"In Bay Ridge, Beet & Carrots is a farm-to-table spot with tons of vegan options that make it great for a casual, cozy meal in the neighborhood. Of course, they have their eponymous beet and carrot hummus, but besides that, look for tasty pastas that use seasonal ingredients, like a red bell pepper bucatini with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella, and slow-cooked salmon with green vegetables. The spot is casual, friendly, and a great spot to know if you live in Southern Brooklyn." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, will hartman, neha talreja, willa moore, sonal shah

"The veggie-forward food at this super casual cafe feels more exciting than dishes we’ve had at big-name farm-to-table restaurants in Manhattan. Yes, Beets and Carrots has beet and carrot hummus, but they also have beet bucatini with an unexpected chili-almond crunch, and a springtime gnocchi with artichoke barigoule. Bring your meat-eating friends too—they have an ultra luxurious lobster newburg, and sometimes do elk and boar burgers. " - neha talreja

"The farm-to-table scene can be a bit of a snooze, no matter how many times a restaurant tries to surprise us with a new kind of hummus. Beets and Carrots has—wait for it—a beet and carrot hummus too. But the rest of the seasonal menu at this homely Bay Ridge restaurant and coffee shop is more exciting than some of the vegetable-forward stuff we’ve had elsewhere—even at fancy Manhattan spots like Loring Place and abcV. Good produce-based dishes, like a beet bucatini topped with crunchy almonds, are a given. There's a very cute vegetable mural on the wall, after all. But don't leave your meat eating friends at home. Beets and Carrots makes stuffed quail and lobster newburg that feel far more luxurious than anything you’d expect at a super casual, cafe-table restaurant. Food Rundown photo credit: Neha Talreja Beet Bucatini A light, but cheesy dish made with flour and beet noodles. Swiss chard works well with the beet, and the almond crunch is a nice touch. We went vegetarian, but you can also add duck sausage for $4. We’d get this again and again. (They also have a ramp pasta we’re dying to try.) photo credit: Beets and Carrots Lobster Newburg The sauce. Light, yet decadent. Overall perfect. That is all. photo credit: Neha Talreja Beet and Carrot Cake with Beet and Carrot Ice Cream This dessert is a more interesting way to stay on-theme than the beet and carrot hummus. Though the cake is a bit dry, the toasted marshmallow-like top helps mix up the textures and add more sweetness, and the homemade beet and carrot ice cream helps soften it up. Not too bad, though we’d try a different dessert next time." - Neha Talreja

This place is an absolute gem! The borscht was the best I’ve ever had—deep, rich flavors that felt both comforting and elevated (I wonder if they added a bit of wine to it? Something about it was very special). The grass-fed NY strip with wine and mushroom sauce was heavenly, incredibly flavorful yet clean and light. (My woeful photography skills really don't do this steak any justice) I don't like dessert, but my husband convinced me to try the apple pie with cheddar ice cream and I was genuinely sad we had to share—it was that good! The best part? Despite eating so much, I left feeling amazing—not heavy or sluggish like I usually do after a restaurant meal. You can tell the owner puts real thought into sourcing high-quality, hearty and clean ingredients. Can’t wait to come back!

I loved this place, which is far away from the main restaurant area in Bay Ridge and feels like a well-kept secret. I had dinner, but they do lunch as well. This restaurant is completely unpretentious, with a relaxing atmosphere in which you're just going to eat great food. For dinner, the menu isn't large, but one gets the sense that's because they know what they want to make. I had pasta with kale and sausage (I forget the name), a beet salad, and their namesake cake with homemade ice cream for dessert. I never review restaurants and am not serious about food, but immediately sensed I was going to write this, as thanks for the great experience. I'll be back repeatedly.

We've been in Brooklyn for less than a week and have already been here twice. Hands down the best food I've had in NYC. The chicken and the duck breast were amazing. Portions are european, but it's a good price for what you get - a delicious food experience. And the beet and carrot cake was something else. The location is small but spacious, with jazz music playing in the background. For some odd reason there weren't too many people when we ate here. I never write reviews, but this is a must eat in Brooklyn, just had to let people know.

