Yelp
I have quite a few thoughts and opinions about this spot, so let me break it off into some categories.
Atmosphere
- 3.5/5
- I loved the look of the bar, and I loved the decor. I think the art on the wall and the pieces they added to make it very Halloween-esque were great. However, and it's unfortunately, the way the space is built, but it is extremely narrow at BeetleHouse. Essentially, they have a wall separator that separates the bar from the dining area, and it makes it so very hard for both people and actors alike to walk up and down.
There is also a little back room area and when the actors go over there, if you are in the front, you can't see what they're performing. You just hear them singing. And vice versa. I feel like that takes away from the experience because of the way the area is built. They also encourage exploring, but it's kind of hard to when people are eating right in front of the thing you want to see, and it's already narrow as it is.
Actors
- 4.5/5
- The actors were so exceptional and honestly, they really did work with what they had. The makeup was great, the singing was good, but what really made it where the individual interactions they did with people at the tables. It was my cousin's birthday and Beetlejuice in the most Beetlejuice way took pictures with us. Lydia and Emily from corpse bride was there that day and they were cutting his ass the whole time, which was hilarious honestly, what went against them is the fact that the house is built the way it is. But they did what they could!
Food
- 4/5
- I read mixed reviews about the food so I didn't have high expectations when I got there. Now, I do think it is quite expensive, but you also need to remember you're paying for dinner and a show essentially, so the prefix menu makes sense. As for the food itself, I had the mac & cheese, the Bolognese, and a chocolate cake. The Bolognese was OK, I could've done for more meat and sauce, but when I ate it the next day for leftovers with grated Parmesan cheese, for some reason, it was so much better! The chocolate cake was a bit too much and too chocolatey for me, but that's just my opinion. The mac & cheese, however, FIRRRRRREEEEEE. That was some of the creamiest mac & cheese I've ever had. I did not expect the mac & cheese to be so damn good, but if I worked there, that would be the only thing I'd ever eat all the time and I'd turn into a mac & cheese ball.
Overall
-I'd say, if you are curious, totally go at least once. I had a great experience, and I think, though the bar does sound like it plays on a gimmick, they do a really good job of making it a true authentic experience.
