Haven’t visited this location in a few yrs. Stopped going because of the Increases in prices while the food became more and more tasteless and small in potions. Today 12/29/23.I decided to give it another try only because I was passing through the neighborhood.Debated on if I really wanted to give this spot another shot and hunger made me do it. I must say the food was absolutely Horrible, they even take out the food with no care in the world just slamming your food down, got home and couldn’t even eat the sides because it was that tasteless. The only thing that saved the meal was the BBQ sauce on the chicken which made it okay to eat.This location has continuously went down hill in taste and service.This is shameful that this establishment is called a soul food joint and the food is ridiculously horrible. I Will never return. Best of luck to this restaurant.

This is great local food spot; if you desired some decent soul food. My go to is the sweet chili salmon , Mac n cheese and the broccoli with cauliflower and carrot mixed. It’s always nice and buttery. They have amazing blue velvet cake and lemon cake ! It’s not a dine -in restaurant. They play good music while you wait. The fried chicken and BBQ is decent just ensure it’s fresh. Portion sizes are decent as well.

Food is like someone who cooked it has the holy spirit. Because the food taste heavily.

The Nostrand location has absolutely horrible customer service and I was forced to patron. I actually tried to cancel my order and was refused. I didn't experience the rudness until after I paid, was denied my refund and forced to support an establishment that I believe should be shut down. The level of disrespect far exceeds anything that would be considered professional and I feel like they stole my money. I asked for a refund before the food was prepared and was denied and I can't be sure they didn't spit in it or do something to it. I will make it a personal mission to tell everyone that this is NOT the place to go.

Waited on line for almost 20 minutes during my lunch. Keep in mind there was only two people ahead of me. To have this old woman walks in and jumps the line. I immediately alert the server. She claims she didn't see the what occurred and started to take order with an attitude. Once I got my order, she told the cashier to cash me out asap. I tried my food and was very disappointed!!! I ordered whiting dinner sting beans and black eyed peas. The food was cold. The fish was over cooked. Enjoy with caution

Local no-frills carry-out Soulfood shop with buffet-style food presentation, platter choices, and no seating but a spacious pick-up area. It's akin to Boston Market, but pricier, serving a fusion of black American/ Caribbean/Jamaican food, in larger portions. The food is fine and flavorful but overpriced. I ordered using an Uber Eats buy one, get one deal (on entrées). For prices, I issued 3 stars instead of 4. They do not have Sorrel, Carrot juice, or other Caribbean classics. Re: Food - they offer Caribbean-inspired Soulfood, which includes meat, dairy, gluten, garlic, onions, shellfish & seafood, eggs, and nuts. The nuts are usually in desserts like carrots cake (with choopped nut toppings). The dinner plate and cake portions are large. Best to consult the staff if you have major concerns! They seem indifferent but are responsive to requests. Plenty of veggies, fish, and dairy options for vegetarians. There aren't as many choices for vegans and there is still potential cross-contamination with animal products. Desserts include Red Velvet cake, Blue Velvet cake, Carrot cake, and what looked like Rum cake. Venue - The meals are kid-friendly and the venue itself is plain - neither offensive or entertaining. This is a takeaway restaurant so do not expect to sit down or settle kids in. Per other reviews, there is sometimes a long wait for pick-up/ to order. You know your child so plan accordingly. PS - We visited late at night so the buffer looks a bit bare. I'm sure they are better stocked earlier in the day.

I tried this spot for the first time. I got me fried shrimp with barbecue sauce, Mac and cheese, and candied yams. The food was good. My favorite food on the plate was the Mac and cheese it was good and I wished there was more on my plate. My least favorite food on the plate were the yams. They weren’t bad but I wish it was more sweeter. The shrimp was also good but they drenched in barbecue so it loss it’s crisp but I still enjoyed it.

Extremely unprofessional. I called about 15 times in a duration over an hour . NO ANSWER. Which is surprising being that the food takes 30 mins or more & it’s 90 degrees out there is no where to sit inside or outside so I assumed pick up was an option but apparently not being that in 2 days no one has answer the phone , do not recommend, customer service is terrible

I stop in about once a week here or the nostrand location, for the Bogo deal. My partner and I get salmon meal with veggies. This time it was green beans and spinach. All was well, with the exception of the salmon was a bit over cooked today. Which isn't usually the case. Service was welcoming, no complaints there.

