So happy to see this place back and better than ever. New ownership crushed it with the renovation — great cocktails, refreshed space, even the bathrooms are on point. The vibe is way better too. The Mission is lucky to have this spot back. Cheers to Beauty!

the redesign kind of defeats the purpose of this place pre-pandemic. I will not be visiting. Every visit to the BB for me in the 00s was great. No violence, no theft, no aggressive people, just a lot of happy dancing people and electro music. Cheap drinks too.

I know the owner personally awesome awesome dude when the greatest people you'll ever meet friendly down to earth great great bartender as well. Did some electrical work. He was super friendly and very accommodating even got me and my boss for lunch, super cool !!!!

It's a bar in the Mission. With a cool new interior. And awesome music. And cocktails. And cool people. And the hot bartender won't give you that hard look when you show up with your other girlfriend.... until after she's thrown her drink at you and stormed out. Go here. Get some drinks. Live life.

It's always poppin, poppin bottles, Pussy poppin, Poppin then classic hip hop joints, this place the most ratchet bar in SF, but the bartenders and security are good.

Lol I don't know what else I need to say kidding aside, bartender was attentive and nice... but I went there early night so it wasn't busy yet as I went here for an after dinner drink. There was already a DJ tho so I can imagine how it is at a later time!

I had a great time, and the frozen margaritas are second to none!!! Haha, becarefull lol. Lots of sexy ladies around, and the music was diverse. The dj played pretty much every type of music except country, haha, but he was so good he could have played anything and made it work, haha bouncers are dope!! My friend lost her phone and luckily it was turned in!!! I will be going back !!

We had never been to the Mission District on our previous birthday trips, but I thought it would be a great place to explore. Yolie: It kinda reminds me of City Heights, and maybe a little like L.A. The neighborhood feels very organic and down to earth. There are signs of gentrification, but I hope it's for supporting the people who live and work there. The effects of our rose were wearing off, so I suggested we duck into the Beauty Bar for a drink. There were people in there watching football, and we grabbed some seats at the far corner. Yolie: You need to go into the bathroom. There's pictures of Ryan Gosling and of another handsome guy all over the walls. Both bathrooms were very interesting! Yes, I went into both. The bartender, Wendy, was great! We ordered two lemon drops, very good! Very low key and lazy afternoon vibe on that Sunday. We ordered another round and Wendy brought us some bar snacks. She also recommended we check out El Techo's roof top bar, and for dinner, to check out Lolinda. Later that night, we stopped back in to thank Wendy for those suggestions. We had just got out of the King Choosey concert at The Chapel. She was happy we enjoyed ourselves and introduced us to the owner, who bought us shots to end the night. A really fun place to come to!

Whoever rated this spot as classy clearly didn't see the world star hip hop video of a brawl outside. But damn what a great place to have a good damn time in your early 20s.

BATHROOMS DON'T HAVE LOCKS. MEN PUSH THEM OPEN. WOMEN, AVOID THIS BAR. My first ever yelp review because I'm this bothered. Tried to use the women's restroom but four girls were pushing against the door, so women were using the mens room. When I had gone in with my partner and we were using the restroom, a man clearly on drugs pushed the door open to let a different girl he didn't even know go to the bathroom. She was as confused as we were. He then got very aggressive and blocked us in the bathroom. When I finally pushed passed him, I went to the bouncers and they said I shouldn't have used the mens room in the first place. The woman bartender stayed with me until they finally kicked the man out, she was the only good part of the night. Apparently others had complained about him but they didn't do anything until I insisted. They gave my group free shots but that doesn't fix anything. Please take the negative reviews seriously. There have been similar complaints in the past and pickpockets are prevalent here! On top of it all, my friend had her wallet stolen.

Love this place! Bangin tracks, great drinks and usually cute girls to boot! I only wish the dance floor bigger! It's in my rotation if I'm gonna have a big night.

Live and let DIVE, this is a cool bar, I dug how we were here early in the night maybe like 8pm and they already had a DJ spinning some Suicide and cheap beers to buy! Now mind you Suicide might not be everyone's cup of tea but I found it cool that a dj was playing strange long songs that were not to family friendly! I got a round for some co-workers and it was under 15 bucks! So thats cool, I dug the layout, long bar, small dance floor, divey bathroom.. The place definitely has a vibe. The staff was nice enough and I dug all the old retro beauty supplies above the bar's mirror.. This place does not seem like a place you are about to have the greatest night of your life, but also not the worst night of your life.. So hey, order a PBR, get on a stool and hang out for one or 2 and move on!

