at 11:30 without waiting for 2 hours and thought I was out of luck. I saw this place on yelp and noticed it was right across the street and not busy. They do brunch on weekends from 9-2:30. I was seated right away at a beautiful outdoor table at my request. I got a latte which was fabulous and the beacon hill breakfast which included eggs, bacon, potatoes , sourdough toast, and half an avocado. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I LOVE the revamped Beacon Hill Hotel Bar/Restaurant. The décor is gorgeous and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend the burger and the fried zucchini! Great for date night or for a big group.

Yelp
What an amazing place to stay if you're in downtown Boston. 1 block from the public garden and Boston common, near the freedom trail, state house, city hall, downtown crossing shopping, all transportation and parking within a block. Still, with the ambience of a small hotel you feel like your stay is in the countryside of tree lined and quiet Beacon hill on the iconic Charles street. The staff could not be kinder and more attentive the senior manager Austin who speaks a number of languages, knows philosophy, well versed in the area and anything you want to know. James and Kattie, desk clerks and dinner reservations were at the top of their game. If service, food, ambiance and location is what you are looking for look no further.

Jon M.

Yelp
Had dinner for the first time here on a Sunday evening (reservation was at 7 pm). First the positives: servers were friendly and initially attentive. Food was very good. Negatives: when placing first drink orders (around 7:30pm) we were told the bar was closed. Wine, beer, and "simple drinks" were available. Not sure why the restaurant was open and the bar was not. No explanation was given. After finishing our entrees, the server simply brought the check. When asked if dessert, tea, etc., were available we were told the kitchen was closed. This would've been fine but we were never informed that it was closing and if we wanted anything else to put an order in. For a rather high-end establishment the service should be better.

Yelp
So I'll be honest--we came from the Public Garden Park and really had to pee. Starbucks was packed so we stumbled upon this joint. Lucky find! We weren't SUPER hungry so we had gotten starters, but we were happy with our find! This Beacon Hill spot leads to a very quaint part of the neighborhood near the famed "Acorn Street". Today is Labor Day so business was not as usual and they had such a busy weekend they were missing menu items. Nonetheless, food was pretty good! I highly recommend the Grilled Flatbread. Between the mozzarella, marinara, and basil, I was in heaven Also, the bathrooms are clean and are downstairs, in case you were wondering!

Pearl M.

Yelp
This place receives five stars because of the prompt service on a Sunday Morning. I originally went to a place down the street where the line was outrageous but once I found beacon hill, there was no line and I was greeted/sat down right away. Our server was Lily and she had great customer service. The menu had lots of options! We got the fried egg sandwich blt & the skirt steak and eggs! Everything was cooked to perfection and the servings were large. We also started out with the yogurt. I highly recommend visiting this place. The ambiance was pretty and gave a relaxing vibe. It was not loud in there or packed. Please go!

Yelp
Since the beacon hill hotel & bistro opened, I've been here four times as a go-to restaurant night out - it is just so good! The interior and atmosphere is incredible; elegantly moody with customized interior decor in every nook. The food is INCREDIBLE. Cavatelli is one of my favorites, and if there is ever a beef cheek on special it's a must. Really, really refined and well thought out Italian dishes and excellent wine in the most luxe of atmospheres: I'll keep coming back and introducing this place to friends and fam without a doubt.

Marie R.

Yelp
Had an amazing evening dining at the Beacon Hill Bistro tonight. They accomodated our large party. Each person loved their meal. My salmon was so good. The service staff was so warm and friendly. I will go there again real soon@

Gerald N.

Yelp
Great brunch spot. Came on a weekend day with a reservation and it was half full. Service was friendly and fast as well as the staff. The bistro itself is shaped like a long rectangle which was nice with the windows looking out to Beacon Hill. Prices were reasonable for a city-restaurant for brunch around $20. 1. Spiked cider - 3.8/5. Not much alcohol but does come hot and with a cinnamon stick. 2. Lobster benedict - 4.2/5. Devoured the entire thing. They give plenty of lobster which went well with the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. Overall, I'll come back for more brunch and recommend this as a solid brunch spot!

