"Beard Papa’s, a Japanese chain known for its custard-filled cream puffs, is planning to open a second location in DFW at Plano. The chain is also plotting a new outpost in Frisco with signage already up. Known for its light and fluffy cream puffs in flavors like matcha and honey butter, the chain operates over 500 outposts globally, including two new locations in Houston." - Amy McCarthy

My favorite cream puffs! I love the coffee puff with Vietnamese coffee filling ($4.20 including tax), but you can mix and match from their many puff and filling options. They fill the cream puffs to order, so the puff is always fresh and crispy. The cafe area is cute with a few counter /bar stool seats. Service is friendly, and since there's usually only 1 person working, you'll need to a wait a sec for them to fill your puffs to order. But it's so worth it and always so delicious!

Google
Best cream puffs, hands down!! They have the right crunch and bite on the pastry. The cream filling is perfection. It's not too sweet, it has the perfect amount of flavor. They are a bite of heaven! The Ube puff was wonderful!

What a disaster! The Zenless Zone Zero x Beard Papa's collab was supposed to launch today (6/8), but the manager apparently forgot to order the ZZZ items. Tons of people had been lining up since 10:00 am under the sun. When the store finally opened at 11:00, the line wasn’t moving at all. I had to walk past the whole line just to ask the only employee what was going on. Turns out, there was only one staff member working, and the manager wasn’t answering any calls or texts. From what we were told, it looks like the ZZZ items won’t even arrive until next month.

I really want to like this place but every experience has been a nightmare. I pick up a lot of orders and this place is always understaffed and the communication is lacking. I just watched a guy sit here for 10 minutes, after ordering, to be told they don't even have the item he ordered and that he'd have to get something else. As I sit and wait for an order all I can hear is the giggling of these 2 girls. I was told it would be 7 minutes about 18 minutes ago. No updates but they're sure having an interesting conversation in the back. I also see a full trash can and the floor is littered with pieces of food and it's empty, at noon on a Saturday. Zero reason to find that acceptable. I give the atmosphere 2 stars because it does smell good. But after seeing the roach the other guy posted? Nah, I'm good. I won't be eating here.

I have been to several BPs throughout the west coast and none have been as sparsely decorated as this one. I've seen some of the older pics and the countertop display case is gone. There was 1 worker there who said she was the owner. Looks like a going-out-of-business sale. I haven't tried them yet. I hope they taste good.

A long time ago in Osaka town, Where cherry blossoms drifted down, There stood a bakery, small and neat, That filled the air with scents so sweet. The baker inside had a jolly old face, With a fluffy white beard all over the place. They called him Beard Papa, kind and wise, With twinkling joy behind his eyes. He baked from dawn to starry night, Making treats that felt just right. And when the townsfolk came around, His goodies made their hearts feel sound. One day some children shouted with glee, "Dear Beard Papa, what will the next treat be?" He smiled and thought, “They’re counting on me!” And stroked his beard quite thoughtfully. Then — Aha! — an idea popped in his head, “As fluffy as my beard,” he said. “I’ll make cream puffs, light and sweet, With layers and filling—oh, what a treat!” He worked away with joy and pride, With choux inside and pie outside. He whipped up cream, smooth and light, With custard, soft and pure delight. The puffs were done, and oh, the cheer! The townsfolk clapped from far and near. They smiled, they laughed, they danced in line, For puffs that tasted so divine. And even now, both far and wide, Beard Papa’s puffs are filled with pride. Each bite brings magic, soft and true— A sprinkle of joy baked just for you!

Google
Beard Papa's pastries were delightful to share, the customer service had improved, and I was very happy to participate in the collaboration with Zenless Zone Zero. I wanted to revise my review and highlight a couple of things. For one, I was hesitant but pleasantly awestruck at the quality of the cream puffs. The pastries are genuinely good and best served cold, on top of feeling light yet filling! Highly recommended for people with a sweet tooth. Although, after visiting recently, my real highlight was the manager's initiative on making good and rectifying their initial mistakes. I also want to say thank the staff for providing positive service. I was ecstatic to be the collab and was very pleased to see how expeditiously it arrived for the people to enjoy.

