Beaupierre is a new wine and spirits shop from Heidi Turzyn and Yannick Benjamin, the creative team behind Contento. The location, on 10th Ave, holds special significance, and is decorated in a clean, classy, understated fashion. The store also happens to be highly accessible, an important feature which opens the doors to all (adults of legal drinking age).
I stopped by on opening day and got to see the place for myself. The elegant shelves were stocked with an expertly curated selection of wines, styles and locales I had never heard of. Yannick was there, welcoming guests and visitors, many of them people from the neighborhood. I said hello and congrats on the new store; he helped me and my girlfriend select a bottle of wine. We went for the Quincy, a dry white from the Loire Valley.
The consideration and effort that went into this store makes it feel like one is walking through a fine art gallery, and you can buy any piece to take home and drink. The selection of spirits up front seemed to be the kind one would use to make interesting cocktails. Throughout the store there are options for every price point and everything comes with a sense of refined elegance.
