The food is fantastic. People great. I do not understand why they can't get a second cash register and have two lines, one for pick ups and one placing in house orders. Would make things so smooth. I call in always. Sometimes like today though I waited close to 20 minutes just to pick my order up because most of the people ahead of me were placing orders. Just my suggestion.

I absolutely LOVE the food! Its always on point! The staff are amazingly kind & helpful! Every chance i get stop by for the best po-boys in the area!

Service was fast & efficient .Friendly staff. Clean tables & seating area. Food was awesome, fresh ,tasty. Sandwiches were packed with meat, fresh French Bread(Po-Boy) the Roast Beef was tender, tasty, gravy was great. Best I've had in years, closes at 3pm, so check it out. Very crowded but line to order goes fast and efficient by decent & dedicated staff. Table area quickly cleaned up after patrons who didnt pick up after themselves. Restroom was clean ,Hot water and paper towels, soap provided. Just off busy Hwy 21-N Collins, crowded parking at peak times. Suggest go after 2pm, a line but goes quick. Try the Roast beef po-boy...The Ferdie(ham & roast beef combo) Amazing!

No gravy why suppose to be full of gravy. That old Chevron buy the land easy parking . Lot has same entrance used for exiting . I like where there is bar stools and table mounted on the wall for single or 2 folks wish they had that. When ordering had two repeat my order from what drinks , poboy and order fries small order . It was noon stop talking to the 5 yr old boy behind the counter w u . It's a lunch time.

Love their food!!! I felt the great relief feeling after first bite. Most restaurants changed their food over the years but Bears food quality is still the same. BBQ shrimp is my favorite but too bad I’m too far located to go there often. I wish they often on Saturday like they used to. #1 Poboy in Louisiana!

Bears poboys are always the best. I can never complain about their food or their workers. Only thing I hope they do is move to a bigger location to get more setting and more parking because they are always busy and I know it will still be jammed pack even with a bigger area. Amazing food.

I’ve been coming to bears with my gramps since I was little. The staff is always super friendly. The food is top notch. We always get a roast beef po boy and some root beer. Prices are affordable and the food is great. Other options aside from roast beef is chicken shrimp ham and more. The place is super clean. The only downside is the parking since it is a pretty popular spot parking can be a haste but I would highly recommend to anyone that likes a good po boy sandwich.

Hands down the best poyboy in St Tammany parish. In top 5 in the state of Louisiana. I try to eat there at least 2 times a month

Went here last weekend and it did not disappoint. We got two of the roast beef's. One was a bun and one was a po-boy. They were toasted which was nice. Now I got a half and I think somebody got a 1 or 2 inches of my half, so it was a little small for me. But would not go back because of that,,,,no I am just going to order a whole because that is what I should have done from the beginning. This a good solid roast beef,,,,,,, beware it is messy. I wished I could give you a photo but it disappeared that quick.

I came across this place through word of mouth. I was just visiting and one of my family friend recommended this place for Po Boys and it did not disappoint! I recommend getting the Ferdie and Fried Shrimp poboys. The ferdie really blew my mind, there was a lot of meat and the flavor was just on point! I would say this is one of the best local spots in Mandeville for Po Boys!

A co-worker took me here for lunch, and I had low expectations since I'm not really a fan of po' boys. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The establishment is unassuming, but the po' boys are phenomenal. I've been a fan ever since, and now I use this place as the gold standard for rating po' boys.

Shrimp poboy is loaded with shrimp. The food is basic but good when you want something better than Subway or Quiznos.

Are you kidding a review of bears there's nothing I could say other than the best Poboy you can ever imagine. Roast beef number one shrimp number two you can even get a combination of the two you can't go wrong no matter what you order it bears, and now they have a second location in Mandeville.

I have loved Bear's since the early 90s and will probably continue to love it until the day I die. I started going to Bear's with my dad when he worked just down the street at Habitat for Humanity. I use to hate going to the office with him (because there is only so much playing in the ReStore a 7 year old can do) but I would always go in hopes that we would go to Bear's for lunch. Back then I'd get a Roast Beef Poboy on a bun and an Abita Root Beer. That thing was sooo juicy it would fall apart in my tiny hands unless I ate it like I was spooning water into my mouth from a stream. Now, 30 years later, I don't live near Bear's but anytime I am within an hours driving distance I make the trip to get a Roast Beef Poboy and my Abita Root beer (Now that I am an adult and can eat the whole thing, I no longer get it on the bun). Year after year the quality continues to satisfy and impressive. In 30 years I have never had anything less than a perfect experience at Bear's. And if they stay open, I'll be making the trek across state lines to get my poboy for the next 30 years.

I'm from Midwest and I would move to Louisiana just so I could eat Bears whenever I wanted . Very affordable. One sandwich is enough for me and my husband to share. The roast beef is my favorite fully dressed. The fried shrimp is also amazing. And so is the Ham. I haven't had anything here I didn't like. This place is very busy, so calling ahead will save you some time.

