"Options for East Asian food in Big Bear are about as common as waterfalls in the Sahara, which makes it all the more convenient that Bear Noodle Bar serves solid noodle soups right off the Village's main drag. The ramen here is decent, but our favorite is the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, stocked with big chunks of five-spice braised beef. Beyond soup, the popcorn chicken and not-that-spicy Sichuan wontons are worth it, too. The cafeteria-style dining room is great for quick meals: all ordering is done via a giant touchscreen and there's a long window counter perfect for slurping down a bowl in peace." - sylvio martins, garrett snyder, brant cox

"Bear Noodle Bar opened in late 2022 and it’s the only place in Big Bear serving shoyu or miso ramen alongside Taiwanese noodles with beef, bone broth, and crisp vegetables. The menu and room are unfussy with crispy popcorn chicken, spicy wontons, and garlic butter shrimp for appetizers." - Eater Staff

5/5 Stars - Flavorful Comfort Food! Bear Noodle Bar is an absolute must-try! My partner and I ordered the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup and the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup with Crispy Popcorn Chicken, and both dishes were phenomenal. The soups were incredibly rich in flavor—perfect for warming up on a cold day. The standout for us was the popcorn chicken. It’s hands down some of the best I’ve ever had! The breading was perfectly seasoned and crispy, making it impossible to put down. Every bite was delicious, and the portions were generous enough that we had plenty to take home and enjoy later. We’re already looking forward to coming back for more. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving flavorful, comforting food!

I honestly didn't expect much from this place. However everything we tried there was so good. All the chicken items were flavorful and moist. My son couldn't have enough of the popcorn chicken. The chicken teriyaki included some pickled veggies that help add to the flavor compared to plain chicken teriyaki. The Whiskey ramen offers a unique delicious taste. The chasu is thick and plentifully. Some was a little tough but overall the chasu was better than average. I can't wait to go back to try more items there.

Stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon after a long hike. Ordered dine-in Taiwanese beef noodle soup and garlic butter shrimp from the kiosk. Got confirmation of order on my phone, and it was ready in about 10mins. Soup was a bit salty for my taste buds, and shrimp lacked some seasoning. Has plenty of seating. There weren’t many people there, so it was nice and peaceful meal time. A Quick grab-a-bite and go.

Located in the village. We stopped by for an early dinner and was empty inside. I ordered a whiskey shoyu ramen with crispy tofu. Spouse had the miso ramen with grilled chicken since pork belly was sold out. We ate inside, however it felt a bit stuffy and had lots of flies around. I enjoyed the crispy tofu as was made fresh. Ramen had a lot of noodles and toppings were good, however felt the broth for both were okay.

I recently visited this restaurant for the first time and ordered the popcorn chicken, which was truly delicious. The staff appeared friendly initially. However, my experience quickly deteriorated when I attempted to use the chili oil at the sauce station. As I poured the oil, the entire lid came off, resulting in oil spilling all over my clothes. Despite my best efforts, the stains were impossible to remove, and I had no choice but to purchase a new hoodie from a nearby souvenir shop to continue my day. When I reported this incident to the staff, they informed me that this was the fourth time it had occurred, yet no corrective measures had been taken by the restaurant, nor was any compensation offered. If this had been an isolated incident, I might have been more understanding, but four occurrences clearly indicate a failure to address a recurring issue. This was not merely an unfortunate accident but a sign of ongoing negligence. The entire experience was deeply unsatisfactory. I left the restaurant feeling uncomfortable and displeased, as the oil smell lingered for the rest of the day.

My family and I love this type of food, but quite honestly this place in big bear is way overrated prices are ridiculous for the ramen soup not quality! Spicy wontons was decent! I would not recommend this place but if you don't know any better you might like it..

Google
They already have short hours considering their prime real estate. Considering there isn’t any ramen places on the mountain we made an effort to make it there before closing only to find out that they close their kitchen down 30 minutes before their actual closing time. Never got to try their food, but the ambiance is that of a cafeteria. We definitely won’t be trying to go there in the future.