Google
Terrible management. For the ZZZ event. I drove 45 minutes out to get to this location as it was the closest one to me, waited in line for 50 minutes to find out that the store did not have any merchandise or items ready for the collaboration. The Beard Papa main website even listed this location as a participating location for the collaboration event that starts today 6/8 nationwide. I find out from the ONE worker that is staffed today, that the manager says they thought the event was next month and that they did not have things ready today. Now I’m seeing reviews that the manager is replying to that they’ll promise to have the merchandise tomorrow? How is that even possible to get it in less than one business day delivered to the store. So did the manager just happen to forget, and is now rushing to try and get something done? Overall, such a bad experience for this collab event and the management of this location.

Yelp
Coconut cream puff with coffee filling This was so great! They have so many options to customize the cream puff and the filling. The puff itself is so fluffy and light, and the filling has great flavor and is super smooth. Cute little shop! Glad to have this chain in dallas!

Yelp
When you walk in, you will be hit with the most delicious smell ever...Originating from a small town in Osaka Japan in 1999, Beard Papa's sell the most delicious double layered puff-choux stuffed with light and not-too-sweet custard cream filling. There are a variety of flavors of shells and filling to choose from, and they are all good! (4/5) Ube Shell with Vietnamese Coffee Filling The shell itself is just so perfect- crunchy, buttery, yet flaky. I couldn't taste the ube in the icing but the coffee filling was delicious. Light, creamy, with not too sweet flavor of light coffee

Sruthi K.

Yelp
The pastry wasn't as soft as I expected - it was more flaky and a bit crunchy. But the filling inside was light and sweet, which balanced it out nicely. I tried the s'mores pastry with chocolate filling and the ube pastry with vanilla filling. Both were tasty, and it was fun trying something new. Overall, I enjoyed it!

Yelp
I've been to several BPs around the west coast but never seen one this sparsely decorated. I've seen some of the old pics and the countertop display case was missing. Looks like a going-out-of-business sale. I bought the mixed 6-pack. The plane with vanilla filling was good. The puff was crispy and the cream was fluffy and light. I hope they stay open.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Cute little shop with tasty dessert! They have a lot of flavors of shell and fillings that you can customize. Shells have a nice crunch but still soft and filled with a generous amount of light, smooth, flavorful cream. We got Oreo with vanilla filling, original, and matcha with matcha filling. My favorite was the matcha. Came on a weekday night and it was empty. Service was quick & friendly. This location is readily accessible. It's right off the highway in a strip mall with ample parking lot.

Yelp
Always love coming here for a sweet treat especially after stopping by Chongqing House for a spicy meal. The store is always cozy and clean. Service always very friendly, even though sometimes you need to wait a few minutes for them to fill your cream puffs. But it is definitely worth the wait. Love the combo of chocolate puff with matcha cream filling. Price is very reasonable. I look forward to trying their specialty flavors like ube next time I come back!

Sophia J.

Yelp
Stopped by here for Elite event and got one regular and one strawberry cream puff with matcha filling. These cream puffs are a nice choice of dessert, easy to eat and tasteful! The worker was very kind, while I was waiting for my turn, he made sure to let me know that he'll be right with me. The indoor is clean, spacious and has a little booth selling cute goodies!

Kawana B.

Yelp
Cute little place with a unique vibe. I tried a few different flavors. Tasty pillows packed with flavorful cream. I would totally recommend trying.

Shihintha S.

Yelp
Tried this place for a Yelp event and glad I was able to go! I honestly don't remember the last time I had a cream puff to compare but these were delicious! I really really liked the Ube cream puff with vanilla filling. It was light and not too sweet which I appreciated. They have a ton of flavor options so if you like really sweet then they have something for you as well!

Kelly S.

Yelp
Super cute cream puff shop. In love that they keep things simple and fresh. Super tasty cream puffs. Service is friendly and a tad slow but they have a help wanted sign. Hopefully they can get some help soon. If they were really busy it would get kind of rough. I wasnt mad at waiting a few minutes. It was totally fine.

Patty S.

Yelp
Staff was great both friendly and effecient. Did not have to wait long and cream puffs were delicious as always. The store was clean.

Hoa L.

Yelp
Came into the store on a Sunday evening and it was quiet. There is bar-top seating in a small area of about 4 seats but otherwise no other seating or restroom. Most people opted to grab and go. I picked the regular matcha cream puff but there are many options. It took about 5-10 minutes for one to be made. Some options were not available anymore like ice cream style. However, they did have others such as chocolate, vanilla, ube, and others. I think people who enjoy pies would like this and the cream puff filling is very much like a light pudding. It's a good size - about 5" and you can probably share with a frien

Madeline Y.