What happened here? I am truly confused. The food at this location used to be so good but after my order tonight this will be the last time I'll eat anything from here. First and foremost half of my order never arrived but I don't blame the delivery person because he can only deliver what he's given. What I did receive was a fried whiting dinner with collard greens, mac n ' cheese, salt and sugar. Yes, you read that correctly. The salt is so prominent you HAVE TO drink water after eating a forkful. I'm guessing the person who prepares the greens may have dropped the whole container of salt into the pot and then tried to cover it up by adding sugar to balance it because that's what it tastes like, sweet salty greens and the after taste is horrendous. I'm also guessing that EXTRA salt dropped into the pasta water which is fine- however adding MORE salt with salted butter and salty cheese is not a good look. The fish somehow didn't get as much salt as the sides but it sure sat in that oil for a good while and then I'm guessing it sat under the heat lamp where it dried out every piece on my plate. It was so dry I wasn't sure if it was actually fish. It just tasted like fried air or better yet fried fish skin. What happened here?? There are so MANY Bed Stuy residents that will support local eateries especially Black Owned establishments but when the quality of food fails why should we continue to support? Consistency is vital, Good Customer Service is vital. It is my hope that at some point they figure out how to fix this situation and get it together but the damage has been done . Good luck.

Finally caught a BOGO special on a food delivery app. Bed-Stuy Fish Fry showed in the list of suggestions. I've ordered takeout and delivery from various BSFF locations previously and I'm usually satisfied. Today, I selected the salmon bites over shrimp fried rice. The salmon was cut into nice bite-sized pieces and they tasted really good. I worry about salmon being overly "fishy" or covered in gooey salmon skin but thankfully, there was none of that with my order. In my opinion, the fried rice was missing a few key elements like scrambled egg, scallions, onions, bean sprouts... I know that this isn't Asian food but some ingredients should come standard in certain dishes. The rice was certainly overloaded with mixed vegetables and that's not a plus. Still a pretty tasty dish overall. Along with my BOGO special, I ordered a slice of pineapple coconut cake for dessert. Fluffy, sweet-so good! My free second order is for tomorrow's lunch. Good stuff.

I should have checked the Yelp reviews before going. Instead I bought into their IG post and decided to travel and support a black owned restaurant. I have so many regrets and will never go back. 1. Inside was like a sauna. So hot and uncomfortable. 2. The customer service is horrible. I mean absolutely horrendous. The woman taking my order behaved as though it was the most annoying experience of her life. Lots of eye rolling and lack of listening at the same time. Leading to us having to repeat more than once what we wanted. 3. The food was bad. Flavorless, seasonless, and not worth ever trying again.

2 of the cashiers had on the same plastic gloves to take money AND serve food . The wait was horrible very hot, staff unprofessional

The bed stuy Halsey street location which is the original location I believe is by far the worse of all locations. Idk who's in the kitchen that decided they were no longer going to season the Mac and cheese but they need to get it together. The Canarsie location is 70x better tasting. I just spent $60 and the only thing that tasted good was fried chicken I am extremely disappointed. They served me some soggy turkey wings and mac and cheese that taste simply like such. Noodles and cheese no flavor nothing. Yams were absolutely terrible and rice and peas was hard and I haven't seen a pea yet half way through. Last time ordering from them.

This is my local Bed-Stuy fish fry location and for the most part what I can say it's clean, always packed on the weekends. If your craving Thanksgiving food during anytime time of the year there food is very tasty and flavorful compared to the other locations. Food: 4/5 The macaroni and cheese is always AMAZING. the collard greens are tasty seasoned and always hit the spot. I've tried the cabbage and it's alright. Mash potatoes are good as well. The turkey meatloaf is decent kind salty -- but the shrimp is so good. I've tried the yams and there sweet but they taste like how grandma or mom would make them during the holidays. Service: 2.5 -3 /5 Depends on the time and day you go honestly. They need to work on customer service. Some of the women which is a huge percentage of the staff working there are not always pleasant. They can come off ill-mannered and impatient. Please who ever manages this location have some classes or refreshers because they deal with the public & it could really hurt business. Ambiance: 3/5 basics standard entry way , decent amount of standing space. Food is visible to see which I like.

