The Best Los Angeles Restaurants That Are Open on Monday Nights | Eater LA

"A former Mar Vista grocery store has been transformed into one of the neighborhood’s most exciting new restaurants. Jeremy Adler, a partner at Santa Monica’s Cobi’s, purchased the space in 2023 and brought Michael Leonard on as the chef. Leonard’s menu seamlessly brings together California and Italian cooking with dishes like focaccia, crispy artichokes, and goat-cheese-filled zucchini blossoms. Getting the pizza dough just right was a months-long project, culminating in a blistered, puffy crust topped with ingredients like mushrooms, pepperoni, zucchini, and ricotta. A fiery oven is the centerpiece of the restaurant, and the primary cooking method for proteins like snapper, hanger steak, and pork collar. Pair meals here with cocktails from Former Cassia bartender Nicole Mitchell, like the Vesper Dream with olive oil-infused vodka." - Rebecca Roland

4 Restaurants to Try This Weekend in Los Angeles: June 6 | Eater LA

"Housed in a converted bodega and shepherded by an experienced restaurateur, this Mar Vista neighborhood gem delivers breezy, casual California-Italian dining with an inviting ambience. The menu features fried squash blossoms, blimp-shaped arancini, personal-sized pizzas with pillowy, slightly sweet New York-esque crusts, and a range of pastas and dishes reminiscent of Evan Funke’s style—grilled prawns in salsa verde, linguine al limone, burrata panzanella, and pesto-laden foglie d’Olivo. Seafood options include a grilled sea bass with a herbaceous Sicilian tarragon sauce, and desserts include excellent homemade gelati. Prices are very reasonable (pastas under $20, pizzas up to $23), making it easy to enjoy a full meal without breaking the bank." - Eater Staff

We live within walking distance and have been looking forward to the opening of this space for a long time. The space is nice, especially the outdoor patio. We’ve been twice, seated inside on our first visit, and outdoors for our second visit. The food is good, some dishes stronger than others. Crispy Squash and Goat Cheese Stuffed Squash Blossoms are seasonal standouts. The entrees and pastas are good, but nothing to write home about. The Rotisserie Chicken is under seasoned, the pesto sauce is meh, carbonara was too eggy for me. Ultimately we had higher hopes since we enjoy Cobi’s. But it is convenient for us. Another interesting note, there’s definitely a scene happening around the bar, which is something we would not have expected for a neighborhood restaurant.

Google
Beethoven Market is a small restaurant in a quiet neighborhood in Venice. The menu can best be described as “California Italian”, with pizzas, pastas, and entrees. First, there’s no valet parking. You’ll need to park on Palms Ave (and please don’t have loud conversations when passing people’s homes). The food reminds me a lot of Felix or Mother Wolf, and it’s outstanding! There’s a hopping bar inside, and lots of tables. It’s a little bit crowded and noisy. It’s actually brighter and quieter in the outdoor terrace, and they have outdoor heaters. The check was a lot less expensive than similar restaurants around LA! Highly recommended! Note: you may have to book a table a few weeks in advance for busy nights. Also note: the Cesar salad dressing is really fishy - really fishy.

Google
What a welcome treat to have Beethoven Market in the neighborhood! I've enjoyed three visits here so far: once for a full meal and twice for a quick drink at the bar. The team should be proud of their efforts; it feels like a place that has been open much longer than a week and a half. It's clear there is an effort being made to be a good space in the community. Prices are reasonable, the space is charming and comfortable, and the food and drink are delicious. There is something here for families, first dates, and everyone in between. Staff are earnest and authentically oriented towards providing a great experience for their guests. Reading other reviews, it appears some folks in the neighborhood are making an effort to review bomb this new business. It seems like they miss the corner store, or don't like the presence of a business with pm hours, or simply haven't accepted that change is the only constant. Regardless, it's worth giving Beethoven Market a try (reservations recommended!) and enjoying what this delightful addition to Mar Vista has to offer.

Google
Awesome restaurant. My friend and I walked in around 5:30pm and it was already packed. Snagged two bar seats after waiting for like 15 mins! Split the chicken and the mushroom pizza, both were perfect. Thank you!