Yelp
I had never tried cream puffs before, so the excitement was real when I stepped into Beard Papa's. They boasted five fillings on rotation, offering a plethora of options for mixing toppings and fillings. Opting for a safe yet delicious choice, I went with vanilla filling paired with the Oreo cream puff. The price seemed fair for such a delightful dessert experience. Overall, it was a sweet introduction to the world of cream puffs at Beard Papa's! I'm sad that the Frisco location got closed but at least this isn't too far from me :D

Slava C.

Yelp
Limited selection however extremely delicious eclairs and filled doughnuts. Prompt and fast service with a smile and proper recommendations. Small, however, very comfortable on the inside. Getting, make an order and you are out on your way. Thank you.

Michelle I.

Yelp
Been to many beard papa's but first time to this location. Decided to get the mini cream puffs. The display was't filled up will all the flavors like other locations normally do. The cream puff has that nice crunch I'm familiar with but felt that they didn't put enough filling. Small location with no seating other than the bench, the rest is just standing table against the walls.

Paula C.

Yelp
I loooove this place. My favorite is the almond puff filled with Vietnamese coffee cream.

Kit R.

Yelp
Sometimes you find yourself craving a cream puff and wind up ordering more than you need because all the flavors sound delicious! I've tried a few of the delightful flavors from Beard Papa's and they're always so tasty! They have so many options and combos, you will definitely be able to find one you love. The only downside is the size and simply because I have yet to find a way to eat them without making a mess, lol. A great dessert option for any occasion!

Melinda S.

Yelp
This has been on my bucket list forever, and I had no idea what to expect. But since I'm a sucker for anything that says "fresh and natural," I had to try it. The guy waiting on me was so nice. He explained that you picked a pastry, and then you pick a filling. I picked chocolate, strawberry, and 2 Creme Brulee with a vanilla filling. $3.70 each. I ate one on the way home. Another one an hour later. Saved one for my husband. I plan to eat that last one after this review, lol. Out of this world delicious!! It's a light flaky pastry, with a simple frosting, and stuffed with a generous amount of fluffy custard like creamy filling. What's not to love about that? Yum! I found my new thrill ...

Bukie L.

Yelp
First time here, not coming back, ever. Ordered a simple matcha latte, with a puff pastry. But the lady didn't want to work on my order immediately because she had a large catering order of just puff pastries. Even then, made me wait 20 minutes, I ordered fries next door at ZeroDegrees, and they were made extremely fast, and I know fries take longer to cook than to package a pastry. So I ordered my fries first, but it took 15-20 minutes just to get a simple matcha drink. Terrible experience. Sorry Beard Papa, but they're not living your legacy the way you hoped for.

Shannah H.

Yelp
Everyone keeps talking about Beard Papa's, so I figured at some point I'd have to go to try it out. I ordered one of each of their main flavors so we could have the full experience. First, the shop opens much later than I expected. Cream puffs can be breakfast, I'd think, but they open closer to midday. Second, I'm not sure what the hype is with cream puffs. They are tasty, but not life changing. I think I prefer a little more substance when I'm eating pastry and a little less filling. Of the four fillings we tried, I really liked matcha the best. It was very different and went with the not-sweet pastry very well. We're glad we tried Beard Papa's, but probably won't be regular patrons because they aren't our style of treats. (Not their fault at all ...)

Christii L.

Yelp
Bread papa's cream puffs are exactly as I remembered from back in my high school years. It is a large Japanese cream puff chain, and have been wanting to stop by since it was opened in Plano area. It is light, airy, and fluffy. The only reason I have rated four out of five is because I ordered the matcha cream puff but ended with a vanilla one... I would recommend to immediately take a bite of your cream puff before exiting the store; otherwise, all's good!

Stacy G.

Yelp
Best things I've ever eaten in my life. The crème brûlée puff is to die for and the plain vanilla ones are even more delicious. Could not recommend this place more.

Phoenix L.

Yelp
Green tea and crispy almond shell yyds. Their green tea filling and I forget another filling was so good

Cherry O.