I love beauty bar! It's a small space but it's a fun place to go dancing! They play hip hop which is a plus! I love going here for good music! They take cash and card but they give you a discount if you are paying in cash! I came on a Saturday night and it was packed! There is a $5 cover charge to get but it's not bad at all for a good time!

Don't bother. Sketchy bar, bouncers lame, expensive cover charge. Bartender ignored me and my 3 girl friends for quite a while, and when we were served, the glasses had marks on them. Really, go to Teeth or Blondie's for better service, better music, and more fun.

My partner and I came here during an impromptu visit to SF and we had such a great time. Only a $5 cover charge and drinks were great. Music was great and we had such an amazing time!

All the bad reviews and definitely for a reason. Went here to celebrate 5 college graduations and we were just looking for a fun place to dance. Music wasn't that great but did the job. On the way out I notice my wallet was missing, so no big deal, this stuff happens and I just wanted to ask the bartender to keep an eye out just in case. Apparently that was impossible for me after attempting to bring water out to my swaying friend, the security guard took an extra special liking to me and wouldn't let me near the entrance. It's not like he was there to keep people safe, but he actually just wanted my friends and me to have an awful night. I stayed there for an hour while the rest of my friends went in to ask for me, but wouldn't let me in just for a second. For no reason. In summary: Shit music. Shit staff. Shit place. DO NOT GO HERE. Literally never going back here again, I just hope Bissap gets back in business.

Had a good time here. Packed house and someone behind me got my attention to show me my phone on the floor. Not sure how it fell out of my closed purse but was very glad to be alerted to the fact I was about to lose it!

AVOID. You WILL get your shit stolen. I can't count the number of times I've either heard of or witnessed girls getting robbed here. I avoid this place adamantly after *years* of personally experiencing this crap firsthand but found myself there for a friends birthday last night.. sure enough, EIGHT phones and wallets were stolen out of zipped/protected purses. Dbags/total filth know to come to this place because neither the bouncers or management care or make any effort to mitigate the problem. They have actively allowed it to become their playground. It's beyond me that you can have a group of so many upset customers and KNOW a criminal is in your establishment (carrying thousands of dollars of stolen phones) and not call the police or offer to do so. Shame on this place for the culture it is perpetuating. It truly stands apart in its level of sketchiness.

Found this gem of a spot on a Monday after 9pm and it was still open! Bartender with the braids was pleasant, funny, and attentive. Music was what lured me inside. Was "you're my diamond girl". Then evolved to some old school rap. The mango Chamoy margarita was a blended fusion of flavors...hold the tajin pls. Would've prob stayed longer but there was some very young individuals that changed the pace with their music. Locals I assume playing from their phones. No Dj that night, which I assume maybe the wknd there is since there was a booth set up. All in all I admired the look and feel of the bars decor ( beauty shop in the 50's? Theme ) and disco ball light. The pay phone is cool however if it was an older rotary dial phone it would've match the theme better...a pink one at that lol

Came here last Saturday, cover was $5. Super packed, immediately as you stepped in you can feel the humidity you would feel if you were walking into hot yoga. The girl at the door told me, "zip your bag and keep an eye on it at all time." Dance floor was super small, music was not bad, they have a min $15 charge on the card. Probably would not come back.

I was having a conversation with some new friends the other day discussing the SF Beauty Bar that we were about to go to after dinner. Conversation shifted to the high likelihood of having a make out session with someone at Beauty Bar. Sifting through the cobwebs of some early 2008 memories, I recalled a few fantastic browned out adventures. All the evidence seemed to support the make out theory, so I explained to my new friends "...it happens" There aren't many certainties in life, but if Bizarre Love Triangle is playing at Beauty Bar. I'll be knocking people over to get to the dance floor.

Horrible experience. When I arrived, I asked the blonde bartender "Are there any other good bars in this area?" The bartender replied, "You're implying there may be better bars than this one?" I told her "Incorrect. I'm looking for good bars. I haven't spent enough time in this bar to even know that this one is good, but I'll take your word for it." She wouldn't have it. She said "I'm closing you out," as she poured me less than half of the shot of Hennessy I requested. I told her "No worries, because I have an American Express Platinum and I was planning on using it all night and tipping generously too. Zero tip - except better service." I went to John Colins and had a better time there.

GIRLS please do not come here! Listen to reviews I had my phone stolen from my purse as well as my friends in matter of minutes. AVOID and they dont answer the phone if you wanted to contact them.

