Google
I absolutely love this place. it’s amazing for all your occasions: girls night out, date spot, happy hour, business over oysters. the staff are all fantastic, and the food & cocktails are nothing short of perfection

Betsy Ashauer

Google
Ranked third best new restaurant in Richmond, we decided to try. Oysters are one of their main features. There is a small menu to choose from (small plates and larger plates). We got oysters, which were delicious from Lynnhaven. I got the mussels for my entrée and my husband got the fish of the day, which was flounder. It was good but nothing to brag about. We would return except for the noise level and a super tight fit at the table which was cramped. My husband and I had a really hard time hearing each other over noise. Everyone in there was talking so loud and even our waitress couldn’t hear our order and we couldn’t hear her. If you have trouble hearing, claustrophobia, or want a quiet romantic dinner, I would not choose this restaurant.

Google
Dreamy holiday date done right! Don't sleep on December as the Beaucoup bar turns into the Noel. Magical and intimate, it becomes a perfect date spot or a festive hangout with dear friends. Cocktails were fun and tasty, the oysters were perfect, and our server couldn't have been nicer. And the train! Don't forget to check it all out!!

Google
Great experience and excellent food from start to finish! We had oysters, scallops and mussels w/ fries. Truly some of the best food in Richmond!

Google
Like to come here for the oyster happy hour. Great little place with good service and a nice atmosphere. Have loved all the different oysters that I've tried at this place, and none of them have disappointed. The staff is very friendly! They also have some pretty good wines

Google
Many oysters happy hours are mediocre at best but there's a reason Beaucoup has an early waitlist. I was lucky to snag a single seat at the bar and ordered a happy hour martini and a few oysters. Both were some of the best I've ever had. The martini was *crisp* and the oysters were so flavorful I had to order more. Service was 10/10. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Google
Incredible. Sat at the bar with some friends and complimented the line while they were working. They were busy but kept great conversation, manager was talking to guests, server was attentive and efficient. Bartender was pouring efficiently and focused the whole time. The oysters and drinks were excellent, as you could imagine. This is how a business is supposed to run. Kudos to everyone involved. Cheers from New York

Google
Outrageously delicious. This wasn't our first time here and we love their sister restaurant Grisette but still managed to be blown away. The dollar happy hour oysters might get you in the door but don't forget about all the other food, the menu changes regularly (as it should!) last night the risotto was spectacular and the Cesar salad made my husband proclaim it was the best salad he's ever had.

Yelp
In town on a work trip and I used Yelp to find a nice late-night drink and snack. Great cocktails and fresh oysters: Is there anything else one needs in life? Maybe some caviar? Oh wait, they have that too! Great music, great vibes, friendly and accommodating staff. This place feels like a dive bar in Europe and I'm all for it. Love this place.

Yelp
This was my first experience having raw oysters, and I loved it! We got to try the entire gamut of oyster varieties they had. We also had some bread and fries with garlic aioli. My favorite dish was probably the mussels a la cape cod though; I wanted to just drink the beer broth! The service was really great as well. I would totally come back.

Yelp
Beaucoup is always a lovely experience! I've been a few times, but this past week I had a reservation for a large 9 person party. I initially made the reservation for 6 but had to add a few leading up to the day, and they were patient and accommodating. We also hit a snag and some of our party had the wrong time and were 30 minutes late. The staff remained patient and communicated with us along the way to make sure we were okay on time so we could enjoy our meal and didn't rush us at all. Cocktails and food are always delicious, but I can't say enough good things about the service! Beaucoup will continue to be a Richmond staple for me and my friends!

Yelp
Had a fun happy hour at this fan hotspot. Very small but well laid out. HH oysters are a draw, of course, but the yummy looking items coming from the small kitchen (viewable to diners) made me know I'll come back. Superior service by Jonathan and the whole staff. A gem!

Yelp
We're so glad we stopped in! Beaucoup had awesome cocktails, great oysters, and fun mains in a really intimate space. We got one of the "reserve cocktails" and one of the ones at the top of the menu. The "welcome home" was a tropical but not overpowering slice of paradise, while the reserve cocktail "who's who" was a great blend of michters, cynar, and montenegro that tasted like a more nuanced boulevardier. Super tasty! We stopped in for a lighter dinner, and got a selection of the daily oysters (with hot sauce, mignonette, and a horseradish/cocktail sauce combo... loved the choices!), the kale Caesar, and split the burger. All was really great! The Caesar had a great nuttiness and the burger was well done. The fries were also super tasty and had great flavor: a can't miss! We did have room for dessert, and I'm glad we did! The apple cake was super flavorful and the apples in it were still super firm and had great texture. We're so glad we made it!