Miss M.

Yelp
Not sure where to go with this review. Went to dinner the other night, it was delicious, but it was so cold that I was miserable and we left before ordering dessert or having additional drinks. Not sure I would go back. It's a middle of the winter. Perhaps they could put the heat on instead has cold air blowing on us. Nothing cozy about that!

Javier R.

Yelp
So what's happens when your plan is to go to one place but the line is out the door and down the street? Quickly look around like a crazy person and find the "beacon hill hotel & bistro! Great find! Brunch was everything you need to fill up for a awesome day of exploring. The menu had a nice selection of different items and the service was quick and friendly. I recommend you try the prosciutto arugula and cured tomato omelette. Delicious, hardy and everything you need to satisfy that morning hunger. They also have opinions if you want something on the healthier side. The restaurant was very clean, elegant and ambiance was very nice. So if you're ever in the Boston Beacon Hill area check this spot out.

Yelp
My wife and I walked in to Beacon Hill Hotel looking for lunch, and I am so glad we did. I had eaten at the hotel's bistro when it was under prior ownership and enjoyed it (although the service was a little slow) and I have been waiting for the hotel to open up again so I could see what the restaurant was like. To start with, the greeter was fantastic, going to great lengths to get us a table we wanted and to explain the menu. It really gave me great hopes for the whole experience. And I was not disappointed! I ordered the burger (which was FANTASTIC) and my wife had the quinoa. The service was excellent, walking that sometimes elusive line between being solicitous and intrusive. They were there when we needed something, but not constantly checking up on us. I only wish I hadn't left my phone at home so I could have taken photos of what we ate. I will be back!

Jenn S.

Yelp
For how fancy this place is, I would expect it to be better. Don't get me wrong - I devoured my entire plate (scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries), but I also hadn't eaten anything. It wasn't BAD, it just wasn't the most amazing breakfast food I've had. The eggs needed more seasoning. The sausage and potatoes were delicious, though. The ambiance is obviously really nice - I went with 3 other moms and we all wanted a kid-free environment. This delivered. It was so nice to have a quiet, calm conversation! Our server was very nice and service was quick. We finished with plenty of time to get to our show. So if you're looking for a place to eat before seeing a play, I'd recommend it. And the bowl of Lindt chocolates on the way out was a special treat. :)

Yelp
Came here on an usually hot day in April while visiting Boston. My hubby and I had a 10:15 reservation. When we walked in, the hostess said "I'll be right with you" and then disappeared into the back for... a while. I thought this was a little odd. Finally one of the waiters, Hector, sat us. Nicely decorated, timeless look. It was almost 80 degrees in the restaurant and we had to tell them how uncomfortable we were. Eventually they put the A/C on, thank goodness, because I was going to walk out if it continued to be that hot. The food was pretty good and the portions were HUGE. I ordered a smoked salmon omelet, which came with a piece of focaccia bread and homefries. Everything was delicious, but I could not finish it because it was so big. My husband ordered a corn beef hash dish, which was also very tasty. They have Lindt truffles instead of mints on your way out - sweet!

Yelp
Came to Beacon Hill for a Sunday dinner before heading out of Boston early the next morning. The restaurant is located on a beautiful street and the candles in the window are welcoming as your walk past. The menu had lots of tasty looking options. Others in our party started with soup or salad. The soup was served in a small bowl than I was expecting but the salad was a generous portion. I guess that evens out? I decided on the Scallop pasta for my entree. The pasta was clearly homemade with that soft texture that makes it wonderful. The scallops were well cooked and there was just enough sauce in the bowl to keep everything light and flavorful. Even for the large portion, I wish there had been more pasta. Maybe it was the plating but the bowl was so big and it gave the illusion that you weren't getting a full portion. As other reviewers have noted, service was slow. We had great conversation at our table but at times I was left wondering what was the hold up. I would return to Beacon Hill Bisto in the future but may try some of Boston's other eateries first.

