Where To Eat And Drink Around Harvard

"Don’t bother with the food at Beat Brew Hall - it’s overpriced, over-sauced bar stuff. But nevertheless, this is still one of the best places to hang out in Harvard Square, thanks to a big beer selection, huge communal tables, shufflepuck, and frequent live music. Bring a group on a cold winter night and pretend you’re at Oktoberfest instead of studying for a logic midterm." - dan secatore

The Best Restaurants In Harvard Square

"As long as there are no German teenagers throwing up in the bathroom, big beer halls with communal tables are always a good time. With strings of lights on the ceiling, shuffleboard tables, and enough room to stage a game of pickup dodgeball, Beat Brew Hall is your Harvard Square spot to come and make a ruckus with a big group of friends. The menu is mostly uninspiring bar food, but the cocktails and beer selection more than make up for it, as does the frequent live music." - dan secatore

Beat Brew Hall - Review - Cambridge - Boston - The Infatuation

"Beat Brew Hall is one of the largest spaces in Harvard Square, and we’re happy it’s filled with important stuff, like over 50 different kinds of beer and shuffle-puck tables, instead of more libraries and disease research laboratories. We like the fact that they have good flatbreads and live music." - Dan Secatore

Do not recommend for brunch. The menu is so-so and food was not great. Some if the portions are very small for the price you are paying. Service also was bad, took forever to get orders, drinks and the check. I’ve heard dinner is good here but did not enjoy brunch.

Excellent beer and a unique vibe. Beat Brew Hall reopened recently. The beer selection was not extensive but carefully chosen. There is a great vibe, with good music, dimmed lights, and a cool vintage-ish feel. Very big space and counter, ideal for larger groups. Prices are a bit on the higher side for a bar, especially for food.

The music was nice and the overall experience was good. Nice environment for a fun night. The food was fine as well the drinks. The waiter was very friendly and the service was quick.

Good food and vibes really enjoyed the menu! The waitstaff was great as well. UPDATE: second time around What’s a review if you’ve only had one experience? 🤔 I decided to come back to the beat brew hall for a meal and a football game as I enjoy the buffalo cauliflower here. Today I ordered the chicken verde tacos to go along with my appetizer. Let’s just say nothing is perfect and there must be a flaw somewhere. These tacos missed the mark by a mile. I am a HUGE taco fan and this just didn’t cut it. It looked good when they bought it out however the taco was so moist the corn shell fell apart. Had they used 2 shells like a traditional Mexican taco it may have held better. They got the burger order wrong that my friend ordered well done that came out medium. No big deal but we also asked for no Chile sauce due to IBS and it came back or cooked perfect but there was still Chile sauce on the burger🤦🏾‍♂️ It’s not how you fall it’s how you bounce back right? Well our server Sarah was very professional and hospitable. Comping the meal and offering a free appetizer. Job well done! Atmosphere gets a 💯 sever gets a 💯 food needs work but I’m sure the beer selection makes up for it! Gots to stop by and try them out!

Wait times: it wasn’t busy when we visited and we got seated immediately. We also ordered and were served very quickly Food: it was mediocre. I had the sirloin steak and it was fine, nothing special.

Great place with good food. Had a party of about 25 of us in there for brunch and they were pretty accommodating. We didn’t have enough seating for us all to be together, which was a little frustrating but I’ll keep it a 5 star because they were pretty good about taking care of our moving around, ordering lots of drinks, and food requests. For a reasonable size group it would be awesome.

Cute little basement restaurant and bar right in Harvard Square. Wandered in for a drink and an app. Excellent draft selection. They also happen to carry my favorite cider - bRose by Citizens Cider. It’s grossly overpriced at $12 for a 12 oz can which is what keeps this establishment from a full 5 stars. I guess they have to keep the lights on! Service was fantastic. I will probably be back. 😊

This place hosted one of the best gigs I've ever been to. They snagged a salsa band to play live, and they ended up going something like 2 hours later than expected because there was so much energy in the crowd. The floor was good for dancing. The vibe was really awesome, a lot of dancing & smiles & laughs, and the drinks were great too. A bunch of friends & I got some food and the waitress was really nice & accommodating, too. All around a 10/10 experience. Definitely one of the best events I've ever gone to, hoping to go back to the place soon.