The Chef/owner is a wonderful man who cares about the ingredients in the dishes he prepares. Everything I have eaten has been delicious. .......some of the food is sourced from the Organic Regenerative Dutch Meadows Farm of Paradise, Pennsylvania, so you know you are eating the highest possible quality foods in the entire earth.

Google
had an amazing experience at this restaurant. The food was truly delicious, each bite an explosion of flavors that blew me away. Also, the attention to detail in the decor created a charming and cozy atmosphere that really complemented the dining experience. And the desserts, simply sublime! I can't stop thinking about those sweet and luscious flavors. I definitely look forward to going back and trying the rest of the menu. Highly recommended for those looking for an exceptional dining experience!"

Google
The owner and chef is such a nice and simple person. He is really passionate about cooking. The restaurant is good for couples or groups up to 12 people. The ingredients are all natural organic and healthy. The food is delicious. We had the Beats and Carrots Salad for the appetizer, burger with fries and Potato Gnocchi, Apple Pie for dessert. Everything was cooked quickly, even though the restaurant was full. We were very pleased with our dinner. I highly recommend the restaurant!

Google
Amazing meal! I have several allergies to preservatives but the food is so fresh and clean. You can tell the owners put much thought into the meals. If you're used to super sweet and salty food, this isn't the place. The meals here focus on ingredient forward cuisine for those appreciating quality. Love the vibe and wish more places were as clean and tasty as here!

Google
The food is amazing! The environment is so comfortable and cozy. There is only one waitress and she was phenomenal. The best part? She barely interrupted us unless it was to bring us our food. The portions are perfect in my opinion. It allows you to try different dishes. My husband and I were able to share a soup, black bread, and a veggie dish before our main came out. I ordered the Amish burger and I left with half a burger to take home. I was so full, I gave the fries to my hubs. The prices are fair, you are paying for farm to table food. Food that is fresh, not frozen, and actually has taste. The pavlova cake is amazing too! We will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
It's very cold outside so I decided to go to Beets and Carrots Farm-to-Table Restaurant in Bayridge area of Brooklyn NYC. I started with their Coney Island clam chowder that had a very zesty tomato base, fresh vegetables and a very generous portion of clams. It definitely warmed my bones. For my main dish I had the Wild Boar pappardelle, this homemade pasta dish with braised wild boar and pine nuts was delicious and hit the spot. All ingredients in all the food I had tasted very fresh which was exactly what you expect from farm to table restaurants. I will say one negative thing though....i ordered one of their home made chocolate chip cookies for the walk back to the hotel. Midway through the walk home I finally took a bite of the cookie and was instantly betrayed by the flavor! It was not a chocolate chip cookie but an oatmeal raisin cookie! Don't get me wrong, it tasted good after the shock of expecting decadent chocolate chip only to be chewing on raisins and oatmeal. Other than that mix up, if you're in the area definitely stop by! My second visit I will have to try the Rabbit Pot pie. Enjoy the pictures!

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in bay ridge. Absolute gem. Food is always fresh, beautiful and tastes delicious. The chef is incredible and you can tell he really cares about what he puts out.

Audrey B.