Gaia R.

Yelp
The hotel and restaurant just recently reopened after renovation with new ownership, so the old reviews and photos do not apply anymore. I just had a wonderful meal at the restaurant, and I am so happy I finally have a place I can recommend in Beacon Hill! It was a quick brunch with my toddler, (ok, but hear me out) and we shared french toast and the Parisien sandwich. The french toast was outstanding: a perfect custard inside, crispy on the outside, served with a lemony crème fraiche and jammy blueberries. Excellent baguette for the sandwich, and the fries (always a good test to see if a kitchen takes anything for granted) were impressive. The only thing I found disappointing was the hot chocolate, really watery and too sweet. I would have loved a thicker, darker, more decadent cup of chocolate, European-style. So hard to find around here! Hosts and servers were kind, friendly, and really attentive. I am excited to try the dinner menu, this time sans toddler and not dressed like a fugitive (the place is really nice, and well decorated).

Michelle C.

Yelp
I'm incredibly hesitant to write this review and expose this spot for fear that it'll, too, become teeming with people on the weekends. This place gets 5 stars for its lovely brunch service because they have consistently well-executed food, consistent service, and you. can. always. get. a. table. Some may think this is a bad thing, but truly, it's only bad if the food isn't fresh or service isn't good, or some other terminal flaw. It's really just a hidden gem, tucked away in plain sight on Charles. I love trying out new hot spots but sometimes you wake up on a weekend morning and just don't feel like waiting in line to get a table. You want your food, and you want it now! If that's the case, come to BHB. TL;DR: You're not going to find fruity pebbles crusted french toast stuffed with nutella here, but you can get a damn good benny and you can get it without waiting.

Alexandra S.

Yelp
I've been to this pretty bistro for lunch several times over the past few years and in general it's been a pleasant experience. I took a friend there yesterday for lunch to congratulate her on a new job. We arrived right around noon and there were only a couple of tables filled. The restaurant is long and narrow with a charming black and white tile floor, dark wood and the overal ambiance of a true French bistro. This establishment also includes an attached boutique hotel and while I've never stayed there, photos of the rooms look lovely. The bistro serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner with most of the menu showcasing typical French bistro fare. Some of the lunch options include: Frisee salad with soft poached egg with anchovy vinaigrette, lentil and farro pave with baby spinach, moules frites with leeks, a fresh chevre omelet and steak frites. My friend ordered the steak salad and I ordered the roasted eggplant, pepper and Gruyere sandwich which came with polenta "fries", and a mesclun salad on the side. There is a nice looking wine list but we drank iced teas. My friend said her steak salad was good. It certainly was a nice-sized portion attarctively plated. I really enjoyed my veggie sandwich which was served toasted and more like a panino which was to my liking. As a polenta fan, I loved how they cut it into squares and fried the pieces for a "fries" effect. However these "fries" didn't pair well with the small ramekin of ketchup with which they were served. I think perhaps a rosemary infused olive oil and vinegar mixture might have been a better accompaniment although they were fine eaten just plain. While I like very little salad dressing dressing to begin with, there was none at all on the mesclun greens on the plate. They were just a dry little green heap. As we sat there, the place did fill up but nonetheless the service was attentive while not being obtrusive. Water and iced tea glasses were filled regularly. The prices are a little high and once again as is typical for this area the excuse will be that this is Beacon Hill. Overall this place is more of a 3.5 rounded up to 4. A little more focus on the plating and accompaniments and it would be a solid 4. It's a good option in the neighborhood where other lunch places tend not to be as nice and usually feel more chaotic. Apparently if you stay at the hotel, there are packages which include breakfasts and dinners at the bistro. Might be nice deal for someone wanting to stay in the Beacon Hill area when visiting Boston.

Ijeoma O.