Yelp
Cannot recommend this spot enough for a fun date night! The oysters are incredible, and this is coming from someone who was extremely on the fence about coming and trying raw oysters. We started with one of each option and then ordered a second plate of our favorites. They came out quickly, but we never once felt rushed! My fiancé and I foolishly went here for dinner, which of course it was not quite filling enough seeing as we focused on the oysters. So, my one suggestion is to plan to visit Beaucoup as an appetizer sort of restaurant. For just myself and my fiancé, who shared 12 oysters, an order of fried oysters, bread, & a bottle of wine: our bill was roughly $140. Great spot!

Yelp
Every time I go to Beaucoup I get to try something new. They change up their drinks and food pretty frequently and I have not been disappointed yet. It's a small restaurant so on busy nights you'll likely need a reservation. They have a happy hour with $1 oysters from 4-5:30 on weekdays! It's a little pricey otherwise, but worth it in my opinion.

Yelp
Very personable and patient service. Eclectic menu - that I understand changes regularly. My choices were a big hit- oysters, steak tartare, mussels. Simply delicious. I wouldn't sleep on the Caesar salad either. Topped off with delicious bread and very fresh berry based dessert.

Yelp
Are you serious? This place is a GEM. Arrived at roughly 5:45pm on a Friday, just after HH concluded (darn). Although the restaurant is quaint and only offers ~30 seats, we were seated immediately. But, the place was popping! We ordered some cocktails to start. I tried the 'Back to Basics' which features blanco tequila, Aperol, lemon, passion fruit, and habanero. It's nicely balanced and not overly sweet (which I really appreciate) and it had a nice kick to it from the pepper. I really enjoyed it - so much so that I ordered a second. My husband enjoyed the 'Off the Wall,' which I also thought was good, but he opted for champs for his second round, so do with that what you will. We enjoyed two dozen oysters (we are oyster fanatics) and especially loved the Blue Points. The Minnie Pearls were also enjoyed. If you are interested in the gougeres, I would opt to order these with your raw oysters if you plan on enjoying both. Otherwise, it's basically just like little bread bites without any sauce. They were the only thing we had that I wasn't very impressed by and it really just made me want more oysters. We really enjoyed the Panisse with Calabrian Chili Aioli and I'm very glad we took a chance and tried them. They were different but tasted similar in flavor to sausage - a vegetarians DREAM. The frites were delicious too, and I actually ended up preferring to dip them in the aioli that came with the Panisse rather than the garlic aioli they came with. The star of the show (besides the raw oysters) was the Scallop Roll. I read many reviews before our visit that stated this dish was a must have and now I see why. It was DIVINE - perfectly chilled on the classic buttered roll that you would expect with a lobster roll and the salad was perfectly made with fresh chives. So fresh, slightly sweet, and absolutely delicious. Now I see what all the rave is about and I plan to continue to enjoy this dish each time I visit. Overall, our bill for everything was $185 after tax and before tip. We really enjoyed our dinner at Beaucoup and plan to add this lively seafood spot to our list of favorite date night spots in Richmond.

Yelp
I don't even like oysters, and I'm still enamored by Beaucoup. This intimate bar took over the Commercial Taphouse space and clearly put in the work to renovate and elevate the ambiance. They recently opened to much fanfare, for good reason. Right now they're not accepting reservations, but the wait wasn't terrible at all (roughly 50 minutes during primetime on a Saturday night). They take down your phone number so you can migrate elsewhere while you wait, and they call when you're next in line, so you have time to get back without losing your spot. The tables are extremely close, like so close that they have to be moved to let the person on the booth side in and out. If that's not your vibe, maybe skip or come at an off-peak time. They have bar seating as well, but they do not have seat backs, which I cannot tolerate in my old age with a creaky back. Service was great for the most part. At one point our server took my order and then left when my friend was ready to order too, but I think that was just opening weekend jitters and also it's fairly loud in there. It didn't take her long to come back either. I ordered one of their signature drinks to drink, the Off the Wall gin cocktail, to start. It was well done, very refreshing, and not overpoweringly boozy. For food, I ordered the Comte cheese, which came with the mini pickles whose name escapes me, some bread, and some tangy mustard. It was so good. A very mild cheese. My friend had an herbal cheese dip with chips that I didn't like quite as much. I also ordered the fries with garlic aioli. They tasted so familiar. I feel like they must be duck-fat fries even though the menu didn't specify. Either way, they were tasty. For my meal, I ordered the flounder filet, which came in a room-temperature soft-boiled egg sauce. In theory that sounds disgusting, in actuality, it was SO GOOD. Like the ideal complement to the perfectly cooked fish. I had a great first impression all in all. The only downfall was that partway through our meal, a couple sat next to us and the woman had bathed in perfume before going out. Please don't be that person. Anyway, I'm sure I'll be back!