Rachel Toor

Google
Got both the whiskey and miso ramen. Both were overly salty and lacked depth of flavor. Noodles were a bit chewy and wish they had a better drink selection. Pretty disappointed for the price. But the girls running the restaurant were very nice and took good care of us. Dinning space was clean and family friendly

Yelp
Ambiance: very casual, not waiter service - you pick up your food when your number is called. Very clean and and the staff is friendly! Food: I had the popcorn chicken. It came with two sauces that weee great bud the chicken was so good on its own did not need it. I also had miso ramen. The broth was fantastic. I love how you can pick which meat you want in it, so many places you have to have pork. I just wish they had extra toppings you can add to it for an extra fee! My boyfriend had the whiskey ramen. Wasn't as crazy about the broth flavor.

Yelp
It's 35° right now with a storm coming and it's the perfect ramen weather! The miso ramen with pork was so rich and belly warming that I was ready for a nap right after lol. We also tried the butter garlic shrimp, tokoyaki, spicy wonton, and popcorn chicken with a side of rice and they were all tasty! The portions were very generous! Free water station next to the counter too! Someone was also walking around asking if anyone needed anything else and offering to wipe tables down. Very attentive. You order at the counter or the automated kiosk. It was very busy when we came in but we still got our food within 15 minutes. There were 3 long tables that seats 6, a couple high tables, and counter seating around. We were able to fit 6 adults and 3 toddlers at our table as there were 2 available toddler high chairs and an extra chair we got from the corner. Centrally located in the heart of the village. Parking can be a little tricky sometimes but we got lucky on the street behind the restaurant and just walked around.

Yelp
If I could give Bear Noodle Bar zero stars, I would. I recently ordered the creamy vegetarian ramen, and it led to one of the worst food poisoning experiences I've ever had. Everyone in my group who ate the same dish got severely sick with vomiting and diarrhea, and I ended up in the hospital. On top of that, we saw the same person cooking and cleaning without washing their hands in between tasks, which was incredibly concerning. I would not recommend this place to anyone until their food safety practices are seriously improved.

Angelica E.

Yelp
If you like shrimp for sure get the garlic shrimp. Got a few things cause everything looked good. Also very hospitable. Have two little ones and the turned on the little mermaid for them

Vee M.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this but unfortunately it was not great. Service was slow with only 1 person working. He wasn't friendly and took long to get orders out even tho it wasn't busy. The ramon soup was super salty. I think it was the broth that was salty. I tried just to eat the ramon. I read another review that also said it was salty. II can put up with bad, slow service if the food is good. But this was not. Maybe they can work on less salt.

Jane W.

Yelp
Parking in this area can get pretty tricky during the busy season, but it's never been much of a hassle if you don't drive though the village. The ambiance is relaxed. There's a kiosk where you can place an order or go to the counter and place it with a person. The kiosk was pretty easy, the display was large and self explanatory. The food was great. The spicy wontons weren't as spicy as I usually get, but they were delicious! Loads of garlic and vinegar flavor. The ramen was good and my husband liked his rice plate. The portions are pretty generous, my husband though his bowl could have been bigger...but he's a giant. The prices aren't too bad considering their location and quality of the food. The staff was super friendly and they kept the place tidy by picking up dishes frequently. I'm so happy there is a good ramen spot on the mountain for when I need something warm and filling.

Lauren T.

Yelp
The food isn't that bad for Big Bear, but the soup was so salty and this place is pricey. The popcorn chicken is missing some spices (could've used basil) -- it tasted like chicken nuggets. The portions were great though and they were generous with topp

Emmie H.

Yelp
I was surprised to find a place like this in Big Bear. Came with some friends for an afternoon snack and had the popcorn chicken and the spicy wontons. Service was a little slow for the amount of people in the restaurant but everything was made hot and fresh. The spicy wontons are some of the best I've had (comparing to others like Din Tai Fung and Northern Cafe). The popcorn chicken had a unique umami flavor and was moist. I'd absolutely recommended coming here! We got a ton of food (see photo) for only $25

Genevieve H.