This used to be my favorite spot until one night a man followed me into the bathroom, blocked the door so I couldn't leave and exposed himself. I screamed until he finally let me out. I was obviously freaked and borderline hysterical. Went and found the bouncer and I'm assuming manager to inform them of what happened. They both thought it was hilarious and wouldn't kick the dude out. I refused to drop the issue and they very condescendingly told me they'd keep an eye out for him, still laughing. This was a few years ago and I haven't been back. I'd give this place negative stars if I could.

Beauty bar is the main spot to go in San francsisco. Nothin but good vibes and good people and a big shout out to the security Dre at the door. He is always super cool and very welcoming.

HOT SPOT FOR PICK-POCKETING!!!! Went with a group of 4 girls and 3 out of the 4 of us had our phones stolen straight from out purses. As for the actual bar.. the music was good. That's pretty much it.

This is the kind of bar that has wet floors and vomit smell you'll want to spray your shoes with Lysol disinfectant after visiting. Also the kind of bar with a crowd and vibe that your spidey senses will tell you could turn dangerous on a dime. Tiny dance floor, the kind that's lit in a good way when people are vibing well, rachet in a bad way when a girl decides to fight another girl who she thought was hitting on her girl, skeezy when a pack of thirsty dudes descend on a drunk girl, and trashy when a girl thinks it's ok to push her girlfriend around like a rag doll. The DJ is good when he feels like spinning danceable hiphop tracks, otherwise he purposely plays lame shit to clear the dance floor and get people to buy drinks.

My debit card was skimmed here and I had a bunch of money taken out of my account. Bummer because it's a cute bar but after seeing all the reviews, the people who work here are definitely up to some shady shit.

I love a dive bar and this was a good one in terms of what matters in dive bars. The music was good, smart chill DJ enjoying herself while a small crowd of early evening drinkers kept to themselves in the dim. Drink and a shot was cheap and the bathroom was plastered with photos of James Franco. Just the ladies though, sorry gents. The company was excellent, the barkeep was quick and sane, the floors were sticky but the room smelled alright. This corner bar in the Mission is all right by me.

My fiancé and I were walking home and saw that Beauty Bar has their doors open. We saw a sign for frozen margaritas and decided it was time for a beverage. Eric was working and was an absolute pleasure. He was so nice and gave us a sense of normalcy during this crappy pandemic. Would highly recommend their frozen a margaritas because they are made with fresh fruit and was not terribly sweet. Thank you for taking care of us!

I used to love Beauty Bar because the DJ is always on point and honestly I don't think there are many places in SF that I can say that about. But in the past 3 months, 3 people (including myself fml) have had their purses pick-pocketed. Phones and wallets stolen. It's insane. I keep my small purse on my body at all times when I'm out at crowded bars, which is how I know this person is a pro. They were able to unclasp my purse and reach in and take my stuff out without me noticing. I'd only been at the bar for about 10 minutes when it happened. Insane. If you value your belongings, do not go to this bar.

Bloody. Marys. Ask for Laura. Seriously she brings her own pickled veggies and she has great taste in music.

Avoid. I hope the owner or management sees this. I came here a month ago with. Friend. We came to the front door, realized I had no cash when the bouncer asked for $5 fir a cover charge. I was about to walk to the bank when the bouncer said: "show me your tits and you can get in for free" WTF. I couldn't even believe it. What kind of people do these people hire. Avoid, anyone. F you guys, I love this place! It's a dive bar, with lots of random stuff on the wall. Plus, it's so glittery. It's like my dream. I love glitter. The decor is quirky. Big ups for a FREE cubby hole that you can use behind the bar! I didn't have to hold my jacket to boogie down! hoodyhoo! 90's music, yo. Good old school hip hop. I had to pay a cover, for a dive bar, which was lame, so minus 1 star. Also, some patrons are just...gross. Rude, whatever. Some guy was pretty much humping me to push me so he can get through the dance floor (it wasn't that crowded) so I shoved him and he was pushed forward. LOL. Who the heck does that? So...patron-wise, egh. Also, definitely some ratchets up in the place, but eh, we all get a little ratchet sometimes, right? I just think it's ridic that they charge cover for guys (and girls!) for this place. I mean, it's too tiny for it to be charging a cover.