Awesome roast beef Poboy. Four of us tried different sandwiches and loved them all. This is the store in Metairie. Service was great. We didn't have issues parking, but I could see it being an issue during busy times as there is limited street parking so you would have to park under the overpass.

I love to support smaller restaurants that are not chains. So it was a no brained to go to Bear's Restaurant when we were in Covington, LA, last weekend. And it did NOT disappoint. Y'all, those were the largest Po Boys I'd ever seen. And they were stuffed full of meat and shrimp. As much as I loved them, I could have been stuffed just ordering a half.

Hands down best shrimp poboy on the northshore maybe the greater Nola area. They have been family owned and operated for years and I have never heard of anyone complain! Word of advice unless your spending $25 or more bring cash minimal credit card total is $20-25. Get you one for later you will want another

Bear's has some great food, or so I hear - I've only had the Surf and Turf poboy...a fried shrimp sandwich, dressed and dripping with roast beef debris. Out of the dozen or so visits, the sandwich has ALWAYS been fantastic. The shrimp are big and crispy, the debris is bristling with flavor, and the bread stands up to it all from plate to mouth gloriously. You read that right, a dozen sandwiches. I'd eat two right now, too, dare me. It's a little slice of the NOLA I grew up in; the folks are friendly and fun, and the food is excellent - don't miss a treat like Bear's when you're in town.

Pretty darn good. Ordered the Surf and Turf poboy - impressed with the fried shrimp (nothing special but done well) but even more so the roast beef portion (probably the best roast beef I've had) With that being said, really enjoyed it for the first half sandwich then it started to weigh me down a bit. I definitely did not need a large sandwich, but if you can split it with someone definitely more economical. Definitely come check it out if you're in the area. If you can't wait around, try calling in. Took a few tries but didn't take more than a few minutes to call in.

Best Poboys in the area. The family is friendly and work hard to please the masses at lunch. Roast beef is tender, thinly sliced and juicy!! The family also makes the best platings for sale! Best roast beef anywhere!!! The French bread is delicious and the beef is stacked on thick. The gravy makes this po-boy messy in the best way possible!! Definitely recommend.

They have great food. I dislike how the hours of operation cause absolute chaos on one of the busiest streets in the city - but it is what it is. I totally understand why people love the food!

Best poboys on the Northshore! Plus tasty fries and giant chocolate chunk cookies. The dining area is simple diner style, and there's always a line, so call ahead and get it to go for a picnic under any nearby live oak.

Good poboy. Used to be slightly better quality, certainly much cheaper, and the staff seemed friendlier in the past, but definitely worth it.

Bear's is an institution. We recently moved back to the Northshore from Denver and we've been checking out new spots and old favorites. Bear's was high on the favorite list and we were certainly hopeful the flavors were unchanged. Good news: they are exactly as wonderful as they always were! I admit, we only ordered one type of poboy: roast beef. Three of them! The meat is sliced thin, plentiful and full of flavor. Mayo amount may be too much for some, but all three of us LOVED the amount of all the fixins, mayo included. Canned Barq's for the win. We'll be back for fried shrinp, Ferdie, and bbq beef!

Went in for lunch (only open for lunch tues-fri) & got half of a shrimp poboy (mayo only), a side of fries, and a homemade praline. For a half poboy, the portion is large! Mine had a TON of fried shrimp. Absolutely delicious!!!!! Next time we will skip the fries (they are average) and just get the poboy and a praline. Best praline i've ever had! Bear's is a WIN.

Bears is by far an excellent pony, wait was kinda long but worth it!

BEST cheeseburger. They use roast beef debris with their ground beef and it 100% makes a huge difference of flavor from any of the other spots around.

We had the Shrimp and the Beef Po-Boys. They were both delicious. Shrimps were falling out of the sandwich. Well served and tasty. Definitely recommend.

Whenever I travel I compare every sandwich to a Bear's Po boy. It never works out, but I have to follow my gut. Bears is still the best roast beef sandwich I've ever had in my very long life. If you're traveling through and reading this don't miss your chance to stop at Bear's. They are only open for lunch (10:30 AM till 3 PM I think) Tuesday through Saturday but if you have the chance you will not regret it. And if you're hanging out at Saint Tammany Hospital, like I am right now, right down the street, it's only a mile away, please don't punish yourself by eating in the cafeteria when you can have a Bear's Po boy.

Best po boys in town and arguably the best including the entire Southshore. Food is always consistent. I actually prefer the inside being closed because my anxiety would go through the roof having to wait for a table and confronting people that would just come in and sit and completely ignore the people waiting to sit. I'm sure some were completely innocent, not knowing the procedure of getting a table. My favorite is the surf and turf.