Yelp
Owners clearly don't care about business! Driven there 3 different times (15 miles each way) to find sign on door saying "out of cream" , "just missed us", " will open 2 days from now", despite google and their website saying they were supposed to be open. Spoke with owner who made excuse after excuse. Guess she doesn't want to sell cream puffs! Never trying again. Sitting in traffic for 15 mi to find store closed during business hours. Pathetic. It would be like McDonalds closing at noon saying out of fries. If you can't manage your supplies and sales and uphold store hours YOU created, then you should be OUT OF BUSINESS!!

Eri H.

Yelp
We have had beard papa before when visiting other states and were happy to find it here in Plano. The puff pastries are pre made but they will fill the filling as you order. Some of their selections were crossed off but still plenty to chose from. My kids wanted to try their strawberry and Oreo cookie puff pastry filled with vanilla cream. It's crunchy on the outside and filled with lots of delicious vanilla custard. It was a little messy as the kids were just munching it away and the filling came out. But it's that delicious. They had a special buy 5 and get one free. They also had a little table on the side where they sell handmade items such as bamboo straws and spoons, key chains a little stuffed animals. Pretty cute!! Conveniently located right off 75/ n central expressway in a small strip mall.

Kavaragu M.

Yelp
The rundown: Pretty all good! **** The food: the outside was a little bit crispier than I've had in california. But otherwise GREAT flavor. **** Service: Just enough pleasantry and helpfulness. Just like I like it. ***** Ambience: soooo cute and perfectly decorated but not overdone. *****

John C.

Yelp
A great place for a quick snack or treats for a group event. We got a box of half dozen, the level of customization was really helpful in letting us try all the different flavors! The cream puffs were pretty big and the filling was flavored well, I like that it wasn't too sweet! Overall would recommend!

Stacey F.

Yelp
Must try it! Tasty combinations. Try their recommendations and get a couple different flavors.

Jonathan S.

Yelp
Fun flavors and delicious cream puffs. Don't eat while driving, but enjoy with friends. If you must microwave one, make sure it's for not more than 10 seconds.

Manda C.

Yelp
We were in the area for an event and I decided to satisfy my curiosity by stopping in. This place is adorable and small with some furniture that's more cutesy than functional. That makes sense- how many people are going to stuff their face full of cream puffs in front of strangers anyway? I mean have some shame and devour that box hidden in a dark corner like the rest of us, emerging with pastry crust in your eye lashes and filling streaking through your hair! Just kidding, I got no shame when it comes to sweets. There were a few stools in one corner, but we took ours to go. I ordered an original with vanilla filling, a green tea and a honey & butter, both with a matcha filling. Then I asked my husband what he wanted. He got the Crispy Almond with vanilla filling. Frankly, I thought the menu with all the flavors was a little overwhelming. I also had to reconcile the fact that I spent over $13 on 4 cream puffs. However, the cream puffs are really large. They charge $3.20 for the original and $3.40 for other flavors. That's not too bad if you're wanting to try unusual flavors. This location has a rewards card where they sign off a stamp for every $5 spent, so basically for every 2 cream puffs you purchase. After 9 stamps, you get a free one! That's good because my dessert habit can get pricey. Though that can be more of a problem with fresh product that's more than $3 a pop, but also has to be consumed quickly or refrigerated. I don't think at this size they would very good refrigerated. There is something for everyone's flavor preference, but that may backfire. When there are too many combinations, and not necessarily all of them go together, it's definitely possible to get carried away and order 'wrong.' If you know what you like, no problem. If you're being adventurous, that's the potential price you pay. All the different shells have varying sizes and textures, but they were all crispy, to varying degrees. Honestly, the original was the best. It had a crunchy shell with the best texture, a flavorful and smooth filling and a familiar taste. Solid choice! I wasn't as impressed by the other shells, the varying shapes and sizes may make that crispy, crunchy shell softer or harder and won't necessarily be in that sweet spot. I didn't like that some of them, like the Green Tea shell, had a hardened cream on the outside. First, it was only on one side of the pastry and second, it threw off the texture contrast. Basically the other shells were just good, instead of magical. I did like the flavor of the matcha filling the best, but the vanilla filling was smoother, more traditional and better suited to that perfect bite. Though I intend to try both fillings with the original shell for a more accurate comparison next time, I'm currently leaning towards the vanilla. I also want to say that the ratio of filling was perfect, none were overfilled or messy. I noticed that was a complaint in some of the reviews, but we didn't have that issue. The staff was also friendly, helpful and very efficient. I can't speak for everyone there, but at least the staff on Sunday afternoons has it down to a science. The packaging is ridiculously cute and had me giggling all the way to the car! Was it worth the price? Maybe, maybe not, that answer will be based on your personal dessert line in the sand. I will say I'm glad I tried it at least once and may stop in occasionally. For me, the most impressive part of our visit, was how my husband responded to this concept. He is not big on sweets- at all! Anyone who is a lover of sweets, but has a partner who isn't, understands the complications and annoyances that can cause. I mean, it basically means that they won't (or rarely) partake in all your dessert adventures to justify your addiction by proxy! So you can imagine my shock when my husband loved his Crispy Almond with vanilla cream puff enough to mention it twice that day, again four days later and then again yesterday. Twilight zone! That in itself is a testament to how good this place is. I'm going to have to try the Crispy Almond next time too, just to figure out how they fixed him! Since this is the only Beard Papa's currently in the North Texas area, I say you got to give them a try at least once!