Yelp
This is cuisine at a high level, and classic dishes you rarely see anymore. The beef Stroganoff, & rabbit pot pie are wonderful. But so are quinoa pancakes, pumpkin pizza, duck cassoulet & flaming Pavlova. The imaginative menu features fresh seasonal veggies, game meats, & creative versions of basic food, (bison burger!) We've never had a bad meal here. A quiet place to enjoy a civilized meal. BYOB too! The staff is as dedicated to your comfort as Chef is to your palate. If only parking were easier to find.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Call me a millennial but I love the concept of farm-to-table restaurants. The produce is always fresher, it's more sustainable as you get to support local businesses, and sometimes you get to try something totally new. I came to Beets and Carrots on a Saturday afternoon for some brunch. It's on a relatively quiet stretch of 3rd Ave, right by the tip of Bay Ridge, and the space is pretty small but there are lots of small tables and a large one in the middle. We ordered the buckwheat-quinoa pancakes ($14), the shrimp and grits ($20), and the organic Amish burger ($25). As a person who usually does not gravitate towards pancakes or waffles, I was pretty impressed by Beets and Carrots' version, which was dotted with blueberries and had a delightfully crispy edge. The taste of buckwheat is front and center, and the syrup was drizzled with a light hand which I personally appreciated. The shrimp and grits were great, as the(likely stone-ground) grits had a bit of texture and were very buttery. The duck sausage and the shrimp were both a little too salty for my preference but I loved the color and sweetness from the bell peppers. The burger was pretty standard; I don't think there was much that set it apart from others in terms of taste. I noticed there was only a chef in the kitchen and a waiter for the whole restaurant, which explained why the food was a little slow to come out. Our server was very nice, but he did forget the ketchup we asked for, and I felt bad asking a second time because he was running around as the restaurant was starting to fill up. Overall, it's a very cute space and the food is generally delicious but I would advise you to keep in mind that the service can be slow at times.

Yelp
The best farm-to-table fresh meal I've had. Worth traveling for. Bring a bottle of wine (byob) and enjoy.

Maria T.

Yelp
one of the best meals i've had in brooklyn. my only complaint is i wish the portions were a little bigger, like the appetizer broccoli was one big piece and a few smaller ones. we left still hungry and i don't have a big appetite really. another example, i didn't get a picture of the dessert but slices of pie/cake were so small i just had all this leftover ice cream and sorbet. ambiance is cute at night, good date spot. definitely try the peach turnover and the cheddar ice cream.

Nina R.

Yelp
This was the worst food I have ever eaten. I had the bucatini pasta with almonds and fontina cheese. Before I ordered, I asked the server if this was a good dish. He said everything is good. Unfortunately, this pasta resembles worms, and this dish tasted like dirt. I was hungry so I ate it, but I wish I hadn't. Dessert was another disaster. The peach upside down cake was burnt. I took a bite, gagged, then sent it back. Gladly they took it off my bill. I did have the pleasure of dining with Jesus, Mary and Joseph. You normally don't dine with a ceramic figure of the Holy Family at a restaurant, but as others have said, this place is quite unique.

Thomas O.

Yelp
I don't often write reviews but I had to here. The food is second to none. I've eaten here dozens of times and have never once left disappoonted. You can't find more fresh farm to table food in Brooklyn. The menu is always changing based on seasonality. The prices are realistic. Decor is simple and clean. Good for a date or a family dinner both at once. The chef is also the owner, the manager, the bookkeeper, etc. He's a local hard working family man as is evident by his family pop ins for which he always makes time. I wish there were more places like this around.

Erica A.

Yelp
The food was delicious. Two of us shared a small crab cake and we split a bison burger. No complaints at all, but after the tip it was over $60. No drinks, no dessert. One appetizer and one burger. I'd love to go back but it's just too pricey.

David A.

Yelp
We wanted something healthy today. They've got a wide farm to table menu with excellent prices. The chef gladly accommodated dairy free meals for lunch today Started with the cranberry lemonade with mint. What a fantastic concoction! Actual cranberries and wedges of fruit in there with no or little added sugar. Nice and tart. Then we had the beet hummus. Had horseradish on top. Every bite was a piece of heaven. The pita tasted freshly baked and I greedily wanted more Next, the Norwegian fish cake on potato salad. Think deconstructed... Loved every bite! Heirloom carrots were stunning and we really enjoyed the tomato salsa it was in. Service was excellent. Only us and another couple were dining. They played calming jazz acoustic music. Very cute and charming ambiance. Allow for a lot of dining time. The chef spends a lot of time on the dishes. Think slow food movement. Can't wait to come back!

Jeanette E.