Google
The vibe was on point! Gorgeous patio and loved the aesthetic inside too. Place was packed - very much a hot spot right now. If you plan on going either have a resy or get there as soon as they open. Parking isn’t great - take an uber. Food was good but I would say average Italian. Nothing was bad, but for all the hype it didn’t blow me away. Highlights were definitely the octopus and pork collar. Pork is often so dry at restaurants, but not the case here! It was perfectly cooked and juicy. Highly recommend. My friends had pastas and both said they were average. Good but not a wow.

Google
Beethoven Market is an absolute gem. The staff is attentive, the food is great, and their commitment to community and keeping prices reasonable is very appreciated. We had the homemade focaccia with ricotta & honey, the olives, the meatballs (so unique!), the homemade pasta (cooked perfectly), plus a fabulous margherita pizza. For drinks, the thyme spritz, vesper dream martini, and chilled red wine were standouts. TIP: If you want to walk in but can’t get a table or seats at the bar, they let you order at the bar and hang out on the comfy benches around the tree on the patio. Great spot and I know we will be back many times.

Google
So happy we’ve got this addition to the neighborhood. It’s so the type of restaurant that would be my regular because it’s affordable, delicious, friendly, and leaves you feeling good after (aka quality ingredients). Every item was delicious but some of my faves were: focaccia, squash blossoms, all the salads (arugula, Caesar, green bean, panzanella), clam pizza, and foglio pesto pasta. Proteins were very good as well. Desserts… excellent. Especially the sorbet compared to how much I normally like sorbet. $60/pp with drinks. $30-40pp without.

Google
Vibes, immaculate (even on a Monday night). Service, wonderful. Food, amazing. Securing a prime time dinner resy was tough but worth it. Ordered just about everything on the menu and it all delivered. Focaccia, Wild Arugula salad, Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe, Pepperoni pizza, Rotisserie Chicken, Roasted Cauliflower and two desserts - Tiramisu & Strawberry Sorbetti 🤌 Highly recommend for any occasion.

Yelp
I've been to Beethoven market twice now. Once on a date night and once with girlfriends. Both times the food exceeded my expectations. The ambiance is lovely. We sat on the patio both times and it's perfect for a summer evening. Also had a drink at the bar while waiting for a friend and the inside, especially the bar is really cute. The service was great both times. Our waiter (different each time) recommended dishes we loved. Grilled focaccia with whipped ricotta and honey - delicious Octopus - really nice, wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had but the flavors all worked well together Prawns - 12/10 love the salsa verde Fiori di zucca - excellent and not heavy, considering they were fried they were actually quite light and airy Tuna carpaccio - good but I'd probably skip next time I'm not a fan of capers Tomato and cucumber - really fresh and perfect for summer Mezzi rigatoni carbonara - savory and delicious Corn pizza - forget the exact name of this one but I think it was a seasonal pizza and was really unique would love to see it on the menu again Pork collar - when I had it it was with a cherry sauce which I didn't love and it felt a little dry personally but they've changed it and it now has nectarine, fennel and mint which sounds lovely Orange wine by the glass was nice. My husband had the vesper dream and really enjoyed it. Tiramisu - 20/10 don't miss it Highly recommend for a group or date night!

Yelp
This place has gotten so much hype lately so I decided I needed to check it out! I made a reservation a couple weeks in advance for dinner. First off, parking was surprisingly easy. Super simple street parking and there's tons of it in the surrounding neighborhood. The restaurant itself is really pretty, nice ambiance. There's an outdoor patio, seating inside, and then seating in the back patio which is where we were seated. Really pretty out there. For a drink, I got the Vesper Dream - essentially a martini but with a couple differences like olive-oil washed vodka. It was delicious! Very crisp. My friend got the Piña Colada with lava flow and loved it. For food, we started with the octopus appetizer. I love octopus and this was delicious! It was one portion served in a dish with lima beans, lemon, and other veggies. It was really good - good to split among 2 people. For my main, I ordered the pork collar, as I saw some rave reviews about that dish and the waiter recommended it. Sadly, I wasn't that wowed by it. The dish itself was presented beautifully but after a couple bites, I realized the nectarine was my favorite part of the meal and I wasn't a fan of the actual pork. In my opinion, it was dry and not very flavorful. I mentioned this to the waiter and he kindly swapped it out for another dish, I got the rotisserie chicken instead. A big portion came out and it was tasty. Though I'd likely try something else next time as my main, maybe one of the pasta dishes. Service was wonderful, Robert was our waiter and he was super attentive, friendly, and wonderful.