Yelp
Came here for restaurant week in Boston and the place is alright but nothing special. It's a small intimate venue that'd be nice for a date night or celebratory dinner. The staff was really friendly but the service was a bit slow. The food was good but nothing memorable. I planned to order the duck but they ran out of that, so I settled for the roast chicken breast which was cooked nicely and tasted fine. However, the dessert was a huge disaster. They ran out of two of the desserts. I ended up getting the strawberry trifle and it was chalky and tasteless. My friend ordered the brownie sundae it had small pieces of brownie and cookie in it but they were both dry and seemed old. However, I really appreciated the chefs honesty when he came out and told us they were having difficulties with their desserts and brought us both Creme Brûlées, which tasted great. I'm hoping the let down was because it was restaurant week and they overwhelmed but I'll pass on coming here again.

Yelp
Lovely rooftop. We bought drinks at he bar and headed up here. Great pit stop in Beacon Hill We didn't eat so can't talk about the food

Yelp
Brunch in Boston was Beautiful. Eggs, meat and seafood, pancakes, french toast, soup, yogurt - the menu was absolutely elegant. And it had love in it. Yes, there was love in my Spinach Omelet ($12) - tender eggs rolled around bright fresh greens, a generous hit of goat cheese, and piquillo peppers (sweet little red things). The side of breakfast potatoes were squishy and crispy and nicely browned, and the artisan bread was yeasty and crunchy. It was more than I could finish. Cookie had the Smoked Salmon on Rye with avocado mousse, topped with shaved red onion ($13). The presentation was amazing, the serving was extremely generous, and the combination of ingredients was nicely balanced. Splendid. The Egg Sandwich ($11) was a perfect portion - delightful in its simplicity - artisan English Muffin, aged cheddar, smokey chewy bacon - and those amazing potatoes: good choice for the little ones at your table. Puppy's Grilled Sirloin Burger ($14) was excellent, and they were happy to sub a side salad for the house made potato chips, much to my chagrin, as I wanted some. This classy little bistro can boast best quality ingredients, carefully prepared and presented in a sunny but sophisticated setting. Brunch is served at BHH&B Saturday and Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Bravo!!!

Yelp
Always one of my favorites in Beantown. Breakfast or Dinner:) Steak Frites tonight, gold star.

J. B.

Yelp
Real-life 3.5 stars. Nicely decorated spot w/ the French bistro vibe, which I am sure thy are going for. Service was a little slow to get the first drink, but that could potentially be chalked up to a wait at the bar; otherwise it was good. Steak Tartare to start was under-seasoned, but still pretty tasty; it was in desperate need of cracked black pepper. My wife loved her Chicken Under a Brick, but I wasn't wowed by the Steak Frites. The steak was under-salted, and there was no char/sear whatsoever on the exterior, and therefore lacked flavor. The butter on top did help it out a bit, and the fries were excellent and seasoned properly. Great offerings on the wines by the glass.

Annie F.

Yelp
This is an intimate bistro with lots of small tables. There's a bar at the front of the restaurant when you first come in. It's a good spot if you're a tourist or a local as both end up at this restaurant. I'd recommend coming here for brunch! With tops of windows, it because beautifully sundrenched and you will have a cheery time with friends. Dinner is also a good choice. I've enjoyed both the steak frites and the salmon. The food is good and well presented.

Lecia S.

Yelp
Great location but hotel failed to exceed our expectations. Bed was queen size but felt more like a full? Bed was also very hard and very uncomfortable. Room was very small. TV was mounted to the right side of the bed so you had to lay sideways to watch TV. Shower head was mounted on the longer wall so on order to take a shower you had to remove the shower head and manually hold it for a hot shower, ridiculous. Closet was not even large enough to hang your coat. Will never go back.

Alan G.

Yelp
Overall: 4 Food: 4 Service: 4 Value: 3 Decent brunch place. Came here with 2 others on a Sunday around noon and there was about a 20 minute wait. I had a smoke salmon bagel and some eggs with meat. The bagel was a little tough, but overall the food was solid, though not extraordinary.

Tulay L.