Yelp
Delicious food! I had the 3 course pre fix with the broccoli, duck and beet and carrot cake.

Taina L.

Yelp
Wow! Farm fresh, great service, creative dishes and most importantly DELICIOUS! We tried the ramps & potato soup, pumpkin mac, & French toast. We all enjoyed our dishes. We ended our meal with the carrot cake-- best thing we had! It is sweet, soft, and moist. I will definitely be back with others and to try the breakfast & dinner.

Victoria C.

Yelp
Decent food but very overpriced based on portions and area. Charging midtown prices for south Brooklyn is exorbitant. I ordered gnocchi last time and it was so mushy and powdery I couldn't finish it. Their appetizers are solid and the black bread is great too but the entrees are always lacking a little something. The dessert was the best part. We got some beet and carrot cake with ice cream on top which was delicious.

Wei Y.

Yelp
First I love their decorations , the way they serve the foods on the plates , silver fork for deserts ! , the tea cup look unique . The waitress are polite .

Citizen H.

Yelp
Food was tasty and well thought out. i'm glad we have an establishment in bayridge with such rich imagination and keen use of ingredients. though the portions are small for the money. I will be going back to sit in the dining room on a date night. maybe not the place for takeout though.

June R.

Yelp
Absolutely the best Burger had in a very long time with home cut fries! Excellent quality!

Troy K.

Yelp
Having eaten here several times, I continue to be impressed as I eat my way through the menu. The dishes are robust and flavorful and the menu is EXPANSIVE. The interior is cozy and it feels like you're in your Grandmother's home (which goes hand in hand with good food). So take the R train to the last stop (or an express bus if you're fancy) and treat yourself to this neighborhood gem.

Yelp
My review is based on our most recent visit. We have been to Beets and Carrots a couple of times before (and enjoyed our food and experience), but not in the last year. We were excited to come back with a friend. To make it clear, the reason for my 2 star review is the insanely inflated prices on the price fixe menu. I'll explain in detail for context below, but my recommendation would be to avoid this menu. They offered this as pick 3 dishes (one appetizer, one entree and one desert) and pay $75. I selected beets and pumpkin as my app, Charred broccoli from the entree choices, and apple pie from the dessert choices. The appetizer was very tasty and decent sized for a starter. The broccoli was literally one sliced crown and stem, with parmesan, lemon and granola. Small portion for a main course, and the stem was not peeled back, so the texture was very tough and stringy. I ended up not eating that part. The apple pie was standard sized (same size as my husband's pumpkin pie slice, which he ordered a-la carte from the regular dessert menu), and was quite tart. We frankly didn't think too deeply about it while there, preferring to just have fun with our friend. But upon reflection, we were confused why I paid $75 for my meal. The average cost of an appetizer on the standard dinner menu is about $16, and a slice of pie from their regular dessert menu is $12. That means I paid $47 for a slice of broccoli, part of which was too chewy to swallow. I called back the next day, to express my confusion and ask why the price fixe menu was so much money. The woman who answered was nice and asked the chef on our behalf, stating that he sets the price. She relayed back to me that the $75 cost is because there are limited time items on the price fixe menu they don't offer on the standard menu, and the portions are also larger. FYI, the pie was indeed available on the standard menu, and the portions were definitely not larger than anything on the standard menu, as my husband and friend's meals reflected. She did say she was sorry we overpaid, but there was no offer of any way to make it up to us (maybe a credit for an appetizer or something to bring us back?). I don't feel satisfied with the explanation, and it's made me not want to go back. I do believe in supporting local businesses, but would just advise you not order from the price fixe menu if you go.

CARMELINA M.

Yelp
Pricey, but you get unique, fresh and delicious food. The place has a nice country charm. The service is good, too.

Rina E.