Yelp
Stopped in for a midday snack or spicy wontons and popcorn chicken. Very reasonably priced and so delicious! Everything came out fresh and piping hot.

Kiki K.

Yelp
Came here with a large group of friends after our big bear trip! Was surprised to find an asian noodle shop in the area!! I got the beef noodle soup and the popcorn chicken. The soup of the beef noodle soup was pretty good and had lot of flavors. The noodles itself were alright but the beef was super tender! The consensus from my friends was the beef noodle soup was the best out of the different noodles that they got. The popcorn chicken was a bit dry and tough to eat. The service was really good and the staff were friendly. We were a big group but they were able to quickly take all our orders and bring out the food in a fast timely manner. Although it is a self seating type of place and you bus your own tables, the staffed made sure to come out and check in to see of we needed anything! Overall, for the big bear area, it's a decent option if you want asian food.

Grace T.

Yelp
We're in Big Bear for the holidays and craving for Ramen. All can say it was delicious and perfect for cold days. Place was super busy but luckily found a place to sit and enjoy the Ramen. A bit pricey but what can you expect Wacken you're in "the village." Highly recommend!!!

Ryan B.

Yelp
This was a pretty pleasant surprise. The food was hot and pretty solid. We definitely liked everything and would go again especially on a nice cold day. It was quite busy close to closing time but we didn't wait long which was nice! The inside was a little plain and it was a little pricier than expected, but still a solid experience. Would love to see some more dipping sauces for the popcorn chicken Karaage.

Anhvy T.

Yelp
Was in the Big Bear area and stumbled upon this noodle shop. The tonkatsu ramen was not anything special but the hot broth cured my taste buds from the cold. Portion was very big as well, service was relatively fast. It is cafeteria style.

Ryoung K.

Yelp
We were in big bear and found this place amongst other restaurants within close vicinity from each other. We ordered the whiskey shoyu ramen and the Taiwanese beef noodle soup. The whiskey shoyu ramen was a bit saltier than our liking. There was a decent amount of food that was served. The shoyu was decent as well. The Taiwanese beef noodle soup had a little bit of kick to the soup, which was to my liking. This dish was also a bit saltier than our liking. The beef wasn't as tender and was a bit more over cooked than what I would have liked. The service is decent, there's ample seating inside. There was some throwback music in the background, which was nice. We went on a Friday during lunch time and it was a bit difficult to find parking nearby.

Wayne T.

Yelp
I have been out to Big Bear multiple times, however, I never really eat out here as much. My family and I wanted to try ramen out here because it was cold. The menu items really made us want to eat here and it was packed. Thankfully, we were able to get a seat once the party before us left. The server was nice to help clean our table and I think the servers are good workers. My only issue with this place is that the ramen isn't as good as I expected. However, I can't expect them to make their ramen traditional Japanese style. It wasn't as bad, and I think there are a lot of other choices to choose from. For a small restaurant, they do a pretty good job keeping the place clean.

Gordon D.

Yelp
The fried chicken karaage was a nice appetizer. Other establishments have some sort of dipping sauce but this one was lightly seasoned with paprika. The miso ramen ($18.50) didn't really satisfy me. The noodles were overcooked, past al dente. The egg wasn't soft boiled even though it was marinated, and the chashu was still on the chewier side. The service was pretty fast since you sit your self down after using the self ordering kiosk. It was pretty packed when I arrived around 4pm. If you're looking for some hot soup, you'll at least have this place.

Svetlana S.

Yelp
No. No. No. What I was served was not ramen. Both the noodles and the broth tasted very much like the stuff from instant packages - artificial and overly sweet. When they offered pork as protein, they did not mention it was pork belly. When it was served in warm (rather than hot) broth, it neither looked appetizing nor did it taste good. I think it was the first time I left most of my ramen in the bowl. My 5 year old ate the noodles, but it was wasted 20 bucks (yes, also very overpriced). Too bad. Note to self to stick to old and proven american classics while at the lake.