Madison P.

Yelp
So fresh and yummy! I love that you are able to choose how you want your cream puff, your choice of topping and then choice of filling! Also- these are baked and not fried so they are actually healthier than other dessert options which I thought was cool. There were so many yummy flavors to choose from in the case, but for my first time here I decided to try a strawberry topped cream puff with vanilla filling. It was so soft and fresh and light, it tasted amazing. The little interior of the shop is super cute too. I can't wait to come back and try more flavor combos!

Ai Vy N.

Yelp
Best cream puff I have had yet! This place smells like fresh pastry out of the oven when you first walk in. There's also a swing, and a few seats inside if you decide to stay and enjoy the sweet treat. Besides that, they're extremely quick at preparing the cream puffs and packing them. I'm a huge matcha fan so had to try the matcha shell and matcha filling. I was a bit disappointed that their matcha shell is not full matcha batter, but only cover with harden matcha cream (similar to cream on pocky sticks) 1/3 of the shell. The same case for the chocolate, strawberry shell. The matcha cream filling is so good tho. Very matcha-y, lightly sweet, fluffy and very creamy, not heavy at all. My favorites from here so far have to be the original shell, honey butter shell, and I'm sticking to matcha filling lol. Their pricing is a bit high, but given that their cream puffs are bigger than most. It's worth it, but I wouldn't make a habit of coming here more than 1-2 times a week lol. Maybe I'll come more often when they start having reward program, which I doubt would happen anytime soon.

Jenny H.

Yelp
EDIT: updating to actually give them 5 stars (oops!) Osaka's Beard Papa finally has a franchise in the DFW area! It gets 5 stars from me because 1) it is consistent with other locations and 2) it will be a go-to for tasty treats. Beautiful little space on the side of the 75 with Mango Mango and Zero Degrees nearby. The lines have calmed down now compared to when it first opened, so drop in for a tasty autumn afternoon treat! I've only tried the choux cream puffs (シュークリーム). As of last weekend, there were at least 21 possible combinations. \\ Shells (7): original, matcha, chocolate, strawberry, crème brûlée, honey and butter, dulce de leche \\ Filling (3): vanilla, matcha, chocolate The pastry is scrumptiously light and fluffy encased in a shell that easily gives way with a slight crunch. The cream is cold and smooth and pumped in to order. If you're (for whatever reason) not going to eat it on the same day (what), maybe store it in the fridge (or give it to me). You'll probably want to do some experimentation to find your favorites. Share with a friend (or me)! I found the matcha/strawberry coating to be a little tough, but the flavors were still yum. That said, I'll probably end up sticking with the original shell in the long term.

Joey D.

Yelp
By far the BEST cream puffs imaginable. I don't often think of cream puffs when I'm craving desserts but this place came up on my Yelp search and I figured I'd give it a shot. Absolutely amazing! As our first time there, my wife decided to just ordered a basic chocolate eclair with vanilla cream filling, but me being the adventurous one, I decided to order a strawberry eclair with Vietnamese coffee cream filling...it was so delicious! This has quickly become one of my new favorite dessert spots in the DFW area!