Yelp
We were genuinely excited to try Beethoven Market in Mar Vista, and while there were some definite highlights, our experience was a mixed bag overall. Our entire table rated it 5/10. Ambience & First Impressions: The setting is absolutely beautiful. As soon as you step inside, the space feels inviting and stylish, setting the stage for what we hoped would be a great evening. Our server was lovely--sweet, attentive, and really the standout in terms of service. I cannot remember her name but she needs some recognition. Food & Drink: We started with the focaccia, which unfortunately came out cold and consisted of a single small slice--disappointing. To their credit, they replaced it promptly, which we appreciated. The squash blossoms and rice balls were enjoyable, and the pepperoni pizza was crispy and delicious--probably the best thing we had- which isn't saying much. The lemon pasta was light and pleasant, though not particularly memorable. The carbonara, on the other hand, was rich, flavorful, and easily one of the stronger dishes of the night. The rest of the meal was less successful. The Caesar salad was overwhelmingly fishy--anchovy-forward to the point of being hard to eat. The octopus was rubbery and overly salty, and the mussels were not only extremely salty but served cold. Cocktails were creative and well-crafted. However, a strange moment came when the bartender made an offhand, somewhat awkward comment about our dirty martini with extra olives--nothing offensive, just oddly out of place. Service & Timing: Aside from our server, the overall service felt rushed and disjointed. Appetizers came out almost immediately after ordering, which made us question whether they were made fresh. The bread being cold only added to that concern. Despite asking for our dishes to be spaced out, the rest of the courses arrived while we were still working on the first round, which created a cramped and rushed dining experience. We noticed the table next to us seemed just as frustrated by the pacing. Final Thoughts: Prices were on the mid to higher end, as expected for a trendy new spot in West LA. Some dishes and drinks delivered, but the inconsistent execution and oddly paced service made it hard to fully enjoy the evening. Beethoven Market has potential--great atmosphere, a few standout items--but for now, it feels like style is outpacing substance. Hopefully with time, they find their rhythm.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! Food is delicious and at a reasonable price!! Focaccia with whipped ricotta was delicious. Pizza is light and airy. Carbonara wasn't too heavy. Wouldn't get the green bean salad again and I didn't love the filling on the squash blossoms here. We sat on the patio and it was gorgeous and they gave us a free sorbet for a birthday! Service is really quick too.

Yelp
We walked in around 5pm on a Saturday and waited about 15 minutes for a table for two--totally worth it. The patio is breezy and charming, perfect for a relaxed evening. We ordered a bottle of wine and shared several small plates: the focaccia with whipped ricotta (an absolute must), fried olives, Caesar salad, roasted artichokes, tuna carpaccio, and the spaghetti aglio olio e pepperoncini. Every single dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Our server was warm and attentive, and the bussers and runners were just as kind. We were never rushed, and got to linger for nearly two hours enjoying our meal and conversation. Such a lovely experience from start to finish--can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Went here over the weekend with some friends. Nice vibes and great food. A little out of the way for me so I'm not sure I'll be back but if you're in the neighborhood it's a cute spot. We got the tomato and cucumber salad, tuna carpaccio, arugula salad, rotisserie chicken, snapper, and tiramisu. Loved it all but top favorites were the arugula salad, tuna carpaccio, snapper and tiramisu.

Yelp
We loved this stop - we sat on the patio which was beautiful and very quiet. A fully different vibe from the loud crowded bar inside. All of the food we got was delicious and our server was great. Lemon linguine was a fave, the artichokes were delicious and the table side scoop of Tiramisu was the perfect ending. Can't wait to come back

Yelp
An amazing experience in a space that I remember from growing up in the area was a nondescript liquor store. The aesthetic is modern, open and inviting with a buzzy energy that amplifies the joy at each individual table experiencing the varied and well-executed menu that is mostly light Italian at its core. The tuna carpaccio is the best version I can remember having - the fish is not cut so thin like at some other places that one can't even taste it. Calamari was another standout starter with a light coating of batter, tender squid and very little oil. The arrabiata has a nice bright and spicy tomato sauce coating al dente pasta. Another great pasta is the bolognese which is unique because it doesn't come with a tomato-based sauce and the ragu is cooked down so the flavor of the meat is very prominent in the dish and tasty. The mushroom pizza was another highlight - the crust is perfectly airy and crisp while there is just enough toppings - not too cheesy either. The sides continue the hit parade, especially the roasted cauliflower which seems like a Mediterranean variety that includes golden raisins that really add to the overall flavor of the dish. While there was barely enough room for dessert - the tiramisu scooped out of a pan at the table is easily the best in the city and the strawberry sundae is also very good and can even serve as a palate cleanser. All of this at accessible price points. You won't find $20 cocktails or $25 avocado toast here. The room, including its wrap around bar that anchors it, is packed and reservations are hard to come by, but it is definitely worth the effort.