Yelp
I love Beaucoup beaucoup!! Grisette's creations always brings a taste of European life to Richmond. I adore their wine patio at Jardin, their delicious food at Grisette, and now their divine seafood and cocktails at Beaucoup. I just visited on their grand opening night and had a blast. We were a group of three and decided to go family style. Here's what we got: Off the Wall: This gin cocktail is delicious! I don't like when my cocktails taste mostly like the liquor used in them, so this was a great pick for me. The ginger shined and it was pretty floral and light. I really liked it. Skeleton Key AND Back to the Basics: My friend got these because she's a mezcal and tequila girlie. She loved both of these. We both liked the spiciness in the back to the basics. Dirty Martini: My other friend loved this so much she got three. Yes they were that good. A dozen raw oysters: Wow I love oysters! And they have really good ones here. Tonight they had lynnhaven fancies, gigamotos, blue points, and shooting points. We all agreed that the gigamotos were the best. Scallop roll: You must get this! It's so refreshing and delicious. The scallops are cooked perfectly and are light and refreshing. The milk bread it comes on is a dream combo. The chips on the side are also yummy. Mussels marinière: I'm drooling thinking about the sauce. It came with unlimited bread. It was an incredible focaccia with toasted butter. The mussels were yummy too. Soooo good. Bluefin tuna crudo: The nuts and apples really elevated this dish. The other dishes we got were the main stars, but the crudo played a strong supporting role. Dessert: I'm blanking on the same of our dessert, but it was this incredible chocolate mousse pudding with peanuts and chocolate crumble. You have to check out Beaucoup. The service is incredible, we laughed nonstop with our waitress. My friends and I had a blast catching up over amazing food. Highly recommend trying this place.

Yelp
Food: Fresh creative and flavors are spot on. Service: Eli/Donnie and his entire bar / kitchen crew are professional and very hospitable. FOH manager is attentive and I always feel welcome. Ambiance: Comfortable, relaxed, clean, and good energy.

Yelp
Went for a solo date adventure. I sat at the bar and had great service. The bartender was attentive and super polite. I had two drinks while I was there - both very complex in terms of flavor. The wine menu really caught my eye but I'll save that for the next visit. Keep in mind, the menu changes! I ended up getting roasted oysters and corn ribs. Both were amazing. The oysters had shredded fried leeks which and butter. So good! Wouldn't back and get a whole dozen. The corn ribs were also super tasty. I have some leftover that I cannot wait to devour. I will for sure be back!

Yelp
Cozy neighborhood place with a great bon vibrant vibe right in the Fan. It's first come, first served, but if you need to wait for a table or a spot at the bar, they'll happily get you a cocktail or glass of wine while you wait. I think it's great that Beaucoup does not actually offer a lot, but their focus on what they offer shines through. The oyster board had 4 or 5 varieties - all local which I love (flying oysters across the continent is unnecessary, especially since they don't get to use the mileage points they earn before being eaten). We split a half dozen and loved them all. Frites were done very well and the garlic aioli tasted like the tiny kitchen made it just for our order. If the oysters were the stars, the mussels were a very good runner up. Plump and sweet, not a dud in the bowl. The broth was good enough to drink right from the bowl, but fortunately the griddled French bread saved me from embarrassing myself. The cocktail list is tight and the bartenders were great. Wine offerings by the glass lean sweet, but the bottle options will get you what you want at a fair price. Great happy hour deals ($1 oysters, $30 bottles of Muscadet). The scallop roll looked awesome, and I'll be sure to try that when I get back to Beaucoup.