Sheng H.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of cream puff. I found out about this place because my friend and I visited Zero Degree. This place had a huge line for a Sunday night. It's a small little bakery, maybe a few high seats along the side. I knew I had to try it out since there was such a long line. I came on a Tuesday afternoon, and there was no lines. I put in my order and got it super quick. I ordered the strawberry, green tea and the original puffs. I paired the green tea with the green tea custard. Strawberry & original had the vanilla custard. It was really good. The puffs were fresh and the fillings had the right amount of sweetness. Although they are pretty huge, I seriously can eat a few of these in one setting, only thing is that I can't bring myself to spend that much money on cream puffs. I got 3 only and it was a little over $10. I would say it's a bit on the pricy side. It's worth a try.

Marianne C.

Yelp
I wouldn't have known about who and what Beard Papa is if it wasn't for Yelpers who are from California. They have talked about it day in and day out ever since they heard that it's coming to DFW. I stalked their FB page hardcore to get info first hand Soft opening finally came and O.M.G. There was a wait but I didn't mind it at all. The smell is just amazing. Heaven probably smell like this. Like freshly baked bread puffs. They have the bread puffs ready but they put the cream in to order. Some people ordered boxes and boxes of it and they may have been the reason for the wait. I waited about 20 minutes for my order. The cream puffs are just heavenly. Crunchy on the outside but soft and heavenly in the inside while there creamy filling is just right sweetness. Will definitely come back for more when they have all the flavors they offer available.

Gloria C.

Yelp
I've been a fan of this place since I went to SF for the first time ever, so that's almost 8 years. When I saw this sign right next to Zero Degrees, I was just beside myself. I was present during the soft opening on a dreary, rainy day but there was still a line. I ordered 6 which included: 1 regular with vanilla crème 2 regular with green tea crème 1 chocolate with vanilla (FAV) 1 honey & butter with vanilla (2nd FAV) 1 green tea with green tea There were other flavors like crème brulee and strawberry that weren't available yet, but I'll be back to try those as well. It is sort of pricy for about $3.20 and up for each, but they're just so delectable and tasty. They do put a lot of cream so some of it might squirt out when you bite into it. It also was a bit too crispy for me, but I'm sure they're still working out the kinks. Either way, I've told all of my friends to go, so you just need to get yourself some.

Jorena L.

Yelp
I have been waiting years for Beard Papa's to make its way to the U.S.!! It's as good as I remember it. The shop was small with not much seating, but nicely decorated. The smell of the cream puffs was delightful. I had the Honey Butter cream puff with vanilla filling. I loved the sweet crunch of the caramelized shell and the filling was smooth and custard-y. Yes it's a little pricey, but the cream puff is actually pretty big. The oreo shell was tempting. I heard their fondants are also really good, so I will have to try them next time I visit!

Stella C.

Yelp
Authentically good! Why do I say that, I lived in Japan and the way it's made there and the the quality, taste and freshness is impeccablely the same, hence authentic. They make it always fresh. Crustly and crispy on the outside, creamy fresh and not so sweet on the inside. This taste and treat is my Japan connection lol! LOVE this place.

Ashlee C.

Yelp
Delicious crème puffs whenever I'm in Plano I slide fr fr cuz they are big and creamy and the peoples are legit as well

Yen P.

Yelp
MMMMMM! When you first walk in, the place smells heavenly so you know it's good. Beard Papa's is a small bakery specializing in cream puffs, but there are many options to choose from! You get to customize your own eclair(s), choosing a flavor for your shell and filling. The shells add a nice crunch to the pastry. The eclairs are crispy on the outside and airy inside-- baked to perfection. Cream is super silky and rich. I got the original and the green tea shells, both with vanilla filling; they were super delicious! Excited to come back again and try out the different flavors! Highly recommend!

Lucy M.

Yelp
Finally tried Beard Papa's last week after hearing about it from multiple friends. I was on my way to a small dinner engagement and ended up picking up four puffs to split with the people I was eating with. My selections were: original shell with vanilla cream, honey butter shell with vanilla cream, green tea shell with green tea cream, and strawberry shell with chocolate cream. My favorite by far was the honey butter/vanilla pairing. I tend to enjoy matcha things, but something about the cream puff flavoring felt chalky, and the shell itself was also too sweet because of the hard icing on top. The honey butter shell had the right sweetness level and balanced well with the vanilla cream. All the ingredients were fresh and service was quick when I ordered to go. Next time I come back I'll definitely grab another honey butter puff with vanilla cream, and maybe try the creme brûlée puff!