Yelp
I only write reviews when I'm either really impressed with a place or the opposite. Unfortunately, my initial great impression of this particular restaurant has been permanently tarnished and it is with a heavy heart that I have to update my review. I first came here about 3 years ago for an amazing lunch with my husband and son. I deeply support the initiative for grass roots, organic, farm to table approach and wanted to support this charming local place and the efforts they're putting in. That's why I decided to host my birthday party here for the first time since COVID, get my family together and wow them with what I thought would be a spectacular gourmet evening. The chef went over the menu for a family-style prix fixe in advance, and we agreed on 6 appetizers and 3 main courses plus 3 desserts, shared among 12 adults, and ordered some extra dishes for 4 kids. When we arrived, we saw that two tables have been set up for our party, with a huge draft coming from the outside aimed right at those tables, so most people had to keep their coats on. (They could have set us up at the other side of the restaurant with no draft, and connected the tables. However, the other side had a few small tables, most unoccupied or people coming and going.) No one greeted us upon arrival, and we kind of had to figure things out for ourselves. Half hour after we came, we were finally approached as two waiters started setting up plates, but still no one really spoke to us and were just on autopilot, not even a smile. The dishes started coming out, and we noticed they were not evenly distributed among our two tables. Not only that, there wasn't nearly enough food to feed the 12 adults from the portions allotted for our pricey prix fixe - though they were placed on large dishes and barely fit on our narrow tables. I felt super uncomfortable and apologetic to my guests, as we had to squeeze in to make the plates fit, and we kept passing scraps of leftover dishes from one table to another. We ordered a few more appetizers and dishes for the table that seemed to only get the scraps, and we asked the staff several times to split each dish that was coming out among the tables. They repeatedly still only brought one given dish to one table, so we had to pass it over. They finally carried out one of the extra appetizers, split among two dishes - and the result was pitiful. It was barely enough for one person to enjoy one forkful per dish - how was this meant to be shareable, let alone for 12 adults? Also, no drinks were included so we were charged for every single soft drink and tea/coffee, which other prix fixe usually include. The bathroom was tiny and we had to walk through the kitchen to get there, and that felt super awkward, especially with kids. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed because of the lack of foresight and poor service. If the waiters or chef actually came out and asked what we need to be more comfortable, or at least gave us a few more dishes at no charge seeing how we kept directing them to make sure we have enough for both tables - I would have greatly appreciated that. Just a smile or acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Instead, I had the feeling that they thought we were being difficult, or like we had three heads when asking for some pretty common sense basics, such as to set us up with individual plates for the "shared" desserts. I do take responsibility for not having asked enough questions prior to reserving, and definitely paid the price tag for this lesson! The bill came out to way more that the prix fixe because of all the extra charges, and that money would have went a long way at pretty much any other restaurant, including upscale banquets. And I understand it's a small place but I did not expect them to take our reservation if they could not accommodate a larger party, especially since we told them in advance about the kids and infant we had in our party. Despite the high-quality food, this place ultimately left a bad place in my mouth. I spent more time stressing out about the guests being comfortable and fed, vs actually enjoying the cute decor with the ambient music and delicacies. Bottom line: this can be a good place for an intimate lunch or dinner for a couple, but is not equipped to handle larger groups. I personally will not be coming back.

Gregory V.

Yelp
The food is always amazing. Like some of the best food I've ever had. A reason this place survives for so long so quietly. The menu changes seasonally. It's usually a one person wait staff and a small kitchen staff so I have had less than excellent service and food not coming out with great timing. But the majority of the time that doesn't happen. The decor is plain but intimate. Downside the bathroom is in the kitchen. Not so private.

Brian M.