Ordered on Uber Eats with buy 1 get 1 promo for two bowl of Salmon Bites & Shrimps over fried rice and one plate came WITH NO SHRIMP.. Overall both plates looked extremely underwhelming. Very disappointing

The food was absolutely delicious, it was flavorful without being overly salty, and the portions are more than generous. It was crowded but the service was quick the workers were pleasant, the place is small but the ambiance is cozy.

So I left a review on google. Now I'm back. They're supposed to open at 11:00 am. Was told they won't be ready until 11:30. They need to change their schedule if they're aren't going to be able to accommodate people when they come. This is the first time

I haven't been here in a while and I was not disappointed at all! The food was delicious as I remembered! I ordered a large order of Mac and cheese with collard greens and jerk chicken. This order was able to feed two people.

I have NEVER been disappointed in the food from this restaurant. It is takeout in Co-op City. The food is excellent and hefty portions. The desserts are delicious. I wouldn't know who could possibly rate them lower than 5 stars. The staff is friendly, patient, helpful with selections. Excellent customer service. Highly recommended.

The food is tasty but the last few times I visited the Fulton street location. It seems like somebody put x lax in the food. Because it caused severe cases of diarrhea to me.

I have been waiting for almost 2 hours for my food, ridiculous. It said my order was ready on Uber eats. Still waiting for pick up. Wouldn't go back

This location on Halsey really fell off over the years. Especially when the employees there are so much caught up in their own conversations instead of focusing on getting the orders right. My last visit there, the employees were rude and act like they're doing you a favor by stopping in. Today I decided to order the jerk chicken platter thru Uber Eats. They must've been ready to get rid of these thighs in the included photo because that's all they gave me. I guess plastic utensils like a fork and knife along with napkins is too much to ask for now since I didn't receive any with my two orders. It's getting harder and harder to show support of Black Owned Franchises when they start to get lazy and sell trash.

I've been ordering from this location for the last year and all I can say is the food is always fresh cooked right and delicious as always. I hope to actually walk into the location and hopefully eat inside one day. Until then I will forever be an Uber Eats ordering customer. To the staff I think you for always making my food the way I want it.

What is it with them ALWAYS GETTING the "mash potatoes" mixed up the "potato salad"??? it's NOT THE SAME THING! literally after getting off the phone with them and explaining my order they still sent mash potatoes. The food & service tonight was horrible waited 40 minutes for catfish that wasn't fully cooked I ordered it well done the green beans where cold I live 5 minutes from there so traveling would not had made the food cold was told my order took so long because the cook only made 1 piece then it was half a spoon of Mac & cheese for 22.00 I didn't order food to come in my home to warm it up terrible

The food was delicious. I ordered the fried catfish, yams, and string beans. Can I tell you that I was almost in tears?!?!? The food was not salty, not too sweet, and the string beans were fresh!Good flavor and the price I can't complain. The food is made with love. I took my cousin and friend. They loved it, too! The cakes are great as well. Whatever they do, please continue to cook with love, and please continue to provide good service!

Customer service is poor every time I've ordered from here. If you arrive in person, it's unlikely that your order will be taken immediately. Once it is taken, be prepared to wait half an hour for your food. Quite overpriced, there's a fish market on Broadway about 3 blocks away where you can get larger quantities of fried fish for cheaper.

First time here. The place wasn't packed so the service was quick. The plates are expensive but the equality of food and the quantity is very good. The servers were friendly and welcoming. The vibe of the place was chill and calm. Lighting wasn't so it felt low key and exclusive. Definitely would recommend to anyone to come here and give them a try.

Poor customer service the food was subpar and cold. I'm really disappointed how the place has gone down since it's opening.

The oxtail was not cooked fully it was like chewing on a rubber ball. I literally had to cook it over myself. I remember it use to fall off the bone and it was well seasoned! Now it's little to none! Plz get the cook back from 2021 when the oxtail was like going to the Jamaican spots. It's too expensive for it not to at leave a 8! I give it a 4 the Mac saved the plate! The yams need not to have so much vanilla it's coming off a little bitter.

The fish was on point, I liked the candied yams but the cabbage was not crunchy and seemed over cooked. My siblings liked the BBQ chicken, steamed veggies and yellow rice. The customer service made me walk out even before ordering my food no type of decent respect. And when I glanced over at the food it didn't even look appetizing as it once did when I use to come here. Overall glad I didn't waste my money here. Most likely won't ever go back.

