"What It Is: Beauty & Essex is yet another random clubstaurant under the Tao Group’s global empire umbrella. It’s located in Hollywood in the same complex as Tao, but with a generic dining room and a menu full of very basic dishes we thought were only served on international flights.  Verdict: We’ve dined here several times (you’re welcome) and still don’t actually know what this place is or how it exists. Problematic as it may be, at least Tao next door made a choice in its pan-Asian branding, Beauty & Essex’s theme is…a hotel conference center? Top deck of a Royal Caribbean cruise? We truly don’t get it, and clearly, neither does anyone else—this place is half-full even on the weekends. There is a working jewelry shop up front, in the event you want to reward yourself for making it through a meal without falling asleep. " - brant cox

"Directly next door to Hollywood’s Beauty & Essex is a casual newcomer called the Chap. The British pub-inspired restaurant and bar opened in the Vinyl District on Saturday, November 19 with a lush patio garden dining area, European pints on tap, and classic British dishes. And in a more timely matter, the Chap can also be a dedicated place to watch the World Cup." - Mona Holmes

It’s located in Hollywood in the same complex as Tao, but with a generic dining room and menu full of very basic dishes we thought were only served on international flights. No element is overtly terrible, but it’s still surprising that a place run by one of the world’s largest nightlife groups can be so breathtakingly boring. "With the kind of decor that looks like a date night destination, Beauty and Essex has a modern American prix fixe with tuna poke wonton tacos, roasted chicken or Thai barbecue mushroom, or seared scallop. These are all dishes that would impress on a special occasion, and the stunning ambience is just icing on the cake." - Matthew Kang

I’ve heard nothing but great things about this spot and it lived up to the high expectations. The entry way with all the vintage/memorabilia items is a really nice touch. The Notorious BIG action figure is a great piece. I started with a dozen oysters, their classic thick cut fillet, broccolini, grilled cheese, smoked bacon & tomato soup dumplings, crispy prawns and their Burlesque show old fashion. The oysters tasted very fresh and the sauces with grated horseradish were great additions. The broccolini was delicious. The dumplings were really good and my favorite of the bunch. The crispy prawns were seasoned just right and delicious. I ended up eating the whole shrimp, shell and all. The thick cut fillet at medium rare was delicious. Cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. It was very tender and flavorful. The drink complimented the meal & it was an overall great dining experience. The customer service was excellent and I’d definitely come back here again. The ambience is very dark but welcoming. The decor is excellent and it a a very “instagramable” spot. Parking can be difficult and with limited street parking.

The level of execution of their dishes was top notch. Every item was exquisite and prepared perfectly. I've had a lot delicious meals in various countries, this was one of the tastiest. A bit pricey but your tastebuds will thank you. Also a cool Hollywood vibe, mixed crowd , great music selection. Must see experience

It's tucked in at a very trendy spot in Sunset/Hollywood area. Decor is really cool and fun. From entrance to inside the restaurant, look around and enjoy the decor and architecture. We were there for a special occasion and it's definitely an experience and an evening to remember. Food and service was great and would recommend to friends looking for an evening out.

I recently dined at Beauty and Essex in Los Angeles for my friends birthday and it was an absolutely stunning experience. From the moment I walked in, I was transported to a glamorous and chic world. The decor is simply stunning, with glittering chandeliers, plush velvet seating, and stylish accents everywhere you look. As for the food, it was simply amazing. The drinks were strong and enjoyable. The menu features a wide range of delicious dishes, from classic comfort food to more upscale options. Once we left, we definitely left full and satisfied. What we ate: Appetizers: Kale & Apple salad Grilled cheese & tomato soup dumplings Tuna poke wonton tacos Beauty & Essex Cheeseburger sliders Entree: Oven braised chicken meatballs Roasted salmon Sides: Mac & Cheese Togarashi Fries Desserts: Berries & cream Milk shake shots The service was also top-notch. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, and the rest of the staff were equally professional and helpful. Overall, I highly recommend Beauty and Essex to anyone looking for a truly special dining experience in Los Angeles. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a night out with friends, this restaurant is sure to impress.

First off, the drinks, food, and service are spectacular. Every bite of food is thoughtful, and exquisite. Service is on point without hovering. My only quibble is that the restaurant is very loud and boisterous. I wish the atmosphere was relaxing to better enjoy the experience. Even if they lowered the volume of the music, and perhaps chose music more conducive to fine dining, I would love this place a lot.

A friend and I came here for their NYE celebration. Let me just say, if you haven't been here, the place was confusing to find because our Uber driver dropped us off on the main street. The place was really cute and they had a nice little stairway going to their upstairs dining. Our reservations was at 10pm and we didn't get seated until 1030pm. So that was disappointing to wait that long when we had made reservations. I get it, it was a busy night, but wished they had thought it out based on reservation time. However, overall the pre-planned course menu was delicious. We loved everything about it. The steak was perfectly seasoned. The fish was delicious and cooked perfectly. Drinks itself was delicious. Definitely would come back to eat here and recommend to try.

Came for the drinks and wow they were worth it! Great chill spot at 6pm but it does get super busy! The drinks I had were super refreshing and delicious I will be back! It’s also super clean and they sanitize everything which is super amazing for a bar/restaurant. The spice was perfection!!!