Yelp
Interesting experience. This is an organic farm to table restaurant so you will find it a little pricey. Most portions are small so bear in mind you will probably be ordering 2 or 3 dishes. It's owned and run by a husband and wife team and the husband is a very creative chef. He changes things up and is not what you expect for a restaurant with the appearance of an old fashion luncheonette. You are not coming here for the decor, it's a small restaurant. One of the reviews I read said there was no bathroom, not true lol. You need to ask and it's through the kitchen. PROS: Great flavors, quality food, healthy meals, organic and Vegan friendly. You can definitely taste the freshness. Found the customers to be very pleasant and wound up speaking with both tables either side of me for most of the meal. Actually friended one who is a fellow Yelper. Good service from the waiter. It's BYOB with a reasonably priced liquor store next door. CONS: The first waiter was nice although it was his first day on the job. Luckily the main waitress took over. As stated portions tend to be small. I felt most items were a little pricey although you are paying for quality and creativity. As an appetizer we had an appetizer of beets, carrots and gnocchi which was small but flavorful. Main course was salmon which was baked with Saffron and Cauliflower. We ordered a side dish which was Swiss chard, Pune nuts Au gratin. The veggie burger was Awesome and came with fries. For desert had the Apple pie with cheddar ice cream which was also great. They have a nice selection of coffee, teas and use beets as a theme with most of the dishes they offer. They have beet ice cream and beet lattes. Overall nice experience, I would come back although I will try to come back less hungry.

Yelp
This place seems to get better every time we go! Delicious, delicious, delicious. Current favorite: Sunchokes Three Ways.

David E.

Yelp
Tasty, though overwrought dishes. Execution is excellent, but be advised many dishes will have one or two too many ingredients. Example: textbook foie gras lobe, perfect flavor combo, coffee added for unknown reason. Still worth ordering. Do order the borscht. Best I've ever had, and I do not say this lightly. Vegetarian is excellent, with meat is also excellent. Duck and scallops excellent. Textbook. There will be an unnecessary ingredient thrown in the mix to keep things from being too perfectly balanced. Still, overall forgivable. Be advised, there is a small corkage fee. I think around $10. Best bang for buck - next door there's a liquor store: buy a .7L jar of moonshine. I'm partial to the raspberry infusion.

Felisa F.

Yelp
Beets and Carrots is a secret Bay Ridge gem that people secretly whisper about. This is probably for the better, as my friend and I came on a Friday night and we were the only ones in the restaurant. I don't want to have to start fighting off hipsters or enduring an hour wait for dinner. As others have said, the restaurant is nothing to really look at. Though, it does feel like you're having dinner in someone's home using their family's fine china. The service mimics this too- the waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. Beets and Carrot Hummus [$12]: The beets and carrots hummus was such a delightful appetizer. I'm usually turned off by hummus [see: Sabra hummus in the supermarket], but I love it here. Roasted chickpeas on top add a wonderful bit of crunch. Warm salty pita bread is served on the side. This is such a light dish, the flavors of the hummus were so refreshing, not acidic or overwhelming [see: Sabra hummus in the supermarket]. It's also the perfect size for sharing among two people, though I don't doubt my ability to eat it all by myself. Black Russian Bread [$3]: There's no actual bread service at Beets and Carrots but I did find black Russian bread on the menu. This brings me back to my days living in Sheepshead Bay/Brighton Beach. Black Russian bread, for comparison, tastes like pumpernickel bread. There were two thick pieces, salted and buttered. On the side was more butter and some orange marmalade. Outrageously delicious. Veal Cheeks [$29]: These veal cheeks man. These veal cheeks were fork tender. I did not even use my knife once. Incredible. The veal cheeks are braised in red wine and served with roasted vegetables. The vegetables were perfectly roasted and were delicious on its own. Overall, this dish may have been just a little bit too salty but it's still a winner. Mixed Berry Pavlova Cake [$8.50]: I think desserts may be the achilles heel of Beets and Carrots. I enjoyed the mixed berry pavlova cake but it just didn't wow me. The meringue was nice and the cherries underneath the cake were big and juicy. My friend had the beets and carrot cake with the beets and carrots ice cream [$8.50]. The cake was super moist but the ice cream tasted too much like beets but it also didn't really taste much of anything at all. Beets and Carrots is BYOB. There's a $10 cork fee which I think is fair, especially if you buy a $15-20 bottle of wine. Most bottles of wine cost minimum of $50-$60 depending where you go. The bill came out to $100 for two people after tax, before tip. Definitely not a bad deal considering the quality of food! Bay Ridge is definitely better off for having this restaurant around. And I am lucky that it is so close to where I live. Huzzah.