Yelp
We had a great selection. It was a group of four of us two had pasta. My friend had the hanger steak and I had the pork. As an appetizer, we had the meatballs and the lemon pizza with clams! I know it sounds weird, but you should give it a try if you're into this sort of thing it wasn't that strange and we kind of enjoyed it! Our server was friendly and we sat on the outdoor patio, which I really liked because it was a nice night and it's a lot quieter on the outside. We will definitely be back in the future. I think this is a great addition to the neighborhood!

Yelp
This new neighborhood Italian restaurant is a great spot for a mid-week dinner! There's a nice open indoor area and a cute outdoor patio (with heaters) and plenty of street parking on Palms. The prices for the pastas and pizzas are super reasonable, many at under $20. It's best done family style where you can get a bunch of dishes and share; my personal favorite was the foccacia with ricotta and avocado honey! They also have a full bar with plenty of cocktail and wine options, all also reasonably priced. Definitely get a reservation if you plan to come, because the wait for walk-ins on weekends is usually 2+ hours. The bar is first come first serve but there were a lot of people waiting for a seat at the bar.

Yelp
We have eaten at Beethoven Market several times in the last two months. The first time, we sat on the lovely heated patio where it's okay to bring your pup. The second time we sat inside near the bar which can get a bit noisy, but you'll be so busy enjoying the food that you won't notice the noise! There is always a crowd here and parking is very tough so come early to find parking or be adventurous and Waymo over! We love the Olive Ascolana which is crispy olives stuffed with a bit of chicken. The combination just works! The standout salad is the Caesar. The dressing is fantastic and the croutons crispy. Spaghetti Caco e Pepe is one of my favorite pasta dishes here and has the perfect amount of cheese and seasoning. We also enjoy the Margherita Pizza, Rotisserie Chicken, and Hangar Steak. We are going again tonight and we might just try something new!

Yelp
Literally in a middle of a neighborhood, this is a cute locals spot. Our reservation was way late in the evening so we tried to come in sooner, probably waited around 45 minutes but grabbed drinks at the bar at sat out in the patio under the tree so it was cozy beneath all the heat lamps. It's a vibe for sure. Drinks were good and we continued with a glass of wine for our octopus, suppli and green beans. Food comes come as it's ready for the most part and everything was delicious. Octopus was only two pieces but cooked well and came with luscious beans, different than we're used to. Delicious suppli as if we were in Rome. We easily could have eaten 4. The green beans were so punchy with the romesco and fennel. It was like eating a caesar salad. Then came the carbonara and pork collar. Carbonara had great body and so smooth paired well with crispy guanciale. Pork was so so so tender. Excellent apples, classic pairing. We ended with an affogato. Would 100% come back for one of the best meals in recent memory.

Yelp
One of the best places in LA right now: Beethoven Market has a peaceful and lovely outdoor patio, beautiful pasta (that arrabbiata is perfect), great pizza (get the sausage and peppers!), and wonderful service (Robert is so attentive and has a great sense of humor). Special shoutout to the strawberry sundae, it's one of the best looking and best tasting desserts I've had in a while. And to top it all off, everything is priced reasonably unlike so many other places these days! I see why this place is so busy - they deserve all the success, and if I lived closer I'd definitely come here regularly. We will be back!

Melanie K.

Yelp
Would give this place 3.5 stars. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't mind blowing. Highlights were the snapper and the focaccia with the whipped honey. The wine selection was awful, not sure if we ordered the wrong wines or they left it out to oxidize for too long but my orange wine was hard to drink and same for my friend's Chardonnay. Service was fine, our server forgot to bring our wines out and we had to remind them lol.

Justin G.

Yelp
Decent spot! I liked that it was hidden away in an unassuming Mar Vista neighborhood. I liked the inside vibes. Very trendy, LA decor and a younger crowd. The food was fine but nothing spectacular. I had the artichoke pasta and thought the sauce could have been more flavorful. The pork collar was the star of the show- very flavorful and buttery. Overall, I thought it was a bit pricey, but expected with a trendy place like this.