Yelp
I first fell in love with Beard Papa's in Boston, and I was absolutely elated to find that there was a location in Plano. As an experience junkie who tries to avoid going to the same place more than once (or at least never orders the same thing on the menu twice), I have repeatedly returned to Beard Papa's and always order the exact same thing: a chocolate cream puff with green tea filling. It's just absolutely perfect, particularly the green tea filling. It's a very potent matcha flavor (just the right sweet:bitter ratio - I find a lot of mediocre matcha flavoring is simply too sweet). Paired with the rich chocolate shell, it's the perfect light, airy, yet satisfying dessert! The only reason I give the place 4 stars is because I don't particularly love any other combination of cream puff and filling. The chocolate filling tastes kind of artificial, and the green tea shell simply doesn't do it for me. I have not felt a strong urge to try any of the plain/vanilla flavors. But I would recommend you to try a couple to see for yourself before you settle on your perfect combination!

Yelp
Not exactly what you want as a treat. I wouldn't pay $3 bucks for them. I hope this helps you decide.

Yelp
If you love cream puffs then this place is for you. I arrived at 11:10, the store is supposed to be open by 11. I was walking in when the owner just turned on his lights. It smells heavenly inside. I wanted to order 2 of every flavor. But the owner said that it will take about 30 min for the crispy almond to bake. Also would take the honey butter some time to bake too. Well I was like 30 min isn't too bad. What he didn't tell me was that it's 30 min to bake from the time he went into the back to make it so it can be baked. Sadly, My family was sitting in the car and didn't want to wait so long so I had to cancel the crispy almonds. Once he brought all the flavors up, I had a total of 27 puffs that needed to be filled. They had several flavors but the owner didn't ask me what I wanted. He just filed it all up with vanilla. They weren't bad, but I was hoping to try other flavors like lemon or the coffee one. The honey butter and the matcha puffs were my favorite. The puffs were nice and crispy and very light. They are huge too. Maybe next time, I will not order so much since he didn't have any out in display, so I thought they were small. The only reason why they lost a star from me was he filed it all w vanilla and didn't give me a choice for any other flavors. Plus by the time I let there, I've waited almost an hour. And the crispy almond still wan not done baking. Yikes. My family was pretty upset. So maybe it's best to call ahead and then pick up. It did take a while. Place was cute and smells really good. Only one guy working and wife was in the back. Maybe if he has more help, it wouldn't have been an hour wait.

Yelp
Visiting Dallas and was looking for something new and different on Yelp. And it was not disappointing. Its a small nicely decorated clean place. It wasn't crowded. The girls at the cashier was very sweet and helpful. The cream puffs were big, bigger than expected. We got 2 cream puffs, Strawberry top with cookies n cream filling and the creme brûlée (pre made) And omg! They were not what I expected. We were blown away by the taste, the creaminess, the freshness. The cream puff were soft with the right amount of crunch, filling was cold and it was simply amazing. Best treat for the sweet tooth! The price is reasonable for the taste and size of the dessert. Going there again for sure before I head back home. I am the happiest person, I found this same place in Orange County, California!!!!

Yelp
I haven't been to the actual store, but I've tried enuff puffs to know that they're amazing. The outside is flakey and airy in all the right places and there's So much cream filling in each one! The best part is that it's not overwhelmingly sweet. I hear they're pricey though, so the trip and the goods would cost quite a bit, but if a Beard Papas opens in Mansfield, I'll definitely be in to stuff my face with puffs!

Yelp
thank you thank you for coming to DFW!!! I dont have to fly to California for Beard papas anymore! :) Some people love their matcha but I just love their original vanilla with plain no frosting shell. I dont like the frosting because it harden the shell. the vanilla cream, I can eat that on anything!!! its so good!!!

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place! The concept was great and the shop was cute. The actual puff pastry was nothing extraordinary...no big deal. The cream though made me very disappointed. I ordered 6 puffs with variety of flavors of cream filling. But the filling texture was very runny, like melted ice cream instead of an eggy custard. My experience was average.