Food was barely okay. But what was the worst is the customer service. The staff preferably the women all act as if they have attitude. They don't say hello how can I help you, they look at you waiting for you to speak first. It is horrible and this is not the first time I experienced this. I ordered shrimp, fish combo, had to order my sides separately which I was told they were 5.00 as for the two, when I get to the register it was 10.00, and a slice of cake came up to 44.00 almost 50.dollars not worth it at all. Then, without telling me they charged me for using my card. They are suppose to tell you it's a fee when using your card. When I brought it to the woman attention, her response was that "I thought you knew". Wrong answer first of all I don't eat out often for this same reason subpar food and bad customer service, This is not how you serve the public. If I did not check my receipt in front of her I would not have known about the charge. I will not be going here ever again horrible if I could give it no stars I would.. I've frequented this location many times over the years, but today will be my time. I placed my order of fish, collard greens and yams, along with an order of bbq chicken, yams and Mac and cheese and two drinks. Instead of relaying that they were out of bbq chicken to the customer (me), I heard the women behind the counter say to just put baked chicken in an order. That order turned out to be mine. Once they finished packing the order, my number was called, I took the bag and immediately unpacked it...baked chicken. This isn't what I ordered, now it's let me see the ticket, knowing damn well I ordered bbq chicken. Now they all look like deers standing in the headlights. They have a no refund policy, so now I'm being forced to choose a substitute I did not want. I had to ask for the drinks I paid for. The staff doesn't communicate well with each other and they are rude to customers. The entire staff needs to be replaced! Fish was ok, yams good, collard greens need to be seasoned. They won't have to worry about me or my family ever returning. There are other places with better service and food who id rather spend my money with.

Abigail is the rudest server at the Livingston St store. She screwed up my delivery order. I called and requested the manager and was told no and hung up on. I then called back and requested the manager again. I informed Abigail her conversations had been taped and her rudeness,discourses are no qualities for serving food. Customers please avoid bed stuy fish fry on Livingston ave in Brooklyn NY. I will be wafollowing up with the manager to insure futureor any Customers are mistreated while being served by ignorant staff . Dere. Please avoid this establishment at all costs. Her lack of courtesy and professional are not the qualities a person handling or serving food are acceptable . When I called 2 times I was initially hung up on, and the second refused the restaurant manager. I will be in to see the manager to insure this incident does not repeat itself. Abigail is a liability to the quality service your customers depend on, an the idea she thought she could get away with it. How many other customers have you lost too Abigail or intend to lose. There has to be implied trust between food handlers and customers, And Abigail has none.

I visited the Bronx location today and I purchased two dinners, two drinks and three desserts, which came to a total of $79 Which is grossly overpriced for takeout. and I noticed on the receipt that I was overcharged for one item, so I went back to the cashier and kindly, let her know what happened and there was no apology for the error and she had a very bad attitude as if I did something wrong. so I was issued a refund that did not include tax but that's OK. The food is decent but over priced The customer service really needs to be approved. And remember to go over your receipts Before leaving.

I came to this location Friday evening to order dinner for my family, my receipt had my exact order on it, but when I arrived home, my order wasn't even complete. I instantly called the number on my receipt, to my surprise, they did NOT answer. I spent $71.00 in that place, just to get robbed, out of my food. (Missing Lrg Mac n Cheese + Four Fried Chicken Legs). Now here the Kicker.., when I went there the nxt day, remind you I live in Queens, gas is still high, they had the audacity to tell me, they didn't work last night, so I have to wait to nxt Friday to comeback there and complain to the workers that worked on Friday.. SMH. I'll Never spend my money in that place ever Again.. and suggest others to eat at aBetter, more Professional Resturant in a better location. This hole in the wall is Not It!!!! Maybe a good location for a Dispensary or Smoke Shop.. but not a Fish Fry.

There is not a low enough rating to give this restaurant, sadly to say. I couldn't get pass the service from the woman at the register to know if the food was any good. I placed an order online for pick up and arrived before it was packaged. Made a simple request to separate the fried fish from the vegetables that always overflow and make the fried food soggy. She was very condescending, rude and disrespectful. To make a long story short, I walked out and canceled the order. Oh yeah, as for ambiance you will come out with your clothes smelling like fish.