Yelp
It is a neat, clean hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We stated in a king room. The bed was large enough for us butit occupied a large space in the room. Yet we could walk around it. The hotel , especially the dining room seemed dark for us. Their dining room was full of customers, most of them came in groups. Perhaps we chose the wrong entrees or it was not a good night for the chef, we did not enjoy our meal much. Perhaps the dark atmosphere was also a factor. Overall forus it was a very pleasant and neat hotel to stay. It is also in a very convenient location. We certainly consider staying there again.

Brian G.

Yelp
New player in town beautiful courtyard outback... Hotel is not missing a beat most friendly staff and on point as they possibly can be food and drinks summer night perfect

Adara A.

Yelp
My husband and I were looking for a nice brunch spot while strolling down Charles street today. We were so lucky to come across this cute place! We had no wait and were seated right away. Now let's talk about the food. The brunch here was possibly one of the best brunches we have ever had. The food was so delicious that we were already discussing coming back with our family next time they are in town! This place is a brunch must!

Nina-Marie C.

Yelp
Had dinner here last night - Christmas Eve. Ordered the steak frites. I ordered medium/well. Still ended up rare. Absolutely NO FLAVOR whatsoever! Worcestershire sauce did not help. Even the fries didn't taste great. The appetizers were nothing to write home about. Either hire a new chef or get better recipes. Definitely would not recommend.

Yelp
I checked into the Beacon Hill Hotel in the dead of winter. Case in point: I had to leap over a snow bank on the sidewalk to get from the cab to the front door. Thankfully, it was warm and toasty inside this charming, tiny hotel. The friendly bloke at the front desk personally showed me to my room. I felt immediately at home. And even better, when I got hungry later that evening I easily snagged a table in the bistro (a fabulous perk when there's no chance of you getting outside to grab dinner.) I loved the neighborhood with its narrow streets, sweet shops and historical feel. The next morning, I took advantage of breakfast (included in the room rate) and boy did those soft scrambled eggs ever get my morning off right! My only complaint with the Beacon Hill Hotel? The freezing cold bathroom. I'd creep in there, flip on the heater switch and run out until it warmed up enough for me to use the facilities. If you want to stay in a place that feels like a well-appointed guestroom in someone's home the Beacon Hill Hotel makes an excellent option!

Brian S.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I were in Boston on Saturday morning and decided to come here for brunch because it was close to the hotel we were staying at. We were pretty much ignored for about 10 minutes once we sat and even after getting coffee the waiter didn't circle back to take our orders. My girlfriend got the breakfast burrito, which ended up having a piece of plastic in it. We told the waiter who had the kitchen prepare another one and it was also taken off of the check. Overall, it just wasn't a good experience. I felt like the service was subpar for how vacant it was and obviously the plastic in the food didn't help.

Yelp
I'm sad to give the bar at BHH&B 2 stars. It's getting 2 instead of 1 because of old times sake. We're locals and have always had great experiences at the restaurant and the bar...until last night. We dropped by the very uncrowded bar (on a Sat night) to have a drink on the way home. The bartender ignored us. The bar itself had water splashed on it so we couldn't put anything on the counter without soaking it. The bartender said, "I'll get to it" when I asked for a towel to wipe it. (He was talking to 2 attractive women.) When he finally came, I asked if they served Irish coffee. He replied, "The espresso machine is down." Hmm...what does that have to do with Irish coffee? He walked away and never came back. We finally left and went to another, much better bar. Sad for BHH&B.

Yelp
I'd be willing to go back to try the famous brunch and much-raved-about French toast, but the dinner experience here was definitely underwhelming. The clientele was sort of snooty and over-dressed for a place whose floor looks like bathroom tiles and I think some of that pretentious snobbery carried over into the overall experience. Our waiter was very cute, attentive and friendly--no complaints--but the host left a lot to be desired, making us wait some 8-odd minutes while he did invisible busywork before finally seating us. The Roasted Beet Salad with Thyme, Farmer's Cheese, and Shallot Vinaigrette was kind of forgettable and a little bland, even for salad. The Herb Rolled Pappardelle with Braised Chicken, Wild and Exotic Mushrooms, Spring Peas and Ricotta was not as rich as I was expecting (a good thing) but also not salty enough. I am not one of those people who cracks the salt shaker over everything I eat but this dish really needed some sodium. The chicken was well-cooked though, and the mushrooms and snow peas added a delightful crunch. For drinks, I had the Beacon Hill something--it's a fruity, sweet drink that was tasty but came in way too small a glass with too much ice for $12. With so many other romantic options for dinner on Charles St, I'd definitely suggest skipping BHHB and heading to, say, Lala Rokh or Toscano or Bin 26 Enoteca instead.