Yelp
This newly opened Italian restaurant features great eats at affordable prices and a lovely ambiance! My friend and I celebrated her birthday at this restaurant on an early Sunday night. I believe they are currently reservation only and she made the reservation 2 weeks prior. Entering-in, there was a big and nice bar inside and a nice outdoor seating area. We were seated outside and the seats were comfy, but I was a bit blinded by the glare of the sun, but thankfully I had sunglasses. Wish the area was more shaded though. There were also heaters outside in case it gets cold. We ended up ordering the Focaccia, Fiori di Zucca, Green Beans, Mezzi Rigatoni Carbonara, Fig and Prosciutto Pizza, and Cantaloupe Gelato. - Focaccia: Warm and fluffy. Loved the drizzle of the herby and nutty olive oil. Together with the sweet and creamy whipped ricotta, it was a nice appetizer. Good for $6. - Fiori di Zucca: My favorite dish of the bunch. The crisp zucchini blossoms were nicely fried and battered with a tempura batter. The herbed goat cheese filling will also creamy and flavorful. - Green Beans: Didn't expect these to be served cold, but they were still good! It was cheesy and flavorful. Wish they were cooked a little longer though. - Mezzi Rigatoni Carbonara: The pasta was cooked well and I loved the rich and creamy sauce. The bacon bits were meaty and I also loved the peppery flavor of the whole dish. - Fig and Prosciutto Pizza: Standard and a bit messy, but still a good pizza. I wish it were cheesier though. - Cantaloupe Gelato: Got this for free for my friend's birthday when we told the waiter it was her birthday. It was creamy and had a nice cantaloupe flavor. Overall, I really liked all of the food! It seems like it was prepared well with quality ingredients. The flavors and textures were also great. Best part is all of this was about 50ish per person, so it was pretty affordable for a fancier meal. The service was pretty good and the servers were attentive and nice. I like how they brough us fresh plates and cutlery between the different courses. For parking, it's street parking and I luckily found a spot near the restaurant when I visited. I would plan ahead and have some time designated to find parking before your reservation. I would definitely come back as this is a solid and affordable option for a nice Italian dinner in West LA.

Yelp
Since its emerge in the neighborhood, it's been a buzzing place. walked in without a reservation on a Saturday around 6:00 and was advised it would take about 40-50 min to get a table, opted to wait for bar seating in the meantime. that took about 15 min which wasn't all that long I suppose accept that the bartenders were so busy that I took a while before they acknowledged us, found them to be somewhat unpleasant, like we were burdening them. Also, be prepared- It's pretty loud inside. Had some drinks and the mushroom pizza, everything was good. overall has a good vibe & the outdoor dinning area seems more pleasant. Free street parking all around.

Yelp
Light delicious food!!! Came here for our anniversary dinner. Had the focaccia with whipped ricotta honey- delicious do not skip!! Zucchini blossoms- yum!! Can't find fried cheese filled zucchini blossoms anywhere else and these are gooood. Cacio e Pepe and crab spaghetti- superb!! Corn pizza- nothing special but yummy! Tiramisu-best I've ever had out I think, it's one of my favorite desserts in general and I found nothing to fault here!! Worth the buzz, definitely stop by!! And the outdoor patio is gorgeous.

Yelp
Great service and friendly staff. Things to know happy hour only 3 options for snacks which is bread, Olives, pickles vegetables. The focccia was amazing, best thing I ate at this restaurant. Once the kitchen officially opened at 5 we ordered some apps. Artichoke, zuccini blossoms, and prawns, all were over salted and I'm so sorry to say this but lesser versions of bangers I've had at other restaurants in LA. Would still go for drinks and nice people watching but underwhelmed by the food.
google avatar

Samantha L.

Yelp
We had the caesar salad, foccacia bread with whipped ricotta and cacio e pepe. We loved every dish and highly recommend all three and they were perfectly portioned for two people. The foccacia bread was fluffy and the caesar salad was delish- if you don't like anchovies though I'd skip as their caesar dressing is anchovy heavy. Beethoven market is located off beethoven street and there's street parking surrounding it. Such a cute date night spot and great neighborhood feel. Service was very attentive and i'll be back

Yelp
An oasis in the SM airport desert. What a fabulous little neighborhood gem. The decor, open windows, and outside seating grab you as you approach the place. The service was excellent, the food was pretty good. The portions are a bit small and there's really nothing on the dessert menu aside from ice cream and tiramisu. I also didn't eat any of the Caesar bc the dressing was too heavy on the anchovies for me, so a word of caution, but I would like to return with a bigger group to try more. Especially when it's nice and sunny out!