Yelp
I have lived in Richmond for 5 years and can easily say this was one of my best dining experience to date. Loved the drinks, the mains, and OF COURSE the amazing oysters. I highly recommend everyone to book their reservation asap!!

Yelp
New favorite spot for special occasion drinks! It was so cute and lively inside! The staff was great and for an oyster bar, prices were reasonable! It still probably isn't a casual evening spot, but perfect for that in between of casual and formal! The fries are also absolutely to die for!! I had a gin dirty martini and I'd totally recommend! It has been added to my list of must go spots in richmond!

Yelp
If you like oysters/seafood and wine, then this is the spot for you. It's definitely delicious and interesting. It's the 3rd restaurant from the same owner of Grisette and Jardin and is a perfect French dive. Today (in my world) it's opening weekend and they were slammed. Most definitely because their stellar reputation precedes them. It's well earned as the food was fresh and phenomenal. I did wait about 45min for a couple of bar seats but it was expected. All seats were first come. Service was excellent. I don't remember his name but he was nice and helpful. Oyster prices are good. The fried oysters were my favorite and delicious. I loved the flavor combo of the roasted oysters and they were filling. Don't sleep on the gougeres as they are delicious little cheesy choux bites. The frites and aioli are perfect as always- never change!! And finally, the scallop roll. Where has this been all my life?!? I love it. It gives lobster rolls a run for the money. It's so fresh, so light, and the bread is perfect. Don't try to split one, just get your own. Also, pro-tip, save your sauce from the fried oyster for the chips that come with the scallop roll, they go perfectly together. Enjoy!! It was a fantastic meal.

Yelp
I've been here 3x and each time has not disappointed! No problem finding a table but we do always come at opening. It was notably very loud during our first visit but they've added sound barriers under the tables which helps tremendously with the noise! Management listens! Plenty of street parking close. We always get a dozen of the Happy Hour Oysters (1$), 2 of all the others and truffle fries. It's been fun to try all the different kinds. We love the fries- shoestring style with an addicting aioli. Their mixed drinks have all been good with great balance. Happy they are here! Hope they stay around awhile

Haley R.

Yelp
Truly an amazing experience every single time. The staff, the food, the drinks, whatever it is just know it will be incredible. The staff is always willing to tailor the experience perfectly to your wants and needs. With a seasonally changing menu there will always be something new that keeps you coming back.

Yelp
drinks and service was great but food was nasty. one appetizer looked like someone threw up on a plate. my stomach turned so bad it was hard to enjoy food but since I was on a date I didn't complain. they did take the app back and we ordered more food but I got sick from something I ate there and everytime I think of their food I feel nauseous. I'd suggest this place for drinks only.

Kylie O.

Yelp
Great spot for a girls night! We went during Noel and loved their cocktails! The oysters and apps were all amazing as well
google avatar

Bailey G.

Yelp
Their oysters were good, with a nice variety from different areas - VA, CA, etc. Their scotch egg was also very tasty. Great happy hour oyster prices, and the service was excellent despite it being busy. Our server was very friendly and prompt. The atmosphere was a bit uncomfortable. The tables are crammed together, so much so you can't even get between the tables to the booth side and it feels like you're dining with the people next to you. Both times I've been it's also incredibly loud and it's difficult to converse with the person across from you. There is also typically a wait. It took a couple of tries for us to get in without having to wait over an hour for a table for 2, even on a weekday.

Chad T.

Yelp
I loved Taphouse (the previous occupant) but dear god, this place is great. Very good wine list, excellent specials, fantastic fresh oysters (and really good fried ones!), and great food overall. I would love for them to expand their menu a little, but have no problem repeating dishes until they do. Its atmosphere is vibrant and, yes, a little loud later in the dinner service, given its classic Fan layout and high ceiling. The staff is chill, professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, and they do make a mean cocktail, but without any pretentious flair. The best time to get there is during their happy hour (4 to 5:30) for the easy vibe, open seating, and $1 oysters, as well as $6 20-oz draught Mahou, a crispy lager from Madrid, among other pleasures. I hope this place sticks around for a long time!

Yelp
Excellent drinks and very good oysters at a nice local setting in heart of Fan area. Very friendly people with good service and easy and diversified but simple menu. Strongly recommend
google avatar

Tatyana T.

Yelp
Happy hour was extremely limited, but service was amazing. Nice ambiance. Food was alright. No crackers for oysters which was odd. Martinis seemed a bit watered down. Nothing special except service.
google avatar

Steve R.