Yelp
A pretty nice restaurant, under a boutique hotel. The Duck liver was wonderful, not as good as foie gras, but had the special arrangement. The soup/sauce for Mussels was light, which I do like. Shrimp for the main course was fresh. The only problem was the AC. I was there during the summer, and their AC didn't work. It RUINED the experience. I rated based on food and service.

Yelp
This review is just for the bar. It's a small bar but staffed by a great guy, Joseph. Had enchanting seasonal drinks topped with a stencil of a holiday motif. Joseph told us he makes the stencils himself. A nice, warm stop on a cold night.

Yelp
Still just as yummy, 5 years later. Good on you, bhb! The banana bread was outstanding. I've never had fluffy banana bread before. The vanilla pancakes were very good. My bff liked her frittata, but thought there was a bit too much onion. What a nice place to chill and have some yummy food. If I were living in Boston, this would be a staple place for me.

Yelp
The other weekend I went to Beacon Hill Bistro for brunch. A friend recommended it so I thought I would give it a shot. Once we got seated and looked at the menu the couple next to us told us "do not order the salmon and crème fresh omelet." The woman took the inside out of the omelet and it looked disgusting. The waitress didn't even ask why she didn't eat her meal. However, the customer did say something and the meal was removed from the bill. I'm sure that couple will not be returning! Now onto our meal, we both ordered the mushroom omelet served with potatoes and sourdough bread. The mushrooms were rubbery and poorly seasoned. I truly think the eggs were from a carton and not real fresh eggs. We barely ate our meal and to no surprise the waitress did not ask if anything was wrong. This restaurant has very poor service in the food industry. If I had to say something positive about this meal, I would say that the potatoes and bread were decent. I enjoy a good brunch on a Saturday morning but this restaurant did not meet my standards. I use open table for reservations and was disappointed to see that they don't have availability after 9:30AM on the weekends. I would rate this restaurant a 2 out of 5 stars.

Yelp
Disappointed!!! Went there last night on Christmas Eve- ordered steak frites - meat had no flavor - had to ask for steak sauce - they gave us Worcester sauce & then butter ? To put on the meat ? Appetizers were ok -- would not recommend them - maybe lunch

Yelp
I love the location of Beacon Hill - right on Charles St. which is a very cute street in Boston. I went here this past Monday for brunch with my bf and his sis. We were excited that we were able to take advantage of Boston's Restaurant week. We immediately got served coffee and water. Service was great. We all decided to do the REST week menu. I had the Caesar salad which was nice it came with little mandarin's which were very tasty. For lunch I had the mushroom risotto. I have to say my boyfriend makes better risotto at home. It was good but nothing special and the mushrooms were minimal. I ordered the coffee pudding bread and had a bite (it was ok) I'm not huge on sweets so I shared it. BF and sis had the carrot cake topped with pineapple for desert which they did not approve of. It's not very hard to miss on carrot cake but apparently you can easily do that when you put pineapples on top.

Yelp
The place seems really swanky and the crowd is on the older side, but I haven't found the place to be too stuffy. My friends and I were roaming around Beacon Hill trying to grab a bite to eat at 9ish on a Friday night... A bit tough considering that many places were already closing or not seating parties....and we had no reservations anywhere. We were able to sit down at Beacon Hill Bistro, and we enjoyed a lovely meal. Given how good the food is, It's very reasonably priced and relatively easy to get a table on a Friday night.