Kimberley K.

Yelp
Bear Noodle Bar in Big Bear, California is a unique and family-friendly eatery that specializes in authentic Asian cuisine. This restaurant has a comfortable, casual and FUN atmosphere and features an extensive menu of delicious dishes. This restaurant is well-known for its wide selection of noodle dishes, including ramen, udon, and soba. The menu also offers a variety of appetizers, salads, soups, and entrees. They are specialized in soup that include ramen and Taiwanese beef noodle as well as rice and dan dan noodles. Some people even call this "Kaarage" I was particularly pleased with the Kale Noodle soup

Claire T.

Yelp
Excellent ramen. The hours are limited (12 pm to 6pm) but it was late August. The whiskey ramen was excellent and the shrimp appetizer was excellent.

Samantha R.

Yelp
I'm not usually one to leave bad reviews but I was very unhappy with the quality of the food here. I love ramen but the ramen here was not tasteful at all. It was quite pricey which made the experience much more disappointing. My partner and I don't like to waste food so we tried to eat it anyway but we simply could not. The food may have been bad but I will say they had good customer service.

Victoria G.

Yelp
The popcorn chicken rice bowl was incredible! Also the service was fast. The workers were really friendly and very welcoming. My friend and I were sitting in the restaurant for a while after finishing our food and they let us hang out and even brought us some sample popcorn shrimp. Great place, would definitely recommend!

Les D.

Yelp
Taiwanese influenced noodle joint with great flavors. Very simple menu. Takoyaki is a fun appetizer. Not my favorite, but certainly interesting to try. The noodle and rice dishes are quality, especially the beef and pork belly bowls. These were the favorites. The big miss is the popcorn chicken option. Popcorn chicken should be bite-sized pieces, but pieces served were more like tenders. More concerning is how dry they are. Not good at all in a rice bowl. No issues with the grilled chicken, which was very good. Steer clear of the popcorn chicken, and you'll get a great meal.

Anh H.

Yelp
The texture of the noodles was good, my soup broth was really salty, l had to pour water to diluted it. Meat was dried, and service was not the best. My partner told me the only thing he likes about his miso tofu noodle is the fried tofu. The door said open at noon, we waited until 12:15, the lady finally opened the door and she seemed to be mad at us or maybe just mad in general. I feel so sorry that we had disturbed her morning/noon work, l don't know. We ordered and paid from the kiosk so we did not interacted with anyone. I don't want to be mean or anything by give this place bad review, just hope she, l am assuming that she is the owner, treat customers better by at least saying sorry we open late or hi how are you. The store was nice looking, but the floor seems to need a mop or sweeping, little debris was still on the floor.

Greg J.

Yelp
Wow. This place is super busy and it never stops. Place is bomb. Worth the wait. I would definitely recommend this place and I will definitely be back

MiSs D.

Yelp
I was so torn leaving a 2 star review. We walked in at 5:15 Friday evening- there was only 1 person dining at the moment. The lady working was already getting ready to put all things on the prep line away. We ordered through kiosk and she made our food quickly and efficient. We ordered the garlic shrimp, miso ramen and the whiskey shoyu. I'm not gonna lie the food to us was great. It hit the spot. I was so happy I was able to take a portion home for leftovers. But my expectations fell flat while I was eating my leftovers cause as I was finishing up my broth I felt something not right in my throat- I coughed and coughed until I had a piece of metal fall out of my mouth. I couldn't believe it cause my son and I shared this soup. Thank goodness it happened to me and not him. :/ after reading the reviews- apparently I'm not the only one This has happened to.

Harmony W.