Yelp
Service was the very best part. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. Oysters were delicious but tables are way too close and crammed in. Noise level was obnoxious.
google avatar

Marc V.

Yelp
Everything about our experience at Beaucoup exceeded expectations and was simply wonderful. The cocktails and oyster shooters are a must. The oysters themselves were excellent. We also tried the caviar app and my fiancé hasn't stopped talking about it since our visit. Do yourself a favor and check this spot out!
google avatar

Morgan C.

Yelp
We loved it here! We had the fried oysters. I went home and immediately had to try and recreate the green goddess dressing they served with it. Cocktails are fun and boozy. Perfect for an hour before a dinner reservation!
google avatar

Robbie K.

Yelp
Great oysters, friendly and informative staff, good vibe. Stuck to beer but the cocktails looked great. We split the salmon salad and scallop roll for our main, both were delicious.

Chaz C.

Yelp
Overall one of our favorite places in RVA. Great oysters and drinks, and great vibes.

Ann H.

Yelp
Great drinks. Great seafood. Came in without a reservation (I don't recommend) and they squeezed us in. If you're hungry get 3-4 courses. Cozy atmosphere

Suzanne H.

Yelp
Great oysters and cocktails. Vast improvement with the interior, but noisy. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed the service and watching the shuckers doing their thing. Not inexpensive, but you pay for what you get.

James B.

Yelp
Ceviche was delicious! Cool vibe and very good staff!! Showed up as the kitchen had just closed but they accommodated me. Definitely will come back earlier to try some of the oysters (large selection) and something from the grill.

Liz B.

Yelp
We love Beaucoup! Interesting and delicious cocktails, super clean and well-shucked oysters. Ice cold and incredibly tasty. We've loved every one we've tried so far, at every price point. The staff is knowledgeable and so welcoming, friendly every time, no matter how busy.

Regina N.

Yelp
Excellent food and service!! I'll be going back again and again! Go early, seating is limited but well worth the trip!

Allyson L.

Yelp
Wonderful! Small menu but delicious food. The restaurant is small but very popular so there is often a line outside. Highly recommended all the oyster choices as well as the mussels. Service was great as well.

Justin C.

Yelp
Genuinely an amazing spot. Great food, great drinks and wonderful service. Our server was taylor and she was very sweet and knowledgeable. The bouillabaisse was delicious, and my god the rapini was good. The gougeres are absolutely some of the best I've had, perfectly balanced! This place is the real deal. The cocktails are also wonderful! Every drink we had was very balanced and easy to enjoy. What a delightful addition to Richmond! I must add the vibes are perfect here. Lively and buzzy. Exactly as you'd want. I truly love this place.

Becky M.

Yelp
Loved the vibe here. Small, cozy venue that has been open for about a month. Expect to wait & you'll be outside while you do so. Yummy eats - small plates (we love this), so not the place to go if your ravenous and want a belly full. We had a party of 4 and started out with roasted oysters and mussels and kept ordering- more oysters and some "not oysters" dishes. Fun cocktails, delightful Chablis by the glass -- when is the last time you've had Chablis?? and Spanish beer (Mahou) were our drinks. Super friendly staff and delicious food. Recommend; we'll go back for sure!

Sean F.

Yelp
Sentimental stroll brought us to the old Commercial Tap house. What a fresh little spot of Oyster divine. Different right away, the front is wide open so you can see the entire space. Tables are close, you will meet someone new. Bar seat was tight. C'est La vie! It was a noisy but happy vibe. Missed VA oysters on the raw board, but that changes. The James River roasted oysters on the half shell were petite, but sweet little bites. The mussels in the bowl were great, onions, shallots, garlic and a very delightful sauce. This sauce is already calling a return visit. Great value during happy hour! The warm crab dip was too salty--topped with seafood seasoning ratio was overpowering, texture too over mixed, notta lump to be found. The tortillas chips are fresh, made to order--saved it for me. From the NOT Oyster side of the menu, Bar Snacks plate was supper tasty. Enjoyed the drinks, price is high per splash. Service was great. Doing a lot with a restrained menu in a little space. This was a spontaneous happenstance. So glad we slid in. Reminded me a bit of a mini Hanks Oyster Bar in Alexandria. 2nd floor now a prep kitchen. Maybe they'll find a way to expand for an unexpected rooftop situation for a few more seats. First come-first serve.