Yelp
It's genuinely delicious food, especially the vegetable prepared by a Master chef, and family owned

Yelp
Stellar, seasonal, farm to table grub! The Beets and Carrots hummus is a must and the shrimp and grits are divine.

Yelp
Outstanding food & service. Varied menu with many choices. Excellent salads & dips with delicious breads. Ate here several times for brunch & dinner. Favorite was their shrimp with grits & pork sausage!! A real neighborhood gem. Nice setting & spaced tables.

Yelp
Another hidden gem in bay ridge -- the food is incredible and the atmosphere is so calming. Perfect for a date or a just a beautiful night out. I was so surprised by the caliber of food. They are BYOB, which is great too!

Yelp
Summary This restaurant more than makes up for everything it lacks with astonishingly delicious food. And it's not lacking much to begin with! Decor The decor isn't anything to gush about. It's a simple homey feel, with wood and books along the edge. On the flip side, it is a little large to actually feel homey, but I have no complaints about that. Service I can't really comment on this as my party was the only one the night I went. It would be difficult to mess up the service like that. Food Oh. My. God. It's food magic. This is one of the places where if you don't order something basic like a burger you'll be treated with tiny portions of expensive food that is OH SO WORTH. I can only describe it as food magic - this is one of the places where they pair the right ingredients with each other and it becomes something more than the sum of its parts!

Lionel M.

Yelp
An absolute gem in Bay Ridge. This unassuming little spot serves delicious and creative seasonal dishes with locally sourced ingredients that will blow you away. The care they put into selecting and sourcing their products is immediately evident. Kudos to the Chef for all they do! Also, during COVID they've set up a really cute outdoor eating area that I look forward to going to as soon as it stops snowing.

The food is incredible, whether it's a burger or a thin slice of pickled beet or a piece of pie. Whatever is put in front of you will be delicious, interesting, or both.

Yelp
Excellent, fresh, healthy food tucked away in southern Bay Ridge off the beaten path. This place over-exceeded my expectations and this is even after my fiancé had hyped it up. I got the borscht to start off which was incredible. Opted for no meat, and I'm a carnivore. Wanted to really taste that original beet & dill flavor, and I'm glad I did. Got the crab cake as well which was incredibly fresh, and a decent size too. Tried my fiancés clam chowder which shocked me with its freshness, and tasty whole clams served in the shell. Will definitely be back here and I would highly recommend you give it a shot.

Yelp
One of my recent favorite finds. Was driving through Brooklyn on a Monday afternoon looking for a place to have lunch and happened to be in the same neighborhood as this gem. Menu (as well as the name) are very unique and was excited to try a selection of items. Chef agreed to make me the fois gras from the dinner menu and glad he did, it was amazing. As was the homemade hummus duo as well as the dessert. They have a great tea selection as well.

Yelp
Hidden gem in bay ridge. The quality of food is fantastic and we loved how fresh everything tasted. My husband had their short rib grill cheese and said it was the best he's had. I had their Mac and cheese and it felt home cooked. The quality rivals an established farm to table restaurant and highly recommend heading there for a meal.

Yelp
I love the food here. Great flavors and fresh farm to table ingredients. There isn't anything like it in my neighborhood and service is always lovely. The portions are on the smaller side but I find that I would choose smaller plate bursting with flavors vs big and bland any day. Great spot for quality meal.

Yelp
Hot, local, fresh. Amazing local Brooklyn joint for farm to table brunch. Down the street from the Verrazano bridge. We ordered the beet salad, it was perfectly marinated with a few pieces of warm fried gnocchi. Full breakfast had fresh farm eggs - I ordered mine scrambled with buttery goodness.

Yelp
This really reminds me of eating near the finger lakes or Adirondacks. The farm to table dishes and extravagant and beautifully delicious. The owners will accommodate any ingredient you wish to add or subtract. I would definitely recommend coming to eat here for brunch or dinner.