My first time tasting your food I was at a party and they happened to get food catered by you. I had fried chicken and green beans, the food was so good I asked from where. My visit to your restaurant made me a believer, your Tilapia omg, your sides forget about deliciousness. Today I ordered bbq chicken with cabbage and mac n cheese you never fail just delicious, and I love your portions. That Blue velvet cake is a must have slap you mama good lol.. Thank you for bringing some good soul food to the area

Spent $100 here on Uber eats wanting to support a "neighborhood restaurant" and received the most horrid food it's criminal, I wouldn't even eat that food if someone paid me. Not sure how this restaurant is still in business. I wish I looked at yelp reviews before ordering but here I am, warning you. The food was rancid. I had to take a loss and toss the food. I took couple of bites I hope I won't get food poisoning from just tasting it.

Ordered from UberEats today. I saw they were doing buy 1 get 1 free. I ordered the steamed salmon with Mac and broccoli and a cream of broccoli soup. The salmon dishes were cold and it was pretty nasty. But I paid 50 bucks so I said "whatever I'm starving and don't feel like going to the market" After I ate half of one salmon meal and a couple of spoons of soup about 5 minutes later I'm puking it all up in the toilet. The food was spoiled. I think it was the salmon but honestly everything was pretty nasty so I can't even pinpoint exactly what made me throw up. Can you get money back from UberEats if you're food was spoiled and rancid?? Obviously I will never order from here again. It's so sad these people have absolutely no integrity.

DO NOT UBER EATS YOUR FOOD FROM HERE!!!! Spent $70+ dollars for them to not deliver the sides to two catfish meals, the cake we order was wrong and they delivered a grape soda instead of coke. Wait time 1hr 30 mins... Called the place and the man said sorry but things happen. Well so does this review. First time at Bedstuy fish fry and went with the fried catfish with two side combo. Got my fix of Mac and cheese and candied yams. After a 20 minute wait and another 15 minutes to get back to work my food was still perfectly hot. Flakey fried catfish with a perfectly season breading. Nothing bland here. Mac was good and the candied yams were perfect. Although the prices were kinda high with a long wait time here the serving size was massive and left me with a food coma after eating it all. Eat here!

The service at Halsey st. one of the worst in the city. This is a business for which they NEVER answer the phone. The direct order website is inconsistent. The workers are extremely unprofessional and this seems to be okay for the owner. Food is pretty good( not as good as Melba's but sometimes you don't feel like making the trek to Harlem from Brooklyn) but you have to decide you want to put up with the poor business management. In addition, of the various locations, the offerings are not consistent. Why can't local spots strive for excellence? I guess the owner is content with the money rolling in. Doesn't appreciate the customers or else he would have handled these problems that have been consistent for years.

Most of the "low rated reviews" on yelp come from delivery. I can't speak for that, but if you go in person you'll be pleasantly surprised (:

Honestly I've been calling this place to let them know about their food but, NO ONE ANSWERS, So where do I begin the Baked Mac is Disgusting powdery, nasty texture, the Yams is Bland just alil sweet and discolored as if they purposely wanted the yams to look burnt, the BBQ CHICKEN Horrible just straight nasty maybe today wasn't a good day for them but I can tell you for sure that I will not be eating here again

This by far has to be the worst food I've eaten, and for this place to be held to such a "high" standard I'm beyond disappointed. On top of that, the staff was extremely rude and disrespectful. Paid almost $35 for two plates of garbage. NEVER AGAIN

Food is really good, if we could just get the same in customer service would be great. Colleagues, and I always on on Friday's. We order order fish sandwiches, and wraps. Flavors are wonderful, when orders are correct. Halsey Street location needs to do better with reading, listening, and answering their phone line. Twice I said no foil, more hot sauce, and it continues to be given the same way each time. Communication is the key, so if there is no working phone, how do they expect for customers to contact them.

Notice how all the good reviews are usually 2-3 years old and all the negative reviews are more recent?? Thats because this place has fallen off so bad and management doesnt care to try and fix the things that customers have been complaining about for years now. Examples include; LONG WAIT times above 1hr+, consistently getting orders wrong, Rude and snobby customer service that gives off "you already paid for it so i dont care if its bad because we don't give refunds", really dirty and flies everywhere, extremely overpriced for okay portions that have gotten smaller over the years and just a unsatisfying experience that doesn't justify all the problems stated. i lived right down the street from this place and would always see lines of people waiting for a genuinely mediocre place and would just shake my head and say "they'll learn"