Yelp
I've dined here twice this week, and it's safe to declare this restaurant as my latest culinary fixation. My go-to dish is the Miso Ramen with crispy tofu. During my initial visit, the tofu was a tad oily, yet still delightful, while the broth surpassed all expectations. On the second visit, the tofu was less greasy, although the broth didn't quite match the first encounter in terms of impact. Nonetheless, both experiences were outstanding, and I'm already planning my return. I'm docking one star from my rating due to consistently sticky dining surfaces, suggesting a need for more frequent cleaning. Understandably, the staff appears exceptionally busy, but a bit more attention to cleanliness would elevate the overall experience. Despite this, I'm thrilled to have such a gem on the mountain!

Roman K.

Yelp
Casual sit down place that can get busy on weekends. Limited parking on weekends. We tried the miso ramen with grilled chicken as well as the Taiwanese been noodle soup and both had tons of flavor. Miso chicken is grill cooked so if you like it cooked a different method specify. The Taiwanese had more spicy to it and the miso was more creamy in comparison. The beef in the Taiwanese was super soft and savory.

Jurgen O.

Yelp
I would give this place 3.5 stars. The Ramen was pretty good (Miso ramen with popcorn chicken) but the teriyaki chicken plate my buddy ate wasn't the best (it wasn't bad but nothing memorable). How ever the service was questionable. The girl working there seemed like she did not want to be there. The restaurant was dead but the bus trays were full of dirty dishes. This place definitely has potential.

Minna C.

Yelp
Everything was delightful here! We ordered the miso ramen, whiskey ramen, and a rice bowl. We were a little lost coming in but found our way to the kiosk to order. We brought our pup inside and it was okay. An added bonus was the great music and Disney movies playing!

Manish D.

Yelp
Got their Taiwanese noodles... great flavor and depth. Miso ramen was excellent as well with the broth being creamy. Neither one were overly salty which was great. Spice was not just heat but a lingering flavor that stays with you in a good way. Very surprising find in Big Bear. It's perfect food to eat when it's cold outside.

Michael N.

Yelp
Wasn't expecting to find such a well crafted bowl of ramen in Big Bear. The flavors were on point, portion was excellent n Im no meager eater, both the chef and his son are incredibly pleasant peeps, and I will definitely be returning. It's obvious they take great pride and care into crafting such a delicious bowl of Ramen.

Jose M.

Yelp
The food is very bland, the miso and teriyaki bowl don't have much flavor. Chashu, and the chicken are very tuff. The restaurant is very clean and organized. The staff is very kind and welcoming. Would've been a 3 star place for me but unfortunately as my daughter was taking a bite of food. A piece of metal , which the cashier said it is from their dish scrub. Got caught into her teeth!!! Not okay what's so ever. The cashier was very understanding. Hopefully management changes their cleaning supplies to something else..

Esmeralda L.

Yelp
Overpriced for ramen soup that taste like it was watered down. Even with the added chile. We were a party of three and none of us enjoyed our soups. Service is okay. Confusing when you first walk in. You Have to order on a screen. I usually give a restaurant 3 chances in total if I don't enjoy it the first time. I'm not saying I will never return, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Mylesha D.

Yelp
Getting there: The restaurant is easy to find. From the town center head southeast on Big Bear Blvd. Follow directions to the village and the restaurant will be on your left hand side. Parking is scarce here so try to find street parking on one of the nearby streets. Experience: My taste buds are still buzzing from my trip to Bear Noodle Bar in Big Bear! I had the garlic butter shrimp that was out of this world and a miso ramen bowl that was delish. If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine, you gotta check this place out. The atmosphere is chill and the decor is modern and funky. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, too. I felt right at home in this cozy spot. Can't wait to go back and try more of their menu!

Quang T.

Yelp
Probably the best ramen spot you can get amid American restaurants in Big Bear. The broth was creamy enough to me, eventhough the chasiu pork was a bit salty, I was still satisfied!

A V.

Yelp
Overrated ... I was so excited after a long day of skiing. Nothing to write home about ... but at least the people seem nice. They even forgot to put the egg with my ramen bowl. So check before you leave if picking up!