Yelp
driving down palms blvd one night i saw this random restaurant from the corner of my eye, and i just loved the ambiance. string lights and people eating outside on the patio with plants all about, it looked so cute! knew i had to check it out. so apparently this place used to be a corner liquor store. they redid it and made it into this hip dinner spot. we grabbed a lot of dishes and the quality was so good with a fair price for delicious food. pizza here has a perfectly chewy crust with a nice crisp on the outside, with fresh toppings. burrata salad was to die for, but my friend said it was a bit salty. i didn't mind the salt tho. we both got sandy bum cocktails which were yummy and a bit strong. warmed us up on this cool coastal night, but the heaters were so sufficient almost a lil too warm lol. we absolutely looooved the roasted potatoes, they were incredibly crispy and cooked to perfection with an irresistible creamy and tangy sauce. the fried artichokes almost tasted like seafood in a great lemon aioli sauce. and lastly the cacio e pepe was quite good but the pasta was sliiiighly undercooked, but the sauce was delicious yet could've been a bit creamier. service was so fast and friendly. fun to people watch the hipsters of mar vista here. will surely come back again, it's a lovely spot for a date or catching up with an old friend!

Yelp
Host was great meaning first impression of the restaurant was great. Even the servers were very nice and good about explaining every dish to us. Ambiance was very hip with completely open kitchen. It's a hidden gem in the neighborhood of Mar Vista but I would hate to be living next door to this restaurant. Very odd location but it's because it was convert from small neighborhood mart turned hipster restaurant. Fox News had a story on this in 2024. I will definitely come back with other friends/family! :)

Yelp
Awesome new local spot in the heart of a quiet west side neighborhood. I had a late night dinner here and the food was fantastic for such a reasonable price. It's hard to find pasta that isn't ridiculously priced but this place is doing it right!! We tried the carbonara, cacio e Pepe, & meatballs. They were all great and the service was friendly/welcoming. Excited to come back and try some other menu items soon!

Matt M.

Yelp
We were really excited to finally try Beethoven Market after weeks of trying to get a reservation. As longtime Mar Vista locals (20+ years), we were eager to support a new neighborhood spot. The food and drinks did not disappoint. We had a mix of cocktails and appetizers (focaccia, octopus, fiori di zucca, and the apricot and radicchio salad), followed by the Margherita pizza, chicken, and a few sides. Everything was delicious. Unfortunately, the service was a letdown. It took over 10 minutes before anyone took our drink order or even acknowledge us, and our server with a mustache seemed disinterested and annoyed. We asked for recommendations on a few items but didn't get any insight or back-and-forth conversation, which made the experience feel rushed and impersonal. Our apps came out almost immediately, but cocktails didn't arrive until well after we had finished them. He was pretty much MIA most of the night after that. We'll come back for the food, but really hope the service improves.

Jocelyn B.

Yelp
Beethoven Market completely exceeded expectations. Everything we ordered was genuinely good, and the ingredients tasted super fresh across the board. The night's special--a peaches and burrata salad--was a standout. The peaches were ripe and flavorful, the burrata was creamy, and the whole dish just worked. Simple, but done really well. We also had pizza and pasta, both of which were solid. The pizza had a unique and delicious crust, and the flavors overall were absolutely amazing. But the pasta really stole the show--perfectly cooked, chewy, and clearly made fresh. Every bite had that texture you only get with well-made pasta. Dessert was another highlight. The sorbets were honestly kind of wild--they tasted exactly like the fruit they were made from, which sounds basic but isn't easy to pull off. And finally, our server Joshua was fantastic. Friendly, helpful, knew the menu well, and made the whole night better. You could tell he cared without overdoing it. Highly recommend this place. The food speaks for itself, and the service really added to the experience. We live in the neighborhood and can't wait to go back.

Came here with a girlfriend and had a great time! We even ordered too much because we wanted to try everything the ambiance is so cozy and can't believe this was a convenient store! The crowd was all locals which was nice (we ran in to people we have known for years!) we got seated quickly and got good recs for food. Drinks were great. We got the focaccia (yum!), octopus (wasn't blown away), squash blossom (love the goat cheese), pesto pasta (delish!), and steak (was also good but was so full at this point). They also had bar seating where we would love to come back just for drinks. I think this will be a great neighborhood staple.