Yelp
Amazing dinner started with tender grilled octopus with potatoes and main of homemade mafalde pasta with garlic scapes summer squash and lemon. Hubby had seafood bouillabaisse rouille. Dessert was upside down peach cake with peach hibiscus sorbet. Whole other level. BYOB. Delicious!

Yelp
A very non assuming spot with excellent food and friendly staff. Offers vegetarian, vegan and carnivore options. Worth a visit!

Yelp
Not many farm to table places around which does make this place stand out a little bit more. Came here for dinner on a Friday night and it wasn't crowded at all. The place is small and definitely not meant for big crowds. Their bathrooms also in the kitchen which is strange, they do have an area for kids to play which is nice. Their breakfast and brunch menu looks pretty good which I'm excited to come back and try. The three of us each had a pasta dish which were each very good. I had the pumpkin Mac and cheese with bacon, my other friends had the spaghetti with Wilde boar and charred gnocchi? Loved the pumpkin Mac and cheese, very flavorful and not overwhelmingly cheesy. The rigatoni was made just al dente. The spaghetti was cooked well also. The wild boar is close to a bolognese sauce except it's shredded and pretty tender. The gnocchi was super flavorful as well. All their pastas are house made. The only thing I wish was that their portions would be a little bit bigger. Came pretty hungry and the one pasta dish didn't fill me up. But i wouldn't consider their portions small. We also had a complimentary pickled beet? Appetizer from the chef. I'm not a fan of beets so I didn't really enjoy it, but my friend that does like beets seemed to like it. I'll be back to try their other dishes!

Yelp
Five stars again! Can I give it six stars? This place delivers every time. Great service, a super-talented chef who has worked in the best Michelin-starred kitchens in NYC and fresh high-quality ingredients. We've loved everything and we try something different every time we're here. I wish I could eat everything on the menu in one sitting!

Yelp
Terrific neighborhood spot. Excellent food and service. Great soups and plated food. Their grits, with duck sausage, is to die for; DELICIOUS!!!! Evening menu is inventive and inviting. Great carrot spread with black bread. Only down point is that it may be difficult to park nearby.

Yelp
End of Dec 2019 update: Just like how I hate pumpkin pie but the Beets and Carrots version is my favorite, I also hate apple pie but Beets and Carrots have convinced me otherwise. If its still on the menu, everyone needs to try the apple pie. The apples are like thinly sliced and will melt away in your mouth - allllmost apple sauce consistently. Which is great for me because I always thought classic apple pie filling had too hard of a texture on the chunky diced apple pieces. The cheddar cheese ice cream is also soooo good. Hot desserts with cold ice cream are one of my favorites and the chef excels at these types of dishes.

Yelp
We had a phenomenal meal here. Being from NJ, we didn't realize restaurants were still closed for indoor dining in NY. We sat outside on a very cold day in the Greenhouse, which houses just one table (could seat four), and grabbed a bottle of moonshine at the liquor shop next door to warm up quickly. The borscht came out first and was one of the best borscht soups we have ever had. Add the meat to it, it's tasty. Next was the fois gras brulee, which was a bit overdone - the flavor of the berries was so strong that you miss the delicacy of the fois gras- so you really need to eat it deconstructed to get the flavor of every component- and individually every component tasted good separately. The beet pasta with lamb was hearty and had a good bite to it, I enjoyed the almonds (crunch) and grated cheese over it too. The lamb with Brussels sprouts and dill was well seasoned with pepper but I thought could use a touch more salt. It was tender and the garnishes all came well together for a composed plate. The dessert (chocolate tart) was rich, and the pumpkin pie had a tasty crust- it wasn't amazing but wasn't a throwaway either. You could tell it was homemade and thoughtful. Overall, it is a hands-down five-star meal, and the prices were very reasonable. Two people can have a three course meal for around $100 and that is great value, considering the quality of ingredients and quality of your meal. I would highly recommend it