Kristen R.

Yelp
This was super yummy and really hit the spot after skiing. We all had miso ramen and it was delicious and filling.

Isabel Q.

Yelp
Came here to have a late lunch after snow tubing and must say was not disappointed ! Food was really good. Staff was friendly and service was fast!! I think only downfall of this place is that it is quite small & ordering is through a screen. But this will be one of our "go-to" spots when in Big Bear for sure!

Julia D.

Yelp
The area is clean and the music was fun. The door is awkward to get through for a wheelchair user but not impossible. The food was fresh and delicious. We got the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup, a Whisky Shoyu, and Takoyaki. Everything was well balanced, hearty, and filling. Also the tractor drinks are light and refreshing but I wish there was ice available for the drinks.

Peter C.

Yelp
Good place to come if you are craving something hot and soupy. The restaurant has 3 large tables and 2 high chair tables and 2 bar type stool sections for dinning in. They have a self order kiosk and a place to bust your dishes after you are done with the meal. We ordered the ramen with popcorn chicken miso soup which was well done had corn and nice base soup with the star popcorn chicken. Ramen whiskey with pork belly was ok, meat wasn't as soft or flavorful, Taiwanese beef noodle was good, wife didn't complain as much this time and wasn't sweet like all of their other dishes. The worst was the popcorn chicken rice dish. It felt like they didn't mix well, the rice was hard and not tasty and the popcorn chicken with the teriyaki sauce didn't work. Also, I was sure why I tipped at the kiosk as I self ordered, cleaned my table, picked up my food and bust my table.. I'll chalk it up to a brain fart. The place is ok, average noodle place.

Jesus H.

Yelp
Service was good, they were busy. Unfortunately the pork ramen was lukewarm at best; the ramen seem rushed and watered down. The pork was tender but at this temperature it was very disappointing. I'll try it again after new years hopefully it's only this mediocre due to how busy it was.

Brian N.

Yelp
Had the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup and Spicy Wontons. Well, a lot of the beef in the soup was really fatty, chewy with a lot of gristle. The pieces that weren't all gristle were actually tender and good. The vegetables in the soup were the star. They were perfectly cooked. The broth was good, but nothing spectacular. The spicy wontons were fire! I love those things. The sauce they put on them is absolutely delicious. This was a to go order and I appreciated how everything was packaged. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is good, right in the heart of the village and the food prep is quick, so you can get in and out quick. The chewy beef was a real downer. I am hoping it was a one time thing. I will give them another shot and see. I gotta go get those spicy wontons again!

William C.

Yelp
perfect hot noodle spot for the slopes! it was busy and a little crowded but food still came out quickly. the place is kind of small and can be hard to find seating so with bigger groups it might be hard.

Abel L.

Yelp
This place has delicious ramen. They really put emphasis on flavor. It's a nice spot right in the village that you can people watch if you want.

Kim K.

Yelp
Food is definitely 5 stars. Hours definitely one star. Met in the middle at 3. Closing at 6 during the week is the worst for someone that lives here full time because I just want dinner at a normal hour... even on Fridays. I would frequent it way more if they were open more reasonably. Bummed out. But again food is excellent.

Karlie L.

Yelp
Went here on a random trip to big bear and wasn't too impressed. The set up inside is super unorganized and limited seating. I got the tofu miso ramen and it was good but nothing crazy and two others in my group got the pork ramen and became sick shortly after eating.

Ellyse L.

Yelp
Fast, friendly and very good! It was crowded when we walked in but everyone clears out fast. The shrimp appetizer was fresh, delicious and they were huge. Chicken and rice bowl was a hit for the kid. Them having Elemental on for our hangry daughter really helped us out too.

Joseph P.

Yelp
food was good! popcorn chicken is FIRE, Taiwanese beef noodle soup is probably a 7/10 as far as Taiwanese beef noodle soups I've had, but still delicious! Christian was so kind to us too she is the reason why I'm giving a five star we appreciate you Christian!