Yelp
The patio was the best part of the experience. We got the bucatini arrabbiata as well as the hanger steak.

Yelp
Beethoven Market was a highly anticipated opening, and getting a reservation was tough. Overall, Beethoven is off to a strong start with decent food at a reasonable price point, save for a few swings and misses. The tender and charred octopus is a must try and the favorite of the table. We were perplexed by the sugary bolognese which was sweetened beyond reasonable and what was billed as roasted artichokes, which turned out to be a plate of quartered artichoke hearts that were reminiscent of ones fished out of a jar. The sausage pizza was a highlight, and the crackery crust was my favorite part, but there were only 5 pieces of sausage, but 6 slices which was an odd choice. I could see Beethoven Market as an area staple, but maybe we just need to endure the growing pains for now.

Yelp
We were excited to try this restaurant and didn't mind the 45-minute wait, expecting a great experience. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre and the service was disappointing. Our order was mishandled, and we had to track down help ourselves as our server was very inattentive. Even after the issue was fixed, it came too late to enjoy the meal together. Also the chef refused to make any changes - we requested a protein on our pasta which was sharply denied, and yet we still found 2 errant pieces of pork fat on the dish. Yikes. Not worth the hype.

Yelp
Great location, cool coastal sort of vibe, beautiful restaurant and really good food and service, what else can you ask for? Grilled octopus was good, prosciutto pizza also good along with buratta salad which was OK! We'll be back!

Yelp
Little by little, great neighborhood restaurants serving up delicious, affordable food and cozy ambiance are popping up in LA--and packed every night. Beethoven Market, a dog-friendly Cal-Italian newcomer in Mar Vista, is one of this new breed. Tucked into a residential area with plenty of unrestricted street parking, it even sends out texts to guests, reminding them not to disturb neighbors as they come and go. My sister and I snagged a hard-to-get rez here this weekend, enjoying a menu of generously portioned fare from Executive Chef Michael Leonard (who worked under Chef Evan Funke when he was at Rustic Canyon). The first sign of that apprenticeship were the delicately fried zucchini squash blossoms with goat cheese, a signature Funke dish, that were even juicier and plumper than Evan's. Also notable: rich Foglie d'Ulivo (olive-shaped pasta with homemade basil pesto), juicy Hangar Steak in a sweet "onion agrodolce, and a roasted lemony artichoke side. For dessert, the seasonal strawberry sundae was bursting with fresh berries, strawberry gelato, whipped cream, and a real Rainier cherry on top. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and a wide variety of table types, including booths (dogs are welcome inside, too!). I recommend reserving an outdoor table until the acoustics are upgraded. Fun fact: Before it was a restaurant, Beethoven was a longtime general store owned by my sister's former in-laws). Highly recommended

Yelp
My boyfriend has lived in Mar Vista for 17 years and we both have been very excited about the opening of this neighborhood spot. We can walk to it! Which is great. I feel as it is extremely unfair for reviewers to give this place a poor rating just because they have feelings about the market closing. We have been there twice now, on opening night when we got to meet the owner. He came to our table and chatted with us for a bit. Our server that night was Juan. Very attentive and helpful. Drinks are strong and well crafted. Food was delicious, we ordered the meatballs, squash blossoms and a pizza. Everything was brought to us within a reasonable time and hot. The second time we just stopped by for drinks, stood by the bar and we were happy to see it was very busy. Prices are reasonable and I hope they stay that way.

Yelp
I don't think the place really needs another five star review, but I just have to. This may be my new go to place after going there tonight. Got there at five and the place was packed. I would recommend reservations as I was lucky to get seating. The hostess asked me if I would be done by a certain time and I said yes. To start, it's Italian and prices are very reasonable. The pizza is like Neapolitan. Six types to choose from. The pasta seems to be fresh, but they don't advertise it. The Cacio e Pepe was excellent. Want to try the Zucchini Blossom next time. Most of the reviews highly rate it. The meatballs are all beef, which is my preference. Going back Monday to try some more dishes. Happy Hour from 4-5.