I've been here a couple times and haven't had a good experience any time I have gone. It's always extremely crowded and people are pushing to get past you so intensely. The bathrooms have amazing wall paper but are not very clean, and there's only one stall per bathroom! So there is usually a long line to wait in. The bar tenders are pretty nice though, but there's so many people trying to get drinks so finding a spot at the bar can be challenging. As for the bouncers, I've been when they are nice and funny, but I have also been when they are super rude and aggressive. I went recently and one of the bouncers started yelling at me that I didn't pay, even though I did, and proceeded to hold onto my ID. He eventually gave it back but was very rude about it.

I was minding my own business staring at my phone in the middle of the dance floor and this guy kept on bumping into me. This is not the place to come and look at your phone in the middle of the dance floor. When you confront them, they're all like "WTF, get that shit out of here. Go stare at your phone somewhere else, don't stand right next to me and double park on the dance floor and then complain that I'm dancing." People have no respect for millennials these days.

Just went out for a few Coronas with two other people. I gave my card to the bar tender for a coke and she had asked for my card. She possibly misheard what I asked for but took my card. Twenty minutes later, I asked the bartender for my card back and my hands empty with no coke. She proceeded to argue with me for 10 minutes until her boss came by to give me my card back. Afterwards she wanted to keep me at the bar to say, "how dare you make look like that in front of my boss". I told her thank you five times and left the bar. Thanks beauty bar.

Looking through all these reviews, look no further. If you've had a few drinks and just need a place to let go Beauty Bar is your spot! I look for Isabella working when I walk by to see if she's working so we can have a fun convo. Although not spacey, the space you need is your own to feel the vibes with the music straight from your playlist that you wish you heard at other spots.

Terrible experience! On Friday night had my wallet and phone stolen from my zipped up purse that was on me. No help from staff.

Come to Beauty Bar if you want your stuff stolen. Had at least 8 different people tell me they got their phone/wallet swiped. The employees will just tell you to watch your stuff closer and not their responsibility. Can't help but feel that this place is an enabler for pick pockets. Again come here if you'd like to get your stuff stolen.

If you're looking for a sketch, trifflin' night, this is the place to visit. I walked past this bar an innumerous amount of times and never really had the interest to go in. This past weekend some friends and I decided to check it out. And it was quite the experience (not necessary good nor bad.) I'm a bit undecided as to how I feel about this place. I think it's one of those bars that can vary depending on the night and the crowd. Atmosphere: The bar itself is on the smaller side, it starts out with a narrow bar with standing space...then merges onto a small dancefloor. The dancefloor was really crowded, I didn't even want to try hanging out in that area. People seemed to be having fun though, I was fine with just hanging out in the standing area. The interior décor is really worn down, which made it seem more of a dive bar from the late 70s. It's got that SF vibe/culture going on. Music: This past Friday night wasn't bad. They started out with playing disco-esque music and we were like alright, let's get out of here. However, as we were finishing our drinks they started to play Hip Hop/Bay Music and the mood got better. I don't know if they have a set "music" theme, since this was my first time visiting. But the DJ that night was on point from playing Snoop Dog, to E-40, to Lil Sneak, to Too Short. That's the sh*t I do like. Crowd: The crowd was the most interesting of all. It really did represent San Francisco in a nutshell. It consisted of: ghetto folks, hipster folks, confused older folks, normal folks, weird folks. It was definitely a MIX of people. I've read in past reviews that many have gotten their wallets/phones stolen here, but if you keep an eye on your belongings you should be fine. It wasn't an awful experience and I can honestly say I had a good time here. However, it's really different than the bars I tend to visit on a regular basis (it's more grungy/sketch/ghetto). I'd probably go back if I have a friend visiting from out of state who's wanting to experience the SF culture. PS: No cover before 11pm (maybe 10:30pm) not quite sure. Cover is usually $5.

Five stars just for Tara, the regular bartender on Friday nights. Friendliest bartender in the city and makes a mean drink! Minus one star for the lack of space on the "dance floor" if you can even call it that... Minus another star for the sad fact I seem of get something stolen almost every time I go here! If you're looking for a grimy ass dive bar with good music, cheap cover and cheap(ish) drinks then the ironically titled Beauty Bar is the place for you.

I recommend staying away from this place. Had my phone, sunglasses, and credit card stolen from my zipped bag last night. I walked outside the bar and noticed multiple other girls (about 4 more) saying their stuff was stolen too. One of the girls spoke to the owner of the bar who did nothing to help. After talking to some of the workers, they said stuff like this happens here often, yet there's nothing done by management to fix the issue. Definitely recommend going to a different place to get yourself a drink.