Yelp
This was a disappointment. I'll start with the good: I went with a friend on a Monday night (6/9), and the Market was hoppin'! It's a pretty dining room and a lovely patio. Our server was a tall, Southern man with a moustache (didn't catch his name), and he was very attentive and polite. I had the Sandy Bum drink and it was delicious. All the items on the menu were pretty affordable. I wish I could say the same about the bolognese I ordered. I liked the pasta they used, but the sauce tasted like warmed-over dog food. I wanted to get the Limone Linguini, but you couldn't add a protein. Apparently, the chef won't allow it? I was advised that I could order the linguini and also the rotisserie chicken if I wanted to add a protein. That's just ridiculous. It was also ridiculously loud and cramped. I was at a 2-top next to a 4-top. They squeezed in another seat onto the 4-top, which gave no room to anyone. It could be a good restaurant, but they need to rethink some things.

Yelp
Service was good and it was absolutely delightful sitting at the bar with a view to the outside twinkle lights and foliage. Nearly chipped a tooth on the clamshells that were left on our clam pizza. The mortadella may as well have been purchased at Pavilions (too thick, too chewy, tough rim, so sad). Our ticket rang $170 for an absolutely underwhelming food experience that sent us to Rainbow Acres for dessert. The suggested tip prompt included tax which is sneaky.

Yelp
This restaurant is exceptional. The service (we sat at the bar - which was great) the food is outstanding. Quash Blossoms were the best my wife ever had. Crisp and crunchy. The Basel spaghetti with crab never had before and was outrageous. The take on an Old Fashion was tasty and very good. Errol

Yelp
A vibrant restaurant in the middle of a residential neighborhood only open for dinner. We had no trouble finding parking along Palms. The vibe is California al fresco with booth seating and seamless indoor/outdoor transition. Also family friendly with VIB (Very Important Baby) stroller parking for the early 5:30pm dinner reservation set like we were. The menu is accessible but elevated. You will find classics like pizza and pasta but wood fired and homemade. You'll also find octopus and squash blossoms. The octopus appetizer is a must try and I thoroughly enjoyed the spicy mussels entree. Husband got the carbonara pasta which was chewy and lacked depth. Kiddo enjoyed the pepperoni pizza burnt bubbles and all and gobbled up the olives we got for appetizers. The Gregory cocktail tasted fine but something was off with the pour amount. It looked only half full upon receiving - collar space needs to reassessed. We ordered 2 desserts - the strawberry sundae and mint chip gelato with chocolate shell. Mint chip was the favorite for a refreshing end to the dinner.

Yelp
Went for a birthday dinner and got to try a lot of different dishes. Pretty much every dish was a hit. Make a reservation ahead of time, and street parking might be a bit difficult to find depending on when you go.

Yelp
Beethoven Market is a cute spot. the food is good - it's not going to blow you away, it's just as good as most other similar restaurants in LA, but it's delicious, the atmosphere is lovely, and it's makes for an enjoyable night. my critique - I was dining with a party of 5, and when the focaccia & burrata dish came out, there were only 4 pieces of focaccia. We asked our server for one additional piece and were told no - that it only came as the entire order and we would have to purchase an entire additional dish. This is terrible hospitality, and certainly put a sour taste in our mouths about the restaurant. How much could one little cube of focaccia cost? I know the restaurant is new and these things will hopefully get ironed out - just sharing in the hopes management sees. and Read Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara.

Yelp
First time I came the portions were really good and the second time I returned they were pretty damn stingy, the cacio e pepe had a weird vanilla taste to it, we ordered 6 dishes but somehow the crappy quesadilla we had at the penmar before was tastier than anything we had here, if the service wasn't great I would have given it a one star, probably won't be coming back

Yelp
New favorite restaurant!!! How did Mar Vista get so lucky with this gem?? We are so excited to have Beethoven Market down the street from our house. The vibes were immaculate - every one on the staff were so friendly. Felt like we were at a friends house rather than restaurant. Everything we ate was 10/10. We started with meatballs - these were fried with shredded meat. The green sauce that came along with it complimented the dish. Second - squash blossoms - my husband's picky about squash blossoms but he said these were his favorite! Filled with seasoned goat cheese and fried perfectly. Margarita pizza was delicious! Perfect mix of crisp yet doughy. I'm not a pork person but their pork neck was top tier. With both seasoned cook and fresh apples To top it all off our pup got to enjoy the Beethoven with us We already have another reservation to return & cannot wait to have a completely different food experience!

Yelp
Already went back and again, 10/10! Tried a different pizza this time and was one of the best pizzas ever!!
